We were a little concerned when we pulled in, and we were the only car in the parking lot, but you have to understand that this is just a really, really small town and they do not get a ton of visitors. But the hotel itself was really nice, we didn't use the pool, but it looked really clean. Front desk communication was excellent. We are wanting to come back to crater of diamonds, and when we do, this is where we will stay again. read more

Newly remodeled rooms but the kitchen area is still old. The range is ok but there are a few buttons missing. Doesn't affect the use of the stovetop though. The pans were gouged up (they were non stick). No salt or pepper for cooking. No wash rag or sponge in kitchen. No closet. Bathroom was small and smelled of urine. It also did not do a good job of sucking out any humidity from a shower. The pool was decent. The only vending is a Pepsi machine. Ice machine works. Accommodations are probably very on par with the town. Not much here other than a few places to eat and the Crater of Diamonds State park. It's a motel. Don't come here thinking it's a boutique hotel. Do not expect Marriott/Hyatt type accommodations. The rooms are clean and there aren't any bugs so that's a win in my book! We were told the attendant leaves at 8 pm so you would have to call an emergency number if you have a problem. They could do their guests a service by getting some room darkening curtains. The blinds don't drown out the lights. So I guess that's one positive. Nicely lit at night. The maid service does a nice job cleaning up and making the beds. Air conditioner works. Beds are memory foam and microfiber sheets make sleeping hot! I've stayed in worse places and better places. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. Guests are not a priority. Money is. Unsafe par. We came for a 3 day girls trip. Night 1 I stepped off the curb to walk to my car. There is an open hole that you cannot see in the dark parking lot. I tripped in this hole. The person working at the time was a witness. The hotel manager told me to go to the ER or another facility to check my foot, ankle and fibs. The hotel insurance policy would cover it. NOT. After the visit the manager came back to our r, informed us that he would not put in a claim for my injury and too bad, I am liable for all costs. He also ag the hole is a liability and would have to put up a rail around it to protect the next person. He lied! Our plans for fun were ruined by a cast to the knee thanks and no help, refund or anything offered by the owner/manager. read more

The remodeling is paint over a crumbling 1950s motel. For $140.00 a night there was no working vending machine, broken ice machine, closed pool in 90 degree weather, TV remote on the fritz, wooden play area that was broken and leaning like the tower of Pisa. When we first arrived we had to listen to a speech on what we could do or not do in the remodeled rooms. Shower didn't have much pressure and the mini fridge leaked on the food we planned to have for lunch the following day. We stayed one night and decided not to stay a second night. Upon checking out we were informed we would still be charged a second night because we didn't cancel 48hrs in advance. We spoke to the manager and there was no leniency. We were charged for a crappy motel room even though we were not staying. This whole experience was a disaster and would not recommend. read more

This little hidden gem here is one of the cleanest little motels I've ever been in I have to say the young lady that's running this is doing an amazing job we've just traveled three different states and we've we've stayed in $300 hotels and we've stayed in 75 dollar hotels and I have to say this is the best one in the last 4 days that we've been in what amazing little motel / inn I highly recommend this to anybody read more

This inn promises to be "the best" in town, but it is definitely not living up to its promises. On their website, I read "why we're the best" which included a pool and water slide for kids and families, and it is promised 365 days a year. That is inaccurate because we were ready to get in and were told the pool wasn't opened in actuality and they were getting ready to close it down. So, no it is not available year round. We saw complimentary breakfast on their sign.... Nope don't hang your hopes on that either because that's also inaccurate. No breakfast provided. How about a nice room then? Not really... we had some mold-ish looking spots on the ceiling and we had about 5 flies in our room the whole time. Ugh. They had a fly swatter in the drawer for us so I guess that was helpful? We also had combo body wash and shampoo in a dispenser which was not great - it was liquidy. What is most frustrating is the fact that it claims to be a "Boutique Hotel" but it is NOT. Boutique Hotels are supposed to feel special, unique, personalized and enriched in the community. The only thing we felt was connected to the community was a little history on Crater of Diamonds on the wall. We expected some little touch of uniqueness with their label of "boutique hotel" - nice spa type items in the bathroom, local coffee, local biscuits and jam for breakfast, etc.... There was nothing like that. When we brought up things that bothered us about the place, we weren't able to get a refund on our last night there. We ended up just packing up early and leaving before the last night. It just didn't have the impact we wanted in a nice hotel. The only good parts were the room being fairly clean, a cute chicken that went rogue and wandered around the hotel, the playground with other kids for our child to play with, and the girl who was constantly there taking care of stuff. The young girl who basically runs this place needs a raise because she is working sooo hard and she is very sweet. She also needs help with this hotel because she can't do it all on her own. Whoever owns this hotel needs to step up their game with special touches to make it a REAL boutique hotel, make sure your website and signs match your amenities, and give that young girl running your business a raise. read more

