I visited the Kingsland Georgia store on 5/15/24. I ordered two meat platter with brisket and polish sausage. The brisket was solid fat and the sausage looked like it had been cooked or reheated multiple times (see below picture) . The second order of food the fries were tasty but again the brisket was all fat. This place is very pricey and the food is not worth the money ! My bill with the tip was around 54 bucks. Double convenient in that this location is inside a gas station for those that need a break for their legs, dogs or just a gas refill. Don't come here and expect texas level or quality bbq, I mean it's inside a gas station and for that it's good. My encounter with them today settled my mind about the differences in the pits which seek to sell more at the cost of the customer, and those which create bettter food and treat their customers with respect. Twice employee's came to ask if everything was well and how we enjoyed our meals. Since this is a joint inside a Travel Plaza, I believe they certainly went above expectations. Dickey's has three sauces for customers. A sweet recipe, an original one and of course a spicey sauce. I chose the spicey which had seasons throughout. Not sure if they sell it by the bottle, but that will give me a reason to go back again. Dickey's has a web page and this is something you may desire to check out. I do know that this business supports more than the owners bottom line. Their support for firefighters and police who are sick or unable to work due to a disability means the more I frequent, the more support our first line has. read more

Nice, new location connected to a Marathon gas station in a new travel plaza off of 95. Order placed online with a specific pick up time. I was called prior to pick-up to be informed they were out of beef brisket for the taco in the order, very courteous chose the pulled pork as an alternate. Arrived at the pick-up time on the nose, it was a bit chaotic behind the counter, service was friendly, part of the order was sitting waiting on a slice of Texas toast. The order consisted of a two meat combo (pork ribs/kielbasa sausage) with Idaho russet potato salad, and bbq beans, two tacos, smoked chicken and cheese, the other pulled pork and cheese. The flavors of the sides were average, fresh and hot, the tacos were fresh and delish with the cheddar cheese, the ribs were tender with a good flavor although not very smokey, the sausage had a little kick of spice, the roll was like a hockey puck, kicked to the garbage can, the Texas toast is good, it's a bit pricey for the small portions. The original bbq sauce flavor helped kick the flavor up a notch, it's worth a try if you have a hankering for some q while passing through. read more

Normally like dickies but this one really nickel and dimes you. No free water, 50 cents extra for additional sauce (btw my additional sauce was only 1/3 full), no free ice cream like other locations. As a stop-over on a road trip this is fantastic. Takes slightly longer than a chain drive-thru place (well, unless there's a big line!) but the quality is worth it. OMG! The mgr was so unconcerned. He was slow to put together my order and was training a new employee. oh my god this manager shouldn't be training anybody the food was horrible absolutely horrible. This location is located in the newly renovated Marathon Truck stop on the Laurel Island exit. The location is nice and clean located between a counter for a Mexican restaurant and a counter for fresh smoothies. The prices in comparison to the amount of food you get is on the pricey side when comparing to other BBQ establishments in the area. A three meat plate was $15 in comparison $13.49 (they give you more). The service was fast and friendly and all meat carefully measured. For a Double Dip Brisket and Cheddar plate, a three meat plate, a cheddar and Brisket taco and two drinks was about $38. The food was ok. Not the best barbecue I've had, but certainly not the worst. The chicken was tender and juicy, the ribs (the ribs must have come from a starving pig, not very meaty) and brisket were too, but the pulled pork was on the dry side. Both the pulled pork and brisket lacked seasoning and none of the food had a pit barbecue smokiness to it. We did sample the polish sausage and it was much better than the other meat for seasoning and a pit bbq taste. If I'm looking for some real pit BBQ go to the next exit you won't find any smoke here. If you want something decent and quick this is a good stop. read more

We were traveling from Baltimore MD to our home in Florida. Stopped for gas and "found" the restaurant. We were curious. "Texas bar b que" in Georgia ?? The 2 women that took our order and prepared the food were wonderful. Full of smiles and kindness. The seating was available and such a nice surprise.
