Ordered two stuffed potatoes with extra setups (sour cream, bacon, butter, etc.). Not only did they get the meat wrong, we order chopped brisket but got sliced and they charged us extra for the wrong setups. Is the Wylie location gradually shutting down? The past few times we've ordered, there were hardly any side options available. On one occasion, the meat was quite dry. I got a 1 meat (sausage plate), and it wasn't even their signature sausage--plus they gave me a bun because they were out . So they opened just barely over an hour ago. Place an order online for ribs, Texas toast and okra. Get there and they tell me that the okra and the toast is sold out. Seriously on a Sunday and only open for an hour and they're sold out. That's ridiculous. I will definitely not make this a Sunday stop again. read more

This place has gone down hill so much! The food had no flavor. The meat seemed as if it was constantly being reheated. The sides appeared and tasted as if they had been sitting out all day. limited food items- note in the door had a long list of outages . bread was stale and meat was 50 percent fat. when we arrived at 12:00 pm the restaurant was empty. no paper towels on the towel holders to use as napkins.wanted to wash my hands and there were no paper towels in the bathroom. it appeared as if the last of the food inventory was on the sparsely supplied serving line. sorry to say this trip will be my last visit to this location. hopefully other locations near us will better stocked and prepared for customers. read more

My son and I went to the Wylie location on 6/23/24. Nothing special about this visit. The beef was tepid, I asked for Lean, I got "moist" (was mostly fat). no one would take our order for Okra till I yelled for help. I think the potato casserole just came out of the mass produced container. The dining area was clean, the men's bathroom was flooded. For me, the crowning moment was when I say a Renew/Recycle fee on my receipt. I asked about this, the cashier pointed to a sign no bigger than a postcard, blocked by some cups, claiming this was to reduce waste. How does reducing waste cost me $.39? This place has gone down hill. Not sure if management changed or what. Bought two meat plate from them today, Turkey and brisket, the portion looked like a child's plate. I called and spoke with the manager, asked him how much meat is supposed to be in the plate. He said total of half pound. I told him that someone must have messed up, this is not a half pound, he wanted to argue with me that I could not be right. I told him I am an ex butcher, I know what a half pound is. He still wants to argue with me. Let's say even if I was wrong and I am not, a manager should not act like this, talk about crazy services. Very upset my friend ordered 86$ worth of food on The Fouth Of July & after she waited over an hour door dash cancelled the order because they said the resturant couldn't fulfill the order. Hit or miss with this location. We also use to go often with our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 littles) but they cut out their Kids Eat Free day, so our wallet burns fast holes from money spending at this bad boy! They do offer coupons through our local magazine but they aren't as good as past coupons we've used. Seems like it varies upon location too because on their coupons it's specific to that location only. Save your yellow cup for each visit and you can get a small drink discount. (Large yellow cups only, to my knowledge but I've never asked if that applies to kids cups) We love the ice cream. The pecan pie is awesome, cucumber salad and the broccoli salad are bomb. (good) I need to ease up on their rolls before I gain rolls. Great variety to choose from on the menu but if you don't ask for no fat/grisel on your meat, you take the risk. My kids will not eat that meat either if fat is in it, but hey, neither will I. We've had drive thru orders gone wrong in the past. After speaking with management my name was added to the list but with so many goof ups, I've probably forgotten my name was on the list when we went back up there. Not like we get a courtesy call about this to make up for mishaps on their part at the end of the month or at least something, so it's wasted money. They aren't the only fast food place that does this though. Easy to forget. But in my Donna Summer singing voice "She works hard for the money " I won't lie, I went back and risked it twice recently. This is definitely one of the better Dickey's locations and by far the best BBQ place in Wylie I have tried. One of the others I knew went out of business and another is beyond terrible (Linke BBQ), which should be avoided at all costs! This is going to be short and sweet. Monday night specials at this location is a great and cheap meal. Pulled pork sandwiches only $2.99. They have never doubted me with lack of meat on the sandwiches. Now when you ask for extra BBQ sauce, double check or you won't get any. Nice atmosphere for a Dickey's--they did a good job of capturing a ramshackle roadhouse feel for this one. But this places lacks one serious piece of BBQ shack goodness--no smell of smoke. BIG problem. I've been getting takeout at this location for a couple of years and the quality of the food has steadily declined as the chain expands. 1) the bread used to be the BOMB. Now it tastes like it's baked offsite, frozen, and then heated prior to serving. 2) the flavor of the meat, again, has declined. Dickey's has never been the BEST BBQ out there, but it was still pretty tasty. My last trip a few days ago was the worst. There was no crust on the brisket, no smoke ring, no TASTE of smoke. It was tough and fatty (not fatty in the good BBQ snot way either). The ribs were horrific and tasted as if they had been cooked in an oven. This location used to be the BEST Dickey's around. We have two locations in Rowlett where we live. Both horrible!!! That is why we always went to the Wylie location because before Rowlett had even one, we were eating there and it was always consistent and tasty! We usually get the family pack plus extras about twice a month at $50 to $60 because it is fast and easy during busy times and better than most fast foods. When my dad comes to town we always have to get Dickey's and that is usually about $120 order a couple times a year. Honestly, after yesterday (Mothers Day) I don't know if we will ever go back. It's not the first, second, or even third time this has happened. It happens all the time when you go through the drive through. I ordered the family pack plus a few extra sides and extra rolls. $.50 a roll first off is ridiculous especially since they keep getting smaller, harder, and more greasy! Usually they are stale. Last night they were hard , almost burned, and greasy! You get two pounds of meat and I chose sliced brisket and turkey. The turkey was pretty good but the brisket was horrible. It wasn't all sliced. At least half of it was chunked and we got the nasty fatty parts. We like the burnt ends and the fat that is on the top of the brisket. That makes for a tender and tasty brisket. But we got the stuff that turns to black mush where it is veiny. That is just gross! I don't think we got but two small slices that we picked apart to get just the meat and throw away the veiny stuff and fat. The rest our Lab did enjoy! So it really sucks when this happens over and over. I think they give it to drive through people because we don't usually tear open our order in the car. We wait till we get home and then it's too much of a hassle to go back and return it. One time I did and the woman at the window wanted to argue with me until I opened it and showed her the fat on the brisket and the gristle we got instead of turkey. Speaking of the lady at the window, I don't know her name and I wish I did. She is always there. If you go there, you know her! I asked for lots of pickles and a small thing of jalapeños. Well, I got some pickles and I didn't even realize I didn't get the jalapeños! I will post the picture of the pickle container. As I looked in the top of the bag that was flowing over, I asked for more pickles. She said she put extra pickles in there. I grabbed them and asked if that is what she was talking about? Really now???!!!!! My husband doesn't eat but a few of them and even he said that was crazy!!! I'm sure it comes in frozen now because the last three times we have had it, it was super salty. If my husband says it's salty, that's bad considering he works outside and uses more salt since he sweats it out. So let's review the order: 1lb of sliced brisket - chunked, fatty and veiny (dog loved it though!) 1lb of sliced turkey - pretty good 2 sides of baked Potato casserole - pretty good. 1 side of fried okra - so salty hardly any of it was eaten 1 side of Cucumber and Tomato salad - so-so 1 side of slaw - ok 6 rolls + 3 extra bought - hard, overdone almost burned bottom and greasy. BBQ sauce - pretty good Pickles - good but not worth the fight Jalapeños - nonexistent! All of that was put into a small grocery sack. I took the bag of rolls out since they were falling out and I didn't want them and the greasy bag all over my seat. It barely fit. I guess they quit putting the to go orders in big paper bags. I guess it is only fitting! No pun intended. Just for the record, this makes my family very sad! BBQ that makes everyone in the family happy is hard to find. Dickey's used to make us all happy, Now we have to find somewhere else. We aren't cheap and we don't mind paying for good food. In fact, one of our 8 year old daughters favorite places to eat is Texas de Brazil and we all know that is nowhere near cheap! However, it kills us to pay this kind of money for poor quality. Honestly, I don't understand the mystique around Dickey's, the BBQ is dry, bland and unappetizing at best. There doesn't seem to be any passion in the preparation of the food, it has all the Je Ne Sais Quoi of a high school cafeteria. I only went this time because a client suggested it as a last resort, so went with the flow, was hoping for more, but it was disappointing again, and I got stuck paying for it. I don't know how anyone can think this is exceptional BBQ, it's not, it's very industrial and you can see the kitchen doesn't care about quality. A little over a year ago I had a horrible experience at the wylie location off of 78 in Texas in which the drive through employees we're more worried about fun and completely ignored me while I waited way too long for my order. After doing a survey the manager followed up with a gift card but I was honestly too nervous to go back thinking the employee's would remember me and be angry. I went Friday and had to wait to make my order again because again the employee's we're huddled up and playing in the back. I made my order and after receiving it I had the window slammed in my face as the employee again rushes to the back to congregate and I literally had to go back to the drive through speaker box to get condiments which I knew she was trying to avoid. I then brought the food home and my 18 month old and I continued to eat, only to wake up sick the next morning stomach wise. We'll never go back to this location. read more

