We left a day early due to numerous black big ants In the bathroom and kitchen. We paid $560 for what was suppose to be 3 nights. We left a day early so only one night. We complained and reluctantly, we were given $100 credit. Will never go back. read more

We've found our mountain home away from home!! I'm so happy to have found this place. It's exactly what I was looking for. We were in awe driving in. There's parking in front of the inn for maybe 8 cars which is plenty since there aren't many rooms here. We got in around 8pm on a Friday evening. TJ, the owner that lives at the inn, met us and showed us to our room, The Fireside. It was roomy enough for the three of us. We drove around the corner for dinner but should have walked since it was literally just around the corner. We didn't realize how close shopping and restaurants were. We talked with other guests and enjoyed marshmallows by the fire-pit after dinner. One other guest, a 12 year old young man was having a blast roasting marshmallows in his engineered marshmallow oven (Great place for kids by the way). It felt like we were staying with friends. After dinner and fire pit, my son and I sat on the patio for a while and Ivory, the inn pup came over to greet us and get a few belly rubs. Sweet, sweet dog. The grounds are nicely kept with beautiful landscaping. The lower rooms have their own patio sitting areas and the upper levels have a deck. There's also a deck by the river with tables and chairs, and benches throughout the length of the property by the river as well. The river was really rolling since we've had so much rain. So relaxing. In our room there was a larger than mini but smaller than full size fridge, microwave and coffee maker as well as utensils and dishes. Everything was clean and organized. Bed was comfy and my son said the sofa bed was cozy. We woke up early and enjoyed coffee and muffins from our room out by the river. We watched the morning fog fade away with the sunrise. What a gem! We stumbled upon this property while driving from Miami to New York as the wife doesn't like flying. Terry and TJ were the perfect hosts and went beyond nice offering information about the area and our road trip. The room was special with timber furniture and a lovely gas fireplace. The bed was great and the sheets extremely clean and inviting - a must for a good stay! The setting on the river was so picturesque and calming. Excellent experience at this place with my wife and 8 month old daughter! The owner, TJ, is extremely friendly and accommodating. We actually needed to cancel the third of our three night stay, so we could split up our drive home rather than have our daughter suffer through a straight 8 hour drive. I would have been happy to pay for the final night as I know this is a small business - I hope TJ was able to find someone else to rent our room for the final night. In any event, this place has a beautiful, wooden, rustic feel with very spacious and clean rooms. The Inn sits right along the river, so the scenery is amazing as soon as you step outside or look out the window. They have several very friendly cats and dogs that hang out around the lodge, and they set up nightly camp fires in the fire pit out front for guests to huddle around and socialize. The Inn itself is only a few blocks walk to the town of Dillsboro, which has a number of great restaurants and little shops. It is also the destination of one of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad stops, so you can catch the trains hanging out in the town if you time it just right. Overall, I highly recommend a stay in this beautiful area. I would be more than happy to return and stay here the next time I visit the Great Smoky Mountains and/or the surrounding area! read more

Although only for a night, it was a magical stay along the Tuck River just steps into the quaint town of Dillsboro. We were visiting WCU and looking for a comfy stay that was unique to the area. TJ and his pups were great hosts. We enjoyed a fireside chat while playing fetch with one of his furry family. The rooms were spacious and the beds and linens were super comfy with ample pillows. I would love to bring friends and family here when it's warmer after a day of rafting on the river. read more

I can't stop smiling. I'm here for a quick weekend getaway. We arrived later than we planned, but T.J. was amazingly accommodating even though we pulled in around 10:30pm. He met us in the driveway and showed us around our room - he seems like a great gentleman. The Fireside Room is a gorgeous one bedroom/one bath room with a nice sitting area and a fireplace; they called it their efficiency but with a nearly full sized fridge and a microwave and the larger-than-expected bathroom, it's the size of a nice hotel room. The room appears new - the floor to ceiling wood walls are gorgeous, and the tile work is nice as well. There are screen doors as well as a portable A/C unit with a remote - genius! But keep the screen doors open because you can hear the waterfall from the bed . I can't wait for the nightly bonfire tomorrow when we can enjoy it, although there were other guests gathered around it as we arrived. Now, this isn't a bed and breakfast, so there are only coffee and light snacks available in the room for breakfast. But there are cute restaurants in town, which are all within walking distance. Looking forward to a dip in the river and a soak in the hot tub as well. I can't think of anything that would make this place better. read more

