DiBella's Subs in Cranberry is a refreshing change from the usual corporate-owned sandwich chains. Unlike many other shops that rely on outside vendors, each location bakes their own bread in-house and that fresh-baked bread makes all the difference! I ordered the Italian Assorted, made with genoa salami, capicola ham, and spicy ham topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and the signature house Italian dressing on a fresh-baked sub roll. The meat-to-bread ratio was spot on and the ingredients tasted crisp and fresh, but it's the roll that's the star of the sandwich. It has that perfect "crusty on the outside, soft on the inside" texture that most sub shops miss and it's dense enough to hold up to the oil and vinegar in the dressing without getting soggy. The "Everything" roll -- topped with everything bagel seasoning -- adds a great savory crunch. It was, by far, one of the best Italian subs I've had in recent memory. My dining companion and her sometimes-pescatarian father both had tuna subs, which they both enjoyed. The service was also a highlight. Despite being busy with the lunch rush, the team was professional, patient, and engaging with us during the ordering process, even when my dining companion asked the obvious question "What's the difference between the 5" sub and the 7" sub?" (The correct answer is "Two inches.") Most importantly, they got our order exactly right. DiBella's in Cranberry is a great local option when you want a "real" sandwich made with fresh, tasty ingredients but don't have time for a meal at a sit-down restaurant. This sandwich shop has the slowest service ever. Our 3 small sandwiches were not ready within 27 minutes of placing the order in person, despite the restaurant making sandwiches for every other patron (in groups of 2 an 3) who placed an order after us. If you want to know about the cleanliness, the manager was commenting to an employee that she has seen the same straw wrapper on the floor for 4 days. If the manager refuses to keep her restaurant clean while knowing it's dirty, I can only imagine the food safety is top of mind for her. It wasn't just unappetizing--it looked potentially unsafe. I couldn't bring myself to take a bite. DiBella's has a reputation for big, bold subs, but serving meat that questionable? That's a serious failure in food safety and quality control. This goes far beyond personal preference--it's a health hazard. DiBella's needs to overhaul their prep and storage procedures immediately. To say I love the subs at DiBella's would be a huge understatement... In my 52 years of existence on this blue marble I have yet to find a better sandwich than the Godfather. I have been to this Cranberry location a handful of times whenever I am in the area and the sandwiches at this location are always the best of the best. Yes I know this is a chain store but unlike the others, you get a monster of a sub, and not just from the 14" size. I have never had a sub with so much flavor that I push myself to finish the 14" every time, no matter how full I am. Each sub is prepared with the finest and freshest of ingredients including that amazing fresh baked bread. They pack in the ingredients especially the meats, making each sandwich a two hand ordeal but one that I am more than happy to accept. Prices are really good for the monster you can get. DiBella's is consistently one of the better sub joints in the Pittsburgh area, and whether you go with an Italian, cheesesteak or other option - they have some of the best bread and freshest toppings you can get. And whatever they do with their chocolate chip cookies, I hope the recipe never changes. I want to particularly call out how courteous and accommodating the staff is at this location especially during the COVID 19 pandemic. And I like to joke, but really wish their corporate team would make the shift bake to Coca Cola products from Pepsi. If you like a little heat in your Italian, Godfather is an excellent choice. I added banana peppers, lettuce, tomato, etc...loved my hoagie...I did not have it heated. The second one was a steak n cheese, should have gotten it on a plain bread rather than everything roll which was our fault, we will know better next time. My only warning is if you are sensitive to smoke...the smoke from them cooking was a bit overwhelming inside the restaurant, I came out smelling like burnt food. read more

I'd love to try the original location in New York just to see what the original Dibella's was like! I will say the meats, cheeses and bread on the subs were fantastic. I just think some of the seasonings are a little off but that was large in part to the people preparing the food. We ordered a buffalo chicken, 14 inch sub as well as a Godfather, 14 inch sub and like I said the meats and cheeses inside were fantastic I just think the staff needs to be trained on seasonings on for example an Italian sub. One word describes DiBella's subs. Yummy. Enormous. Delicious. Okay, more than one word. We have tried the Godfather. My boyfriend actually got a large for the two of us to share. OMG this thing was SO HUGE. We could barely eat it. We have also tried the Italian. And the cheesesteak. Get it on the brown bread and it is by far our favorite. I love hearing them cook up the meat on the grill. Love that clanking sound on the grill. Also, the chocolate chip walnut cookies are excellent. Best cookies, ever.
