We needed a front passenger tire replaced. With the new truck purchase, we also purchased the wheel & tire replacement coverage. Would you believe they charged us $342.67 for a 17" tire? There was NOT enough coverage, to cover the replacement, we still had to shell out additional funds to cover the full replacement service. I checked the tire at two places, it was only $167.00ea. at retail. Not only did they charge an unreasonable amount of money for a car size tire, their Service Dept. was completely unorganized and unprofessional. I stood there waiting at the Service counter, the only one there. As the counter person searched & searched for my paperwork & then he cold not find our key. To make matters worse the employee did not know how to do his job. He was stumbling around with the shops computer, as i held up from behind the counter, the paperwork, to point out notes that were written, he fired back, "GET THAT OUT of MY FACE!" with a very rude & threatening tone. Mind you, I'm on the other side of the counter, 2 feet away. As I continued to wait, he finally called another employee to ask more silly questions on the final bill. The listing clearly stated that one of the features was their "Liberty 4 Life" program. When flipping through the pictures, one of the pictures said "reasons to buy from Liberty" and the lifetime powertrain warranty was mentioned in those reasons, too. When I got to the dealership and decided we wanted the car, they told us it doesn't qualify for the program. When I asked why it says it has it in the listing, they said that all their vehicles say it. I took the vehicle to a Subaru service department and they told me it needed a transmission flush and Liberty refused to do it. They also connected the computer to it and found 3 error codes. Why didn't Liberty's service department do this before trying to sell the car to me? The tailgate was only working intermittently. The salesman gave up trying to get the tailgate to open when we testdrove it so he put the license plate in the side window. Even with that, they wouldn't explore further what the issue was because it worked later when we tried it. I had put $500 down on the car for them to hold it for me until we had the deal all worked out. I left a voicemail for the used car manager to explain Liberty 4 Life and he never returned my call. They were selling the car as is and they were sticking to that. After 2 weeks of no communication or signs that they really wanted to sell me a car and make me a happy customer, they sent me a text message saying they refunded the deposit and sold the car to someone else. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no ownership at any point in the process. Just poor work, poor communication, and complete disregard for the customer once problems became apparent. I have taken my cars to Fred for over 20 years. I drove my 2006 Elantra to 304,000 miles, mainly because Fred maintained it for most of its life. My 2023 Elantra has 50k on it and was recently serviced by Fred. I had a fuel induction/injector cleaning service (I think that is what it is called lol) and the car is running as good as the day it was brand new. I highly recommend Fred and his crew. They are amazing and their prices are fantastic.