The Dillsboro Inn is nothing short of magical. My husband, two children and I came in to town for a funeral. When we pulled in we were stunned. This Inn is serenity to the max. The Owner, TJ, greeted us along with his two sweet pups and cat. My son and TJ's dog, Ivory, quickly became the best of buds, following each other everywhere. TJ stroke up great conversation and had us laughing instantly, which we greatly needed. We were shown our "suite" (I say this with quotes because this really feels like you have your own home) and were so surprised. We stayed in The Whitesound. It has a private patio overlooking the beautiful river and a fire pit, which TJ provided a campfire for all of us later on that evening. We were given a tour around the rest of the Inn and were amazed by the love and care took into the grounds and each suite. I've stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels, but I would pick this over any of those any day. Not only would I rather put money into a local establishment, but this exceeds every expectation when it comes to comfort, view and all around peace of mind. The lady at the frount desk had told us there would be actual breakfast but it was just a poptart in a bag, the pool has obscure hours to where you cant even swim if you want to in the morning because it opens at 10am, They downgraded our room because they couldnt get the door to open but charged us just as much. Not only that but the balcony is connected and people could have just walked into our room. And an employee was eating one of the very few available breakfast bags they provided. read more

My partner and I stayed one night here before the big day of moving into our house in Sylva. We had a stressful week moving from Dallas and there was nothing more serendipitous and necessary as booking a night at this inn. We talk so much about having a "staycation" here again. You can hear the rushing river from your room, sit on your own private balcony, enter barefoot into the river from a small beach, swing on the hammock nearby, drink wine by the fire, or pet any of the three amazing animals who walk around in the same relaxed, unrushed stupor as the other guests and staff. DO NOT BOOK this place and expect them to keep your reservation. You may end up in a room without a view, next to their parking lot. We drove 4 hours into town to celebrate my birthday and had spoke with the owner about their upstairs, river-front room. We paid the deposit and were really looking forward to our stay. Upon arriving, we discovered the Inn owners had given our room away to "regulars". They claimed tohave called us, but left no voicemail, email, etc. They told us they could offer us a room without a view....next to the parking lot. The owners claimed to have given us a discount when we booked (something we never asked for) and that was their justification for adjusting our reservation. To top it all off, we spent an hour searching for a new place to stay....there was nothing available to rent in town. I left the place in tears. TJ is easily the most disorganized innkeeper I've had the displeasure of dealing with. Last year we showed up to find that he had no record of our reservation even though he had already charged us for half the stay. We ended up in a different room. This year I cancelled the reservation via email due to Covid numbers. TJ chose to ignore that and then was immediately aggressive when I returned his call about the stay. We booked our room for our girls weekend on the morning we were going to be in Dillsboro. TJ was so accommodating and the room (whitesound) was the perfect space for the three of us to relax after a long day of driving! The beds were so comfortable, the room was so clean, and the bathroom had plenty of space for us to get ready in the morning. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. However, place is rather dated, think staying at your grandmothers house, furnished from thrift stores and garage sales. Seemed to be a lot of maintenance projects (railings, roof, deck, etc) underway with many more (needed) yet to be started. Fire pit is right in the parking lot very close to the all wood building. I didn't see any smoke detectors or fire extinguishers. They may be there but we didn't see them. Microwave and small fridge in units. They also provided some snacks in the units. Their was no ice machine. Overall 5 stars for location and friendly owners, 2 stars for accommodations. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Dillsboro Inn for 4 nights in January to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, we first stayed in the Riverview room but the owners upgraded us to Nantatuk after the first night when they heard we had previously visited for our honeymoon. The owners went above and beyond creating a welcoming and homey atmosphere, the grounds are beautiful and well kept, the rooms are warm and inviting, and the amenities can't be beat. It's right on the river, with paths and various seating right up to the water's edge. The kitchens had everything we needed to be comfortable, we made our own breakfast and ate it while watching the river. Firewood was left on our doorstep every afternoon. We even got a good snow, a shovel was left on the deck the night the snow started but the steps and walkways were shoveled by lunchtime so we didn't have to use it. TJ and Terry thought of everything. We can't wait to be able to stay again! read more

