I went into Dick's because they have a great selection of shoes available to try on. At first, no sales person was in the shoe area. So I browsed and found some I'd like to try. The salesman miraculously appears and waits on a man who came in after me. Well, maybe he didn't see me. He finally gets to me and brings me several shoes to try and then totally disappears. I needed another size. Finally, another salesman comes by and gets me another size. Then he too doesn't come back to help me. I guess they are just shoe fetchers from the back room. I was hoping to buy shoes today and wouldn't have minded the $$$ prices for good shoes. Too bad for Dick's. read more

Needed to buy some really supportive kicks for work and my daughter recommended Brooks Ghost 14. I saw that Dick's Sporting had them and I placed an online pickup order at about 8 am. By 9 am, I had a text telling me my order was ready. Woo hoo! Drove down to the store and had my pupper with me, as always! Pulled into curbside spot, very well signed by the way, and not only did the employee come out FAST but he saw my giant Lab hanging out the window and he brought him a dog biscuit! Very easy shopping experience and so fast and efficient. Other retailers offer curbside however the wait can be rather long (Sam's, I'm looking at you), but this was so quick. Highly recommend as far as shopping online and parking curbside. read more

I would this store higher if the entire chain had not made a decision to stop selling firearms and ammunition. It appears to make up for the lost revenue of their products their prices have risen to compensate. The store is always clean and the associates are always friendly and helpful. They are well stocked except for firearms and ammunition. They sell fishing gear and knives, but not bird shot and shotguns. If you have been to one Dick's you have been to them all is my opinion. A true chain store. They do have plenty of parking. read more

The one thing that defines experiences within the same chain is the customer service from one store to the next. It's strange how customer service at one location is awesome, but how at a different store on another side of town the experience can really leave a bitter taste in my mouth. That's how it was here. I found a rather expensive bicycle for my daughter I wanted to buy - just the right size for her with room to grow and get her used to shifting gears and using hand brakes. I could not get any help from any sales staff and actually had to figure out how to get the bike off the rack myself. After about 20 minutes of fumbling around with the mechanisms that held the bike in place, I was finally able to remove the bicycle from the rack and get it onto the floor. Typically, when I start reaching for something like this and start fumbling around with racks and mechanisms, someone comes running to either get the sale or prevent me from injuring myself on their contraption. Not the case here. In the meantime, my bride was trying to find someone to help us get it off the rack, but she couldn't find a soul (it seemed) anywhere near the area. Was everyone in some mandatory employee meeting somewhere? After having my little girl test drive it up and down the floor a couple times, I wheeled the bike up to the front of the store to check out and the cashier asked where my sales ticket was... "What sales ticket" I asked? Her response was "Didn't anyone assist you with this?" and my response was "No, there was nobody back there, in, near or around that department to help us." She looked dumbfounded - just a look of disbelief as though we couldn't have been serious, and then rang up the bike for us. We paid for the purchase then wheeled the bike out to the car, mounted it on the rack and off we went for home. To get my mind off the way our purchase was handled here as opposed to how a similar purchase was handled on the other side of town, I turned the radio to a ball game for the ride home. I am hoping to eventually forget about the experience. read more

This location is 2-story and there is nothing that tells you what is where. I wandered around the store looking for something I needed that day; finally an employee appeared and asked if she could help me find something. She helped me find what I was looking, but I'd otherwise have never seen it. I also really didn't like a bunch of kids outside the front door asking if I'd pitch in for some field trip or something. In this economy, the needs of my sister's kids come first. And I just don't want to be hit up for more $ outside a store that charges too much for their goods in the first place. read more

