I lived here for two years and have a lot of opinions I'd like to share. Pros - Corey is amazing and knows their stuff. They are always so friendly and willing to help the residents with any and all concerns. They really tried making this apartment complex a community. Location, as long as you are facing the courtyard or Union. The construction, bars and club on 14th can be loud but I couldn't hear anything since we faced the courtyard. Kitchen storage if you are not in an updated unit is great. We were on the first floor and so we got great water pressure and hot water, but I can't speak for higher up floors. All the animals! A lot of people have pets and it's great meeting them and their owners. Shannon, the Service Director, was a huge help with my move out. I was very stressed and when she saw that she jumped into action and helped me with getting things to my car and telling me what I should and shouldn't worry about. The views from the roof are great! Cons - Honestly, I wish management was more proactive and seemed to care more. They just don't seem to be very proactive with security, keeping the building working or finding better solutions to keep our vehicles safe. Everything takes way more time and way too many complaints to be addressed. The electricity in my apartment would go out randomly multiple times a day, and I was essentially told, it is what it is. When I asked to have an a/c port put into my French door so we could have a cooler summer in our home, I was given a couple of lame excuses until I told it was too expensive even though it would cost less than one months rent. read more

Management does not seem to care or be proactive with fixing ongoing issues. Major issues after living here 2+ years: -Car break ins (3 for me so far and I park behind two gates plus parking is over 200 a month) - Trash compactor/trash chute has been broken for months and no fixes have been made. -Packages are constantly stolen and the package locker breaks down occasionally Minor issues/ things I've noticed -Rooftop is not enjoyable due to the smell of pet urine from the pet relief fake grass patches. -Rent is hard to predict due to utilities not being a fixed amount per month read more

They decided to raise my rent even while the vacant, identical apartment above mine is renting for $400 less all while construction has started across the street and turned my living room into an active construction zone in terms of the noise. Because there is virtually zero sound insulation, you'll be listening to the bass thumping of Diesel and Chop Suey all night long until 2am -- just to be interrupted by the thunderous sound of recycling being emptied on the street at 4am (this happens regularly). When you wake up, you can make breakfast in the kitchen that was remodeled so poorly you have to actively pull cabinets into your face to open them. Enjoy looking out your floor to ceiling windows, unless it's summer in which case it gets so hot that every west facing unit plasters their windows with aluminum foil and cardboard in a desperate but futile attempt to blot out the heat from the sun. At least it's safe, excluding the multiple break ins and vandalizations! read more

Safety in the parking garage, safety of packages, courteous staff always available during working hours, prompt maintenance service, they keep it very clean. Great location too; walking distance to great restaurants, clubs, post service, Kaiser Permanente, Grocery Stores, you name it. If you are able to afford the rent, this is a fabulous place to live in. read more

OK, so I'm not into all looks (as anyone who has ever examined my shaggy, barely-kempt self will attest), but so far so good for me at the Chloe Apartments. The staff is for the most part solicitous: cool and coyly distant at times, but so far not in such a way as to offend (yet). The applicances/appurtenances in the apartments are kinda' unexpectedly cheap-ass (e.g., formica countertops in an era of inexpensive lab-made granite) -especially for units they originally intended to sell as condos- but they work and they don't have someone else's nast all over them so that's still a plus. If proximate sources of noise are your primary concern, be reminded that the Chloe Apartments are located in AN APARTMENT BUILDING: not a subterranean bunker or an isolation chamber. Through the twin miracles of gravity and hydrodynamics I can hear when tenants above me flush their toilet, but the actual act of peeing (!!!) never enters into my sound package. The rack rate for these apartments is indeed expensive: too expensive for the rental market we're in, new building or not. A lot of the initial tenants were signed with reduced rent packages, but you can expect many of them to move right out again after 14 months (look for an exodus in March-April-May of 2011) if the management company (Lorig Associates) decides to raise their rents 22%. As a parent, the building is within walking distance of three great playgrounds in two city parks (and one decommissioned middle school facility @ TT Minor), which is a huge advantage for urban kids. There's great access to transit (the # 2, 10, 11, 12, 84 all run within a block of the building). Shopping, dining & entertainment are all at hand. On the whole though my experience thusfar at Chloe Apartments has been positive. read more

