This review is only for the make up dept as I was on a time budget. I went in to buy a lipstick from MAC (they were out of my chosen color) but the young woman at the counter, Kasey, was very friendly and engaging. I asked a few questions about make up for older skin (I'll be 58 in June) and she ended up basically giving me a makeover. I ended up buying several products as they were light and didn't settle in my creases . Very helpful having someone who understands mature skin assist me! Dillard's . . . ehhhhhh. I really cannot stand this store. First, it's far too cluttered: you can hardly walk around in the men's section because it's overstocked. The only place where it's NOT overstocked is in stuff I would actually buy: to wit, they now carry some Fox Racing and other skate/BMX/surf stuff but what they have in stock is all last Fall's designs: nothing from Fox's Spring collection yet. And Fox is now going into summer for retailers! What the hey, Dillard's? Did you just not place your order this season? Here's where it gets really bad though: I went in the store looking for new underwear, thinking maybe, being an upper-end department store, they'd have brands like 2(x)ist . . . nooooo, all they have is Nautica, Ralph Lauren, and Jockey and a very picked-over selection of Calvin Klein. The salesman asked if he could help me and I told him what I was looking for and he had NEVER EVEN HEARD OF 2(x)ist and yet he sells men's underpants. That's like a record store salesperson never having heard of Madonna. I swear . . . Dillard's is cleary stuck in the 1980s, and clearly caters mainly towards the over-40 golfer and not to college-aged/young adult customers. We're in a college town though . . . if you want to make cash, Dillard's, get your store more in line with your market. Hell, my dad fits your demographic and he hates this store too for being over-crowded and annoying. Everything I've tried buying here I find elsewhere for less money and in a better selection: I looked at business clothing here but found nothing I liked but found good stuff at Express. I wanted Fox Racing tees and their selection was lackluster but Pac Sun hooked me up. I looked at cosmetics and found far better at the mini-Sephora in Penny's. Gah. read more

I went into this store today with my fiancé (we just got engaged yesterday) and we were very excited to look around to take note of things we might want to put on our future registry. An employee approached us about creating a registry today but we politely declined because we were enjoying looking around. As we walked away, the employee "whispered" to her coworker, starting laughing and said, "Hm, looks like a shotgun wedding." I was tempted to turn around and say something but I was not looking for a confrontation. Side note: we are young, but not pregnant! Way to go customer service. Looks like we won't be starting a registry at Dillard's! read more

I ordered a non returnable dress online a while ago. I understand it was non returnable under normal condition, and I never intended to return it, but the dress was defective and when I tried to return it in the store the manager said she cannot do anything about it and I can take the dress to a retail store and pay someone to fix it. I've been a lifelong shopper at Dillard's but took a hiatus while my local store in The Oaks Mall in Gainesville, Florida was expanding and remodeling. When I returned to the store recently to look for an event dress, jewelry and makeup, my shopping experience was incredible! Even though Dillard's is a wonderful store- I have been blessed to shop in some very prestigious places which boasts superior customer service and an atmosphere of pure luxury. Well, my visit to Dillard's in September/August 2019 rivaled those experiences I have had in places that you expect five stars. One employee, Lisa who specializes in women's jewelry and cosmetics, was the main reason my shopping experience exceeded expectations and even became an unforgettable experience. She was very knowledgeable about the inventory- but that's not why I was so impressed. She was very honest (with the utmost professionalism) in concerns to styling and making difficult purchase choices. She went out of her way to make sure I got everything I needed- even items outside of her department! She also made sure I was in love with each I was purchasing.. leaving me free of any possible buyers remorse. She was the opposite of a pushy, commission hungry salesperson. Instead, she took time to get to know me and my personal style. I have some self confidence issues that I'm overcoming So shopping for a huge event in which I'm hosting and will be the center of attention was giving me major anxiety. Lisa erased my insecurities and ignited a new self appreciation. That's something you cannot buy. I was going to spend quite a bit more money than I did that day; but Lisa advised me to get the necessities and if I loved the look we were going for-to come back and get the other pieces to enhance the look. Well, take about great sales execution because I'm now definitely going to Dillard's and ONLY Dillard's to purchase the rest of the items I want for my event and now for my upcoming wedding. With Lisa's help, I have no doubt that every penny will be spent wisely and I'll look like a knockout for my events! read more

