So far, it has been an amazing first week but honestly, our experience with this building started all the way back in March, and I have to start with Tami, because she is the reason I fell in love with this place before I even moved in. Tami is truly one of those people who radiates warmth, kindness, care, and genuine passion for what she does. From day one in March, she welcomed us with open arms and an even bigger heart. She has been unbelievably patient with us, our questions, our changes, and our completely crazy schedule . She even makes sure I'm meeting other ladies in the building which I love! At this point, I'm pretty sure she's not just leasing apartments she's building a little community. And if that wasn't sweet enough, Tami even got welcome gifts for our three cats! I mean, come on... how do you not love someone who understands that the cats are also very important residents? They apparently have their own VIP welcome package now. That little gesture meant so much to us and really shows the kind of thoughtful person she is. And now that we're actually living here, I'm even happier with our decision. The building is beautiful, I absolutely love the finishes in my apartment, and THE QUIET! I keep waiting to hear a neighbor and... nothing. After living in houses for the past 25 years, I was honestly a little nervous about apartment living, but this has made the transition so much easier than I ever expected. Also, can we talk about how GOOD this building smells?! Even the apartment smells amazing. Apparently I now judge luxury by finishes, silence, and scent. Every single person I've met so far whether they work here or live here has been wonderful, friendly, and welcoming. It genuinely feels like there is a special atmosphere here. Tami, thank you for making us feel at home months before we even had a home here. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, your huge heart, for putting up with our crazy schedule since March, and for making sure even our three furry family members felt welcomed. It's only been one week, and I already have this much to say... so you may need to prepare yourselves for my one-month review. read more

Mckenzie is a gorgeous property with great amenities and located in walking distance of the retail area (coffee, bars, food), plus tons of other stuff in SLU including Wild Ginger, Whole Foods, etc. I had the most phenomenal experience with Irina and the concierge team! All my questions were answered and I was assisted with the upmost luxury tenant experience. She is honestly the reason I am still at McKenzie and feel like a member of this community. Irina build a strong sense of community and I truly feel as a patron that I am experiencing the luxury experience. Also her team is organising the best event ever: the most recent Valentines event was top notch GIVE HER A GIANT RAISE!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$ read more

I'm a regular visitor to this building in a professional capacity. I walk a sweet little dog in the building and sometimes petsit him as well. On a break from office work, I've been doing pet care in the area for several years, and the front desk team can significantly impact one's own schedule (as any delivery person or house-cleaning crew will also tell you! Significantly, some of us who visit are "gig" workers and not paid hourly. Also, doggies have their own urgent needs and schedules, and some deliveries may be urgent for the resident, so attention to these matters must be important to residents as well.) The attentiveness, courtesy, and friendliness of the front desk team help make my job both pleasant and on-time! From "old-timers" Irina and Alem, to the newer crew like Reese and the friendly ladies whom "my" little pug loves, they take time to remember your name and greet the dogs, too. Since I treat each dog's walks as an outing and opportunity not just for exercise and potty breaks but a chance for enriching and happy connections with the world outside, a staff that is kind to the pets is important to me. The whole staff is friendly and treats everyone well, as I've chatted with folks in the elevator, in front of the restrooms, etc.! This goes a long way to making a building a nice place to live and visit, and not all buildings of this kind have this kind of a crew. There was one building where I could not gain access at all and saw a sign on the front desk saying "Back in an hour!" Poor doggie did not get its walk that day! Thank you, McKenzie staff! read more

Very pretty building inside and out. Regularly cleaned and stocked amenities. Hot tub, sauna, steam room, gym, bike storage, indoor parking, package lockers and room, dog spa and dog bathroom area. Probably more I forgot about. Oh, and 24hr concierge staff. Kiko is my favorite. They help with anything all the time to the best of their ability. House keeping and maintenance team are around most of the time it seems. App used to make service requests. Sometimes they have events where you can meet other residents. Once a month they have cake or snacks for "birthdays". Easy to meet people in the spa are or upstairs lounge if you want to be friendly. See ya soon read more

Carter who works the front desk came up to help me fix my door lock so I wouldn't have to wait for maintenance! Amazing customer service! Every time he greets me he's smiling and always willing to help out! He saved me having to continuously ask the front desk to let me in coming in and out. My hero. read more

I'm shocked to see the one star reviews here. Compared to my many years living in Seattle this building is easily a 5 star establishment from start to finish. My last year and a half here has been nothing short of amazing. When I first moved in I had an issue with my washing machine (no water). I contacted the leasing office they sent someone right away. This prompt service is one of the things that has really stood out in my mind from my experience here. Ever since then every staff I have spoken with has been super friendly and outgoing. Amazing shout out to the concierge team who was always there to chat with and assist with anything I needed. The amazing team took great care of me and I'm sure they will do the same for you. Check it out! read more

