Showed up at 0835 pm when they close at 9pm and placed an order. One employee visibly mad because I ordered and a hockey game ended and they have customers. Slamming the phone, register, and door to the pizza oven. Gave me my change, I said thanks, he didn't acknowledge, just turned away. Cussing that the effing game ending now means they will get customers before they close. Talking about the GlenDale store as well so he obviously worked there also. Visibly mad and complaining. I likely won't be back. read more

Let me start off with saying that I am a pizza aficionado. I was raised on it and have continued eating it throughout my life, but so has everyone else. I was almost swayed away from DiCarlos by the negative reviews on Yelp, but at the last second I thought what the hell and ordered it. I'm glad I did! This pizza is quite simply awesome! The sauce has excellent flavor as does the cheese and pepperoni. I love the crunchy crust too. If I'm ever back in this hell hole called Wheeling, I will definitely return to DiCarlos. read more

First rate pizza. Great crust and sauce. Had to eat it in the car due to Covid but it was outstanding.

The crust is perfect. That is where I end anything good to say about this pie. Sauce tasted like something like tomato paste and water. Absolutely very little flavor. The cheese on after baking is stupid. The cheese doesn't melt all the way and you either feel like you are eating cold pizza you just paid twenty bucs for or you try heating up and the crust becomes a soggy mess. Real simple fix but they think they are thinking outside of the box with cold cheese on the pie. Stupid idea. Spice up the sauce, maybe even a bit sweeter, bake the cheese on the pie and you will have a great product. As it is, it is bad pie. read more

Dicarlo's pizza is pretty good if you are into the "steubenville style" of pizza where the cheese is added after baking. While I enjoy them on occasion, they are not one of my favorite pizzas as I was never a hardcore fan of this style of pizza. Sorry, I like my cheese nice and cooked :) Just because I am not a die hard fan, don't let it stop you from trying them out. The establish and food quality were great. read more

Came here late and grabbed a large, 16 slice pie for 15 bucks and with 4 beers brought our total to $24. Great deal. Square pizza, average taste. The price and speed of cooking made up for the pizza's frozen food taste. It was a great meal after a evening at the bar, but I probably wouldn't order it for lunch. I do like how they cook the pie, then put the cheese and pepperoni on it, allowing it to melt in the box. Though this method only helps it look more like frozen food. I'd stop by again after a few beers, but probably not otherwise. read more

I was visiting Wheeling from Portland, OR (land of a thousand pizza joints) and funny, I wanted pizza. I wrote this place off at first based on the concept of the cheese being put on post baking but at the last minute, decided to try it out. I was with two other people and we LOVED our pizza. The crust was crisp until the last bite and the sauce amazing. I am honestly a bit sad we don't have this style out in Portland. I'm glad I tried it out. I do wish they had recycling bins, however, for all of their bottled soda. Meh. Life goes on. Solid pizza at an amazing price. read more

Yummy pizza if you like steubenville style, with chrispy crust but cheese unmelted. Steak sandwich in flatbread was great. Safe atmosphere in a late friday. read more

DiCarlo's Pizza - Pizza Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

DiCarlos is a hometown favorite for many. They put the cheese on after the pizza is baked, which is what sets it apart from other pizza shops. Love DiCarlos but live outta state? No problem. They will ship their pizza to ur door. This location is typically not as busy as the one in Elm Grove. I call St least an hr ahead of time, so my wait isn't long. They also sell bags of cheese & pepperoni if you like extra meat and/or cheese. Favorite in our household! read more

It is an experience to have while you're in Wheeling. 2 pieces of pepperoni per pizza slice was not my idea of a good time. It is interesting that you can get the toppings melted or not. Different concept. Not in my top 5 of pizza places, but it was worth the experience. read more

We stumbled upon this place moving our son to Indianapolis from Philadelphia...its half way :). We stop every time we go through Wheeling. This past weekend we had lunch there on Friday, and then again on Monday. The pizza is so unique and good. Its not filling, tastes fresh and is easy on the wallet. I wish they would expand east! read more

Literally the worst pizza I've ever had...walked in and ordered six slices watched as they pulled out 2 pans of pizza as I waited 30 minutes and. Still received cold pizza...how does that happen???? Won't go there again and won't recommend it to anyone read more

fantastic.great price drive 20 miles from my house..

