I am an avid runner. Have been for 20 years. I never experience a running injury until recently. I sprained my ankle. It didn't heal at the speed I wanted so the doctor sent me to physical therapy. The therapist there told me I didn't have proper running shoes. And to prevent injury I had to buy my shoes at Dick Pond. And that was the only place she shops for her entire family. I was surprised how adamant she was. Well, of course I went there. Sure enough the sales person was friendly and professional. She knew her business. Measured both feet, watched me walk across the room and so on. She brought out several shoes for me to try and they were all good. The pair I purchased are the best shoes I have ever run in. I am back to running, but not fully yet, and my confidence has been restored with this quality shoe. I will never by running shoes anywhere else again! Great place! read more

This is THE place to get running shoes, no question about it.  This is the only place my sister will take her son to get shoes (he's in track in h.s.), and it's now the only place I will purchase jogging shoes.   They take VERY good care of every single customer.  In order to get the perfect shoe for your foot and your gait, they watch your feet walking on a treadmill for about 10 seconds, and they measure your feet.  I told them I have narrow feet, and they narrowed (pun intended) my choices between 2 different shoes by Mizuno.   Thanks Dick Pond for helping me finally get a good pair of jogging shoes! read more

Horrible service!!!! I wish that I could give ZERO stars.My Wife was in the Store on a Saturday & the last pair of the shoes she wanted was on hold for another person. My Wife was told that this person had already been called TWICE & that if that Customer didn't pickup the shoes by Sunday, they would notify my Wife and the shoes would be made available to my Wife (She wanted them for our upcoming Vacation)...My Wife received a call on Monday stating that the other person did NOT pickup the shoes & that they were being held for my Wife...I went to the Store within a short period of time that Monday and was told that the other person DID pickup the shoes. She then tried to sell me a different color. I told her my Wife was sold on color she wanted. She then told me that the other person had only been give 2 days, which was NOT true, which I explained, that as of Saturday, the Store had already called her twice and her deadline was supposed to be Sunday. When my Wife received the call on Monday stating that person missed the deadline & the shoes were now being held for my Wife, that should have been honored. However, it was not. I was told that they were ordering the shoes. I advised that we won't be wanting them anymore, based upon these deceptive practices. Very misleading and disappointing!!! read more

This is the best shoe store for shoes. Skip the stupid Foot Lockers and Finish Lines and Dicks Sporting Goods, trust me. Those are corporate stores with employees there that dont know jack. Dick Pond in Wheaton (Carol Stream?) is small inside and located in a bizarre area, but its a hidden gem. The employees actually KNOW shoes and will recommend you the perfect pair for you for whatever sport you play. I found the perfect Adidas wrestling shoes there on a few occasions. Even in my 30s, I went back there to buy another set of wrestling shoes, this time not for wrestling, though. LOL Im too old for that. Hint: wrestling shoes make EXCELLENT driving shoes. This helped them find what kind of support I need in my shoes. After that, the sales associate helped me find the perfect pair of gym shoes that fit my feet perfectly, provided the support I needed, and met my budget. I was recommended to this store by someone at my gym, he knew I was looking to purchase a new pair of running shoes. I was helped by a gentleman who measured my feet, watched me walk, brought out two different pairs of shoes and then had me run on the treadmill. I was able to purchase a pair that I am happy with. I really liked that I got one on one attention, he listened to my needs and what my complaints were, and he assessed my feet correctly. My wife brought our 10 year old for his first pair of running shoes for his first year of cross country. She had been fitted with a pair about a year ago and was happy with the experience and even ok with the over sell process. Today with 2 little girls in tow she was greeted by a salesman with "I'll stop you right there. Whatever you're looking for we don't have it. We've been inundated with people all day." My teenager daughters in high school track came on a very busy Saturday but our sales associate Andrew was amazing! He took the time to measure each girl and ask specific questions about what they were doing in track, to determine which shoes would work for each event. Great place for running shoes! They also have wrestling shoes. This is a small shop with customer service the way it should be. They greet you when you come in and ask you what you need. There were a few other people when I got there and 1 sales person, but he was juggling all 3 of us and making of all us feel like we were the only people in the place. One thing that shocked me was that he told a customer to go outside and run around in a pair of shoes she was trying on! The sales guy said that you had to try them on the pavement and sent the customer outside! I probably could have gotten shoes from a sporting goods chain, but I had to take a kid with me and wasn't in the mood to shuffle through the boxes. Fat man trying to get ready for the NYC Marathon. I won a lottery position and thought I'd give it a go. Went in to replace my current shoes. Morgan was so helpful and tried her best. Older hardcore runner type woman comes over to start dominating the engagement. She had no interest in what I was doing or answering any meaningful questions. She did however seem to enjoy making snide remarks about my lack of a strong training plan. Verrrrryyy condescending and dismissive. Seemed more interested in getting me out of there then in adding value to my experience. When in Dick Ponds I might suggest the older gentlemen who have nothing to prove other than their interest in helping you feel supported and in good hands. First bad experience there but enough to make me think about going online for shoes in the future. read more

