It was a cool place (literally) to stay but ladybugs were everywhere...I even slept with some. The jail cabin is not big enough for three adults and a 12 year old boy. We happened to book the cabin when it was super cold but did get to participate in some of the activities. The peddle cars were either broken or way too hard to maneuver; the basketball was old and wouldn't bounce. There was only one employee in November and that made it difficult to communicate. Had a great experience staying in the jail-themed cabin. The whole place is cute, fun, and cool. Not strong vocabulary words, I know, but as looking at any of the buildings made me happy, as doing the activities made me smile, and as others have commented positively on my photos, those are the words I've chosen. The cabins are cool on the inside too. We were tempted to go to Miss Kitty's, but based on the description of that cabin and the fact that we are family, we decided that cabin would be sickening for us. Better for a couple. The jail was cool on the inside. There is a jail area with a door that closes but doesn't latch or lock, so you could pretend to "lock" someone in jail, but there is no risk involved. Seems like a perfect room for kids, though we were grown adults. I could have done with no photos of dead outlaws on the wall. I mean, sure, ones who aren't alive anymore, but there were a couple of photos of men right after they were killed and that was a bit disturbing. I would LOVE to see some female outlaws represented in the room! We broke the law and were forces to be reckoned with too, ya know! There are lots of things to do. A general store has some essentials and candy (but I repeat myself, lol). There's a rope spider web to navigate, a giant trampoline-like thing, pedal cars, a corn pit, a playground, rubber duckie races, and various other activities. Great place to take kids of any age. I'm over 30. Kids can run all over the place after a long car trip and get that energy out. You won't rough it at Diamonds West. Our room had a jacuzzi tub. Happiness. And a good front porch from which you can see what's going on in town and read your book. More happiness. They had bonfires every night when it got dark. Not at teepees as advertised on the website. Maybe the teepees are for a different time of year or maybe they aren't PC these days. Not sure. But no matter. I didn't have any issues with cleanliness as some other reviewers mentioned. Our bedding was fine and we had enough t.p. (no pun intended), towels, etc. Our cabin had a musty smell, but it reminded me of when I used to go to camp, so that isn't out of the ordinary. Being said, I'm so glad we came to Diamonds Old West Hotel because my children really loved it here. The setup is pretty cool. I like the porch and the scenery. They have a teepee big enough to have a fire inside. Only two down falls to staying here. Let me just say first that if this wasn't a family owned business I would give two stars. However, I hope they see this review and learn from it and make changes. I'm going to start with the good. The theme is absolutely amazing. My kids loved it. The extra activities were awesome! The giant pillow to jump on was our favorite. We really enjoyed the tee-pee with the fire inside. An outdoor grill and picnic table were excellent as well. We were not arriving before the staff left for the evening so we really appreciated the call to let us know where the key would be. Upon arrival we found that we had hardly any toilet paper on the roll and no extra in the bathroom. After exploring a bit, we noticed someone in the general store and asked for toilet paper. She gave it to us and apologized, but I wonder what we would have done if she hadn't been there late at night. Around midnight it was time for bed and I looked at the kids bunk beds and they were not clean! There were little particles all over. I don't know what it was. I pulled the comforters off. I took their pillows off and gave them mine. I wasn't sure if the bedding had been changed, it certainly didn't look like it. This is unacceptable to me. I need cleanliness. If not for the toilet paper and dirty beds, I would give 5 stars. With that said, my kids loved it and want to go back. I would consider returning but only during hours where there are staff in case we run into the same problems. Tip: all the kids had a blast with the bubbles, but they only lasted 20 minutes. Everyone was disappointed when they ended. Maybe add another 10 minutes? read more

I stayed two nights with my wife, daughter, and three grandchildren. I will never stay here again and rate this stay barely a one. A list of negatives on this stay are follows: 1) My bed sheets did not look clean 2) I stayed in the Livery and the outside lights did not come on at night 3) Clean towels were provided one time 4) Grandchildren were told they could not play on bounce after 6 p m 5) Did not have bubbles, or foam, or water gun fights 6) There is not any security 7) Paid for activities that were not provided 8) Horrible mattress on my bed Bottom Line is "NOT WORTH THE MONEY" read more

Really nice cabins with a lots of actives for younger kids. My kids had a great time, only thing is all the actives shuts down around 7pm. We got in late on the 1st day and they only thing they had access to was the playground. The themed rooms are very unique. read more

This is the place to stay if you want family fun. They have thought of everything. Great play area, a bounce space that the adults even enjoyed, and tepees for roasting marshmallows. Decor was cute, beds were comfortable and the staff was very nice. We wish we'd booked a longer stay. read more

