This is a huge Dick's store located in Paramus on NJ-17 Northbound. Pretty for all of our sports goods shopping in person, we have to rely on this store. It has sporting goods for almost all popular American sports including fishing, camping, cycles, shoes, apparel, and equipments. It is very clean and tidying always. Our most recent visit to was to get T-ball bat, helmet, gloves, pants, bags and shoes. We found all items except the shoes. Was really happy with variety of brands, options and sizes that were available. All items were on display within the same area, so it was easy get one item after another. The prices were decent, comparable prices I saw online from places like Amazon. Multiple associates offered to help. One of them assisted us with getting access to fitting room. When we asked about T-ball shoes, there was a huge confusion among them, the question got relayed between four of associates in three different areas before we found they don't have it. LOL!! Place sucks. After spending well over $1000.00 at the Paramus store for my 2 grandkids the past few years, this is what occurred this morning...... My grandson's street hockey stick broke this morning during a game. I received a 20% discount coupon in an email a few days ago and called the store today and asked if I can use the coupon today because the coupon said it was for Feb 27 -Mar. 2. I was told emphatically "No"; that the store would Not accept the coupon and I would have to wait 6 days in order for it to be accepted. This after being a very good and loyal customer for several years. I will now order the stick though Amazon, pay less for it and have it here in 24-48 hours. Good-bye Dick's. This review was written for a new Dicks Warehouse store at 165 NJ-4 W, Paramus, NJ 07652, in the old Kohl's spot. It's right across from Bergen Town Center. I've entered this store as a new location twice, but the powers that be at Yelp keep merging it with the regular Dicks store just up 17. Everything is already discounted, but a big chunk of the store has additional reductions. Shorts are 75% off. Most other clothes are 25% off. Shoes and coats are priced as marked. If you were one of the first 100 customers today for the grand opening, you received a mystery gift card. Mine was $10. I ended up getting some really nice winter items at a great discount. I went there recently to help my son prepare for football season with new equipment when we stumbled upon Ricky! I can't tell you how patient he was with a 13 year old! He allowed my son to talk & discuss every piece of equipment without frustration or "typical annoyance ". Bravo for hiring such an asset to this place!!! THANK YOU RICKY FOR SAVING ME MY SANITY !!!! I went here around a week ago along with another person looking for an exercise bike. On the showroom floor, they happened to have a Schwinn IC2 which had a good reduced price tag. The person there said that they were out of these bikes (his excuse was that these bikes have been selling like hotcakes due to Covid) and that they had the newer version of the bike called the IC3. He checked whether the other places had it and he said they didn't (as the archaic system says there is 1 even when that's the test product) and he was pretty insistent on buying the IC3. The guy disappeared and then we waited for a good while. We eventually decided to get the IC3 (as the guy said it was similar) and I eventually asked another person there as he asked whether we needed help. We mentioned that the were probably getting the IC3 as the IC2 was not in stock and he checked to make sure and there happened to be two bikes at their Wayne location. We thanked the guy for telling the truth (with the other employee looking annoyed that we found out) and we left to Wayne after calling the place and confirming. Cue said schlep (see other review.) A couple notes for the staff here: 1.Said IC3 is a completely different type of bike. I'm looking for a regular exercise bike, not a racing/fast cycling bike. I'm happy I was able to try the IC3 at Wayne at least. 2. Why recommend that bike when it's different outside of clearly trying to make a quick buck? 3. Why have the IC2 bike as a sample and not the IC3 when the former is out of stock? Overall we had a terrible experience at both places. This location has the absolute WORST customer service! You have many workers laying around not doing much. It when you ask for help you constantly get a "I can help in that department but I'll send someone over that can", but they never show up! The store Manager just stands around too. If you want to get frustrated waste your time in this store otherwise you're better just ordering on Amazon because it will be less frustrating. read more

