I didn't think much of this store. I don't like the layout. I was looking for hiking boots and they were in the archery department, I had almost left. Bad enough I had to take them to the shoe department to try them on then return them. Wow! My recent visit to this store was impressive. I took my four year old nephew to get some new gear for his first season of soccer. I was met by a team of helpful associates and what I assume is the manager. Three escorted me to the soccer section, helped us pick out some soccer socks and on top of that they gave us a free soccer ball. I was trying to get my nephew amped up for soccer and the team at Dick's in Oceanside helped me out!!! I give this store a 10 out of 10 on customer service. Tennis gear options are so bad. The only tennis court shoes they carry are low end piles of crap intermingled in the trainer shoe section. Racquet, string, and bag selection are minimal and all low end. This place is essentially a complete bust for tennis gear period. The ONLY place that carries a good selection for tennis is all the way out in San Marcos so I'd think Dick's would do well if they carried a wider selection for tennis ‍. read more

WANT CORONAVIRUS!!?? Go to this location!! Today my husband and I went in and intended to buy Christmas gifts for nearly everyone in the family. However, after seeing several customers without masks we decided to exit the store soon after we got there. I asked an employee if masks were mandatory at this store and she said, "we try to make everyone wear them". WHAT??? Are you serious?? I will never ever, ever buy from Dick's again. Not only is the women's shoe section full of shoes they only have in large men's sizes but the shoe people are hard to find, have no personality, are playing basketball in the back- will get you a pair and then walk away..... they really are useless..... read more

Justin was extremely helpful and efficient helping my son with his new sneakers. This was the best experience we've had at any Dick's Spotting Goods. Justin got shoes to us quickly (he had no idea we were actually in a hurry and on our way to a party when I noticed how beat up and unpresentable my son looked in his old sneakers). I also loved how Justin told my son that his current sneakers were months overdue for replacement and that it was my son's responsibility to let mom or dad know it's time for new kicks as wearing worn shoes like the ones he had on will ruin your feet and posture as you grow! We've been telling our son this but it never resonates unless it comes from someone else, so kudos to Justin! We got more than just shoes, my son got a valuable tip. Thank you Justin! read more

2019: Mike in the shoes was awesome. I'm a Brooks fan, but Dicks didn't have the recommended shoe that Brooks advised, so I started looking at other options in Brooks. I've got severe PF and a torn L4/L5. I've been told not to run...which I honored for about 8 months. However, since I just couldn't handle doing the elliptical all of the time, I've eased back into running. Of course I won't be running marathons ever again, but the treadmill is my friend. Anyway, Mike is super honest and knowledgeable. He knew the different types of Brooks and he even offered up the flip flop brand that I was looking at for PF. Thanks so much Mike! read more

I try to give them my money but I just don't think they want it. They really need to hire some employees that have a clue what service is, actually they should hire some employees. No one is ever working in the golf department. Which I kind of understand as their prices are so much higher than other golf shops. I recently purchased a jacket for $119 I didn't realize but when I grab the hanger it was marked extra large but the jacket was a large when I tried to return I had my receipt I was trying to exchange it for the correct size which they didn't have so when I went to get my money back they told me that they could only give me the sale price of $59.00 they also told me that Jacket had been returned already which I had in my hand when they scan my receipt they can find my information but yet I had the receipt in my hand with the credit card number on it , they refuse to honor what I paid for ended up getting $59 i'm not gift card instead of the full price that I paid for so much for customer service and customer is always right. Manager Katie was the worst in customer service. First she avoided her duties by not talking directly to me as a customer but sent another staff member to relay her message. I thought she got paid as a manager to talk to customers. Then she lied about a product being in stock but sold out between the two hour of my phone call to see if the product was in stock.However the "messenger" stated the product didn't exist anywhere within Dicks. Maybe coincidental that the product-was held back until after their big sale. The product is available with amazon and the manufacturer so it is interesting they report it on there website but can't find one in the entire state. Quite interest! I went in needing to buy an air mattress for an overnight guest. The guy who "helped" me was nice but less than useless. When you go to a store to buy stuff, it's not unreasonable to expect that employee to know something about the stuff. He showed me 2 options with information he was reading off the product packaging. I selected a Coleman River Gorge which was a piece of crap-but that's for a different review. The employee never mentioned I needed 4 batteries. At 10 pm on a weekend night, while attempting to get the product inflated, I note the directions on a paper inside the box stated I needed those batteries. So off I went to a variety of stores open late in search of the batteries. Spoiler alert to the morons who manage this store: train employees to help customers. What a concept! read more

This store totally hits the mark of a Dicks Sporting Goods Store. If you want stuff specific to surf and do scuba there are plenty of places down the street. I just became a new golfer and Mark in the golf department has been a huge help. I've been there twice since the store has opened and Mark really goes above and beyond for his customers as far as hooking you up with quality gear and not making it seem at all like he's trying to hard sell you. He has confidence in his store knowing that it truly is the best place to shop. Also Mark made some improvements to my golf swing and I literally played the best round of my life the next day. Mark is an awesome stand up guy and if you need any help as far as golf definitely go to him! The store is also huge and has quality gear. Layout almost the same as the Encinitas store but it's still a great easy layout to see everything read more

I'd give this specific location 0 stars if I could. Went in yesterday (a Thursday around 7:30p) to buy some hiking shoes for my young daughter. Everything seemed overpriced, but I was a bit desperate (since Amazon prime wouldn't deliver on time, ha!). There must have been 6 shoppers in total in the entire store. For the first 10-15 minutes, we didn't even see a single worker there! Finally someone came out in the shoe department and was what I can only describe as a sullen teenager, who begrudgingly asked if I need 'something'. Zero help so we decided to leave. Horrible experience with the worst customer experience! We went in because online stated hey had a certain item, it was hard to find anyone working on the sales floor so working in retail myself we brought up the item we wanted and asked her to check in her computer to see if they had any in back in stock. She mumbled through her speaker to the back and said nope sorry we have none. We ended up buying out second choice but both seemed to not believe her because her was of checking seemed to be a little lazy, I walked to the back waited for an employee to come out from the back had them check and hey had the item! Go figure. Never will be coming back here again, this location really should are up their customer service. read more

I received great service at this store. My son lost his baseball glove and needed one in a hurry. They were super understanding and got the glove steamed same day even though it was December 23rd. We will go to this store in the future even though there is another Dicks closer. read more

Best way to describe the employees --- dead from the neck up. I called to see if they carried waders for my husband to wear when he goes fishing. The guy who answered the phone didn't even know what they are so he transferred me to another dead head who said that he didn't know whether or not they carried them but he'd take a look. Came back to the phone and said yes we have a few. I questioned him to make sure that he knew what I meant and he knew. I'll post more after I drive all the way over there.
