April was very cheery and pleasant to greet, she was alone in office and handled or tour professionally, answered all of our questions, and even with her being alone for tours she took her time and explained everything asked thoroughly! Pros - The lowest rent for a studio in SLU - Great maintenance team - Free donuts once I a while - Good interiors Cons - Next to a shelter, so lots of random noise in the night - Loud garbage truck at 8 am every morning - 6th floor is impossible to live in, because there is a common area on the 7th floor and you can hear loud thumps (please ask for what's above your apartment) - Sometimes the leasing staff can be extremely and surprisingly rude (special shout-out to the tall lady, sorry, I just had to) If you are looking for the best rent and don't care about loud noises or customer service, then go for it! read more

Update: This area is completely unsafe. I'm writing this while listening to someone scream/have a complete meltdown 10 feet from my door at 7 am. I would absolutely try to negotiate rent, we're paying about $2100 for a loft for reference. It's impossible to sleep throughout the night, there's people screaming/crying/being hysterical at all hours. It's exhausting. The leasing team is so so amazing, but nothing is worth having to deal with feeling this unsafe. read more

I was a resident for 2 years. Morgan and Jodi are top notch! Morgan was incredibly helpful at all stages, genuinely caring for any situation or needs that arise. They have policies to follow, but go above and beyond to accommodate any preferences or needs. The building is fantastic - incredibly clean and well maintained. The common areas are very nice and well kept. Our unit was wonderful, and when we had any maintenance related issue, I can't remember a time that it wasn't fixed same-day. Incredibly attentive! Having had poor experiences with other management companies in the past, this was really refreshing. No hidden fees. No surprises -at all- in the damage deposit. Nothing that came off as underhanded. I wish I could live here for 10 more years (as long as Morgan sticks around!) - truly a professional that made our experience at River excellent. read more

We recently moved from Beacon Hill because of our occupational change. Staffs on our very first days staying here welcome us with the most friendly service, which we cannot ask for more. We just found out that the location here seems to be ideal for two of us due to its convenient access to grocery, workplace, and school. We have been staying currently in one-bedroom apartment in Rivet, in which displays a spacious room for both of us. We also plan to stay long-term here since the apartment provides a pet-friendly environment for our puppy Tommie. He enjoys the place so much since he has his own living room to himself. read more

Its been 8 months I am staying in Rivet apartment. Till now its been great experience. Leasing office members are really helpful and friendly. Especially Judy and Morgan. I had all the help during the transfer from Cascade apartment to Rivet. Great price for the location. All the facilities are good. They try to solve any house issues within a day. Their gym is not the best but do have some cardio workouts. They have two days of free 1 hour Guided fitness class every week. This is a real bonus if you want to practice yoga on your busy schedule. WHAT A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I had an appointment to visit and tour this property today. Upon arriving at the property, I dialed the Leasing Office only to find my call unanswered. Immediately looking through the glass doors, I see a female person which appeared as an employee having a conversation with 2 other individuals which appeared as customers since they both had their purses in hand. After waiting a few minutes and watching this conversation continue, I slightly knocked on the glass doors to indicate I'm outside. The female employee looked at me, then looked away proceeding with her conversation. I was first in shock especially considering it was COLD outside and I left work early to come to this appointment. To my own surprise, I continued to wait partly to see how long this shame and disgrace of customer service would continue. All I expected was common decency to say to her conversation "excuse me, let me at least greet this individual and then return to her conversation after saying / have a seat and I will be right with you." Instead this person leaves me outside to stand in the bitter COLD. Finally as a person was exiting the building, I entered and stood to the side waiting for any level of body or verbal recognition that someone will tend to my presence especially since I had an appointment for a tour. That acknowledgment NEVER happened. I hope leaving this comment here and maybe going further to file an official Housing Authority Complaint will allow for accountability for this intolerable and unacceptable behavior by someone who either profiled me by my appearance or simply did not care to service my needs. Regardless, I am still in shock and will never consider renting from this property or management company. read more