You totally screwed up the sneaker section by making us wait for service instead of grabbing our own from the shelves. Last time I was there I waited over 30 minutes to tell the sales guy what I wanted. (There was only 1 other person there looking at sneakers) To make matters worse, the majority of sneakers sold are Nike, which I DO NOT wear so the remainder of brands are slim pickings. read more

I like the location itself as it's huge and has a wide range of sports goods and brands. I came in for a bike sweatband in black on a Tuesday and checked before hand that they had the item I wanted in stock in that store. When I got there there was every color but black so I asked the associate and they flat out told me "if it's not there then we don't have it". I came again today, Thursday and called in beforehand to confirm they have it. I went to where all the sweatbands were and there was no black one. I again asked a associate saying I checked the availability online and I called for the Nike headband. He cuts me off and says "relax lady I think I know where they are" first of all I'm in my early 20s so that was HIGHLY offensive. Then he walks down to the back and I follow him make sure he'll be able to find me. He ends up helping two other ppl before coming back to me with a huge box full of all black Nike sweatbands. Went there for a specific sport shoe. The first shoe department sales person I approached said hello and the literally walked in the other direction. No help. The second sales person I asked for help didn't speak English and didn't understand my question and couldn't help me.... They apologized. Never thought I'd buy my golf clubs here, given all the choices in the area. However, these guys offered great deals and they also had a great golf technician that was patient and let us try out a ton of clubs without hassling us. It's a great place to look for not only new clubs, but also some older (but arguably superior) sets that don't cost nearly as much as the top of the line models. I was able to score a somewhat hard to get set of Taylor Made Burner 2.0 drivers and irons fora great price. These clubs play amazingly well and I strongly recommend them. As for the service, the folks here are very friendly and it also helps that they have 2 simulators in the store. Thanks to the time I spent here, I felt I made a good decision. I was wandering around the bicycle area and there was 2 store employees and just myself. Didn't even bother asking if I needed help. During Covid, I'd think they'd want to make business ($$$) and sell a mountain bike and a children's bike that I was looking for.. granted, even if they don't have it in stock at the store I would have gladly placed the order through the store anyway and have it shipped to my home. Located in a strip mall area with plenty of parking spaces. I love coming here as I can get everything I need for the gym and more. The best part is their clearance clothing rack so don't forget to check it out. Summertime, this branch would have tent sales for all their clearance items like clothes and sneakers. I like that they sell Rutgers University gear and clothing. As a RU alumni, I can tell you the gears sold at Dicks are generally 25% to 40% cheaper than purchasing the clothing at RU campus stores. You can register for Dicks' free membership and collect points to redeem for coupons each time you shop in store or online. read more

I wouldn't say I love shopping at Dick's sporting good.. it's totally meh. There is just too much of the same thing, there's not really much of anything. The store is filled, but generally with the same type of merchandise. And try finding something bigger than a T-shirt or searching through 1000 pair of Nike sneakers- I'm talking like a real sporting good, most likely they're not going to have it in stock. Event took place 03/26/2021, approximately 7:00pm I had a real unfortunate experience at this location, and I will not be returning to this or any Dick's sporting good in the future. I tried to exchange a pair of Nike Alphafly sneakers that I suspected to be defective. The right sneaker began to tear within a month. This purchase was a "Buy-online-pickup-at-store" order (their terminology). My wife and I brought them to the store and the manager told my wife, they could not be returned to the store because they were an online only item, which I found out later was incorrect. He went as far as to scan them with the inventory gun to show us they were not available in-store. We asked him then why were they available for one-hour-pick-up when we purchased them. The manager said they may have been returned them accidently, which is a contradiction to what he said earlier about them not being returnable. The manager did not seem rude, so I left and said I would contact Nike. I contacted Dick's customer service and the repetitive was much more helpful. His name was Mathew! He explained that the item had to be returned to the store because of it's order category. After explaining what I just went through, he told me not to bother and gave me a one-time-return-slip. I learned while talking to Mathew that everything the manager told me store was incorrect. You can return online purchases, no mater if they're online exclusive purchases. Mathew told me that it didn't even matter because they were not online exclusives. They also do return the Nike Alphafly's in store. I'm not sure why the manager refused my return and made up a those policies. He clearly did not believe me, so he did not trust me. I will not be returning to this store in the future. I will not spend my money someplace where I am am note trusted or subject to bias treatment. Thank you Mathew for all the help. read more

