Derek's Barbershop is not a haircut. It is a spiritual event with clippers. You walk in expecting a trim and leave convinced the laws of texture have been rewritten in your favor. The chairs are thrones. The mirrors are kind. The whole place smells like cedar, fresh linen, and the quiet confidence of a man who has never once given a bad fade. And then there are the hands. The owner's hands are absurdly, almost unfairly soft. Not "I moisturize sometimes" soft. Museum-quality soft. Cloud that paid its taxes soft. You sit down, the cape settles, and those hands arrive like a diplomatic envoy from a gentler civilization. They find the grain of your hair the way a pianist finds middle C. No tugging. No scraping. Just precise, velvet-gloved authority that somehow also knows exactly where your cowlick has been hiding since 2009. The line-up is surgical. The blend is invisible. The neck is so clean it feels personally offended by stubble. Mid-cut you forget you are in a barbershop and briefly consider whether these hands should be insured, studied, or gently knighted. By the time the hot towel happens, you are negotiating with yourself about coming back next week for no reason other than the hands. Five stars is a coward's rating. Derek's deserves a sixth star, a small parade, and a plaque that simply reads: soft hands, perfect cut, see you Thursday. read more

I've been seeking a new barber shop for awhile now. As luck would have it I won a gift certificate to Derrick's. Based on my initial visit I have found my new barber shop. I explained to Derrick what I wanted he made a few suggestions and I emerged a brand new man (tip of the cowboy hat to Brooks & Dunn). I also had my scraggly beard trimmed and shaped using a straight razor. What a difference. I believe there are three additional barbers working with Derrick that have all been at this location for quite a while. If you in are in the CP Leander area this is where you should go for an awesome experience! Do check out the other 5 star reviews as they are spot on! read more

Love this place. I've been coming for years. The staff is amazing. Monique is great. Derek is great. Can't say enough.

Friendly service and Monique is the absolute goat. Apparently I need 85 characters so this is just filler. How much would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck would chuck wood? read more

Derrick's Barber Shop in Cedar Park tucked near (Austin Steam Train Association) Review: At a glance: 5/5: Friendliness & Professionalism 5/5: Cleanliness 5/5: Time Management of the Experience 5/5: Ease of Booking an Appointment (Online or App) 5/5: Pricing Extra Mile Mentions: *Local Small Business *Owner Cares *Offers Complimentary Craft Brew/Bottled Water *Honors Military *Warm Shaving Lather (yes it's a thing) (yes it makes a difference) The world is crazy. Why should going to the barber be the same? Tired of getting a "Super" "Great" Haircut where you're supposedly the "MVP" and the experience is more like being rushed in and out like it's an after Thanksgiving sale, but on packed days the waiting area feels like the DMV? Not Derrick's! Then comes in the other option of: balance. I think it's safe to say, we could all use a little more of that. For context - I'm a suburban dad with two young kids. I eat ramen noodles and a crazy night out with the wife is when we decide to splurge and get an appetizer (typically the southwest eggrolls or spinach & artichoke dip). I love Derrick's Barber Shop because for 30-solid minutes I don't have to dress up like a princess, be punched in the ear by my son, or have the corporate office work woes plague my central nervous system. Derrick's Barbershop is a non-pretentious atmosphere, filled with super normal people that understand that when guests come into the store that it's a moment when they can hit pause. While you wait, sip some agua, have a beer, watch the game. Not into sports? -- then watch the neighboring screen with Chive TV on it and you'll be able to see a cat ride on a unicycle while juggling a set of hamsters. Derrick's staff understands hair. Yes, I know that seems like a no-brainer, but so is having your cell phone actually be able to make a phone call...(bet that doesn't always happen for you now does it). "Getting" hair is a big deal because no two heads of hair are the same. Professionals get that. And that's a big deal when a guest has an end goal of wanting to walk out with the look that they want. Also, your barber really wants you to be happy with the end result. Ever been in a chair, where you ask the stylist to make a little adjustment and then you're only returned with a long pause and a lot of heavy breathing? Yeah, not the case here. After wrapping up my haircut I always need a shampoo because I'm returning to work (if I don't get one, my backside becomes an uncomfortable rainstick ). The best part of the shampoo is the warm towel that stacks up on my face (don't worry, there's a breathing hole). When I'm done with my shampoo, my barber (Milli)(Please get your own, she's not taking any more customers)(J/K, that's not true, but seriously, get your own) finishes with the "pièce de résistance" using the warm lather to finish off the back of my neckline. I like it, but maybe slapping on cold shaving cream that feels like wet toilet paper is more other folks' thing. Key thing, is that Derrick's Barbershop will be what you need it to be. For me, it feels like community. Like the show Cheers, The Dos Equis Guy and Nolan Ryan's genetic material was put into a blender and pooped out in the form of a barbershop. Highly recommend this place. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been coming here for about 2 years after moving from another area where I had a consistent barber I trusted and knew really well. Was really nervous to find a barber in my new home and as I expected tried several other barbers who weren't a fit for me but stepping inside of Derrick's Barber Shop I felt welcome and like maybe I had found the shop I was looking for. Really glad I was right. I can't speak for all of their barbers from personal experience as I booked my first appointment with Derrick and haven't looked back but I will say that I've seen many of their other barbers do some great cuts as well. Derrick gives you exactly what you ask for in a cut and even asks if he can improve on an element of the cut with very low pressure and even will tell you if he doesn't think something will work with your hair type or style. Can honestly say my haircut has changed for the better since coming here. read more

