The moving process was super easy the staff are really friendly and helpful and they always are open to answering any questions that you have or any help that you need. I have been able to make my loft apartment a home and also raise my daughter! The property is in a perfect location right in the heart of South-lake Union there's a very cute park across the street as well. The staff and management of alceyone apartments are always on top of everything and if anything ever happens they are very communicative with everything they make sure that no one is left in the dark. Alcyone Apartments - My beautiful loft that I have made a home! Very much industrial New York vibes. - Apartments Near Me - Seattle, Washington

TLDR: The management here is definitely far from great. Zero compensation and played dead for the severe water damages that made my unit inhabitable. Here's the timeline: - Day 1: Moved in. - Day 16 (Friday): Water started to pour from my ceiling at 3 a.m. on a workday morning. Tried calling the emergency maintenance and no one showed up. Thanks to SFD they stopped more water from draining and vacuumed most water from my unit. Later Someone with keys finally showed up after SFD called the apartment, which was like two hours after my roommate and I called them. We had almost no sleep trying to save our personal items and dealing with the mess in our unit. Later we called the apartment during business hours and they said they will have technicians putting fans and dehydrators in our unit. After coming back from work, I was surprised to find out the apartment did NOTHING to restore our unit. Ironically, I do see a lot of fans and dehydrators for the lobby and the lounge. I had to sleep in the moist and stinky room cause I was too tired to find another place. - Day 17 (Saturday): Finally found and got to talk to Marie, the manager, in person. She eventually got some fans in our unit and promised to have emails sent out to keep us updated. Also, they will have a technician team to assess whether they need to perform a major construct (which is going to take multiple weeks) for our unit. HOWEVER, they were clear that they offer NO compensation, NO temporary unit change, and also NO concession for rents. If we wanted to change to a similar 2b2b unit permanently, we had to pay an extra $400/month because they just recently raised the market price. If we chose to live in a hotel, we had to argue with the renter's insurance ourselves, which happened to have no one answering the phone during weekends. Either way, we were very disappointed that they acted like it wasn't their responsibility that our lives were seriously affected. Glad we had a friend's place to crash. - Day 18 (Sunday): Office closed. Guess we were on our own. Our carpets were still wet and stink. - Day 19 (Monday): Never received any updates from Marie or the management team unless we ask them first. After emailing Marie she told us the inspection team assessment has no result and will assess again tomorrow. I will update whenever I get an update. read more

THE BORDERLINE UNETHICAL and CUSTOMER EXPLOITATION PRACTICES. The management is absolutely the worst. I have toured over 20+ properties in person and I can say with absolute confidence that they are the worst so far. Here's more about the bad experience I had with them: - When I toured the apartment and was ready to apply for the lease, they asked me to do this online on their website - While applying online, their system locked me out, I was asked to come to their office and pay for the application fee ($42) and security deposit ($600) with checks - I did not want to lose the deal and went in person on a Sunday, I got a cold response, the Lady working there told me she had a lot of work and might not be able to even deposit the checks to their other office which is like less than 2 minutes walk away - The next I was informed about their income eligibility: they require 3X of the rent as a monthly income. They never even cared to tell me this before or while applying. - The same day their management office gave me an ultimatum to either get someone else on the lease to reach the income criteria or lose any claim to the apartment although I had already applied. - Unless they receive confirmation of sufficient income by 4 pm the same day (literally 4-hour deadline), they will shred the security check I have given them and I lose any claim to the apartment - THE Borderline Unethical and Customer Exploitation: Although I had not given them any confirmation whatsoever, they deposited the check for the security deposit ($600), are you kidding me???? Who gave you the right to do so??? Now I will have to waste more time with their pathetic management to get my money back. Proof: Even though I had not given confirmation within their crazy short 4 hours ultimatum earlier, they kept spamming me. As you can see by Dec 19, i haven't given any confirmation. But they already deposited the check on Dec 13 without my approval!!!! read more

Drug dealers, aggressive mentally ill and vagrants dominate the park across from The Alcyone and the streets around the building. Two stabbings in 6 months, multiple fights and I have been personally threatened twice now. Seattle Police Department is unresponsive to 911 calls. Until this situation is cleared up look for another neighborhood. =========== After 3 months at Alcyone I'm pretty happy. The views are great and my neighbors are super quiet. Dog owners are pretty respectful of other tenants. The staff is super friendly. If you need furniture delivered they will handle that while you're at work. I had a couch and bed delivered and set up while I was at work. The common areas are very clean and you see maintenance out and about on a daily basis. read more