Update after moving out - they tried to keep $1000 of the security deposit. You'll have to fight for your security deposit, ESPECIALLY if you hung or did anything to your walls. They will charge for a full repaint, a cleaning, a separate balcony cleaning, a deep cleaning, and more. I've lived in 3 separate high rises in Seattle and never had anything beyond a basic cleaning fee charged after move out. This is a headache and the management company will keep dragging it on. I am not the only one this has happened to from this building. Do you like construction noises? Do you enjoy not sleeping? If so, you're in luck! Construction starts at 5am and often will go until midnight, and the jackhammers are LOUD. The apartments are not insulated enough to drown it out. I've been here for 13 months and there has been construction for 13 months. It's awful. There's other issues like aggressive dogs not being muzzled, but seriously, if I knew how bad the construction and sound insulation was I never would've signed here read more

I am a former resident of McKenzie and I definitely recommend. My experience here has been nothing short of amazing. I want to share my experience as one very satisfied resident. Every morning I was greeted by the concierge Felipe, who absolutely made this experience memorable. The entire concierge team is just amazing. I loved all of the events and being able to meet with my neighbors for fun social events, a Spring Happy Hour, and Summer BBQ. The McKenzie management team truly cares for their residents and were able to address any concerns I had immediately. The maintenance team is super friendly as well, and I never had any issues with things getting fixed with a day or so. The amenities . . . ? Just WOW! The rooftop is stunning, the hot tub is amazing, and the gym has a great view of the Lake Union. I recently moved out from McKenzie and worked with Keith in the leasing office who was so patient with me when it came to questions about my security deposit. I had heard some stories from other residents about having issues with deposits, but my experience was very different and I'm very pleased with the service and timeliness of the refund process. I would have stayed longer if my employment kept me in Seattle. If I return, McKenzie will definitely be at the top of my list. read more

Former resident of the McKenzie Apartments, honestly was an alright place to live in. Rooms were spacious and a somewhat nice view, however I had a reoccurring issue with the upfront concierge "Reese." He constantly wore a frown, and even rolled his eyes at me once for asking about my package as well as package theft in the building. Hope I never have to deal with customer service workers like that again. read more

Great apartments and stunning views but the management company that runs this place is terrible. No decency or respect and they are out to make sure you are swindled. The stress they put you through is not worth living here for. read more

Downgrading to 1 star because of the awful experience AFTER moving out of McKenzie. Apparently several other residents that have moved out are having the same issue with deposits. Our last day was Aug 1 and we STILL haven't been able to settle our deposit ($1,200), three months and 50 emails later!!!! In early Sept, we finally settled on what we would get back and we were told that 2 separate checks were being sent to us. We never received the checks, so after multiple attempts, we were able to get the checks re-sent to our forwarding address. . but we only got one of the promised checks. When asked why, the reason we got was complete nonsense (see attached photos of email screenshots) and not what we were told 2 months ago. $100 may not be a lot, but it is not okay to do this. Great amenities, central location, kind staff, but don't expect management to give a sh-- about you once you move out. read more

The only reason I give McKenzie 5* is because I cannot give it 6 stars. I stayed there (sadly) for only half a year before relocating to New York, and McKenzie is the one thing I miss most about Seattle. Here's my summary of the place: Location: Intersection of Bell Town, SLU, Down Town. Extremely closed to everything you ever need, and Capt Hill is a cheap Uber away. Yet, it's far enough from the shit show in Down town, Bell town that I feel safe walking around at night (if you don't know what I mean, try walk around Pike place at night, it's a shit show). Amenities: It's almost impossible to find another building with amenities that's so well designed and thought off. I freaking miss the nightly hot tub & spa after a tough day at work .... The gym is superb with free apple lol, and the rooftop work both for some quiet WFH moment or some social gathering. Community: My neighbors are AMAZING. I met so many new friends from McKenzie. The management team also create a lot of opportunity for social gathering, make sure you don't miss it! The unit itself: It's great, like what you would expect from a high end apartment. Everything is super well thought out. Seriously, the only reason why I'd recommend someone not staying here is the price. But then again, you get what you are paying for, and I know a lot of apartment with similar price range but is much shitter in comparison. The move out: Since I already move out, I think it's important for me to tell my experience. The management team is SUPER FREAKING HELPFUL in helping me manage my sudden relocation. I also only get charge the bare minimum for repainting the wall at the cost of $50-100 or something like that (which is standard for every apartment move out) Another minor down side is sometime the leasing agent can be a bit aggressive, I don't really mind that, but just an FYI. read more

