We didn't know much about 'Capps' until a few friends mentioned the shop to us with stellar reviews of their boys' haircuts! Feeling a bit burned out on the unreliable quality of the typical children's salons, we decided to give Capps a try. My husband went first and met Wisam, who he was thoroughly impressed with. Wisam is friendly and very talented at what he does. Since then, we have taken both of our boys (4 y/o and 18m) to Wisam. He is patient with the kids and works with their comfort level while still doing an outstanding job. He has gone out of his way to make sure our youngest isn't scared of his tools, and will give our 4 y/o son his phone to watch during appointments. Their shop is always clean and is inviting and comfortable for customers! Highly recommend!

My son had an **extremely** disappointing experierience at Rooster's on whitestone with barber…read morenamed C.K. He went in with long, healthy, beautifully maintained hair (see photo), and left with what can only be described as a completely unskilled and incoherent haircut. The result is alarming: the top was left oddly puffy, the back completely unshaped and uneven, and there is no blending or alignment anywhere. The haircut lacks any professional structure -- it appears rushed, imbalanced, and unfinished. It genuinely raises concerns about whether C.K. has any understanding of basic haircutting technique. What's most upsetting is that my son went in with beautiful hair and reasonable expectations, only to leave with a cut so poorly done that it now will require corrective work elsewhere. This wasn't a minor issue. It was a careless and unacceptable service. I cannot recommend this barber to anyone. If you value quality, consistency, or basic professionalism, look elsewhere.

Derek's Barbershop is not a haircut. It is a spiritual event with clippers…read more You walk in expecting a trim and leave convinced the laws of texture have been rewritten in your favor. The chairs are thrones. The mirrors are kind. The whole place smells like cedar, fresh linen, and the quiet confidence of a man who has never once given a bad fade. And then there are the hands. The owner's hands are absurdly, almost unfairly soft. Not "I moisturize sometimes" soft. Museum-quality soft. Cloud that paid its taxes soft. You sit down, the cape settles, and those hands arrive like a diplomatic envoy from a gentler civilization. They find the grain of your hair the way a pianist finds middle C. No tugging. No scraping. Just precise, velvet-gloved authority that somehow also knows exactly where your cowlick has been hiding since 2009. The line-up is surgical. The blend is invisible. The neck is so clean it feels personally offended by stubble. Mid-cut you forget you are in a barbershop and briefly consider whether these hands should be insured, studied, or gently knighted. By the time the hot towel happens, you are negotiating with yourself about coming back next week for no reason other than the hands. Five stars is a coward's rating. Derek's deserves a sixth star, a small parade, and a plaque that simply reads: soft hands, perfect cut, see you Thursday.

Once it's time for said appointment the son (in training) nor the "owner" express any apologies for the wait. In fact Harold the barber/owner has an attitude that I even brought up the fact we were waiting. Harold was putting his hands up telling me he is respectful to his other customers. No Harold, you were rude. You know these places cancel appointments for even being 5-10 minutes late. We are at the appointment 10 minutes early and still waited 30 minutes past the appointment time. During the appointment no one is speaking at all. At the conclusion of the appointment he did not provide my son a lollipop and reported having no more although my nephews who had appointments 30 minutes prior both had lollipops and reported seeing a drawer full. That is how Harold the barber and his son treat CHILDREN when they are upset with adults. Harold reported his son being "in training and learning", however, good customer service is explaining the issue in advance and expressing your gratitude for being patient and still waiting. Terrible, terrible terrible. Also the son "in training" costs the same amount as a skilled barber...interesting. They sped off in their fancy cars and didn't look back at the conclusion of the late appointment. No bueno Harold Sr ad Jr no bueno. Also the haircut was not good at all.