As the South Lake Union neighborhood has evolved and changed, the team at Alcyone has still managed to provide awesome customer service and a great experience in the 4 years I've lived there. They do their best to make sure me and my neighbors are well taken care of, and have a great place to come home to every day. You definitely never forget you're in the heart of the city (and all that that entails), but with the park, the small shops and restaurants nearby, it is a really walkable neighborhood, while also being great for commutes to the east side and other parts of the city. (p.s. they're located in the ACTUAL geographical center of Seattle.) read more

My sister and I have been living at Alcyone Apartments for 7 months and we absolutely love it! The building is perfectly located to the bus stop we need as well as other amenities (drug store, Asian market, cafes, REI, UPS). We love watching the pups play in the park across the street. And the staff is super friendly, kind and helpful. I tend to ask a lot of questions (I am new to the apartment lifestyle) and I am always met with honesty and kindness. As a real type of person, this is VERY appreciated. And if the staff doesn't know an answer to one of my many questions, they take the time to figure it out with me. Another HUGE plus. When we first moved in, we submitted a lot of requests through the portal (also very handy) in getting to know the apartment space and building. Each request was responded to promptly. I cannot explain how appreciative I am of that. Another plus are the community activities that are organized by the staff (recycling/composting, pup gatherings, holiday celebrations, ice cream socials, BBQs, etc.). I moved to Seattle from the midwest (my sister from the east coast). Those activities make us feel a part of the community, which is nice since we knew no one in Seattle apart from my boyfriend. The only complaint I have is the 2nd entrance to the building. We live on the North side of the apartment complex. When having groceries or food delivered to our apartment, almost every person goes to the main entrance instead of the secondary one. It would be super helpful if the main entrance could be listed on the building as "301-A Minor Ave N" and the 2nd entrance could be "301-B Minor Ave N". Other than that, I have no complaints! I am so very grateful to live in such a wonderful community complex! 100% recommend this apartment community. I feel communication is well done here, which is very important to me. I would highly recommend Alcyone, it's a great place to live in! The staff is super-friendly and accommodating. I lived there for 2 years, and any time I had a request or a question I was always met with honesty and being provided straight answers to my questions which is what any customer can look for. Of course with any apartment community there might be some pet peeves and things that could come up while living in a new place. If you just behave like a human-being and voice any concerns about anything, you will be helped. For example, I had an issue where I didn't have any windows that open because my apartment has a patio and the only way to get some air would be to open the patio door. They were able to coordinate installing sliding windows for the unit which was great especially during the summer. I ended up moving to a different community because I simply wanted more square footage, but if you're looking for good value per square footage, in the midst of SLU in Seattle, would be a very good option for any single homes or small families. The only gripe I have is that in the summer it gets super warm in the building so it would be nice if they installed A/C, but luckily summers and heat in Seattle is very short a month or two a year. Buy a portable A/C unit and it should handle some of the heat (but not all of it). read more

I have been really happy with the Alcyone community. Marie and Joshua are the best community managers I have ever met and have always been around for any issues. There are couple of instances where their support really made difference. Once I met a small accident in the lobby when the glass table top happen to fall on my foot. Marie and Joshua immediately rushed for help. While Marie was comforting me, Joshua was looking for immediate health care numbers. They were with me literally the whole time till my brother came for taking care of me. Another incident I remember was when I had given the keys to Marie for the copy and she had asked me to collect before 5 Pm since it was Saturday. I went out and when I came back it was late. When I called Marie and let her knew there was no way I could get in, she came all the way from Kent just to handle me the keys. I was full of gratitude. Thank you again Marie. I would highly recommend Alcyone to anyone because of the great staff. Also, the community has been quick in addressing issues with refrigerators, drains, and lighting. read more

I have been in US for about 4 years now and moved between cities and stayed in various apartments but I had the most comfortable conversations with Marie and the Alcyone team. The way the Alcyone management treats their customers (residents) is top notch! I have never had any problems during my stay because the management was very active in addressing every issue promptly. There were at least two times when Marie went above and beyond (we misplaced keys and we're locked out when she drove far late in the evening to help us out; once my sister was hurt in a minor accident in lobby Joshua and Marie took great care of her until I could come back to comfort her). I have lived here for the past 8 months and couldn't be more grateful to live here. It is very close to Amazon offices, bus line to Downtown, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill, and all nearby neighbourhoods. There are constructions but it is really not that disturbing since they start and finish during office hour. The unit itself is really spacious and have quartz countertops for both kitchen and the bathroom. I lived on the 7th floor so the ceiling is high, making the house looks even bigger. There is enough space in both closets and washer and dryer are inside. Marie and Josh (and now Richard) is genuinely very helpful people. They are always quick to help. The office always have consistent hours, making it accesible all the time. My package never went missing in this apartment since they always give it to the office. Overall, it is a nice experience to live here. It is great for people who wants to live close to office and downtown building and I recommend it! read more