Truly a one in a million property. Aside from the beautifully renovated units, great location, and vibrant community, the staff at Chloe is beyond awesome! From the moment I stepped into the lobby for my tour, I was greeted by Alex with a smile. She has been a pleasure to work with throughout my whole experience from the tour to move in, and even post move in. She went out of her way to take photos of my unit to send me so that while I was still in California, I knew what to expect. Now that I've settled, the staff continues to greet me with a smile and helping hand. Couldn't see myself anywhere else! read more

Great location, parking on site, around a lot of cute restaurants and pet friendly! This place is perfect if you looking for a safe, pet friendly building near night life and down town. The studios are very cozy and big. Kinda feel like a bedroom if you set them up right. Its a little on the pricey side, but you are paying for security and convenience. read more

I've only lived here a few weeks, so only time will tell on some of the issues raised, but so far, I'm loving it. - Noise: I'm on the 4th floor, right in front of the lifts, dead centre in the building. This should be the noisiest part of the complex, but I'm not hearing the things others are complaining about. I can hear the occasional hallway conversation and a heavy muffled footstep or two from upstairs. That's it. Perhaps I"m not near the plumbing lines, but I don't hear flushing or other expected bathroom sounds and definitely do not hear peeing. I will say that I'm in a carpeted one bedroom unit, so perhaps the studios that are entirely laminate flooring might be louder. When the windows are closed, it's nearly silent. I also don't hear parties from three floors up, despite the fact that the roof deck is directly above me, a couple floors away. We made it through NYE last night and the only time we heard the rooftop revelers was when we joined them. - Insulation: This building is insulated a little *too* well. We've been having to leave the windows open in the middle of winter because the building is warmed from everyone else's heat. We'll definitely have to put in a/c in the summer. - Pet smells: None noted, even near pet relief areas. I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell and the smallest things will drive me batty. There's definitely not a smell. There's no overwhelming smell of cleaning products, either. The smell seems fairly neutral and "new building". - Management: These folks are awesome. They bend over backwards to make sure everything is taken care of for you. - Price: A little on the high side, but neighbourhood rents are catching up. If you don't want to spend $1500 on a one bedroom, you'll have to give up location (this location is phenomenal) or modern conveniences. - Quirks: There's a waiting list for parking. I'm told it moves quickly and the manager arranged a space for me at The Pearl, but it's a few blocks uphill from here. There's a chute for rubbish on each floor, but recycling has to be schlepped down to the parking level. Closet doors are all the folding kind rather than the sliding kind, making it impossible to use one for hiding pet accessories. Smoke detectors are exceptionally sensitive. Fan must go on before any cooking starts. So, one star down for the quirks. Still an amazing place to be! Living right above Skillet is a little dangerous for both the wallet and the waistline, though. ;-) read more

I've lived here for about 6 weeks now and I can say I'm very happy with my choice. The units are nice. The kitchen is newly remodeled and I really love it. Lots of counter space. My apartment faces the street but it's usually pretty quiet. The staff has been great. Khamiyra was fantastic. She made the whole application/move-in process really seamless. My one and only complaint...and I hesitate to bring this up but I think it's important...is their hot water system. The water takes several minutes to heat up. I asked about this and was told that the building has a boiler for the hot water. So the amount of time the hot water takes depends on where your unit is located and whether or not your neighbors have been using the hot water. Due to this my water and sewer bill for my first month was really high. It still doesn't make me regret my choice. But I once lived in a building that was over 100 years old and it had a better hot water system. I'm just saying. Overall I'm very happy. read more

Love this place! I have one of the recently remodeled units on the first floor. It's beautiful with wood floors and and new appliances. The location is great, walking distance to Trader Joe's, Cap Hill Farmers Market, and great bars/restaurants. Everyone in the office is super nice/helpful, coming to the rescue when I needed my car jump started or when I needed help putting paintings and curtains up. Amenities: Nice pool table in the lobby, fantastic community room upstairs which is like a second living room, beautiful rooftop, package delivery into my apartment, dry cleaning pickup/dropoff, very convenient gym (not owned by Chloe but first 6 mo. free with a year lease), and access to a super cute dog. (Probably more but those are what come to mind.) read more