Very nice little shop where you can get customized attention from people who know shoes. They will ask what you need them for, how much you will use them, check your gait and select the right shoe for you. The prices on the shoe are MSRP for the most part though I got a pair on clearance for half price. Definitely worth going here versus heading to Dick's etc. read more

I had a great experience at this store. I had a issue with the shoes that I purchased. They were causing blisters while running. I had worn them several times. I simply went to the store and explained my issue to the salesman. I didn't have a receipt or the box for the shoes. They still took them back and set me up with another pair that worked fantastic. I have had foot pain for over six years and could never find the perfect shoe. I recently bought Hoka shoes online and didn't have any success because they didn't fit properly. I came here for a quick visit and walked out a happy customer. I tried a different style of Hoka shoes in the store and immediately fell in love. I'll preface this by saying that I'm no runner. I have been on Weight Watchers and trying to be more active, and was walking, then I started jogging a bit. And as I started to run more, my feet hurt and I got heel blisters like mad. Bad shoes. So my sister and brother-in-law recommended going to Dick Pond's. I wish I had done that before I wasted a bunch of money on a crappy pair of shoes at Kohl's, but live and learn. So I went in and explained my lack of athletic prowess but desire to get healthy, and my issues to the sales person. She could not have been more helpful. She put me on the treadmill and recorded my gait, and then explained it to me. She said I had flat feet, which I knew - had it since birth - and that my gait turned inward. She recommended a pair of higher support running shoes, and I tried a few pairs on. It turns out I've been buying shoes that are about a size or a size and a half too small for me, which was one problem, and that they weren't giving me enough support. We also tried an orthotic insole. In the end, I bought the shoes, the insole (which she custom fitted to the shoe for me) and some decent running socks. I just got back from a 5-mile run/walk and it was the best one of the season. I'm still nursing a heel blister from my past crappy shoes, but it didn't bother me at all! I am so impressed by the knowledge and wonderful customer service of the sales staff, that I will only buy my running shoes there now. Thanks! read more

I was very happy with how Shannon at Dick Pond in Hoffman Estates helped my daughter (also Shannon!) find her first *real* pair of running shoes. She had just started a cross country summer program and had ankle pain - so they put her on the treadmill for a gait analysis and came back with 4 pairs of shoes to try out. The ones she chose helped right away! The shoes are expensive but they have a generous discount program after you spend a certain amount, and their service is where they differentiate. They also have a generous return/refit policy if the shoes cause any pain after purchase. read more

The location is in an industrial area on St Charles Rd. But I think this is where their main warehouse is, so that makes sense. Staff is friendly and when I went in, I didn't feel any pressure to buy. I am not a runner but I know the importance of good shoes, so when my old ones started to wear out, I thought I'd stop by. I used to go to the one in Naperville when I was more in shape and had greater aspirations of being a runner and I remembered the experiences were always good. They put me on the treadmill to measure my gait and see how I walk. They also took a look at my current shoes to get an idea of how I wore out the tread. So I recommend bringing your old shoes. I have kinda wide feet so a lot of shoes (especially Nikes) usually look very awkward. However, the girl was very helpful. I dont' remember her name, maybe Debbie? She had me try several different pairs of shoes until I was satisfied. Prices are probably a little higher than some places, but the service and attention to detail make it all worth it. I called on Thursday morning to see if there was any way I could receive them by Friday for a track meet Saturday morning.