That being said I do like the sausage but the ribs are terrible. The brisket is dry and doesn't have a smoke ring like a good smoked brisket should. The potato salad is the worst. It's more like mashed potato salad. So if your looking for good Texas BBQ skip Dickey's. Try someplace else. Anyplace else. UPDATE: Ok so I gave them another chance on Good Friday 2017. I have been to this location before, just after it opened in 2004. It was great! As Chris L. says....the quality has dropped. I was looking for some BBQ the other night. it was after 8 pm, when the Dickey's on 14th in Plano had closed. I knew this store was still open, AND had a drive thru! So off I went. Ordered the 2 meat combo (brisket and hot links) with mac and cheese and fried okra. The hot links, mac and cheese, and fried okra? They were ALL excellent...so that is a good thing. The brisket? It appeared it had been over cooked, but not actually smoked. It looked bland and tasted that way. I was SHOCKED! The roll? I liked it better when they served a slice of Texas Toast that got a little butter on the "wheel". This little bun thing? Ok I guess. The fact they had a drive thru is a plus. I will have to go back and eat inside for my next and possibly last visit to this store. Maybe they just had an off day on the brisket? I sure hope so! read more

I ordered through door dash and when the food got delivered, it was a hot mess! Both rolls were saturated with cole slaw juice (yuck!), as well as, the ribs because someone put the cole slaw in the same container as the rolls and ribs. ‍ whoever was to blame- Dickey's or DoorDash- I don't know, but I assumed the restaurant would've been the one loading the container up so I called them. I explained The situation to the manager there that night and he very promptly apologized and offered to replace my meal anytime I wanted to. I went in today to do that and the meal was SO much better, obviously, but even the items I got that night tasted better today! Maybe because it was later in the day and they were almost closing at the time I ordered, I don't know. At any rate, I told the manager how much I appreciated him being a caring manager who really, obviously cares about customer service because had he not handled it that way, I probably just never would've eaten from there again. But because he replaced my meal, I had an opportunity to go in and give them a second chance and had a better experience because of it. So that's why I'm giving them a 4-star because what is a restaurant if not good food and good customer service? read more