Very bad online rental experience. Very important! !!！ The deposit of 600 dollars is non-refundable. (Any non-refundable charges should not be named with deposit by law) I applied online and paid the deposit of 600 dollars and the application fee of 50 dollars. Before I paid, the agent kept sending me emails urging me to pay the deposit, but after I paid the deposit, the agent did not reply to my emails for several days. The day before the move-in date, I was told the documents needed to move in. I couldn't move in on time when I prepared the documents at that time. I think the management here is very poor. At that time I was told that the deposit is non-refundable. I sent an email to ask, but no one responded to me for a month. In short, don't be fooled by the fancy pictures on the official website, the management here is very poor. It is conceivable that there will be various indiscriminate charges after move-in. read more

Wow! As a digital nomad, I find myself in all kinds of fancy buildings in Seattle (lucky me!) and tonight I had a 10 star experience with concierge Josh. Bright, fun, personality plus, kind hearted, and genuine. Get this! I had met him in another building before and thought the same thing and this time I was certain to give him a review and recognition. Give him a raise! And congratulations to McKenzie Seattle for hiring him. Smart decision to have a unicorn working for you. It's a beautiful property however we know its the people who make a building come to life. UPDATE! Today I met Felipe the concierge manager and he was as accommodating and kind as Josh. McKenzie Seattle, when it comes to people, you know what you are doing! Bravo!!! Applause, applause! read more

My husband and I came here looking for an apartment closer to work. Not only is the property top of the line, but so is the service! We ended up leasing with Lena H after a couple of preliminary visits with her (plus a hard hat tour of the facility). If you are looking for a property with a team that exudes professionalism and hospitality, we highly recommend you check out McKenzie! Ask for Lena H. She is FANTASTIC. Everything has been smooth sailing, and we're so excited to move in this summer! As far as the property itself is concerned, it's literally a block from Day1 (for you Amazonians) and is competitively priced against other properties in the area. The amenities are to die for (jacuzzi, sauna, spa, yoga room, private dining on the 40th floor, gym on the 39th floor, etc). The views are unbeatable and it's very walkable. This place is a winner! read more

I lived here for about a year and half, and had an incredible time and felt very privileged to have been able to call McKenzie my home. The concierge team, particularly Felipe, was incredibly capable and helpful for any issues I had. Maintenance was also super quick to respond to any issues and usually had the issue fixed within a few hours. You could really tell the whole team cared about creating a great and safe environment to live in. Regarding the apartment itself, it was excellent. I was worried about noise issues since I read a few reviews that had mentioned those, but never experienced them myself. The internet was fast and a breeze to setup. The views from my apartment were also wonderful. If I had to think of any negatives, it was that the trash chute would be "unloading / in service" a lot of the time. I'm not sure exactly why but there would be a good amount of instances where I would take my garbage over and it wouldn't be available for a little while. Another issue was that it seemed like there were some issues with the spa/sauna, I would receive emails about it but never ventured over myself so I can't really speak to that. To speak on COVID: I was living in McKenzie when COVID hit and a few months after, from February-August. I remember the concierge and maintenance team taking it seriously, wearing masks, and even roping off the concierge desk to maintain 6 feet in distance. I'm not sure how they've changed since then but my experience was that it was taken and handled very seriously by the McKenzie staff. Overall a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend! read more

We moved in Jan 2020, and the building was amazing. Since then, not so much. The concierge team is top notch and spectacular, and the reason I still give 3 stars. Otherwise all parts of this review are the sad but honest truth. The most shocking aspect is how unsafe I feel living here during a pandemic. I have brought up with management my concerns multiple times, but here we are 7 months into the pandemic and employees still are not wearing masks. The worst part is management says they will do something about it, but clearly not. The trash chutes are never functioning, we have trash sitting in our apartment for 5 days at a time because the chute is always broken. Once again, brought this up with management, no change. Elevators, be prepared to wait 5 minutes+ for one to come, but when one comes, it will be packed with people and you will have to wait another 5 minutes for (hopefully) an empty one. The main problem of this building is management is non responsive and leasing does not answer emails or requests made through their online portal. The apartment is beautiful, just not one you'd want to live in during COVID. read more

I spent 1.5 years living in this building - the McKenzie team, the amenities, the care, and the location make this an absolutely wonderful place to call home. The attention to detail - whether it's the construction, the finishes, and/or the personal service is spectacular. From management, leasing, concierges, facilities (maintenance & cleaning), all are professional, gracious, kind, intuitive, and caring. Truly, I would have to name each and every individual of the McKenzie team for credit in making this a great choice for home. read more