I really love this place. Josh and Marie are great. This is city living, it can be noisy, you'll encounter people who may not look like you, but if you respect your fellow Cascade neighbors, good or bad, they'll respect you back. The apartments are a great value for SLU, and close to everything. Yes, construction noise, but the windows are pretty much soundproof. We have a nine month old, and I feel more than okay walking her around the neighborhood. The typical high rises are a block away, but I appreciate having green space so close. read more

We've lived in a 2 bedroom here for 3 years and counting. The location, services, affordability and views were the reasons we moved in back in 2009. Rent has increased in line with other apartment buildings in the area. South Lake Union is a sought after neighborhood with tons of new amenities sprouting up daily. The pros very much outweigh the cons. The staff is very helpful and dry-cleaning/packages/shipping can all be done at the front desk (usually open 7 days a week). The gym and cascade room are nice amenities and the building is dog friendly/non smoking. The building has great sound-proofing and is well insulated against the elements. Maintenance is helpful and prompt. Pros: - location location location - amenities: gym, office, shared spaces, pool table, shared balconies - friendly staff - good upkeep - street parking, tons of it for now, not like lower queen anne Things to know: - rent goes up every year %5-10 (unavoidable in most rentals) - parking stalls are somewhat small and someone dented my car without leaving a note, it happens - living downtown means you share the neighborhood with people of all types, from yuppie frat-boys to the homeless. It comes with the territory and I find it more interesting because of the diversity. - garbage/water/sewer are billed together. water/sewer is based on your hot water usage and garbage is split between 161 units (vacant or not), fair enough Overall I'd recommend the Alcyone for anyone who wants to live close to downtown, enjoys being part of a great community and can afford it. read more

They claim to be wheelchair accessible (via elevators)- HOWEVER, during fire drills, or actual emergencies, the elevators get SHUT DOWN, leaving anyone in a wheelchair STRANDED and unable to leave the building! When management was confronted, they were SO uncomfortable with even just saying the WORD "disabled", and then said "the firemen will just come and get you.." WHAT??? CLUELESS! read more

I just moved out of Alcyone in order to move back to the east coast, but I really enjoyed my time here. The staff is top-notch... everyone from the leasing professionals to the maintenance workers were really nice. They were very easy to deal with during move-out. This place is close to almost literally everything you could need, from dentists to grocery stores and gyms. Most of the residents I interacted with were really pleasant, and my neighbors were really quiet. The one thing I found interesting was that once I gave them my notice to move out, they raised the monthly rental rate on my apartment by about $400 per month. Though the price is high (especially since this building doesn't have A/C), you get a lot for your money. read more

We lived at Alcyone for a little over a year and had a great experience. We were a bit nervous moving into a building like this, having only lived in houses and duplexes previously. But Shannon (property manager) and her staff go out of their way to make residents feel at home - always friendly, responsive to our needs, and professional. They also throw great parties and make efforts to build community. The building is beautifully maintained, and well constructed so we never had any noise from inside neighbors. The neighborhood can be noisy though, especially on the southwest side of the building - if we had stayed we would have moved to the other side. Overall, highly recommended if you want to live in SLU, especially if you have a dog and want to live in a nice environment - it's a very dog friendly building with a park across the street, and our dog had lots of friends in the building. read more

May 2019 update: After Harbor Steps, I almost moved back to Alcyone. I ended up in Uwajimaya in Chinatown. It was meh. Found a two-story "townhome" for $2300. Parking was over $200. The trains were a bit loud, but you get used to it. The fans above the grocery store were a bigger problem. Not enough insulation on the windows. Try to get a unit in the interior, or not above a big vent. After a year I moved to West Seattle. Dirt-cheap tiny apartment for $1350. Loved it. Ended up moving out of state after that. I lived here for a ~4 years when I first graduated from college. It is a pretty nice and new apartment in a great location. My only complaints: * The tap water in my unit was awful, so I had to use a purifier. Normally Seattle tap water is just fine, so something was wrong. * When I moved out, I was hit with a cleaning fee. That seemed unfair, since I had paperwork showing that I paid a cleaning fee on the way in. I called to try to get it sorted out but the person was combative and I ended up just paying it to avoid a ding on my credit. read more

