Well, the name explains it all. Just take the S off and that's how people usually respond to you when you're in the building or in the parking lot and I'm not talking about the clientele. Every time I go in there to find products I've seemed to have the same experience where most of the employees hate their job and don't wanna be there. Apparently the inventory itself is one step up junk. It all looks good on the outside, but the equipment is definitely subpar and that's being nice. At least the floors are clean. At least they were when I was there. Sadly it seems like everything's overpriced like I said, and even their hunting section is all Gucci crap that no one would really use at least the real hunters. And that's even if you have a section like that. Seriously the whole place is going downhill and I don't think they even know it. This is not just for one location I frequent at least five looking for a single product and they did not even have that even when I called in person on the other line, sadly was not helpful and their website is not helpful in the least sadly. if I had a negative score, I would probably give it here. read more

Went to the golf department to buy a new pair of Foot Joy shoes. I found a pair I liked but wanted to try them on before paying for them. I am 83 years old and need a shoehorn to put on shoes. Can you believe that they did not have one in the golf department. One of their employees told me they have never had a shoehorn in golf. They checked the shoe department and they didn't have one either! It would seem to me to be a major failing on the part of the store manager and both department managers not to have something as basic as a shoehorn in a store that sells shoes. I left frustrated and without buying the $190 golf shoes. Dick's is heading in the same direction as other box store who have lost their customer base. They appear to have forgotten who pays the bills to keep the store open. If I wanted to buy shoes and try them on at home, I would have ordered them on Amazon. read more

Went in tonight to see if they'd refund or exchange my daughters nike270's that cost $160 since they began getting holes in the top of them after wearing them just a few weeks. The sales associates told us to go get a different pair and they'd exchange and when we returned to the checkout, they informed me that their manger said they couldn't do anything for us since we purchased them too long ago. Just bought them for going back to school. Wasted my time. A pair of $160 shoes shouldn't start getting holes that fast when they are hardly wore. They have been out of Stanley cups for weeks. A Dick's is a Dick's if they're doing things right. Friendly floor staff, check. Helpful department heads, check. Good selection of similar gear to choose from, check. What I always think is interesting is their pricing. I went in looking for golf balls and looked at golf pants while I was meandering. Every pair I looked at, $80. Coincidence or genius pricing strategy? Time will tell. Some low, mid and high options would be preferable I'd think. read more

Their "sales pricing is a gimmick." Orange dots, green dots, yellow dots, some with a percentage off and some with the prices as marked. I want to relax when I'm shopping, just tell me the price and stop making me hunt for dots and read signs to see what amount is off....or worse, I hunt down my dot, check the board and the item is simply the price marked. Why? I don't work there, I'm simply shopping, just price your items. read more

We purchased a Proform 9000 treadmill online at Dicks. Found it cheaper everywhere but Dicks. It was my Christmas gift and hubby didn't bother to shop for best deal. I found it at Costco $700. less. I spent time doing paperwork gathering the ISBN model no etc and call the store said we're coming in since they price match. It took 45 minutes to solve this simple problem. they tried to tell me it was being recalled and the computer wouldn't let them return it. How is that our problem? My husband wanted to leave and i said let's do this with online company then. We got our money but it shows how they price gauge their merchandise. Everything i'm that store is more expensive and their coupons are so strict i never used one in my life. They don't apply to UA,Nike, North Face, etc. I have a scorecard and have not had one coupon that I can use. If you spend hundreds of dollars you get $5 coupon. I will never go back to this store. Unbelievably inefficient and scammers. Your price match honor system is a lie. u the way two parts were damaged when we opened the box and they told us to bring it back ? Do they know how heavy this equipment is? It would take a moving truck it's an all day fiasco to do so. We left the store with them telling us to contact Proform for the missing parts. read more