Dillard's really has it going on since becoming one store in two split-level locations at the Oaks Mall. Both stores are clean and bright and full of high quality items. I don't know where Dillard's were hiding all of this nice stuff when they were only one store. There were beautiful high fashion earrings and accessories on display and the sales were good. I was shocked when I saw the vintage LV section. The sales staff were welcoming and pleasant. I really like this grand stance Dillard's has taken, and I hope they keep the momentum. read more

I needed a Mother of the groom dress for Feb like, really fast. Dillards in Gainesville FL associate in that dress area was SO healpful! Donna was quick to pick out serveral dresses with the style and color just right for me. Amazingly we found one that was perfect! I bought my daughters homecoming dress here . It was beautiful. She tried it in a week before homecoming. The zipper broke in the dress . Took it back because if it was the night of homecoming it would of ruined everything. The staff was super rude . Got a store credit even though all tags where in dress and was never torn . Staff followed us all over store as if we where stealing. Never felt so uncomfortable in my life . Will never shop here again . Never been treated like this before over a dress that was faulty. Please shop elsewhere. Product looks good but is cheap and they treat customers poorly!!! read more

This review is only for the lingerie department, because I'm not a huge Dillard's person otherwise. But their lingerie department is amazing! I highly highly recommend Daniva in the department if you are looking for anything, especially as a moderate-large busted woman. Dillards has awesome selection with regards to size and according to my mother they aren't afraid to send you elsewhere if they don't have your size or what you need. You have to be willing to pay for quality undergarments here! Daniva helped me find the perfect fitting bra (getting fitted is not uncomfortable or awkward) and stuck with me as I tried on like 10. She listened to everything I wanted and needed and I ended up getting 3 other items on top of the bra. She is amazing. read more

I wanted to get my make-up done professionally since I was not given the gift of applying make-up. So, I went to Dillard's and asked if I could make an appointment the same day however, I was lucky and one of the Estée Lauder make-up artists said she could take me right away. I was so pleased until another employee was so rude to me and bluntly said to me, "Where did you come from" and "Another person was in front of you, you cut in front of the line". Hello, you are really talking to a customer like that? No one was there at the time I asked to have my makeup done. I thought it was really rude and unprofessional of her to talk to me like that. The good thing about this experience was the make-up artist who helped me. She apologized about her co-worker and told me basically she is always like that. In result of the make-up visit: She was so helpful and was so kind to me. I had so many compliments on my make-up, its just too bad I can't repeat the look myself. :) If it wasn't for that certain employee, I would have rated this store a five. read more

I don't shop here very often & when I went in I remembered why. I was looking for bday gift for my boss & the sales person was very condescending that worked in the ladies clothing area. The sales person in purses followed me around like I was up to no good. I was in shorts & tee & no makeup but looked decent. Much nicer in shoes & jewelry. A week ago I went to this dillard's location at the oaks mall. I went in as it was my first time coming to this mall since i'm visiting friends. As i go in it looks so dirty! When i picked up a product it has dust all over it. As i was waiting in line to pay there was only 3 employees that are working and when it was my turn to pay they gave me a attitude. Three days ago i came back to return some items because i didn't like it. As i return it they gave me an attitude again, like they were annoyed because i was returning an item i didn't like. As they didn't have cash to refund they gave me a paper in a angry tone and told me to go upstairs and get it. As for now i'm never shopping at this location. The employees were mean and rude. I give this location a -5/5 stars. Just horrible shopping experience shopping here. In other Dillard's stores i've been to they have treated me kindly but as the one in the oaks mall they treated with horrible manners, rude and disrespectful. I'll be taking my business somewhere else customers are treated kindly and respectfully instead of giving attitude and being disrespectfully rude. read more

Kathleen, a certified fitter with 12 years of experience, is that amazing when it comes to sizing you up. She told me what size bra I should wear before ever pulling out a tape measure. I had been wearing a very uncomfortable 34 c. Kathleen sent me out the door in a 36 DD! Did you know 80% of women wear the wrong size bra? Go see Kathleen and correct that. I tried to return 2 shirts I paid 125.00 for and as told their policy was 30 days I was 15 days over and got told by the mens dept manager to beat it. He treated me like a thief. The customer service at this store is non existent. I have spent my last dollar at Dillards. read more
