There was a time where you could bite into a DiBella's sub and there would be a generous portion of meat on it. Now? Most bites are just a lot of bread and toppings. Picked up an online order for lunch this past week, but have dined in multiple times in the past. This location always has a parking spot available right out front and friendly service once you're inside. The pickup process for an online order is quick; they have a pickup area down by the register. My food was ready a few minutes early, which was nice, and packaged well for travel. I ordered a medium sized Godfather, my staple at DiBella's, and had it toasted. I tried the sub sauce this time and I didn't hate the flavor, but it definitely made the bottom piece of the everything roll soggy. I'd leave it off for my next pickup/to go order. The sandwich, aside from that, was perfectly made with plenty of meat, cheese, and all of the toppings I ordered. I came to DiBella's before my son played a game at Montour High School. I really liked the inside of the restaurant. It had an old feel with a semi dark atmosphere. The woman who took my order was very friendly and helpful with the menu. All the staff seemed like they enjoyed working there. Subs come in 5, 7, 10, and 14 inch options. I got a 7 inch Godfather. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. I ordered a Italian hero 14" large. I ate only half as it was to big to eat all at once so I had diner for two nights. I've driven by this place many many times and finally decided to stop in on a weekday for lunch... Only issue with my first entry was they said hi, but didn't tell me to order as I walk in... I walked to the cashier thinking I needed to order there. They were moderately busy and by the time the cashier realized I was new to this and didn't order like I was supposed to, he told me to go back to do so. By that time, there was a long line. I opted for their new steak & cheese with spicy aioli. I also tried a couple of their salads; the pasta salad and the macaroni salad. The sub was EXCELLENT!!! Really good... fresh, tasty, and piping hot! The bread was nice too. The salads were just ok. The pasta salad was really nothing more than spiral pasta with what tastes like Kraft Italian dressing and a few veggies tossed in. The macaroni salad was better. Overall... On a whim and wanting a cheesesteak hoagie, I stopped by this place today. Set-up is different than I'd seen before. Walk in, order at the counter (unless you've arranged beforehand). Then walk down there to the register clutching your little deli-like number ticket. Then walk back to the counter and wait for your number to be called. Okay. I ordered a 7"cheesesteak with extra onions, no peppers, their special sauce oil stuff on the side. I waited maybe a bit longer than what I'd've expected, but no big deal. Once home, I opened a 3-and-a-half-inch section, and here's what I found: pretty sparse steak which I tried to move evenly over the bun, but there wasn't enough to do that, so I squished it together and discarded the piece of empty bun left over, close to a third of it. The tomato was mealy and mushy and tasted little like a tomato, and the onions...there certainly weren't the "extra" I'd requested, and, while soft, they didn't have the appearance of having been actually grilled. I tried the dressing stuff on a tiny bite and didn't care for it (too sweet for me), so I put mayo on the rest of the piece. The steak was...passable...just a little chewy and dry. I was working my way through the piece, though, until I bit down on either small piece of bone or gristle. That did it for me. I wrapped up the rest of that half and the other half and threw it away. This was absolutely not the cheesesteak I was craving, and now I won't be wanting one for some time. Won't be back, and can't recommend. read more

Stopped by with a few friends after golfing for a quick sub. The place was not real busy but there were a few take out bags on the take out self. The staff was friendly and asked if we wanted to had anything to our subs. I had the Zesty Italian Sausage and added banana peppers. I enjoyed the sub and the bread was good. Hoagies (commonly referred to as "subs" if you aren't from Pittsburgh) are definitely one of my favorite grab-and-go meals for busy nights or nights that I don't feel like cooking. DiBella's is about 2 minutes from the Robinson Mall and is right off Route 60, so it's easy to find. I've driven past it more times than I can count, and after my weekend grocery run this past weekend I finally gave it a shot. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend got a pulled pork sub from a different DiBella's location and he talked about how good it was for days. Although the pork sounds amazing, I settled on the chicken Philly. Chicken Phillys are great because I'm not big on red meat and it allows me to partake in the whole cheesesteak experience sans the steak. I ordered my sub loaded with grilled veggies including peppers, onions, and mushrooms, and I also got a light amount of mayo and some tomatoes on it, whole grain bread of course. It was nice that whole grain was an option as it typically isn't at most sub and pizza joints. Also, you can order a small (7 inch), medium (11 inch) or large (14 inch), and medium was the perfect size for me to eat half for dinner and save the other half for another meal. As I was on the way home with groceries in tow, I got my sandwich to go. I was already hungry, but during the drive the smell of my freshly made hoagie made me even hungrier. When it was finally time to eat, I opened the wrapping around the sandwich and it looked incredible. I ordered the sandwich hot, because cold chicken isn't my favorite by any means. The multigrain roll was soft and fresh as if it was just baked, and the sandwich was piled high with perfect portions of each of the toppings I ordered. Check out my photo, because words don't do it much justice. For less than $10 you can't beat grabbing a sandwich from DiBella's. I've struggled a bit pinpointing my favorite hoagie joint close to where I live but I'm pretty sure this place takes the cake. Calling and ordering will have your sandwich ready in less than 10 minutes, and it's the total package of what a hoagie should be. I'd recommend DiBella's to anyone! read more

One of the best philly cheesesteak I have tasted in Pittsburgh. They make just how I like it. Great bread the steak is tasty well seasoned and cheese was super. It is so hard to find good cheesesteaks in this town. Most places here put lettuce, tomatoes and onions on it. There is no lettuce, tomatoes or onions on a Philly cheesesteak. Only recently have I been going to DiBella's as a friend recommended it. i LOVE the subs, but I also love the salads. The best was the service. First of all, the food veggies and bread are so fresh. Meats were yummy and generous in portion. I wouldn't normally get a salad at a sub shop, but they had gorgeous lettuce and baby spinach in it and all the things I wanted and none that I didn't. Like the subs, it's all customized. I had a turkey salad and it was excellent. The Godfather is so good. i may try something different next time. I added a couple things to it. The best thing about my last visit was the customer service. I made a big mistake when I did my online order and not only were they super kind about it, but they corrected my error and redid it. I was hungry coming from the airport and wondered what to have for a late lunch. Walked into this place and ordered a Cheese Steak with all the ornaments on on brown bread. Best Cheese Steak I've eaten in a while and was only $11. I preferred it over the Firehouse Sub of $16. Too bad there aren't more of these sub shops around town. This place can be a total joke if you try and come here on your lunch break, there's a sweet spot in the morning to come when your food will actually be fast when they first open. You come here around 1130 and on it's a mad house and be ready to wait a good 20 minutes just for a veggie sandwich or salad. The staff at this one are not very friendly and the environment is not very clean. Don't get me wrong I really like DiBella's but the last 4 times I've been here have been a nightmare and there is no organization with anything. And they always seem to be very understaffed. I can't say anything about the service after lunch but you would think they would make sure the lunch service is staffed and prepared for a lunch rush in Robinson. I've been slowly leaning away from coming here for lunch and finding other places to hit up but I just wish this location would try and improve its self. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The sandwiches in the photos looked so good. Good portion size, melted cheese and addons had my mouth watering. I got the turkey, bacon, ham and roast beef option with chips. The portion size was huge... the taste was not... the bread was bland and the sandwich products just didn't provide any flavor. The interior is decorated in the 1940's era and the staff was pleasant and friendly, but for the same price I would have rather gone to Jersey Mikes.