Everyone I speak with loves this place. I am mid range as I don't enjoy pizza that much. That said, fans do. During the Heritage Blues Festival this was a go to place for many. read more

We had pizza from your new Highlands W. Va. location. We notice a change in your sauce. Our friends have noticed a difference too. Please go back to your old and better tasting sauce. read more

Make sure you check your order before you walk out the door. Twice I ordered a tray with extra cheese and extra pepperoni and when I got it home there was hardly any cheese on the pizza and two pieces of pepperoni per slice. You call that extra cheese and pepperoni? I grew up with DiCarlo's Pizza and remember when Joe ran the company. If you ordered extra cheese and pepperoni you had a mound of cheese on your pizza and at least 5 to 6 pieces of pepperoni per slice. Evidently they must not care of his legacy of pizza making anymore, just all about the money and the gambling parlor. read more

Absolutely disgusting! I couldn't finish one piece of it. Hot crispy crust, warm sauce and piles of unmelted cheese, and whatever topping you order on top of the uncooked cheese Not a fan! To each their own I guess read more

The pizza here is like the kind you make at home--it has that not fully melted, put together without much thought, feel and taste. It is square, as is often the custom in these parts. The steak sub, on a flat bread, was uninspiring. There was also a lot of cursing / yelling coming from the kitchen-counter area. I'm no stranger to hearing F bombs, but it was a little over the top. read more

There aren't many options for a decent meal in this town. Admittedly, I'm not from this area, and I walked in looking for some pizza. For some reason, they don't melt the cheese. So, you get a luke warm pizza with cold cheese on top. The crust and sauce is good, but the overall pizza sucks. I so badly wanted to ask them to throw it in the oven because that would probably make it great. You may like it, but just know what you're getting. read more

Placed an online order at 8:30pm arrived at 9 pm and everyone was long gone and they had charged my card so now I'm out my last $21 and have nothing to feed my kids because they closed because of rioting nowhere near here so thanks for nothing Wheeling DiCarlo's read more

This is the shiny new location for the downtown Wheeling store, now featuring a video poker parlor too! We're fans of DiCarlo's, but we prefer the other locations instead of National Road. Seriously: why settle for a choice of pep/no-pep and a 45 minute wait with NO tables, when you can get multiple toppings, signature pizzas, and calzones plus table service? And since it's in downtown Wheeling, there's lots and lots of parking (courtesy of the city's policy of tearing down buildings and replacing them with parking lots). Same great sauce, same great crust. read more

A lot of local people love DiCarlos but I've never been a fan. Long waits, pizza itself is mediocre (at all locations). Just never did it for me. read more

Pizza was great as always. Employees were super friendly and the pizza came out quick!

Yummy! Mozzarella dropped on just before they serve -- crisp tasty crust with a little thickness.

This is the best DiCarlo's around, MUCH better than the Grove location. The cheese actually melts somewhat on this pizza. The location is convenient. The price is cheap. I have never had an issue with calling an order in and picking it up. I have seen that some people had a problem with this-how hard is it? Call them up, tell them your order and they will tell you "your order is number .....x" When you walk in, walk up to the register and tell the person "I'm order number....x.....16 slice tray, regular"......they will ring you up and hand you your pizza. If it is done before you get there, they sit it on top of the oven to keep it warm. They could do without the autographed picture of Brad Paisley on the wall, though. I don't think people want to stare at the roach from the Orkin commercial when they are eating. read more

They put the cheese on cold after the pie comes out of the oven. Speechless. This is a must try.

This is the best DiCarlos location in the valley. Clean, friendly staff, fast, orders are always accurate, and delicious pizza.