This location is very sizable and usually has a variety of options for all of your sporting goods needs. They are a little pricey so I don't shop here often but if I need something in a pinch and don't have time to wait for something to be shipped to me, Dick's Sporting Goods is usually my first stop. It is a plus that they have in store returns when you order items online and they always make that prices very seamless. I will have to say the soccer selection in this store is larger which is nice! But, there were no employees around to assist with questions. If I were reviewing the design of the store or the variety of merchandise this would have a different rating. From previous experiences with Dick's, I know they have a clearance sale this time of year. I went to the clothing clearance area, which were marked with larger "clearance" signs and smaller signs offering 50% off the lowest marked price - clearance items end in ".97". I picked through the clearance section and found a few items that would be nice Christmas gifts for family members. When I took them to the register I noticed they were ringing in the lowest ticket price and not 50% off of that. I said something to the clerk, who at first said the 50% off portion of the sale was over. When I mentioned that they had many signs still offering that discount, he radioed someone to inquire about the correct pricing. That person authorized him to allow me one item at a 50% discount, but the rest would be at the tagged price. I declined the offer. The clerk was incredibly nice and never displayed an attitude towards me during this event, and even apologized when I decided not to make a purchase. read more

8/12/2019 ~6pm shoes... At the triangle town Dicks in Raleigh, I asked a young gentlemen about a size 6 kids cleat. He went back and came out a few minutes later with nary a nod. So I ask, and he says 'oh ???? Gotcha' nodding to his buddy. His buddy comes by a few minutes later and we truly started over with the same exact routine. He comes back out and gives me the same speel that 'oh, ????? ????' While nodding to his friend. Neither young man was comprehensible and did not seem present? What a truly sad experience. Very prejudice location. Had gone with my father to buy a shotgun for us to go hunting. As I spoke to my dad to translate information about the shotguns, the manager, lead or whatever from that department said he won't be able to sale us anything because we were suspicious. We're Hispanic. My father and I left respectfully after being disrespected. I talked to a manger about it and said he has every right to make that decision. We decided to go to the Dick's at the Knightdale location, where they attended us with great service and purchased what we needed. I drove back after, and came to this location to buy the shells for the shotgun where the same man who denied our purchase helped me. Ever since this happened, after coming to this location since I grew up. I go to the Knightdale location instead even though it's smaller, employees have always been nice and respectful. I came in to look at golf clubs. I didn't know that they had an area to try them out. The associate who helped me turned the lights on in the room and set up the program for me and left the area. It was perfect. I don't hit as well with an audience. I got a solid 15 minutes in with a good club and it was fun. When I was done I wasn't pressured into a sale and we talked about golf tips. I love this store compared to all others I have visited. They have a great breadth of products which means something for everyone in my family. The store is very clean and bright and inviting and presentation tells me so much about what to expect when I walk into a store. I like that they are collecting for St. Jude's as I know I can donate here and it is going to a cause I believe in. I always stop to donate and talk to those that have a cause because it reminds me to be humble in life. I always wait to shop for sales in any store I am in so that is just a given in life. Just like in a restaurant the service can make the total difference in my experience. You have to have the right people on your team to score with the public. For Gregory and Donna I would say try again to give them a chance and see how it turns out this time. I intend to buy my next bike here and I know they have a great shop for taking care of it. I really like this location and the selection they have. I love to go here for new workout clothes and gear and especially for shoes. The salespeople are very helpful and knowledgeable if you have any questions. They have a great selection - to be honest sometimes it's almost too much! (Like trying to buy a jump rope and there's 20 different options...) But generally they have whatever you need and there are always good sales going on and coupons you can use. read more

This is the biggest sports store near us and so we visit it a lot, especially if they don't have what we need at either Target or Walmart. My husband is in love with the variety of gear they have, and can spend hours just looking around. What we both aren't in love with is the hit or miss customer service. He had an after Christmas return and after being sent from one register to another, turns out they didn't have what he wanted. So after about 35 minutes he ends up just getting his money back and ordering the item online from a competitor. I tend to think the store is too big and a bit confusing as well as prices being a bit high. For me, I will look here if my first 3 choices (Amazon, Target, Walmart) don't have it. read more

