Let me first begin by stating that John at the Wheaton location is the very best!!! They have always had 3 locations but in about a week there are going to be 4!!!!! The new one is downtown Chicago. John has dry eye (after LASIK and cataracts removals and cornea lens replacements, I am very familiar with dry eye) which causes him to blink an awful lot. John allowed old married me be playful and flirty with young him after hearing when us asked 5'0" tall and my 6'4" white husband if we were together My husband said "Hell NO!" and walked off to look at his own shoes So while John was eyeballing my shoe size ( size women's 5 1/2, size 6 with spendy Curex insoles that only they carry) we were chatty and he permitted me pretend that he was winking at me My new shoes feel like I am walking on clouds I would especially like to mention their SUPERIOR disability parking Not only is there disability parking with a back disability entrance, they PROVIDE their own wheelchair at their risk and cost outside (see photo) As I know far too well from my personal experience as a ‍ runner... we face numerous wrist/knee/ankle/ you name it we got 'em injuries 5 stars to John at Wheaton as well as the young lady who played "fetch," getting shoe sizes and insoles for me 5 stars for ALL Naperville Running Co. And their excellent selection especially for my husband's wide feet, their sock collection which they DONATE and their handled recycle paper bags!! read more

Went in looking for a new pair of shoes. The salesperson was knowledgeable and told me a lot about my feet and made suggestions for shoes. Unfortunately, the shoes I was recommended all came in awful pastel colors so I didn't make a purchase but I will be back to purchase as new colors arrive. read more

Had a good little sidewalk sale while we were visiting town. Can tell the staff really care and want to help!

Very helpful and friendly staff! They spend the time explaining why a specific shoe was designed a certain way, and if it is a good "fit" for your running style. I was not upsold on a more expensive shoe, rather I was talked into buying a less expensive shoe that worked a lot better for my feet. I'll be coming back here in the future! read more

HOORAY! The Wheaton community now has its very own NRC! This is a magical place for runners and such a treat to have so close by now. I first got turned on to NRC when I worked in downtown Naperville, and would frequent the Naperville location often. Consistently among all 3 NRC stores, the quality of the staff and dedication to the sport shines through. These people have a passion for running and want to make sure you are the best (and safest) you can be while you are out on the road or trail. They aren't just there to sell you a shoe, but to make sure you have exactly what you need to succeed. The shop has a nice selection of gear and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you are just getting in to running for the first time, PLEASE go visit an actual running store like this one to get fitted for the correct type of shoes first. I made this mistake 10 years ago when I started running and seriously damaged my feet by wearing too small and improper pronation-level shoes. Everyone has a different stride and way the foot falls, and these folks can test you to make sure you're in exactly the support you need to avoid injuries. And whatever size shoe you think you wear, I can almost guarantee you will not be your running size - your feet swell from running, so you often need to go up at least a full shoe size! I was out over a year from injury due to my novice "buy what's cheap on Amazon" attitude, so take me as a precautionary tale and go to the pros! Running is a sport you can do for free if you like, once you get geared up properly, so invest whatever $$ you would have spent on hefty gym memberships into at least getting a nice, quality pair of shoes to protect your body from injury before you get started. The other thing I wanted to highlight about NRC, at all of their locations, is their dedication to their community and special events. They offer free weekly runs and you can show up to jog with such a fun and friendly group. This location in Wheaton is right along the Prairie Path, which is a gorgeous place to run. You can see their events on their website and Facebook page, and whether you're looking for a group to run with or a way to train, there are other tools on their site as well to get you started. read more

Went to the Wheaton location to get a pair of running shoes for my 13-year-old daughter for cross-country season. Liz was the associate helping us, and took great care assessing my daughter's gait and foot placement. She brought out no fewer than five pairs of shoes to determine which might work best. We needed some socks as well, and Liz pointed out various benefits of each brand without being pushy or over-selling. My daughter loves her shoes and socks! Great staff, great selection--we'll be back for sure! It's totally worth the drive from our Oak Park-area home! read more