I was extremely underwhelmed with my recent experience at Dicks. I came to this location tonight with my dad to get some sneakers. There was a good amount of shoppers in that department, around 10-12, and at least 4 people working in this area. My dad and I stood in front of one of the displays, which happened to be right next to the hallway near the stockroom, for almost 20 minutes before anyone even asked if we needed help. Before the young woman asked to help us we were brushed off by another employee who was "too busy helping someone else." The employee was able to get our shoes quickly but was very aloof and never checked on us. The only favorable part of the entire experience was the cashier, who was very nice and friendly. We came here because it was convenient, right next to our gym, but next time I think I'll drive a little further for a better experience. With a Sports Authority, REI and Modells in town, I'd much rather give one of them my business. read more

Dick's has some excellent products at great prices. I found two beautiful Shimano surf-cast rods at a great prices. I think these are the nicest rods that I have ever owned. They also have a buy-5-get-5 free deal on some nice lures! The employees  are helpful,   efficient, personable, knowledgeable, polite,  accommodating,   knowledgeable and professional.  I was assisted by Anthony on   11/25/2021(Cashier) and whenever I call by phone, the employees are   positive.  I was given excellent  advise about fishing and crabbing and   finding the equipment that I need.   I received a fantastic deal on  crab  nets and my nephews and their  mother had a great time at the  ocean  because of the equipment and advice  provided by the sales  associates.   I was also able to find the exact  size for a soccer ball  and shin  guards for a toddler.  I was impressed  when the associate  showed me  exactly where I could find what I needed.   All the employees  I have  encountered have been positive.  I only  remember some names  of employees, which include:  John (helpful twice (2)), Hamza, Justin, Kenneth, Othman and   Connor (6).  (The number next to the name is the number of times the person was helpful.) Past Review:   This store is well-equipped,    reasonably-priced, clean, neat and in a  nice area.  The employees  have   been professional, polite, efficient,  personable, knowledgeable  and   helpful, each time that I have shopped  here.  Valerie assisted  me,   during one of my visits, and so did the  store manager. My family recently purchased 3 bikes. Spent about $1300.00 at the Paramus location. We dealt with the bike manager on both occasions. I can't remember the last time I had such uninterested lackluster customer service. I know they are busy and bikes are difficult to get during these times but it was obvious that this guy couldn't care less. As if he was doing us a favor. I would expect this kind of service from an uninterested teenager but not from a grown man. He gave us our bikes all with practically no air in the tires didn't check them over or explain anything. I guess we're lucky to get bikes at a fair price but if it weren't for the pandemic and availability I would not have purchased here due to poor service. read more