My wife and I made reservations for two nights, for the Riverview Suite, almost 4 months in advance. Reservation was confirmed. Traveled in from out of state (950 miles) only to be told our room was not available. They had decided to give it to someone else and told us we were moved to another room, under the patio, with no deck overlooking the river. Owner was very rude and immediately told us to please go somewhere else if not happy with changed accommodations. When I tried to show him the confirmation and that the room we had reserved was the Riverview, he told us a SECOND time to go elsewhere if not happy, so we left and headed towards Cherokee. We were stunned by the reception and total disregard by the owners. Within a half hour after we left, TJ, (owner) called and left two voicemails asking us to come back. We had called his bluff and left, and he obviously realized at this time that he was loosing revenue. With such rudeness and total disregard for clientele by someone in the hospitality business, we did not even consider returning. We were still stunned and in disbelief that an inn keeper would twice ask us to leave if not happy with him changing our accommodations. It all was a blessing in disguise though as we ended up staying in nearby Cherokee instead, in a much better place, newer hotel, in a King suite at a lower cost. Cherokee has much more to offer than Dillsboro. Everyone was so nice and accommodating, great fishing close by, restaurants, scenery and dining. In summary, Thank You TJ for asking us to leave (twice) since we were not pleased with you not honoring our reservation. It was the best decision we could have ever made as we were so welcomed and much more pleased where we ended up staying instead. We are still stunned and shaking our heads at how someone in the hospitality business could act this way and possibly stay in business. In retrospect though, it worked out for the best for us and now we laugh about it. TJ is probably pleased as well having empty rooms at his inn. PS. I recently visited Dillsboro Inn for a weekend with my boyfriend. We were looking for somewhere peaceful to spend the weekend away from the city (Atlanta). TJ and Terry are some of the best hosts I have ever met - they were so welcoming and accommodating. You can't help but be happy being around them! I spent most of my time outside on the deck and by the river on the hammock. It's easy to relax when surrounded by beautiful landscaping and hearing the sound of the river going by. This is one of our favorite places to visit. Since I am disabled, I require my own bed. My disability forces me to get up several times a night. Our host, or should I say our friend TJ, accommodates us. The Inn is beautifully rustic. It is quite comfortable. There is nothing like having coffee in the morning overlooking the river. There is much to do by the younger people not to mention the outdoors people. My wife and I enjoy the Inn for it's beauty and for the piece of mind and the spirit it helps to lift. When you drive up you are greeted by the dogs, Chi Chi and Ivory. Barney the cat is not as thrilled but he does warm up to you. In the evening, TJ will lite a campfire. Sometimes we roast marshmallows. Wonderful music is played throughout the day into the evening. All designed to lift your hearts and your spirits. Dillsboro offers a few choices for dining. If you prefer, you can cook your own meals in your room. We love the Inn and the town. We get rejuvenated every time we come. Give the Inn a try. You will become enchanted by it. My dad and I were looking for a halfway point close to both Athens, GA and Knoxville, TN to meet up. Dillsboro and Sylva provided an excellent area and the Dillsboro Inn provided excellent accommodations. Outdoorsman and nature-lovers alike will love the river access of the Inn and proximity to all the great restaurants and atmosphere of Sylva and Dillsboro is also a plus. The Inn provides a fire by the river each evening, some convenience breakfast items in each room and the opportunity to spend hours sitting and reading by the river.