My wonderful wife realized that I was burning the candle at both ends, and was in need of a unique rest. Being a sass member and a western writer she believed I would enjoy this get away in a western style town.... boy were we totally WRONG! We travel all over the world and have never been treated so unprofessionally, and just plain rudely. As Capt. call from lonesome dove says "I can't abide rudeness in a man " We arrived and my wife entered to get our key to our room. Apparently this is a resort that prefers families..over couples, the woman who checked my wife In, was one of the rudest people we've ever met... all she wanted was my wives final payment, no greeting no nothing just the balance no hello... no nothing! since we own multiple businesses we understand customer service and there was none. My wife asked where the cabin was located? She looked frustrated at my wife and said I normally go over this with families, but you're single... my wife said no I'm not my husband is In the car. Later my wife entered the store to find out where we could buy smore stuff.. the lady again rude said over there, because you're going to have to pay for it?? Really we never had any other plans...We were suppose to stay there two day...when we arrived at the cabin while the outside was great the inside of the cabin had some problems.. old used up furniture.. musty smell bad television, we stayed in Miss Kitty's room I would suggest another room or better yet a totally different hotel. The bed was a dirty old velvet one, Old and uncomfortable, the pillows stained and dirty, we actually had to go buy pillows to sleep on, there was an old uncomfortable metal futon you could sit on facing away from the television. I had a restless first night but tried to live the adventure.. the s'mores were fun...the next day we enjoyed the Indian village ka-do-ha...on our way back we ran across a little black puppy one month old, very dehydrated and in need of care we figured we would care for him and take him with us in the morning...by the time we got back it was around three. We were the only people on the property period.. we were getting out of the car when Mrs. Rude came blasting out telling us we could not take the puppy in the room period! We knew that was the policy, however under the circumstances we thought we could work something out! BOY WERE WE WRONG! I even offered to pay extra just for the night and we'd leave first thing in the morning. However she was more rude that ever. Clearly she was not the owner, at least I hope not, owners are usually better at resolving problems instead of escalating them.. if she worked for me she'd be fired on the spot...I realize owning several businesses that policies are necessary, however there are exceptions... just like when a police officer pulls you over for speeding the flexibility of you getting a ticket or warning depends on the circumstances, not just strict legalism. Policies without the wisdom of enforcement, are ridiculous. We decided on the spot to vacate or room and start home, even though we still had the night... well the rest my wife wanted for me wasted, I drove another Four hours til we found a great place to spend the night...I implore you avoid this disaster.. if you have a family and we have four children and grandchild...they were not with us on this trip but I'd never take them here... go to the Wolf lodge instead. Kindness, courtesy, and sense require nothing more than some simple effort! We've gained a life long friend out of it a puppy who would have died! glad we left going to have a great night. My family and I stayed 1 night in the Jail cabin. When we first got there we were very impressed with how nice and cute the cabins are as well as the play areas for kids. Inside the cabin was tiny but very clean and cutely decorated in the theme. After we checked in and brought our things inside, we went diamond mining. When we came back hours later, the electricity was off in all the cabins as well as in the surrounding cities from a strong storm. I went to the General Store to inquire when the power will be on and if they had any flashlights. I was told it shouldn't be off long. When I asked the girl about flashlights, she said she didn't have any then called and asked the owner. The girl told me the owner was going to the store to buy the cabins flashlights. The owner came and gave us 1 flashlight per cabin regardless of how many people in the cabin. The power never came back on. The refrigerator in the room defrosted and made a huge puddle on the floor wetting our bags. We didn't even know it until the next morning because we couldn't see it in the dark. We couldn't wait to check out the next day and was glad we had booked only 1 night. It was hot all night, we couldn't see in the dark to take showers and my kids were scared of the darkness. I find it very hard to believe that this has not happened before given the extreme weather and tall trees around the power poles and lines. There was no backup plan and no flashlights readily available. While I understand completely the weather was beyond their control, the lack of backup plans for the guests is inexcusable. Very disappointed in the stay here. When I returned home I emailed Misty, the owner, my dissatisfaction with my stay. She was very angry and defensive. She sent me a nasty response telling me I was a liar and that she didn't appreciate my review on Facebook. On top of a horrible stay, the owner won't accept any responsibility in making her guests comfortable and instead further alienated me and my family from ever going back to their cabins. read more

We were there for my birthday weekend - 1/26/18 through 1/28/18. It was my 67 year old spouse, myself (49), son - 19 and daughter - 10. Everyone of us had a great time. This was the off season and we had the whole place to ourselves. This is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Shreveport. We also went to the Diamond crater and ate several times at EM's café. This is a unique and wonderful place for families and the folks that created it have obviously done so with much thought and love. I guess you could compare it to a "glamping" type experience or at least for us city folk it sort of was. Great balcony overlooking field where we were excited to see deer eyes with our flashlights at night. The teepee is so cool (probably 20 people could fit in there) and they had the fire lit and going when we arrived. I am not sure about what the experience would be like when there are lots of other folks staying there, but it was so cool and like an abandoned ghost town during the off season. This is kid heaven and if you like watching your children have the time of their lives... you should go here! read more