if you are searching for an apartment in Seattle, you are about to spend a lot of money for a box to live in. If you are considering Alcyone, keep looking. We lived there for a year and pretty much regretted it from Day 1. Here are some of the daily issues we dealt with: Dogs barking echoes in halls Could hear Neighbor's TV and music through walls Could hear Neighbor above when they drop items No matter what they tell you, the units get super hot in summer. Need AC Also very cold in winter to the point we had to run a space heater, and the front door to street had a draft to the point dirt would enter the unit Lease agent was not 100% honest with us about extent of construction activity; Construction activity noise all year from 5am to 11pm, to build another Equity property - same owners as Alcyone. You could smell the food being cooked in other units. Very low water pressure in shower, low water use heads The washer did not get clothes clean, and it was supposedly a new unit. High rent for the area. Small kitchen with little cabinet space, as well as small fridge Cell Phones (verizon) did not work in the units well. had to buy a booster. Sheer number of homeless due to park and food bank and AA meetings at the church. This was probably one of the biggest issues as dog owners. The homeless live in the park. Regardless of what they tell you. There are homeless and needles everywhere! Hope this helps you. read more

I have now lived here for over 6 months and I adore Alcyone! I looked at just about every apartment complex in South Lake Union before deciding to move into Alcyone. No apartment complex is for everyone. However, if you are looking for a place in SLU that is LEED certified, environmentally focused, quiet (I have not had ANY issues with noise here and I live above the Irish Pub), clean, modern and near a park, this is a great option! The neighborhood has been growing quickly and Alcyone has done a great job at organizing events and awareness for strengthening the neighborhood. I love that my front door becomes the summer Farmer's Market. All of the renters that I have met have been such lovely people. Management is extremely responsive and the technology in the building is up to date and helpful. The maintenance guy is incredible and always willing to help me out (yeah, I seem to break things a lot;)). Great apartments, great price. I've lived in a lot of apartments and the quality for the price here is awesome. Even though square footage is smaller than I've lived in, the Windows makes it feel open and large. The apartment is also extremely quiet and though near the freeway, it's soundproof when I close my window. My neighbors are all very polite and quiet. I also love a gym in the complex- though I do wish it had air conditioning because it is usually very stuffy and does not have a water fountain. The park is a pro and con of this place. Having a dog, it is awesome to be able to walk across the street with her. The negative is that I don't feel safe going there at night because of the homeless population and some illegal activity. Especially with winter coming and the days getting shorter, this will definitely be a big damper. Either way, I'd recommend this place. South lake Union is an awesome place to live if you want to live in the city but have some space. Also, the woman who work in the front office are awesome!!!!!!!! read more

This apartment complex is in the heart of South Lake Union (SLU) and in walking distance to almost all parts of the city. SLU is growing very quickly, with new bars, restaurants and shops popping up monthly. If you enjoy being in the middle of everything, this is a great place. There is a nice gym and convenient part across the street. Best part, they are very pet friendly. one caveat: it's in a neighbor that's growing quickly - so there are a handful of construction projects. But that's expected is city like Seattle. read more

This is the second equity apartment complex I've lived in and I can't say enough good things! The location can't be beat (especially for fellow Amazonians), the office staff is insanely friendly, and the apartments are wonderful! Josh and Marie are some of the most genuine and helpful leasing agents I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Even with construction and the park across the street the noise is very manageable. We've never had any issues with our first floor apartment, even though we were initially concerned about people bothering us (this is the heart of a major city after all). Note: This review was based on living at Alcyone Apts. when they were managed by Riverstone Residental 2013 to 2014. They have since switched to a different company. Utilities - Overall, my experience living at Alcyone has been what I'd call "okay." I think there are a few major flaws in the building, primarily the way staff can gloss over what the actual cost of utilities will be each month. This is not transparent when you first sign your lease. Saying "Oh, your water bill may average $80 a month" is quite different from what the bill will actually cost you once you're a resident. The rent is already on the high side, but when you add in the cost of utilities, it's astronomical, and grossly overpriced for what you get. We had numerous issues with receiving our WSG (water, sewer, garbage) bill from YES Energy Mgmt and it was to the point it was ridiculous. During our time there we lived in one of the larger lofts and even when we'd try and consume less water (2 ppl in the unit) the monthly "rate" for the WSG would change. This was a HUGE source of headache and seemed to be an issue for anyone living in a loft with more than 1 person. Lack of Windows in the units - Living in the loft was "cool" and something we jumped at for the amount of space we were able to get. We lived on the alley side that has garage doors off the patio for the loft. This seemed cool at first moving to Seattle in the summer, but we quickly learned that the garage door offered the only "window" for the unit that actually opened. It was stuffy and became annoying having to open the door to actually get some air flow into the unit. On top of that, we realized that in the winter the "cool" garage door became an entire wall that wasn't insulated in the winter. Such a pain in the butt as we moved a space heater around the unit to offer some warmth. Bugs - Another issue was the insane amount of fruit flies that just appeared out of nowhere. We had to end up using the red wine trick in the kitchen to catch the flies. When you're paying that much in rent it's very annoying to have flies. Construction - Oh, and let's not forget about the constant 24/7 construction in SLU. Nonstop. The entire 13 months we lived at Alcyone there was constant construction around us. Neighborhood - The area is growing, but still a mix of Amazon and homeless people who live in the park across the street from Alcyone. For the most part I never had any issues with the homeless people in the park, but it was frustrating and alarming the number of people who camped out and lived there. I saw families, drug addicts, prostitutes... it was interesting to say the least. They never bothered me, but I was always very aware of my surroundings and the times I'd be in the park. I also remember there being a problem with people getting their windows broken out of their cars, but that's an overall Seattle problem in some neighborhoods, not unique to SLU. We still have friends who live at Alcyone and they have said the management switch was a HUGE help for some of the service issues. read more