Staff is friendly, but BEWARE of the location. Homeless congregate around the building and are very noisy at all hours. The building suggests nothing can be done and that the police should be called. Calling building security is also suggested as an option, but they rarely pick up. This happens every day that isn't cold / rainy. Look elsewhere if you like to sleep peacefully. read more

Yes. Rivet is as good as possible. As everyone else has said, the prices are reasonable, the apartment is new, clean and quiet, the location and access are great. But, most importantly, the staff. Helpful, professional, friendly, and patient to maximum possible. I lived there for a year and have nothing but good memories. From the all friendly Mr. Ciccone to can-do-anything Mr. See, to has-the-best-solution Mr. Ludlow and ask-me-to-clarify-anything Ms. Stanfield, this is a team to take care of your accommodation needs. One less thing on your mind to worry about. And I will be at fault not to mention the leadership of Ms. Figliola, who managed this stellar cast until very recently. This is a dog-friendly apartment. if you don't like animals or pets, this is not the best choice for you, but if you love the hairy little fairies then look no further. South Lake Union is under heavy construction, understand that in this neighborhood for the near future there would be traffic redirections and construction noises. also, the roofs are little thin so you will hear the dogs upstairs running. If you are an extremely light sleeper with low patience for any extra noise, you might want to stay away from South Lake Union area for the time being. There is a temporary housing building two blocks up. you will run into some less fortunate people from time to time, and you will find them to be minding their own business and very harmless. If you are the sort that is terrified of or can't handle people who were not as fortunate as you then perhaps it's time to reflect. The amenities are awesome, from old game machines to exercise equipment to pool table and the rooftop BBQ with a great view of SLU which will cost you a few hundred dollars at restaurants just one block away! I can't recommend this place enough and if it wasn't for my leaving the city, I would not have given it up that easily. read more

We have been living at the Rivet for one month. The leasing staff is terrific. They are there to help and help they do. Any request is handled promptly. The building is cleaned and maintained regularly. The location is great, close to work and walking distance less than 1 mile to any restaurant or supermarket. Would recommend using Uber, Lyft or public transportation. They have zip car and car 2 go right outside the door. Also, Lime Bike can be found on any block. If you are looking for a place close to the Amazon area, this is worth a visit. read more

As my one-year tenant anniversary approaches (July), I am glad that I chose to reside at Rivet Apartments in South Lake Union! Last week, I attended an ice-cream social in the skylight-scenic community club, one of the many exciting events organized by the Rivet's terrific team - big shout-out to Morgan, Trae, Issac (leasing office) and Rudy and Luis (maintenance). At the social, we enjoyed sweet treats, a couple of billiards games and great conversation - you would have thought that the staff and tenants are all good friends who've known each other for donkey's years (Cockney slang for a very long time). Previous gatherings include summer barbecues on the rooftop and pizza party in the lovely lobby. Amenities at the River are awesome, but the most remarkable feature about this apartment community is its staff. They are warm and welcoming and go the extra mile to keep tenants happy and well cared for. Thank you Team Rivet for making my first year in Seattle an amazing experience and I'm looking forward to many more! read more

I had a appointment to view the apartment and had to reschedule for a later time due to other appointments going over but we called the guy who sets up the appointments and told us it's ok and told us to just show up before 5:00 which we did. We showed up around 4:45 and the guy that let us was not the same guy on the phone and was extremely rude and said "I don't care what the other guy says, I stop giving tours at 4:30 so you can reschedule but I am not doing anymore tours and you are extremely late cause you were schedule for 4:00". Honestly such a rude guy, didn't get his name but I came on the 14th of April. Would not recommend even looking here if management is this rude. read more

