We had a great experience here today with purchasing a new batting helmet for my son. Denise was extremely helpful and personable and made our shopping experience so enjoyable. We not only left with a batting helmet but with some helpful tips! Definitely coming back for my sporting needs and avoiding the big box store! read more

Sports you say? Heck Yes! (Channeling my inner Napoleon Dynamite). Sport about here has the best selection of equipment for most all ages for soccer, baseball, softball, football and more. They specialize in team uniforms and equipment. What I like here is you wont get the deer in the headlights look when you have a question on an item or specification. This is what the team here does. The person your talking to about a baseball mitt, doesn't also work in the women's wear department or at the snack bar. They do this well and they offer only the products that Ive seen most chain sports stores only offer as premium. read more

Denise has been the most helpful in all my granddaughters needs for softball. Each time we are needing something we check there first and we are pleasantly surprised that she has the item. HELP: the action of helping someone to do something, assistance. This situation began on August 21,2017, when we were told to go to Sport About in order to purchase RBV duffle bags. We entered the store and were told they were sold out. Denise, the customer service representative on the floor told us to try back on Monday 28th. I called and was told no deliveries came but I could call daily if I wanted. To see if they arrived I called on the 31st, I was told in a snide and nasty tone that they were out of Texas and Denise hung up on me. Rude, but okay. Perhaps she had a bad day. She did say I could call daily. Well, on Friday, I called and Denise went crazy. Shouting, "I told you they were out of Texas and then shouted, people are dying, Don't you get it! She then roared,"You and your daughters should go to church and pray for forgiveness because all you care about are duffle bags." I said, excuse me what did you just yell at me." She then screamed, "You know what, GO F*** YOURSELF!" And she slammed the phone. I immediately called back to ask for her name and the owners name because Someone needs to know how horrible this person has just been to a customer. Helping in a store that is based on the customer service and how one of the most important things that can set your business apart from others. She retorted in the most discourteous booming voice, "Oh ya, I'm the owner and don't ever call here again and don't ever come back to my store!!" Back to the H E L P.... Here is what I do know: 1) Denise is in serious need of HELP! 2) she shouts at me to go to church and pray for forgiveness and in the next sentence she howls go F*** YOURSELF! Who DOES that? 3)Denise... for HELP please call (1-888-565-4228). This number is for a safe and therapeutic evaluation for adults with acute behavioral health assessments and needs. 4) Denise, HELP is only a phone call away! 5) Beware, this woman is crazy!!! I'm writing this because I want everyone to know that Her business should NOT be supported by this community!!! read more

My husband and son were on their way to Big 5 and spotted this store on the way and decided to stop in and see if they had baseball socks. They walked in, were greeted and asked what they needed. They said red baseball socks. She pointed out the way and said "He'll need a large." They grabbed the large, paid, and walked out to the truck. He tried one on and it came all the way up to his thigh. He walked back right back in the store and asked to exchange them for a smaller size. She refused because he didn't have the "package" which was a cardboard flap. He had to purchase another pair because they were going to his game and didn't have a choice. She was very rude and it's pretty ridiculous that she couldn't just exchange them and keep the package from the other pair. I don't know why she's getting rave reviews with that lack of customer service. read more

Local shop that caters directly to families with kids involved in Vista sport organizations. The woman who owns the shop has a no-nonsense exterior with a marshmallow heart. Kids know when they enter her shop that they had better be on their best behavior, as there is no room for shenanigans or a disrespectful attitude...especially when addressing their mom! The prices are fair and the quality is good and she doesn't try to sell you anything that you don't need. This business has earned my absolute admiration and support of all things sports! read more

I shop at Sport About for years now since my oldest boy (now 17) was in single A. Denise can tell you exactly what you need and she will not try to sell you anything more. In all of my years as a team mom, i always went to Sport About to put the names on the shirts . If you want a knowledgeable person for all kind of sports, this is the right place. read more

SO AWESOME!!!!!!! Talk about a personal touch....the owner Denise is great! This is a down-home business with good values. If you need your kids outfitted, they will hook you up. I was amazed at the pricing for us with Little League (Bonsall Fallbrook BFLL) . I have two kids that needed everything and they worked with my budget for start-up players. They offer a wide range of gear for novice to pro. A ONE-STOP-SHOP. Don't go to Walmart thinking you will save money, support this business and you will return again and again. read more