Well their stance on firearms is ridiculous. Playing up to the sheeple. Maybe it is honestly their view and the people in offices may think it may play up their favor to gaining a customer. When those same customers shop online and don't visit the traditional brick and mortar shop. They also single out the other half that will boycott the business because of their stance. I still attempt to shop there regardless. Though, if you're going to sell the things, you should probably have someone man the counter where you sell those evil firearms. You also sell the same rifles that share the same bullet size and same firing speed as them. You only stop selling the ones that look cool and don't carry the name AR on them. ‍ Though you'll sell a cool looking shotgun with the same stock as an AR. ‍ So on top of not having good customer service, you carry zero sizes in youth shoes. I tried six or more different non competitive styles with other shoe stores and didn't have any sizes for them. I even offered up two boys with different sizes and you carried nothing. I previously shopped for wrestling gear which I ended up taking my business to amazon because your prices weren't competitive enough. So I'm amazed at how a major sporting goods store can even stay in business with high prices and no selection. My crystal ball sees the next toys r us and you'll get my business when you're having your going out of business sale. Thanks in advance for killing jobs in America because of an overall poor business model. Thank you for providing them an in store bathroom which not too many stores offer within a mall. I'd like to commend store manager Mike Behrens and his staff at Dick's for going above and beyond for a customer. My wife purchased a bike online for me for my birthday. We went to pick it up and it could not be located. Mike and his staff looked far and wide, but no bike. He located the bike in a central jersey store and picked it up on his way into work. For our inconvenience he discounted the bike and helmet for us too. Mike was on top of things with communication and did everything with a smile. This store it's on its last legs, similarly to Sports Authority prior to their closing. The store holds little stock and is always disorganized. I've had both negative and positive interaction with employees. Recently I ran in to grab a Yeti product and the selection was over-picked and I was unsuccessful. Sports Authority I believe has run it's course out in our area and when Dick's first came around I was excited. I had been to one in another part of Jersey and was blown away in a good way. How many puns can I fit in this review? Let's see!! They greet you when you walk in the door (who doesn't these days?!) and after that you can't find anyone to help you. That's fine by me, if I need help, I'll come find you...other than that assume I know what I'm doing. They have a huge golf section and if I played golf I would assume that's a good thing. Their collection of clothing is pretty good and they have a lot of local team stuff. It's bright, inviting and definitely worth stopping in. read more

Worst customer service experience. I had to inquire from multiple employees for a simple product (brace friendly mouth guards) - they would direct me to large quadrant of the store. Even the managers don't set the example of being more supportive by being specific in how to find the product needed. Lots of employees standing around with minimal knowledge and training. When I had a question for the one manager, she was clearly annoyed. They could all use a training in the Disney customer service manual! It's unfortunate that there is a year's worth of poor customer service reviews and little improvement. read more

This place sometimes has good prices, but it is so big and so football/baseball oriented that fans of other sports won't feel welcome. Also, the self-service footwear area is always understocked and styles are mixed up. If they had the shoes organized in the back room, it would be so much better for customers because workers would know exactly where to look for sizes and styles. It's just a giant chain store that tries to give the impression they care, but they really don't. UPDATE 6/22/2018: The shoe section is no longer self-serve. When I went there some judgemental A- hole was behind the counter. I asked him for the ammo and he said they were out (without even looking). I asked for a variation of it and he said the same thing ( not even carrying a glance at the tightly locked ammo cabinets. I told him I looked it up on line and they showed in stock. I need to get my son a new competition swimsuit. Since so many of these types of stores have gone out of business I chose to go to Dick's. I WISH I HAD ANOTHER OPTION!!!! To start the swimsuits have been recently moved so I approached a sales associate to ask for where they were. As I approached I heard him say out loud "I f@ck'n hate this place. I asked at which point he practically ran to its location so fast that my son was laughing cause we couldn't keep up. Then we asked another associate to open the dressing room so he could try it on. When my son came out to show me the suit (he's only 10) the door locked behind him. I asked for someone to reopen the door at which point a middle aged woman came and said "you know ya just need to push the button! " with a major attitude. My son said what is wrong with these people? As she walked away another associate said to her "Do you have a gun cause I can't talk it anymore?!" I have been in a managerial position for over 24 years and never have I seen or heard staff like this. When I told the cashier she laughed and said sorry about that. Went here earlier to get some clothes. Right off the bat I was very pleased with all the selections that I had to choose from. I needed basketball shorts & when I went to their basketball section, they were very well stocked. I also had to get some golf polos for work & when I went to that section they also had a great selection to choose from. When I had to try on some clothes there were plenty of staff members on the floor to open the fitting room door for me. When checking out, the staff member ringing me up was very kind & held a great conversation while bagging my clothes. Also, they had a GREAT sale today on their basketball shorts which I was very happy about. Overall, it was a great trip to this store. read more
