My review is based on ordering something online and then going into the store to pick it up. About 3 days before Christmas I realized I forgot to get my younger brother a gift. Figuring it's too close to Christmas to order something online to be delivered to the house, I realized I must either go to the store or order online and pick it up. The item I was getting, an inversion table, aka a workout stretching machine thingy where u hang upside down like a bat, was what I was after. After checking online at several retailers I came to the conclusion that Dick's Sporting Goods offered the best value for the product. So I picked it out, ordered it online and was told to wait for my confirmation email. It said it could take up to 24 hours to be emailed to me, but in reality was emailed within 45 minutes. I was so happy for that because I was running out of time before Christmas and had a million things to do still... So I got the email and it gave me instructions on how to go about picking up my item. The next day I went to the store and stood at the podium designated for in store pick up, it told me to enter my info (name, product number, confirmation number, etc.) So I did and waited a total of 5 minutes and received my item from a worker and left. The whole process literally took 8 minutes lol. That's the kind of business I like, no crap, in, out, and bye bye.. I would definitely recommend Dick's for any sporting good needs in the future. This store has horrible customer service and sells crap bikes. For my sons birthday, went to this store and bought a Bank GT BMX bike. It was green. Within 30 days the back Hubble where the gears are cracked. Brought it back and they couldn't repair it. So they gave me a new one after a bunch of back and forth about the bike being a piece of junk after breaking in 30 days. Anyway, 5 months later and the same exact thing happened again to the bike. Brought It in to a bike shop and they told me it was irreparable. Tried bringing back to Dicks and the guy Andre in the bike dept was rude and told me they couldn't do anything for me. Then the manager Ron came out and told me basically, what do I want him to do. He offered me nothing. Wouldn't take the bike back. Not even give me store credit. They were rude and they sell pieces of junk. 2 bikes both broken, same problem in 6 months and they won't take it back. Never coming back to this store again. read more

Went to buy something that was in the back. Asked cashier to get someone to help us and she said for us to wait in that dept. 20 minutes later we are still waiting as the girl is talking about her plans for that night then they leave. While we are waiting the mall closes so they close the doors. When we go ask someone else for help (which was hard because there was like 2 employees visable) they tell us that our item was stored somewhere that you have to go through the mall to access and they cant because its closed. Even though we were there 20 minutes before it closed. So now we waited for no reason. read more

A JOKE! I came here last year to get new irons strictly because of a coupon I received... Not only did they not help me in the range the pro was equally unhelpful on the floor Giving me 2 sets to choose from telling me I didn't want anything else. Fast forward to last week, Golf Galaxy sent me here (sister companies) to get a driver they did not have in stock, they even called ahead for me to make sure they had it in stock.. We'll the Nike Tour VRS driver comes in one color that is red. The performance edition is black as it says online and what the guys at galaxy told me. So why did the guy at dicks tell me they only make the tour driver in black? Because it was the only club he had there. I told him again he was wrong and he insisted that I was delusional and golf galaxy was wrong. Now I have the wrong club in my bag... Again thanks to this joke of a store with limited selection giving me false information. Take your purchases to golf galaxy or the superstore where they actually know the difference between clubs and how to treat a customer. read more

I'm not really harsh with reviews but I traveled up to this store specifically for a last minute Christmas gift because this was the closest Dick's that had the item I was looking for. Checked online ON MY WAY to the store, it said the product was still available and in stock. Get there, couldn't find it so I asked an employee, for him to tell me that what they have on the shelf is all they have. I ask him, how could that be when it literally still says online that they HAVE THE PRODUCT IN STOCK? He proceeds to rolls his eyes at me, turns his back and goes "I don't know" and walks away. So thank you for having me drive all the way to this specific store (when there are multiple stores much closer to me) in the traffic on RT. 17, to walk out empty handed and having to deal with nasty attitude from an employee. read more

I visited this store in search of a particular folding chair. They had them but not the color I wanted. I had two different sales people ask me if I needed help. One of them called a different store and put the chairs I wanted in hold. I left very impressed with the customer service. I will be back if they keep it up! read more