LOVE Sport About! Denise is great ... very knowledgeable. She has the customer's best interests in mind. If my boys should not get a new bat or new mitt, she will tell us. Sure she did not get the sale that day, but she gets a customer for life. I highly recommend using Sport About for your sports equipment needs. read more

Sport About in Vista is a great local sporting goods shop to get not only the items/merchandise you need but you can bet that you will leave there with some great advice and/or life lessons. The owner, Denise will always share helpful hints and goes way out of her way to make sure your kids are fit perfectly for equipment, clothing, etc. She truly knows her stuff and as mentioned before, she will never try and sell you anything you don't need. In fact, I have seen her talk people out of expensive bats because she knew the kid either did not need it or it simply was not the bat for them. Most shops will do anything for a sale. The owner Denise is all about the kids and the community as well. If you needed her last dollar so your kid could participate in sports or anything, she wouldn't blink an eye!! She gets hit-up for donations to the local leagues, high schools, etc. and never turns them down. This shop is definetely the place I will continue to shop and continue to direct friends and family as well. read more

Love this place. They have so much of everything. And Denise knows her stuff. Not like these other big chain sports stores that don't know anything. She helped us pick the right bat and today the right glove for our daughter. Wouldn't have gotten that type of help at the big chain stores. Also carries local high school spirit gear! read more

Denise and her team at their Vista and Encinitas locations really go the extra mile to get things done. Our teams have plenty of special requests and the team at Sportabout always seems to come through. If you are involved with a team, buy your uniforms at Sportabout. You won't be disappointed. read more

I'm sorry but this family owned business lost my business. The owner was very rude to me and my family. Never have I experienced such abrupt pressuring customer service. I will support the larger sports shops thank you. read more

Without a doubt the best! Denise has helped, not only my son with his equipment needs but has supported Carlsbad Youth Baseball for many, many years now. Her customer service and eye for detail is unmatched. I make sure I let as many of my league families know there is no better place to shop than Sport About. The big box stores cannot hold a candle to her. I have managed teams for the last 7 years, both rec. and travel and I wouldn't think to take my business anywhere else. read more

This IS NOT a retail store. Was looking for the actual store front which they used to have in Vista. This is not that! It looks like it is more for custom team orders. Not shopping for sports gear. read more

My friends and I wanted to get shirts done for our own team. It was just a team for a mud run. The lady here was really rude to us i felt like. Kept telling us how it was sport season and they were very busy and my stuff would be last. I questioned her about first come first serve and she basically told me that can not be the case at the moment. I would not use these guys again, I highly recommend staying away from them. read more

BUYERS BEWARE!!! This store does not tell you that all sales are final, on EVERYTHING! I went there to get some softball pants for my daughter. When she did not like them, I decided to return them. Once I arrived and tried to return them, they told me that the store policy is "all sales are final" and to check my receipt, as it is printed in small letters on the bottom. It is very dishonest, unprofessional, and just not okay for a company to do that. A store should tell you about their no-return policy BEFORE you buy an item! I stood in there for a solid 30 minutes trying to find something else and heard a transaction which they did not say a thing about their no- return policy. No sign, no warning, nothing. I like to support small and local businesses but owner has been rude consistently but I always just shrugged it off. This is the last straw. We will NEVER step foot in this store again. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Went to this place for the second time a couple of weeks ago. This place has the worst customer service ever! These 5 star rating are bought for sure, doesn't even deserve a one star. I would never shop here again! The owner is quite possibly the rudest person I have ever met, doesn't know jack $h!t about the equipment and was even trying to pressure my kids to buy some piece of junk so she could get it off the shelf. If you are an idiot you may think this lady knows what she is talking about. Trust me when I say this... don't come here again read more

Absolutely horrible place. I called about getting our teams jerseys printed and was told to bring them in 1.5 days before needed for the Saturday game. So I walk in with jerseys for a whole team of 6 year olds, washed and ready just like I was told to do and the lady tells me "yea sorry it's not worth it to me for the cost to do another team, I had the ones I was going to do done already" I proceeded to explain that I specifically called and she said too bad. Horrible customer service! Do not use this shop. read more

