This is your typical dim sum takeout place. Would say this place is old school family recipes as they have a variety of products I have not seen in years that most places do not carry. I did not expect to see Bai Tang Gao 白糖糕, Put Chai Gao 缽仔糕 or two types of youtiao. This alone is worth the trip. I had their shrimp dumpling which seems be to a popular item. Stopped by around 3 PM to pick up dim sum and had a very disappointing experience. The staff member who helped me was unwelcoming and seemed unhappy to be there. The food appeared old, and it felt like I was being sold the last batch. I spent about $30 and asked if I could dine in, but was told no--even though the restaurant was completely empty. That explanation didn't make sense to me. Unfortunately, this left a bad impression and I won't be returning. At a relatively brisk pace, at least for me, I was actually walking by with my steamed chicken from Pho Nation in tow. I noticed a small crowd was waiting outside this spot, and it made me think this must be a local favorite for dim sum. My curiosity was peaked, so I snuck in to see what they had to sell. It turned out the crowd of people was just a crowd of people and had nothing to do with this spot. Tonight, I decided to get some food from the hot trays in front of the restaurant. Chow mein $7 an order (they also sell a smaller box for $5), pork chop $7 an order and a sticky rice with chicken wrapped in lotus leaf $3.85. If you go a few blocks down, the prices are lower. I walked up and down this street looking at all the dim sum options available and THERE WERE PLENTY but nothing looked quite as fresh and no other place had this many variety. There was also a steady line of customers. Most of the workers here speak Cantonese and a couple know enough English. I have no idea why people are giving this place less a low star rating. It has some chili oil in it, so watch out. Just a minor kick. Egg yolk buns -- in the realm of egg yolk buns, this one is just a-ok. Not terrible, not the best. They have black sesame jelly rolls which are fantastic and their huge chicken buns, not the small ones, have egg, Chinese sausage and chicken, all delicious melded together! I have many foodie friends, and they loved the variety of veggies served for lunch, but one needs to know what to order as they offer foods off menu. All the bad parallel parking, mixed in with people walking in their PJ, folks yelling back and forth next to each other, delivery trucks doubling parking, and the Vietnamese, Mexican, and subway restaurant here and there.(?) And then there's Dim Sum. Now I miss Jade dynasty back home (I know you're going to read that review) and wanted some good morsels. Picture a small dim sum restaurant. You know the small entrance way and over to the side are the display windows. A streamline and at the end the baked goods. In the front window, are all the bamboo steamer baskets. The menu board right over the counter and big tray stands in the back. You can never go wrong with shrimp dumplings (unless allergic to seafood), har gau, char sui, zhaliang, sesame seed balls, shu mai, all the good stuff. I got it all ooh plus rice cakes. If it was suppose to be crispy? It was crispy. If it was suppose to be gooey? It was gooey. If it was suppose to be savory? It was savory. Everything I got was compact with taste. I would give 5 stars but I deduct one because the steam rice roll with 2 sauces was really dry. We asked for more sauce. I suggest to give and make a soysauce sauce to go with it. Never had the food. I actually just stick with prom and shrimp siu Mai. They have steamed and fried. I have tried different dim sum down San Bruno and by far I think this is the best. Both orders I've tried have oil but don't feel overly oily. Wrapped well so I doesn't dissolve easily. The taste is great. They are inconsistent with how they sell you your order. Sometimes it's a plastic bag and fork. Other times it's a plastic container. The women are somewhat friendly. One is very sweet. The other is blunt and short. She will make you wait, tell you they run out and just overall cold when serving you. But for a cheaper tasty order, I'll deal with her for 5 minutes. read more

I don't get the bad reviews. Were you expecting to enter a fast paced to-go dim sum restaurant that was going to provide you excellent customer service and speak English to you fluently? Good luck! This is one of the best to-go dim sum spots and I'm also going to say they have the best siu mai, ha gow, and lo mai gai in the city. The siu mai is bite-size, flavorful, and not overly fatty. I'm not a fan of the bigger siu mai with extra fat like how they make it at a lot of places. They make it perfect here and I don't enjoy eating siu mai anywhere else. For the ha gow, the skin is not super thick + doesn't crack/break, and the shrimp filling is flavorful. The lo mai gai is wrapped at a good size, it's not heavy on the sticky rice, and the filling is also packed with flavor. Other food I like to order/recommend trying: Chicken Feet, Steamed Spareribs, Pork & Preserved Egg Porridge (you can call in to order it to be made in the kitchen in advance -- I like to add extra preserved egg to mine at an extra charge), and their various Chinese steamed buns and pastries. read more