Strange experience here. Came here looking for a rugged everything knife for a gift that can baton wood for camping.... specifically the Esee series. (I own an Esee 4). Walked around the knife section for a few minutes and approached by a sales associate and asked me if I needed help. I asked him if they carried Esee knives. He quickly responded with, "What the hell is that? No." His response took me a back. It wasn't an answer I was expecting from an employee who seemed to me like he was a manager. A simple, "No," would have sufficed. At least learn more about better "made in USA" knives other than the cheap ones sold in this store. Also, be wary of their sales signs. I ended up buying a hoodie on sale but paid more for it when went to check out. I literally had to walk back in the store and look at the for sale sign. Thankfully another sales associate helped me out and I went back on line to the register to get the appropriate sale price listed and got $ back (saved from 1 star to 3 stars.) It was just a hassle being in this store: 1. You shouldn't have to second guess the price of a "sale" and walk back to the sale sign to check like I did. 2. Employees should make you feel welcome instead of quickly saying off putting things like the knife guy sai to me. 3. They don't have Military, Police or Firemen discounts. So... If you have access to military posts, buy your goods (especially knives) their if you really want to have a feel for the item like me. At least you won't have to pay taxes. I'll probably get an Esee 6 knife online but I wonder what store in Bergen County have it in stock. read more

First time in this store, to purchase a fishing license with a friend also buying one. Store looked great, but the customer service was horrible. Prompted to go find a manager, we asked for one near the counter. A female rep had such a nasty attitude toward us when we asked for a manager. She also made a rude comment to my friend about forgetting his social security number to purchase the license. It was a bad experience. Bad atmosphere. read more

if i can give a negative star, i will! i went here once.. they had an advertisement saying u get $20 if u buy $100.. i wasnt buying a pair of shoes but i bought anyway so i can get the $20. 1st of all, u cant use the $20dick's cash right away, u will have to wait till a week or so. once u rmember it, boom! it's expired already! they only give u 5days window to use it!? seriously??! who has to time to rmember that! on my way to return or the merchandise that i bought!! Great store nice stuff but employees very unfriendly can't find any help and when I did it was like I bothered them

There is hardly any customer service at this store. This is the second time I have gone searching for sports equipment for my kid and after wandering the store for more than 10 minutes searching for someone, anyone who worked there, I went up to the front to ask for help. At the time there was no line and 5 cashiers and no one could leave to help. They radio footwear and tell me someone will be there and eventually there is 1 guy there to help out 10+ customers. I was able to find additional equipment because some other moms who were more familiar with the sport took the time to come over and help me. This is the second time other customers had to help me out because there was absolutely no one there. To make matters worse checking out took 15 minutes, meaning I stood at the cashier, not in line, for 15 minutes. The price wasn't on a piece of equipment and the cashier could not find anyone in the store to help her with a price check. Eventually she left but then she couldn't find the equipment, so I had to run in the back to find it. I would have done this in the first place but I had tired very young children with me and had to carry them on my shoulders to the back of the store and dig through the equipment to find the price. I bring her a bagged item of a different size so she can ring it up. Finally I get out of there. When I come home I see that she put the bagged (wrong size) equipment in the bag (omg why?!) ensuring I have to go back here to return it. This store gets 1 Star for selection (even though 2 items were sold out) cleanliness and at least apologetic staff. Please hire more staff or I cannot recommend this store to anyone. Think ahead and use amazon. Do some research, no one will give you any advice if you are new to a sport, no one is there to help you, unless you count a sympathetic fellow customer. read more

Brought some paintball tanks in for a refill, and two of them blew their relief valves on the way home - CO2 whooshing all around the car. When I got home I weighed them, and they were all overfilled! The two (now) empty tanks are annoying, but overfilling all the tanks is dangerous. read more

Dicks is very tricky. they ran an ad for Footjoy Mens Golf shoes on Nov 22 over the internet as a Black Friday promotion, got the shoes then got the bill which was over $10 more then the advertised pricing. I called their customer service number to inquire why and was told they wouldnt honor it as they couldnt find the ad? Wow, I said you cant find your own ad? I dont believe this for one second! I dont care to spend my money at their stores any further. Never had this happen and not had it handled professionally. Word to the wise if you see an ad from them keep a copy as they apparently dont know what they advertise! read more

