I recently tried to have my bike repaired at D & D because I had a good experience with the shop a few years back. Unfortunately, their business model has changed and they will only service bikes that they sell, and they only sell the Giant brand for the most part. I was trying to give the local shop some business with a certain possibility of purchasing a new bike in the not so distant future. The shop owner was very rude and I guess they didn't need anymore customers because there's a snowball's chance in hell that I will purchase anything from this shop. They have a very superior attitude and they had turned down another customer right before we got there. Good luck with the pending recession! read more

Don't bother trying to get your bicycle repaired here if you didn't buy it from them. They have a policy that unless your bike was purchased from them, they won't repair it. The question I have is, after moving back to Brighton, having been working out of state for several years, my family of 5 is in need of bicycle repair and possible upgrades. Maybe even a new bike or 2. Why would I consider buying anything from them if I can't even have one of my 5 bikes repaired now. Sorry, very very poor business policy. read more

Purchased a hardtail mountain bike here almost 2 years ago, and it came with free service. The price was good. The sales people were nice. I've just struggled with the service department. I've had chronic issues with broken spokes (3 broken spokes over the course of the last 4 or 5 casual trail rides; I mean just casual cruising on a beginner cross-country trail). The shop has replaced spokes but hasn't helped resolve the problem. I've also requested they tune up the shifting while the bike is in the shop, since that service plan was included with purchase of the bike. They've never done anything more than the paid repair, leaving me to try to dial in the cable tensions myself. Finally, I had the front shock pressure adjusted at the shop after realizing the suspension was bottoming out regularly. They informed me that I need to top off the pressure every few rides. Before my first ride this spring, I went to top off the pressure, only to realize that it was much higher than recommended. The guys at D&D must have put way too much pressure in it if the bike was ridden a couple times, sat for 7 months, and it was still 30% above the upper limit of the recommended pressure. I really want to like this place for many reasons, but I'm struggling to maintain loyalty. read more

Great experience here! I wish I knew the name of the man who helped us. He was excellent & very thorough in helping me find the bike that will best suite my needs. He explained what to look for and helped us understand the benefits of buying a bike that fits you. He didn't pressure us into buying anything & explained to us the benefits of the service they provide down the road. I shopped around locally & ended up coming back here to buy my bike! This store provided nothing for me. Wanted to get a professional fit with my new bike and was sold too small a bike and had to return it. Took a week to get ill fitted bike. Told me they had to order another bike and it would be in with my son's bike in another week. Called the day they said they should both put together and ready to go, only to find out that they ordered the wrong size for my son and "he needs a bigger size but they don't have ordered size or the new larger size". Said they would locate another bike for him and that was 4 days ago? and haven't heard a peep out of them. Needless to say? I will not be giving them my 1200 dollars for 2 bikes. Looked for a full suspension high quality bicycle for a year. Department store imports weren't going to work for my aging spine, and I didn't want a bike that wouldn't hold up- but must fit the budget, too. Friend told me about D&D Brighton, and I stopped in for a look. The staff was quite helpful, well informed and did not try to up-sell me out of my budget. The selection was large, and if a bike I wanted wasn't there, they'd bring one in for me. I had already shopped other stores with no luck. I thought I'd have to settle for "close enough" or break the bank on a wonder-bike that was just to advanced for me. The staff informed me that I could return any bike after 30 days - for a refund or another bike. They allowed me a decent amount of time riding in their neighborhood. There was no pressure or hassle, and every question I had was fully answered. I wound up with a great Giant Stance- a high quality bike with seamless shifting and fully tune-able suspension that mimicked ADV motorcycles. The bike is light-weight, durable and glides over bumps - greatly reducing the shock to my spine. The price was surprisingly affordable, less than some other makes without rear suspension. The technicians set it up well for me and gifted me some small items helpful in dismantling the wheels for transport, airing the tires - thoughtful stuff. The store is well stocked with all the accessories and gadgets you could ask for. Overall great experience. Customer satisfaction is still around ! read more

Its too bad... I brought my bike in for simple repair/maintenance, took over a week. They gave me a break on the tune up because it took so long (even though there were no calls etc to let me know things were running behind, they said they would update me)... so far I can live with the resolve... only to have the derailer not work properly on my first ride. When I take it back. they say they want me to leave the bike because they are too busy to look at it. I say it need it back at minimum 3 days later and they say "don't leave it!"... i say "for real?" They say we aren't going to make any promises... I said that's the best you can do? again he simply says, don't leave the bike... so I leave... of course saying this is ridiculous. I then took it to another shop (where they looked at it immediately) and said the chain was about 6 links too short and the derailer arm is damaged from hitting the casset... they fixed it immediately. BTW I was not real happy so i called the corporate D&D store in Westland... they listened, they guy was nice apologized and thanked me for calling, he took my name and number, then nothing...