My husband and I and our dog, a 45 pound German Shorthaired Pointer temporarily lived at The Rivet as part of an international transfer from London. Our apartment was furnished and provided to us by Aboda. It was a one bedroom with a queen bed, couch, chair, large flat screen TV (though no HD channels), high-top glass table and four very uncomfortable chairs. Since the apartment is furnished, I wondered about the quality of the dinnerware, flatware and cookery but all is good aside from the very dull knives. Oneida is the brand of choice for the flatware, knives and cookery whereas a non-IKEA brand is of choice for the dinnerware. In fact, nothing in this apartment is from IKEA which is totally amazing in itself. All appliances are Whirlpool. The actual spec of the apartment is good. It feels really solidly built and though the floors look like hardwood, they are actually some sort of vinyl composite, so that is better for anyone who has a dog and is worried about the dog's nails scratching the wood floor. It's not possible to scratch the vinyl composite flooring here. Our apartment was on the corner of the building, directly above reception. In a nutshell, it was hot, stuffy and loud. The most significant noise comes from Mercer St. where cars zoom up Mercer St as it is the only way to traverse from downtown to First Hill/Capitol Hill easily. Additionally, cars zoomed up the on-ramps to the I-5. Then there were semi trucks slamming on their brakes as they exited onto Mercer St from the I-5. Buses are constantly going past the apartment. Fire sirens from firetrucks. Police sirens. Just very noisy from a traffic perspective. And this noise is 24 hours a day and exists even with the windows closed. At times we were able to hear the people above us but overall, noise from other tenants was a non-issue. As for the windows, only the bottom 2ft of our windows opened and even when opened at max distance, they only opened a few inches. This was definitely not enough for a breeze to come through. Without the ability to open windows, the apartment is constantly hot and stuffy. The first week in this apartment, the temperature was over 80 degrees inside with no way to lower it as there is no a/c. The outside temperatures during that time was mid-60's. I don't see any feasible way of living here during the summer months, or apparently during the fall months either. Two other important things to note. First, there is a business called 1-800 Water Damage that is located across the street from the Rivet and this business causes a great deal of noise during the day (or perhaps the plot of land that 1-800 Water Damage resides on is actually being used by the construction company of the high-rise currently under construction around the block; I can't tell and it doesn't matter). Employees arrive at 5am and start moving construction debris from one dumpster to another. Throughout the morning and day, you will hear an onslaught of debris dumping into the dumpster along with the reverse 'beeping' noise from Caterpillar machinery. I was mostly unable to work from the apartment due to the noise which is a problem since I am a remote employee of my company. Second, a homeless shelter is directly next door to the Rivet. Though harmless, there are homeless people milling around the apartment and in the area into the late evening hours. As I write this review, there is a man grasping the pole of a stop sign (located right outside the Rivet's main entrance) and grunting and yelling loudly. He clearly has mental issues, however, no one has stopped to assist him. People just walk by and stare. Another thing to note is that a good majority of this building is temporary housing for people who have been relocated to Seattle, so there is a constant rotation of people, and some of those people may have less respect for their neighbors than people who are long-term residents here (e.g. noise). The dog area on the roof is simply a toilet for dogs. Any respectable dog will not play in this area because dogs don't usually play where they defecate. It's sort of like a shallow pool filled with mulch and is kind of buoyant when you walk on it. Our dog is apparently too good to poop there, so we've been forced to take him on walkies around the neighborhood to go poo which he doesn't really care for either. I think he just misses Hampstead Heath in London. If you are looking for a long-term rental, then I'd really think long and hard about renting at the Rivet. read more