I've lived here 1 1/2 years, and have looked at the reviews on this and other sites. PROS: Modern apartments, low utility bills, great community center with bbq, pool table and HD TV. Gym covers the basic aerobics and free weights & multiple weight machines. Management is open 7 days and is very personable, addressing issues promptly. Elevators work, there is bike storage. It is easy to get to downtown and I-5 & express lanes. CONS: There is a recording studio that gets loud, but tends to stop around 11pm. Glass recycling is noisy in the mornings and there is some siren noise from emergency vehicles. There isn't any air flow in apartments due to high efficiency design (gets warm in summer, but you save $ in winter). Pet friendly may mean you are next to mindless barking dogs, so hope this isn't you. Parking on the streets converted to pay parking, which can be hard to find. Nearby construction also takes up potential spaces. Parking in the underground garage is usually alright, but spaces are tiny and people can hog up parking thanks to their Ray Charles parking skills. But really, these are minor annoyances and not factors driving me to move. Really, most people saying "never live here" are going to complain everywhere! Million dollar lots have problems too (when I lived in a Sammamish house, a rich dude nearby flew a HELICOPTER all the time). You have to be realistic living in a city and have to have some tolerance for city living! This is definitely a place worth considering. Those that are complaining will give negative stars to any place they stay. read more

My experience with Alcyone started on a great note two years ago. I moved here from the east coast by car, and Marie (property manager) helped me and my husband get into our new home every step of the way before we even got to see it for the first time. Marie and her team are dedicated, customer-focused professionals that are always willing to help with any reasonable issue. Whenever we've had an issue with an appliance or light fixture, the team was always able to support the issue in a reasonable amount of time. The only reason we have decided to leave is to be closer to people we know in other neighborhoods. If I could take the property management team with me to my new home, I would. We will miss them! The apartment I had was spacious for a 1BR (by Seattle standards). The property features a lovely community room with WiFi and cable (you can rent this by the hour), and a terrace on the 6th floor with a community garden. The gym is nice, but was nicer after they added an AC unit. The location is great for people that are new to Seattle, or for new employees in the neighborhood. With Capitol Hill, downtown, Seattle Center, and Lake Union all within walking distance, you couldn't find a better place to land. Any negatives with living here are things that can't be controlled like the traffic, constant construction in SLU, and lack of an affordable grocery store nearby. read more

Alcyone is quite nice. I was there about two and a half years and it was entirely pleasant. Pros: * Staff is quite awesome. Very responsive to any questions, willing to help me out with various chores (stamps for mail, dry cleaning), and extremely friendly. * Grounds are kept up extremely well. Maintenance is there pretty much every day tidying things up. * Quiet. I think I only heard other residents once during the summer through some open windows. * Reasonable rent, no crazy rent hikes at the end of a lease * Apartment was kept up well, good fixtures Cons: * Location is getting a lot better but there's some mildly shady locals and homeless folks wandering around. I never felt threatened but it certainly reminds you that you're in a city. read more

Alcyone is a great apartment building in the middle of SLU that has so much more of a peaceful neighborhood vibe than other communities I've toured. It has some traditional layouts, but many really cool and unique ones as well! The staff is also terrific. Jon, the leasing consultant consistently went above and beyond what I've come to expect at most other places to help me and I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a result. read more