I'm usually not one to shop here, ever. The prices are high and I can never find a good deal on anything. UNTIL TODAY...my step son and I only went her because he begged me lol he wanted new shoes for school. Reluctant, I said okay. We looked around for maybe 10 minutes and everything he pointed out was $140, $150..my heart sank. Ugh, but I wanted him to get a new pair so I said keep looking. He found an awesome pair of high top Nike shoes that I just loved, so naturally, thought they would be the most expensive yet. THEY WERE $67.99!!!!!! When I tell you I almost couldn't contain myself, it's an understatement. They were ours, we wanted them NOW lol I walked around to find someone to grab his size and found Xavier. The first thing he did was hand my step son a starburst candy (fully wrapped, don't panic, I didn't) and then looked up to see if they had our size. Unfortunately they did not, but Xavier said we could do an online order and I wasn't letting these get away from me! When he rang up the shoes, they came up at $71.99 plus tax, so my total was like $76 and some change. He explained to me the reasoning for the discrepancy, which made sense but in my mind was upset they were mis-marked. Didn't say anything, was still gonna proceed with my transaction because we both really liked these shoes. Xavier finished ringing us up, gave Mason another starburst candy and said "you guys follow me" as he walked to the front, went to a register AND RANG US UP A $25 GIFTCARD, and said "sorry for the inconvenience, I hope this helps" I almost started crying!! I really couldn't believe it. I literally have not seen generosity like this since someone paid it forward on my Starbucks drink like 7-8 years ago. He didn't know us, he was extremely busy when I asked him to stop what he was doing and see if they had our size in this shoe. Truly reminded me of why life can be good, and how thankful I am to be living it. Generosity PAYS, we will be back soon read more

Really great experience in the golf department. Went their looking for a new driver and found one in my price range. Justin in the golf pro shop set me up in the demo area and let me take plenty of swings with a few different clubs. Not only was I able to test clubs, Justin gave me some great advice and tips on my swing! Great experience overall. read more

You know what? I told my kids that this was going to be the quickest dicks trip ever and I was shocked that it was even faster than j anticipated. I walked to the service desk and pulled out a deflated basket ball that needed some sort of needle pump. The man at the door was unwrapping some gloves and he said,"oh I have pump right here!" And then seconds later I was back in my car. Awesome. read more

Thinking of going back to dicks cause it's closer to me. Then I come across the reviews and think nope.... I'll go a little farther to REI. I'm so tired of wasting my time at dicks. Their selection and customer service is horrible. Maybe that's why you see everyone around town wearing a black north face. That's all they carry! Lol. The employees have been mediocre to downright rude whereas at REI or moose jaw the employees seem like they enjoy helping you buy exactly what you need and they are knowledgable. read more

This is the worst Sporting Goods store that I've ever been to. First of all, they are way under staffed, it's a huge waiting game. With that being said, I can be as patient as a saint, but wow, it might be a requirement to have no where to be in order to get service at this place. I waited around for 45 minutes just to get some help on a pre-order... then another 30 minutes to ask a couple of simply questions on some fitness equipment they had. (By the way, DO NOT BUY ANY "FITNESS GEAR" products, they stories I could tell about the quality issues I had are by far the worst issues I have ever had with a product). My questions about their fitness equipment went unanswered, I don't think the guy had much knowledge about gym equipment, etc. In addition to the 1 hour and 15 minutes that I waited about, I waited another 45 minutes to check out, most of it was to locate and gather my pre-order (which an email I received said it was ready...), then I waited in this enormous line where one staff member was herding people to 1 of 2 cash registers, and this was 2 days before Christmas... How you can be both so understaffed and have such incompetency is bewildering. And by the way, I've been to other Dicks Sporting Goods and I've been very happy with their service, the Dicks Sporting Goods in Novi is awesome. read more

My father and I went to Dicks recently. We were in search of a certain product, which was in the sporting goods section. I had a coupon for 25% off on my phone and it said "some exclusions apply". We asked an employee in the sporting goods section about the coupon and if it excluded the item we were trying to buy, mentioning that it didn't list the exclusions in the fine print. He said read the fine print again because it says the terms in there. We repeated the before mentioned statement and he just said "I can't help you then" and walked away. We asked him other questions about this item we were buying later, and he was just very rude. If we do come back to this store, we will be avoiding this employee and his negativity. read more

Truly disappointed by what happened at this Dick's today. My friend called to see if there was someone who could help him fix the scope on his gun (a 10 minute procedure) and it was around 820. We called knowing they would be closed at 930 but we also knew how long it would take to work with the gun. When we asked if there was anyone authorized to help us the associate who answered said "I guess I can check but just remember we close at 930" and then the next person to talk to us at The Lodge was just as keen on reminding us when they close. In the end we never got our question answered and the guns scope is still not properly on. But hey, at least we know FOR SURE that they close at 930 on saturday. read more