This is my favorite store. Came here to buy soccer equipment to train my cousin before his Barcelona youth camp. The employee at the store (I forgot her name) told me the equipment I would need for training, being a soccer player herself she showed me the latest equipment that my cousin could use to train for hours and be enhance her skills dramatically. She was also nice enough to inform me what equipment to avoid so I wouldn't end up wasting money. read more

I went to the Paramus location to find indoor soccer shoes for my son .Got helped by two different sale associates. First kid we asked for a specific size and he told us it wasn't available . I asked him to get any soccer shoe in 5.5. He bought a pair out but it was too narrow for my sons foot, in the meantime I found a display shoe in 5.5 just needed the other shoe , simple rright ? Nope he couldn't find the other shoe, in tHe meantime a group of his friends came into the store and he forgot about us. We asked another associate to help us find the other shoe he said it must have been taken for an other sale ??? Doesn't make any sense , but he said we could order it with free expedited shipping . So we walk to the front of the store only to find out the ordering system is not working . He tells a supervisor / manager woman and she says , ok we'll announce it over the PA system . Second time of horrible service. Rachel was new and sweet she tried so hard. Her manager, Dora was dismissive and ignored her request for help for over 10 minutes. When she finally arrived she had to call some guy for help. Robert arrives and is rude to us! Their bikes were in need of help(not assembled properly) and they then refused to sell us the bike. They were blunt rude abrasive and we will never be back! I miss "sports authority" who did have great help. Their customer service is the worst I have had and it's consistently bad! Went to look for a certain type of item. An expensive one. First of all it`s liking walking into a cemetery...can`t find anyone to speak with. After eight minutes I found a 45 year old clerk...I asked him to show me the item I was trying to buy and he said "Yeah, so what about it ?...I told him to forget and he walked away mumbling. I don`t think that this "wildly successful clerk" realized the size of commission that he lost. Lazy is not the word. Worst employees ever!!! Was waiting for a fitting room, pressed the button and no one came. Had to hunt down a girl to open a room(not a problem).. Then she disappeared. A minute later an older woman with short blonde hair started screamed at us from across the store "excuse me, hello, uhhhhh didn't you ask for a fitting room- over here! And huffed and puffed (very nasty tone). I wanted to say something but bit my tongue. Can never find any employees for help! read more

We had a horrible experience at this store tonight. My husband and son put several items on hold with an employee. A few minutes later, I came in and picked out an outfit, and then went up to pay for everything. Unfortunately, the employee could not find the items that were on hold only minutes earlier because they were already being put away. So after an hour of selecting those items, having my son trying them on, etc., we had to pick most of it out all over again! Then, the employee, Jeremy, neglects to ring up my outfit, which we discovered when I got home!! I don't know what was going on that store, but is seemed so disorganized! My husband called and spoke to Manager Amy, who would not hold the items for us util Tues, the next time I could come in because they do inventory on Mondays! Apparently taking inventory is much more important than customer service!! There were no apologies for all our time wasted by ANY of the employees! Needless to say, we will follow up with Dicks higher management, but will not return to the Paramus store!! read more

Awesome outdoors section. I have been in the store many times before to pick up some random items and it has gotten a lot better. The outdoors section looks great. There is a new manager Dean that runs the gun section and is the new archery guy also. Very knowledgable and funny as can be. Stopped in there today with my father after work to see if I could get my bow looked at and Dean helped us out he is awesome. It took him 5 minutes tops to tell me exactly what the problem was and adjusted the bow for me and took a couple shots with it in the archery room. He did some kind of running with paper and now it shoots perfect. Thank you so so much Dean for helping me out with my bow. He also recommended a new release which I love by the way I took it home and shot until it was dark tonight. I'll definitely be back even if I'm not buying anything just to say hi. The staff there is friendly and seem to know their stuff. I may apply for a part time job there cause it seems like a great place to work. Thanks again Dean! read more