I came here from the Knightdale store because this location had the shoes I needed to exchange. The Knightdale store gave them my name to hold the shoes and I was at this location in about 15 minutes. I walked in and have never seen a bigger group of employees try to avoid someone. I walked in and one disappeared like a lonely gazelle. Then, I walked to the registers and there was just a woman standing there, looking for an employee. I went to the other registers where there were 3 people. The one girl who was a cashier asked for assistance and the other employees seemed to blow her off. I stood there for about 5 minutes and someone came over to find my shoes. 10 minutes later, I got them. Then, I was able to switch them out and leave. This location is huge, clean, and in a great location, but it does seem that half the time--employees are scattered and/or try to avoid you. I totally understand giving customers their space, but don't make eye contact with me and walk away like a weirdo. Trust me; i'm pretty awkward, but come on. read more

Holy Smokes.....what a deal! I've been looking for a new shotgun for almost a year and just couldn't find the price I liked. Lo and behold Dick's pops up with a Sunday circular with the exact model I want on sale plus 2 free boxes of shells. Went in at lunch today and beat the Holiday Sales rush. A very helpful gun shop salesman had me in an out in 20 minutes.....not bad considering the forms that must be completed. Ain't it wonderful when a transaction just goes right? I agree with previous reviewers about the customer service aspect of this store. Seldom do I ever get asked or can find an associate to assist. I find this place to be like Walmart for me...I have a fifty-fifty shot of actually finding what I'm looking for...whether it's shoes, equipment, or clothing. Well, now I remember why I prefer shopping online. When I finally did find someone to help me they could not seem less interested in what I was asking. I went to buy a kayak [with gear] and an entire roof rack system, so yeah, I has some questions. That and during a labor day sale, there was one register open, 6 people in line, and three employees behind the customer service desk talking about what they were going to do when they got off work. For all the complaining that companies do about how online shopping is ruining business, they certainly aren't trying very hard. Its almost better to have a more impersonal experience in most cases. I do love the gear they carry, for me though, this seems to be becoming another amazon showroom [ala best buy]. And I promise I won't bother any of the employees again. read more

AWFUL experience. After searching for the other shoe to match the display model (the only pair in the size I needed) for 30 minutes, I was told they couldn't find it. They said that they didn't know when they would get more in, but that they could order them for me and have them delivered to my home. When they arrived 5 days later as promised I was quite disappointed, and disgusted, to see that I spent $90 on a pair of shoes that were obviously used. No Tags, packing, dirt on the bottom, and more sock lint then I've ever seen in a shoe. When I took them to the store the manager did finally refund me, but persistently kept saying that there was nothing wrong with them. Horrible customer service, and I feel for the next person to receive those shoes because I know they just put them back into inventory. read more

I ordered some boots online. When they came, the box was torn and looked used and the boots were two different colors. I cannot believe this was even allowed to leave the warehouse and shipped to a customer! I returned the boots to this particular Dick's store and the people there were not helpful. I had all my records and receipts (thankfully) however I was told I could go to footwear myself and check and see if they had an equivalent item for exchange. I asked if someone working could check instead of me walking back there (this is a pretty big store) and the lady assisting me said "no, they only have a few of these boots left" ... well if there's only a few then why can't the employee look and tell me if they have the same size and color ??? I just said never mind and got my money back. Don't plan on spending any time or money with them ever again. Last week my wife and I went to Dick's to look at elliptical machines. I didn't see what I was looking for but thought I would stop by the shoe department to get a new pair of tennis shoes while we were there. Typically when I go into a shoe department I quietly go about my business, try a few pair of shoes on, grab the pair that feels the best and leave. Dick's had so many selections I decided to grab a sales person. I explained to her that I have been experiencing problems with my feet. My experience at the Triangle town Dick's sporting goods store was not the best. The store manager who's name is Mike Sneer was is not one fit for the position he is currently placed in, while in the store he made it seem like he actually cared about the customers but in reality he was trying to walk away & act as if he didn't hear someone asking for assistance. I also spoke with other customers who are my acquaintances & they too have seen how rude and lazy he is towards customers and employees! He is awfully rude to employees and doesn't care about customers. He shows no interest in his employees or customers and all that makes him look like is a lazy and rude person who should NOT be in the manager position. Other than that the employees are great! Very nice and ready to help out! It's a great store with many things I need for my Sport. If you're shopping for sporty shoes I recommend going to their shoe dep, it is full of variety for almost every sport and supported by some great employees! read more