I will miss living here for the location, community and location. Some people on here seem to complain about noise but I did not have the experience in the two years I lived in the building. Maybe because I am from NYC and used to noise? My experiences with the the team who worked at Chloe during my time here was great. They were 100% proactive in helping out whenever you needed something from a repair, to helping a newbie to Seattle find things or just to sit and chat in the office/lounge for a few. Will definitely miss the staff. read more

The ENTIRE staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is having the best living experience here. Alanna specifically has gone out of her way multiple times to help me out whether it's to ensure I can rent the apartment I fell in love with, bringing packages up to my apartment when needed,etc. I have never had any problems with hearing the neighbors. The location is perfect for me, close to a bunch of awesome restaurants and bars and only about a 20 min walk from the convention center downtown! This is the second apartment I have lived in that is an Equity Property and I can happily say I have loved them both!!! I can see myself living here for a long time! read more

If you're into all looks and nothing else, this is the place for you. The staff is very kind, the apartments are very cute, and it's more of a community rather than an apartment building..... But you can hear the people above you pee!!! That's how horribly this place is built. You can also hear parties from 3+ floors up (like it was in your living room!) You might as well be living with your upstairs neighbors, cos you are NOT going to bed until they do, OR waking up any time after they decide to..... WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, WAY WAY WAY WAY TO EXPENSIVE, for a building that isn't built to be quieter. read more

The good: *Killer views from the west side of the building and the roof deck * Great amenities if you have a dog * Location, location, location * The management is great at taking care of the little things and minor maintenance requests are always fulfilled quickly. The bad: * Apparently the builders did not believe in insulation or sound proofing - as Karen says below, you can hear every habit of your upstairs neighbors. Everything. Really. every step, every drawer, every door, every moment in the bath room. * The management doesn't care. You pay a premium to live here but you do not get premium management. As they once said to me "We didn't build the building." So what if the upstairs neighbor's TV rattled the walls of my unit at midnight during the week? It wasn't their fault. * Your rent will be raised at EVERY opportunity. * The appliances and finishes are not even run-of-the-mill; they are sad for the price you pay and not acceptable. * Management reserves the right to change policy at any time. In other words, renter beware. They'll say anything to get you in but don't think for a minute they'll honor their promises later. They promised the world to the first renters (easy lease transfers, cheap guest parking, 24 hour security, concierge services [asst. lease manager with highly variable hours doesn't count as a concierge, sorry], package delivery to your unit, help with dry cleaning, etc.) and never or barely fulfilled on most of the promises. I left the Chloe extremely disappointed, obviously. I loved my view and the location but couldn't get over being treated like just another renter after two years of paying my rent on time, not complaining much and never having a complaint lodged against me. They didn't care and never bothered trying to give me a reason to stay. Having mostly rented in smaller buildings and condo complexes where the owners/landlords appreciated stable tenants, this was shocking. I am much happier again renting a condo, and I encourage everyone to explore other options on the market. I have better finishes, more square footage, a balcony, a view, storage included, gas included, and fireplace for the same cost as the Chloe. I'm much happier. But if you like a big community where you blend in with everyone else or you have a dog and can't find a pet friendly unit, the Chloe might be right for you. Good luck with that. First of all. Its loud in the summer. Very loud. Marjorie out front has open summer seating until late at night and the volume of conversations is so bad on warm nights I have to close my windows and even then I can hear everything until ten or later. There is a lingering pet smell everywhere and it completely permeates the building. After a while, I got used to it and stopped noticing it...but its there...a subtle smell like a veternarian office. It is a very dog friendly building so dont be surprised. I really didnt like that they jacked my rent up by $100 plus dollars ervy chance they got. The unit was on the verge of being way too expensive already and that price jack really pushed it over the edge. The letter they gave me claimed it was "market rates" but I cant find a single listing anywhere on craigslist for a studio apartment costing this much. How about "naked greed" as being a better explanation. There are a ton of new apartment building under heavy production here on Capitol Hill...they can be greedy now but supply is about to increase thankfully. Anyways, when I moved in the apartment was filthy and hadnt been cleaned. I mentioned this twice and even argued with me about it and finally begrudgingly sent a cleaning person who then proceeded to break the plastic closet door guide out of either rushing to get it done or being pissed off. Also, the dish washer was unglued and kept coming out of the space, tipping forewords. I had to ask to get it glued back into place. I have some good pictures of it I can post. Parking is expensive. The first space they gave me was between two extremely narrow concrete pillars...so tight I could barely fit my car. I asked for a new space and they gave me one on the upper level outside of the gate which was fine until somene broke into several cars out there at which point I asked to be moved back downstairs. On several occassions, I have seen garbage pile up to a degree which is not ok, reeking up the entire building or even piling up to the second floor so that you can put a garbage bag into the chute. I was relatively happy here and willing to let it all slide until they rais my price was raised by 100 bucks. That seriously pisses me off and makes me remember all of the things that make me not want to pay so much to stay here. I think I will be moving out soon. read more