Worst place ever ! DO NOT GO THERE.. unprofessional and inconsiderate Waste my time !! Did an appointment for haircut and beard and she only wanted to do my hair .. like who does that ? ZERO STARS ! read more

I went in to go from long hair to very short and thought a barbershop such as this one would be the best place to go. I was right! I loved the atmosphere and the staff was very kind and attentive. They gave me good advice and did an excellent job on the cut. They also pointed me in the right direction for products to maintain my hair that weren't overly expensive yet work great. I'll definitely be going back. read more

I took my 2 year old son here to get his haircut. He is a pretty hard customer as he has some fear about getting a cut. Sierra was so friendly to him and you could tell she has kids. She gave him his phone to watch SpongeBob and was gentle and loving to him. We will definitely be back as she cut his hair perfectly and I didn't have to have him on my lap!! I'll actually have to come out here to get my beard trimmed as they specialize in this area as well. The free beer was also a plus!! We will be back! Thanks Sierra and the crew over at Derricks!! read more

Was really happy with my haircut at Derrick's Barber Shop. I'm kind of picky about haircuts and was very happy with the cut. Derrick himself came over and trimmed my beard. Everyone there was kind and helpful. Price was fair, you get what you pay for. One of my favorite parts was hearing the story of Derrick cutting Nolan Ryan's hair and then seeing the pix! Great place and I would recommend! read more

First time they're going there today and the hairstylist no showed. No call or anything. The receptionist tried to tell me maybe I booked it with someone else but unfortunately I had an email proving who it was booked with. I also like if you don't show up your credit cards automatically gets charged but if they don't show up you don't get any compensation for wasting your time. read more

Awesome job on my sons hair! Great vibe and employees were super a nice. My son can be pretty fidgety but they did great with him.

Milli gives great haircuts and is always professional and kind. The shop is very cool, unique decorations inside.

I had been coming to Derricks Barber Shop every 2 weeks for months. I moved out of the area and tried a number of different local places. But after a lot of inconsistent cuts I decided it's worth commuting back to Cedar Park to get my haircut. Nichole did another great haircut today and I already booked my next appointment. It's hands down the place to come! read more

Milli is definitely top notch. She did my Christmas cut, 2 thumbs up ‼ Thank you Derricks barber shop

If you're ever looking to get cut by one of the best barbers in the Austin/Cedar Park area, look no farther than Derrick's Barber Shop. I've been going to Derrick specifically for the better part of 2 years at this point and I've yet to leave anything but impressed with his ability with a pair of clippers. This man and everyone he employs are some of the most skilled barbers & stylists you'll find in the area and I can promise you won't be disappointed. Incredibly happy to see he opened his own shop and looking forward to seeing it thrive! read more

Derrick’s Barber Shop - Excuse my face but check out that fade! - Barbers Near Me - Cedar Park, Texas

I have been trying to check this place out all week since I'm off for spring break and was really annoyed to find out that the two times I stopped by more than an hour or two before closing and they were already gone for the day. I had just wanted to stop by and talk with someone about what they do and if I could book a private party for me and my groomsmen to all get trimmed and shaved together for my bachelor party but felt discouraged that twice now they weren't even open during advertised hours. Really wish me and my guys could've given this place a shot based on what I've heard. read more
