If you aren't sure what you want, this is the place. They had it in stock. I was unsure of a medium vs. large frame - of which they had both in stock! This is where Lance got involved. As a trained fit specialist, he confirmed my preference for a medium made sense. Great bike. Great service. But then- 100 miles later, I had an issue due to a manufacturing defect. Long story short, Lance expedited the warranty process and helped me out with a rapid repair. I'm not here to review the bike but I want to add that the issue I experienced is rare and both the manufacturer and the retailer did what needed to be done to give me full confidence moving forward. I tried a lot of bikes. This is a quality brand and Town and Country has a full selection in stock. They are located in a nice strip of town within walking distance of an array of other retail shops. A nice area to visit.

I've been to several bike shops before, and this is one of my favorites. I never felt pressured to buy anything, and their associates here are KNOWLEDGEABLE. They really know their shit. They don't try to make you buy anything, but rather give their honest opinions. When I was waiting for my bike the other day, I heard them talk someone OUT of buying something and they explained why they didn't think it'd be best for them. If you ask, they'll install anything you buy there on your bike and they haven't charged me for any of it. They'll install bike racks on your car if you want. I've called and asked for prices on a grocery list of things, and I never felt rushed or like I was inconveniencing them. I bought some pannier bags and took them home and I didn't like they way they fit my bike, so I returned them for a full refund - no hassle at all. I brought back a bike mirror that I didn't think worked well on my bike. They offered a full refund but also asked for a chance to help me first - not sure what I was doing wrong when I did it myself, but they positioned it in a way that made it work perfectly fine. I've mostly worked with Travis who is awesome, but others I've worked with are really awesome too (there's a guy there I've worked with a couple times who wears a hat with a bandana face mask [this is during COVID outbreak] and he's really great, but I haven't caught his name). The staff at Town and Country KNOW bikes and they're not simply in it for a commission. I liked my first bike and experience here so much that I bought a second one for my wife and was happy I was able to purchase it here. If you're looking for a new bike and are interested in any of the brands they carry, definitely check them out.

I was looking for a fairly budget option, a bike I can feel comfortable locking up outside in Ann Arbor and Detroit and that I wouldn't be devastated to have stolen (although I'm not inviting that...!). I swung by the ReUse Center hoping to get lucky, but lucky I was not. I checked Craigslist but the thought of setting up multiple appointments to check out random bikes, most or all of which I would probably decide against, sounded like more work than I was willing to put in. This is where On Your Left came in. I came across an online mention of On Your Left that noted the limited hours but praised the owner for his knowledge and fairness; it also said he carries more used bikes than apparent in photos currently online. I decided to investigate. Initially I drove past; the signage for the On Your Left part of the business should be larger/clearer so people know they're in the right place. I was hesitant to enter the store simply because it did not look like a bike shop on the outside. However, I was on a mission and was undeterred. It turns out that, although the shop is small, there are indeed refurbished bikes inside. I think there were around a dozen on the day I was there. They ranged in price from approximately $150 and up, and included a variety of models, men's and women's both. If I remember correctly, there was even a child's bike available. I saw a bike that looked close to what I was looking for (a women's mountain bike with a size medium frame) and asked Luciana, one of the co-owners of the shop, if I could take it for a test ride. She got the bike out for me and told me to take it for as many spins around the block as I wanted. I did take it out for 3 brief rides, making adjustments to the seat height, checking out the gears and brakes, and taking some time to think about it. She was completely patient with me and did not try to persuade me but instead let me spend time with the bike and decide on my own. I really appreciated that since salespeople who pester customers to make a purchase will drive me away from a business every time. I did end up purchasing the bike, an entry-level Raleigh model with Shimano components in perfect working order for $160 + tax. I was fine with the price given that the bike has been refurbished wonderfully and there was nothing I had to do to get it into working order. I left feeling really happy and excited about my new used bike! Luciana was wonderful, taking time to check the air in the tires, adding more so it was in the correct pressure range, and giving me a few tips. She also said I should feel free to stop by when I need the tires pumped up. If I need repairs on this bike or on my higher-end bike (that, alas, resides in a locked building apart from where I currently live), I will definitely return to On Your Left for those services. There was no condescending attitude here and no pressure to buy anything. Nothing but wonderful, personal service from business owners trying to make a go of doing the things they love, adding something unique to Ann Arbor (not easy to do!) in an out of the way location that is definitely worth seeking out. Walked in early afternoon on a weekday…read more(without an appointment) with the vague idea that I was interested in getting an ebike to start bike commuting to work downtown, to use an alternative to driving for things like going to the farmer's market or running an errand, and hopefully to be able to enjoy leisure biking as well. Clayton patiently answered all my questions, listened to me describe my use cases and what I cared about (safety being very important to me), and talked me through some good options. We picked out an ebike that seemed to really make sense for me, and then he spent the extra time to help me pick out the accessories that I needed out of the options available (helmet, rear view mirror, bike lock, panniers). I was able to test ride the bike (which rode so smoothly) and got a rundown on all the main functions. He also ended up test riding it and made some adjustments that he thought would make the whole bike experience better for me - like adding carabiner fasteners for the panniers on top of the default velco straps which were clunky, throwing in a bright safety vest in my "swag bag", and making sure I had a system for my bike key. The little extra things! I appreciated being able to walk in with a vague idea and walk out (maybe an hour fifteen later) confident with a purchase and ready to start riding (no reading through instruction manuals or bike adjustments needed!). Also note that they have their own parking lot in the back, which is convenient!

I have a pretty bad knee injury that's was causing me pain on the bike and pain in life for a long time. I use Garmin Vector pedals so I can see the power differences between each leg. I was displaced by 3% or more regularly when riding and after my fit it was almost perfectly even. The ride was great as well. No pain anywhere. First the good, and the reason for the one star (not that I could give less anyway)... the sales…read morestaff was very friendly. Kudos for that. Now for the bad, and let me preface this by mentioning that I spent a good portion of my adulthood racing and working in various bike shops. And I was the service manager in one, so I have a LOT of bike mechanic experience. If I were the service manager of this shop, I'd have fired the person who built my bike. Today I bought a particular TREK MTB at this store, because unfortunately my usual store didn't have one and couldn't get one. First problem: you are NOT supposed to use grease on a carbon seatpost with a carbon frame. It's LITERALLY PRINTED on the back of the seatpost, though it's something any good mechanic should know anyway. Sure enough they assembled it with tons of grease, and within just a 1 mile ride, the post slid down a good inch. So I degreased the post, and put 'carbon paste' on it to keep it from happening again. Second problem (picture attached): they mounted the remote shock lockout outboard of the brake lever, which means there's nowhere for your thumb to go when you wrap your hand around the grip. A simple look at the TREK website shows it's installed wrong. And switching them around after requires removing the grip. Sometimes that can be done without destroying the grip, sometimes it can't. So I've already had to buy new grips to fix their mistake. There were several other minor things that never would have been acceptable at my shop, but this is long enough already. I guess if you're looking for a very basic shop, or if you have your own mechanical skills, they're an acceptable choice. Otherwise, I'd highly suggest you look elsewhere. Oh, also, to make it even more insulting, they try to sell you a $150 tune-up plan, which just means you pay up front to have them continue to provide you with subpar repair service. Disappointed mostly because working in a bike shop was always more than just a blow-off job to me. Sad to see that's not the case here. I won't be back.