The store is ok. The owner stated that her store is family owned and operated, however she was very rude to us. She snapped at our family because my 3 year old daughter accidentally dropped the pink helmet she had picked out to buy. The owner said she didn't apreciate her " new merchandise hitting the floor!" We were not just planning on buying one helmet, but two and multiple pairs of pants for our son and daughter. She told us that she didn't care if she got our business. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

Well, Sport About, you did it again. My kids playing juniors in a local league - messed up the jersey order, hats were delivered on time but could barely fit a 8 year old they are so small, and the baseball socks won't last through the first inning the quality is so bad. This is just terrible. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Buyer beware at this place. read more

While Christmas shopping for my little brother I went to Sport About for a few baseballs. I bought a brand new pack of college standard balls. Upon going home my Mom told me that I could have bought used baseballs because my brother just uses them in the back yard for fun. I was worried I wouldn't get my $50 back from the brand new balls because Sport About does not have a return policy. However, Denise recognized my mistake and allowed me to return the brand new baseballs and receive my money back! Thank you Denise! read more

Denise is rude, not helpful, bad mannered, and uncooperative, worst experience I've ever had in a store!

Have always had a great experience with Denise when ordering uniforms for our team - she gets things done right and always by the time promised. read more

Great shopping experience. Purchased T-ball equipment, bat, glove and owner graciously threw in a t-ball since this was my grandson's first baseball start up purchase. Came home and had easy set up and grown son and grandson have been playing t-ball for last hour. EXCELLENT QUALITY!! I had purchased a more expensive T at another store and it kept falling apart every time child missed and hit T. This one bounces right back like quality they have in T-Ball games. Shame on me for wasting time at national retailers instead of remembering to shop @ my local sports store. Haven't needed items since my own kids are grown, but here comes 2nd round with grandkids. My kids, their kids and I will be back!! read more

Great selection of quality equipment. Super helpful. Denise knows what your kids need and the RIGHT size! no going back over and over. I found myself wasting money and Dicks and the others because the sizing was off and I couldn't return after it was used. Prices are competitive or even cheaper than the big box stores. Support your local businesses. read more

I stopped in today and was beyond satisfied with the service I received. Denise was sooooo helpful in helping me with a project I was working on (Pregnancy Announcement), which took some ironing out of the details. I really appreciated her patience with me as I was trying to figure it all out! =) She was very helpful and gets 5-stars for excellent customer service. I'll definitely be a returning customer. =) read more

The person that helped was very rude. I asked for a manager she said she was the owner. Had a dispute over baseball pants and she said ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Very poor selection and poor customer service. Pretty much told me if I didn't like it oh well. I will never spend my money here again. I would not recommend anybody to shop here. better quality and prices at Big 5 or Sports Authority. To the owner Denise, get some class lady and get some customer service etiquette. read more

This is TOTALLY not a bought review. I love Sport About. I feel like family. Every time I go, the staff knows exactly what I need, and go above and beyond to help me, and my sons (and she knows what size my kids are before we even try any baseball pants or cleats on). We always get what we need, and the staff is super knowledgeable. My kids love going in and always leave feeling special. Highly recommend. read more

I see that the owner commented on my review. I am just now seeing it. I would like to clarify for anyone who reads both my review or her response.... My children were not throwing anything! My 3 year old daughter accidentally dropped the pink baseball helmet she had so excitedly picked out and we were planning on purchasing. I would have apologized for my daughter's innocent accident but no one was around to say sorry to...We had been in the store for at least 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We were abruptly acknowledged by the owner herself, after the helmet was dropped. She came stomping down the stairs stating "I better come see If I can help you find something so I don't have to hear my new merchandise hitting the ground anymore!" This is how we were treated. We should have left at this point but instead tried to continue to shop for what we needed but the owner followed me around and was completely rude. I confronted her and she stated she had the right to be rude because she was the owner. We left and went to dicks and spent around $200, which included a pink helmet. It might be a big chain store but we were greeted at the door and given very helpful, friendly service. I have driven past Sport about several times since to go to Dicks in vista and will continue to. I just wanted to clarify that the owner's comment/response of our experience was not accurate! I understand the need to protect one's investment...but more importantly, as a mother, consumer and reasonable person, I know accidents happen. The way in which this business owner chose to deal with this situation, spoke volumes about her character; both personally and professionally. read more