Firstly let's talk about the good things: The floor plans are functional, there is in unit laundry available, the staff is friendly, the style looks modern and clean, and the rooftop is AMAZING. The luxer package system is cool and keeps your packages secure. There is trash conveniently located in the mailroom for you to toss advertisements. The maintenance team is respectful and responsive. Now onto the things that shaped my decision to rent from somewhere else once my lease is finished: For raising a family, the location is terrible. Homelessness is one thing, but the drug epidemic surrounding all areas of the building is another. Literal drug deals of meth and heroine happens in broad daylight right in front of the apartment, there are multiple prostitutes that hang outside at night, and it feels very unsafe to walk past the crowds of people who are high. (Especially with my kiddo.) When I leased the apartment from out of state the photo from the rooftop pictured the space needle... imagine my surprise when the view was blocked by a building and nobody even warned us! The whole point of renting here was for the view. Bummer. The rent is expensive for what you get although the office will tell you it's not, plus the $200/mo parking is not secure even though there is a gate. One of the homeless people went through the gate before it closed and I called security who didn't answer the call. There is no A/C (like most apartments in Seattle) but there is only one tiny window in the apartment that opens about 6" out, sooo not much airflow. The "gym" consists of a bike and treadmill which is inaccessible due to COVID... as well as the entire den area. Those common spaces are included in our rent and we can't use them? Lastly, if you get an apartment facing Minor Ave, expect to hear rowdy druggies and fights ALL night when the weather is mild/nice. The be all and end all is, it's ok. If you live near rufus 1.0 and don't need a car to commute then go for it, but other than that I don't see why anyone would justify staying here. read more

Very noisy and loud, there are always a large group of homeless people hanging outside of the apartment, playing loud music and yelling. If you want to sleep at night, have to wear earplugs to be able to fall asleep. Loud and noisy ALL THE TIME. There are many apartment options out there, stay away if you ever want to sleep or be quite in your life. read more

I had a terrible experience living in the Rivet apartment. If you are looking for a new apartment, there is much better apartments all around SLU for your consideration. First, the 'gym' or 'fitness corner' is such a joke because it only has two to three equipments, comparing to other apartments I have ever seen this is so frugal and cheap. Then I have to pay extra amount of money every month for outside gym membership. Second, there is homeless people living next door as your neighbor. I have to walk around to avoid taking the Minor Ave because of homeless people. During night, I feel unsafe walking on the street with homeless people living nearby and occasionally screaming at night. Third, from Day 1 I moved into the apartment, there is non-stop and continuous construction sites near the building. This is not friendly to people who is sensitive to noise especially during the early morning. Last, the most important thing is the leasing team, they won't stand on your side to help you. read more

Living at Rivet is great! The prices are very reasonable for the (very expensive) South Lake Union area. The staff is a godsend - they are SO helpful and patient. We have a new 1 year old puppy who gets separation anxiety and barks a lot if he's home alone. The staff has been really patient while we work through this, and we are so thankful for their cooperation. The common areas are really well maintained and the views from the rooftop are amazing! Also, it is a short walk to Amazon and the downtown area (which is convenient when we have relatives in town)! My only complaint is that there is a LOT of construction in the area which makes it hard to get around sometimes, but that's not Rivet's fault. Would recommend 100%! read more

First of all this is an Amazon housing building. Most of the people coming here are for long term or transitional housing. I came up for the week not realizing it is more of an apartment than hotel. Do not expect room service! If I would have known I would have prepared differently. That being said it is a nice place. Good appliance, mildly firm beds, and close walking distance to work. I rented with them in 2017 and twice I recd a electricity bill of $200+ for 2 months. I had rented out a 1 bedroom apartment and I was the single occupant in the apartment. It was impossible for me to have recd such a enormous bill. when I informed the management , they did nothing about it. I was out of country for better part of 2 months so getting an electricity bill of $200+ was impossible. I requested city light folks to come and check the matter. The city light folks then inform me that I am being billed for my apartment + 3 doors down. This is clearly a miss at the management end if they don't know what meter belongs to what apartment. In this case , they should not be in the apartment renting business. I have now moved out of the apartment for obvious reasons and they still haven't fixed the issue. I am still in talks with city light for the $200+ bill that they have put on my name after a year. Agreed that the government officials are slow in responding, but the management does nothing to help you. I feel harassed as a single woman having to deal with this issue and make daily phone calls to city light all because the management is careless. Stay away from this apartment management ! read more