After living here for two years, I thought I'd update my review to recognize the exceptional service from the concierge team! Whether it be from checking in guests in, to helping me when I locked myself out of my apartment, to finding a missing package, the team is professional and ready to help with a smile (and in COVID-19 times,a mask). I would also like to recognize Felipe as he goes above and beyond to make living here a top of the line experience. I hope you will share my feedback with the concierge team and recognize them for their outstanding service. read more

What is a otherwise a gorgeous building is wasted on really bad management. Every person I have dealt with in upper management lacks a lot of common sense and organization to the point I've had to correct them several times in the few months I've lived here. They also have taken legitimate, serious complaints I've had and tried to gaslight me into believing things that aren't true. I've come to find out that anyone who has lived in a building Greystar manages experiences the same. So I suggest doing research on them since bad reviews on this building get deleted frequently. read more

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. I cannot possibly write enough to explain my disappointment for this property and its management. After an exciting move to Seattle to start a great career, I found what I thought was my dream home at Mckenzie. However, I quickly realized this new property is run by inconsiderate and incompetent people (besides Filipe at the front desk, he is an angel). Let me break down the issues to warn any future tenants: 1. Move out fees are outrageous: We were originally billed over $1,100 in move out fees for "normal painting" and cleaning. Because I knew Mckenzie after living there a year, I took pictures of the entire property to prove there were no damages (we hung a few pictures and did not paint anything). I overpaid last months rent which resulted in an overpayment on my account and they, without consent, took that money to pay these "standard move out fees" of $1,100. The lease does not state painting and a mandatory cleaning fee is required. Now, 55 days since I have moved out, I am still waiting for some of my overpayment to be returned, which they repeatedly tell me it is in the mail. Be prepared for a large fee to leave the property. 2. Customer service is non-existent: When we looked to resign our lease, they sent out notices telling everyone that only 18+ month leases are available. They would rather have huge turn over than have standard 12-month re-signing leases. 3. Maintenance nightmare: Within our first two months, we had horrendous rattling in our kitchen which sounded like a generator going off. After roughly 8 service requests, two months and no solution, we raised the issue to the general manager, who did then get the issue solved. But as a result, we got scolded by the maintenance team for going above their head. We lived with this unbearable noise for four months and paying over $4,000/month, I felt this was unacceptable. No apologies or sincere recourse was offered. read more

There's a trash pickup happening every morning around 3-5 a.m. and it lasts at least 15 minutes. It's like bombing when you're asleep and being woken up horribly. You reach out to the leasing office and they basically ignore you. So be ready for the bombing if you're willing to pay something above 2k for the monthly rent. Or rent at a higher floor. read more

Leased for a year here. Overall, the building is new and clean and looks nice. Gym is on the 39th floor with no real free weights besides dumbbells up to 25lbs. Resistance machines are horrible as they are air pressure controlled and overheard staff providing a tour stating these are better than free weights... just had to laugh. One staff in particular named Lily needs an attitude adjustment. Has horrible customer service and gives attitude when you ask questions or need help. Lastlyy, don't get fooled by the leasing office when you finish your lease because they will try to keep your security deposit through painting the walls even if they don't really need it. Normal wear and tear is normal and should be maintained by the landlord but we got charged when the walls were still in mint condition. They offered continuous discounts after I declined to pay for wall paint. However, the best thing about the apartment was Felipe! He was amazing and very caring for the tenants and his job. Keep it up Felipe! read more

I moved to the McKenzie in winter 2018 and could not be more satisfied with living here. For one, the hallways are quiet and I don't hear my neighbors. I like to get a good night's sleep given my demanding work week. Second, the building is impeccably clean and the staff goes out of their way to keep it like that. Third, the doormen/women are always helpful and attentive. I feel welcomed home every time I step through those doors. Maintenance is always on top of it and will address any problem that comes up in a timely manner. There are other reasons to live here: you can't beat the view from the 40th floor. The spa is an added bonus (it's beautiful, well maintained and cleaned regularly), the gym has a plethora of options for your work out and it's on the 39th FL so you get to see an amazing skyline while you're sweating it out. There are also community events on a regular basis which is nice especially if you're new and want to meet your neighbors. Last, but not least...the leasing staff is very patient and will find the right apartment for you (I went back and forth on which layout for a few weeks until I found the one lol). If you're looking for that high-end apartment rental experience where everything is within walking distance and you have amenities at your fingertips, this is the one. read more
