HELP: the action of helping someone to do something, assistance. This situation began on August 21,2017, when we were told to go to Sport About in order to purchase RBV duffle bags. We entered the store and were told they were sold out. Denise, the customer service representative on the floor told us to try back on Monday 28th. I called and was told no deliveries came but I could call daily if I wanted. To see if they arrived I called on the 31st, I was told in a snide and nasty tone that they were out of Texas and Denise hung up on me. Rude, but okay. Perhaps she had a bad day. She did say I could call daily. Well, on Friday, I called and Denise went crazy. Shouting, "I told you they were out of Texas and then shouted, people are dying, Don't you get it! She then roared,"You and your daughters should go to church and pray for forgiveness because all you care about are duffle bags." I said, excuse me what did you just yell at me." She then screamed, "You know what, GO F*** YOURSELF!" And she slammed the phone. I immediately called back to ask for her name and the owners name because Someone needs to know how horrible this person has just been to a customer. Helping in a store that is based on the customer service and how one of the most important things that can set your business apart from others. She retorted in the most discourteous booming voice, "Oh ya, I'm the owner and don't ever call here again and don't ever come back to my store!!" Back to the H E L P.... My husband and son were on their way to Big 5 and spotted this store on the way and decided to stop in and see if they had baseball socks. They walked in, were greeted and asked what they needed. They said red baseball socks. She pointed out the way and said "He'll need a large." They grabbed the large, paid, and walked out to the truck. He tried one on and it came all the way up to his thigh. He walked back right back in the store and asked to exchange them for a smaller size. She refused because he didn't have the "package" which was a cardboard flap. He had to purchase another pair because they were going to his game and didn't have a choice. She was very rude and it's pretty ridiculous that she couldn't just exchange them and keep the package from the other pair. Sport About in Vista is a great local sporting goods shop to get not only the items/merchandise you need but you can bet that you will leave there with some great advice and/or life lessons. The owner, Denise will always share helpful hints and goes way out of her way to make sure your kids are fit perfectly for equipment, clothing, etc. She truly knows her stuff and as mentioned before, she will never try and sell you anything you don't need. In fact, I have seen her talk people out of expensive bats because she knew the kid either did not need it or it simply was not the bat for them. Most shops will do anything for a sale. The owner Denise is all about the kids and the community as well. If you needed her last dollar so your kid could participate in sports or anything, she wouldn't blink an eye!! She gets hit-up for donations to the local leagues, high schools, etc. and never turns them down. Sport About is the source for the softball caps that we all wear in the Senior Softball League (55 and over ). My kids playing juniors in a local league - messed up the jersey order, hats were delivered on time but could barely fit a 8 year old they are so small, and the baseball socks won't last through the first inning the quality is so bad. BUYERS BEWARE!!! This store does not tell you that all sales are final, on EVERYTHING! I went there to get some softball pants for my daughter. When she did not like them, I decided to return them. Once I arrived and tried to return them, they told me that the store policy is "all sales are final" and to check my receipt, as it is printed in small letters on the bottom. It is very dishonest, unprofessional, and just not okay for a company to do that. A store should tell you about their no-return policy BEFORE you buy an item! I stood in there for a solid 30 minutes trying to find something else and heard a transaction which they did not say a thing about their no- return policy. No sign, no warning, nothing. I like to support small and local businesses but owner has been rude consistently but I always just shrugged it off. This is the last straw. We will NEVER step foot in this store again. Absolutely horrible place. I called about getting our teams jerseys printed and was told to bring them in 1.5 days before needed for the Saturday game. So I walk in with jerseys for a whole team of 6 year olds, washed and ready just like I was told to do and the lady tells me "yea sorry it's not worth it to me for the cost to do another team, I had the ones I was going to do done already" I proceeded to explain that I specifically called and she said too bad. The store is ok. The owner stated that her store is family owned and operated, however she was very rude to us. She snapped at our family because my 3 year old daughter accidentally dropped the pink helmet she had picked out to buy. The owner said she didn't apreciate her " new merchandise hitting the floor!" Upon going home my Mom told me that I could have bought used baseballs because my brother just uses them in the back yard for fun. I was worried I wouldn't get my $50 back from the brand new balls because Sport About does not have a return policy. Great shopping experience. Purchased T-ball equipment, bat, glove and owner graciously threw in a t-ball since this was my grandson's first baseball start up purchase. Came home and had easy set up and grown son and grandson have been playing t-ball for last hour. EXCELLENT QUALITY!! I had purchased a more expensive T at another store and it kept falling apart every time child missed and hit T. This one bounces right back like quality they have in T-Ball games. Shame on me for wasting time at national retailers instead of remembering to shop @ my local sports store. Haven't needed items since my own kids are grown, but here comes 2nd round with grandkids. I see that the owner commented on my review. I am just now seeing it. I would like to clarify for anyone who reads both my review or her response.... My children were not throwing anything! My 3 year old daughter accidentally dropped the pink baseball helmet she had so excitedly picked out and we were planning on purchasing. I would have apologized for my daughter's innocent accident but no one was around to say sorry to...We had been in the store for at least 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We were abruptly acknowledged by the owner herself, after the helmet was dropped. She came stomping down the stairs stating "I better come see If I can help you find something so I don't have to hear my new merchandise hitting the ground anymore!" This is how we were treated. We should have left at this point but instead tried to continue to shop for what we needed but the owner followed me around and was completely rude. I confronted her and she stated she had the right to be rude because she was the owner. We left and went to dicks and spent around $200, which included a pink helmet. It might be a big chain store but we were greeted at the door and given very helpful, friendly service. I have driven past Sport about several times since to go to Dicks in vista and will continue to. I just wanted to clarify that the owner's comment/response of our experience was not accurate! I understand the need to protect one's investment...but more importantly, as a mother, consumer and reasonable person, I know accidents happen.