I absolutely loved living here. The building was great, but most importantly, everyone in the office was awesome. If I could pick up the building and place it in the neighborhood I moved to, I totally would have. The apartment was pretty quiet. I lived on the fifth out of six livable floors and I never had to turn my heat on in the winter. It has to be the most pet friendly apartment I've ever lived in. I highly recommend to anyone with a pet looking to live in Capitol Hill! read more

I moved here to Chloe about 6 months ago fresh to Seattle. I found an ad on Craiglist, took a look at the Chloe blog, spoke with Jeremy and ended up committing to a lease before ever seeing a unit (a testament to the management's ability to help out). Six months later I'm still very satisfied with my experience here. To echo the previous reviews statements the management here is excellent, I've never had trouble getting an issued resolve and genuinely enjoy saying hi when I see them around the building. The apartments themselves are only a year old so they are all in great shape, most only having one or two owners. There's a great rooftop with a fantastic view of the city and a nice gym on the ground floor that gives great rates to renters (I think I pay 20 bucks a month). The only downside of the building would be the price, although you certainly get what you pay for (I think this is one of the only buildings in Capitol Hill with a Concierge). There are cheaper units around but I don't think you'll be getting the attention to detail that you get here at Chloe. If you're looking for a nice place on the hill, I'd definitely recommend taking a look at Chloe! read more

I've lived in the Chloe for about five months now and on the whole, my experience has been positive. My apartment is super quiet, but I lucked out with a unit located between a stairwell and a storage closet, so I don't have a lot of neighbor noise. The floor-to-ceiling windows totally make the apartment, which is small but efficient. Management has been fantastic. They respond quickly to everything, and they're always very friendly when you see them in the hall. My only complaint has been with the rooftop party room. It's an amazing amenity with an incredible view, and it's free for tenants to rent out (with a $150 deposit). But they made the mistake of building it over a regular apartment, so it's pretty much guaranteed that the tenant below will come upstairs during your party to complain about noise. What's the point of having an amazing party room if you can't use it past 10pm? Maybe I'm just the only weirdo who likes to stay up past 10pm with my friends on a Friday/Saturday night :) It's definitely an expensive building, but you get what you pay for. I love living somewhere new and clean with great windows and views. And the location can't be beat. But I must admit, I'm a little scared for when they decide to raise my rent ... read more

Honestly, living here has been the standard to which I've compared future apartment experiences - none of them compare favorably to The Chloe. We've lived here for a couple months now and absolutely no complaints! Neighbor noise hasn't been an issue even though we were prepared for it to potentially be. I've only heard the neighbors dog bark a couple times - nothing out of the ordinary. We love this place for many reasons but the top three are: the location (!), how dog friendly it is, and the design of the space (huge windows). read more

Great location. Nice small apartment. Over priced, but if you get two months free and free parking for a year, it makes it more palatable. Otherwise, I dont think so. The accounting practices there have a lot to be desired. One might think-how do you mess up an account for an apartment-think about renting an a/c and getting overcharged, paying your rent late cause you were out of town (my bad) and getting charged a late fee twice, and messing up the refund amount when you move out. Really?!? When you go and tour the complex, and it is a nice complex, notice all the empty apartments and parking spots. There is a reason for that. Take the time and look around, because there are pretty deals out there. read more