I am madly in love with DiCarlo's pizza. I usually get my DiCarlo's at this location because I don't live anywhere near Wheeling, so take-out isn't really a possibility. This location has tables and I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a large pizza. I've never had pizza anywhere else that is quite like DiCarlo's and I have, on more than one occasion, driven over 90 minutes each way just to get a fix. I also love this location because it's right downtown. You can people watch and just take in the ambiance of downtown Wheeling. While many may consider that a negative point, I enjoy it. There is also dedicated parking next to the location, so unless they're super busy it's usually not a challenge to find a spot. read more

Being from NY I miss the shit out of good pizza. However, this pizza makes me want to take the 3 mile drive downtown to get a slice (or square). Out of the Dicarlo's I've had in the area, this is hands down the best. Great crust, cheese and sauce. I'm there at least once a week. read more

Thanks for joining us our first Taste of West Virginia event in Washington D.C., and especially for bringing your famous square pizza. I always enjoy it while traveling in the Northern Panhandle. Hope you join us again next year! read more

About 90 degrees inside. Very long wait for a single cut of pizza when NOT crowded. Then they botch order n gave me peperroni. I am a vegeterian. Waited again. The place sux!!!! Super overrated. read more

My favorite pizza is another DiCarlos but because my husband works in downtown decided to try this again. It was delicious! Large pieces with generous toppings. I guess I have a new favorite after 45 years at the other place. At least all the pieces were the same size. Ordered a salad also, for the price it could have been better. Wish they had a better salad selection. read more

The pizza here isn't very good. It tastes frozen, which is amazing since I'm pretty sure it's made fresh in the restaurant. The crust tastes like cardboard and the ingredients taste cheap. I can't say much else other than I'm more satisfied by mid grade frozen pizzas from the grocery store. read more

A wheeling tradition...a tradition that is now defined by inconsiderate and rude customer service on the phone. The person that took my order "Said Louthi", needs training. My intention was to order 2 calzones, large pie, and a salad, but the cashier hung up the phone before I could finish. I got the calzones and they were ok. When I mentioned the poor customer service the cashier, Said Louthi, was even more disrespectful in person. I have a New Wheeling Tradition....not patronizing DiCarlo's Pizza. I will not be supporting a local business anymore and that is just sad... read more

Best pizza in the Ohio valley. The extra cheese being added after the cooking process is a big plus. Was listed in the top 10 pizza in the entire U.S in the Parade Magazine. Comparable DiCarlos are the Elm Groove and Downtown Steubenville, Ohio locations. read more

45 minute for pizza. No thanks. They got trays going out for delivery. Nice way to treat a walk in customer.

No waiters or menu posted but really really good pizza and breadsticks. I will be coming back. The large pizza is huge!

The pizza is the ultimate . Buts it's 90 degrees outside and 110 inside. Please do something with the AC.

I have been eating DiCarlos pizza for about 40 years and last night was the absolute worst. DiCarlos pizza never used to let the extra pieces sit around until a customer came in and ask for the right amount and it was reheated in the oven. It was always fresh and delicious! So hot you could hardly eat it. Go back to the way you used to do things. I guess that's what we get for going there during a Nailers game. I bet the fans all got fresh pizza when they came out! read more

We just got pizza here about an hour ago. We have heard so many good things about DiCarlo's since we moved here and since the Valley has a plethora of really good local pizza, while we hadn't tried DiCarlo's, we have been told it was the best of the best. What an utter disappointment! I am now in line at the fireworks to get something else to feed my family. The pizza was terrible and overpriced and not cooked all the way through. We got it to go to have a picnic on the river and the service was still horrible. And the management looking person, who I think knew we weren't impressed before we even got our pizza, tried to smooth things over. She explained to my boyfriend that he was waiting in line for a key to the bathroom because people shoot heroin in there and it was for his own safety?!?!?! What kind of place is this? We will never be back. What a disappointment and waste of money. And now I'm standing at a food truck spending more money so we can actually eat. read more