Management ladies at the front desk are beyond nice (they deserve 5 stars)....but when you check in, they will give you a mile long list of things you can't do and then follow it up by saying the owners are watching (via cameras all over) and will call and yell at you if you break a rule. Felt like being on "Big Brother." Not a very nice welcome after a long day of traveling. Don't be fooled by the "remodeling" either. If you call new squeaky furniture and fixtures from Walmart, remodeling, then you'll love it. Our bathroom was straight out the the 70's and then they put a bathtub wall plastic insert ON TOP OF the 70's tile. (The ancient tile was still on the top and sides of the insert)...so it was done as cheaply as possible...and it shows. Also pictures of pool are misleading. The pool is right next to the road where huuuuuge trucks pass by frequently. While we were there, a local business owner was killed by a truck that ran off the road and killed her. Scary! Not a place you want your kids to be spending time in when semis are passing by very closely. When we turned on the stove, it reeked of fish. So we couldn't cook at all. And they tell you not to adjust the fridge temp, but it was barely barely cold. My cream cheese melted inside of it. I'd stay away from here. There was NOTHING "boutique" about this place except for the actual word written on a sign hung above the bed. We left early to stay at a Holiday Inn on our last night.....and boy did that feel like the Four Seasons compared to here. read more

I know you can't expect chain hotels in small cities, but we were pleasantly surprised during our stay in Murfreesboro while we mined for precious things at Crater of Diamonds. My husband cringed when the silhouette of the dated building into view. "Did you really book us in a roach motel?" I pleaded: "THEY GOT GOOD REVIEWS, DAMNIT!" When we finally pulled into the lot, we noticed how incredibly clean the outside of the buildings looked- almost as if they kept them pressure-washed to look spiffy. I gave them a mental nod of approval. Check-in was friendly and quick, which was great because we were ready to crash. A sign above the bed read "Yellow Diamond Inn, Founded in 2016." So any of the more older reviews about bed bugs, you should reconsider because it looks like someone new and better took over. Beds: some of the better mattresses I've slept on in hotels and the pillows were juuuust right. I even dug the lightweight bedspreads that kept just the right amount of body heat. Definitely a simple little place, but it's quiet, comfy, and a good price if you're trying to find a good place to stay to hunt diamonds. read more

Great location, very clean! The office clerk was really nice and helpful. The cost seemed fair when compared to other locations.

Stayed sat-Monday, weekend it was more busy (like normal hotels are.) Very cute rooms, look recently updated. Pool is nice and relaxing! Very close to shops and food down town, you can walk and enjoy the day. Breakfast is your typical cereal, yogurt, bagel, coffee, packaged muffins- only Wish they had liquid creamer for the coffee!! Check for bed bugs! The motel seemed clean and updated, but when I did my bed bug check there was a live one on the pillow in the room. I looked online and the pictures seemed to match so I left and went somewhere else to think about how to tell the front desk as they seemed pretty uninterested at check-in. The next morning I go to the office which still had an awful stinch to it. I talked to the guy at the desk and showed him the picture and he claimed that someone must have brought it in as they have memory foam mattresses that don't house bed bugs (FYI they can live in carpet and curtains too). I asked about a refund and was told no. It was only $60 so oh well I guess. I should have known better with the price but the reviews were decent for a small town place. read more

One of few places open near the diamond digging place. Did some digging, did a canoeing deal during the day, and needed a place to stay. Clean room, place has good wifi to watch netflix, and a pool. Yes, it's old and not up to par with the nice hotels, but it is pretty good for what it is. If you are digging for diamonds, this is a good place to spend the night or two. read more

Me and my husband and 2 grandchildren came to go the diamond mine. Let me say this place is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Our room was spotless and the beds were so comfortable I asked the nice lady in the office if I could just take it home with me lol. Everything was great. Fron the wifi that kept the kids happy with their Ipads at night to the swimming pool cooling us off after coming in hot from the mine. They have a sluice box to wash all our buckets of dirt from the mine also. The ladies in the office always spoke and answered any questions we had. And we had lots of questions. The housekeepers went above and beyond to keep the room clean everyday. We are already planning another trip and we will only stay here. read more

We had reservations for two nights, but were too grossed out to stay the second night. We arrived late in the evening with three tired kids, so we stayed the first night. There were roaches in the room. We called the office, only to be informed that there are fly-swatters in each room for our "convenience." Yeah right. Decent place, but rather expensive considering how dirty the room was. This place capitalizes on its proximity to the Crater, and its obvious. Stayed 9/9/20 and experienced the following; Coffee Creamer hard as a brick. Old towels, mismatched and rough. Cheap shampoo/conditioner packets. Multiple pubic hairs found in shower, which leaked like crazy. Hairdryer was melted. No breakfast, although offered. Bed was rock hard, but clean. Clock radio in room broken. Dead bugs on furniture. Bug splats present on walls. Luke warm water at best at 7:00am. Only 1 bedside electrical outlet. Other outlet for fridge/microwave had a 6 plug expansion, fire hazard. Dead bugs littering front patio and huge mold/mildew stain from Air Conditioner on front patio. Only benefit is as mentioned, proximity to crater, and an available slous station in the parking lot which we didn't use. TV was nice and up to date. Cable worked fine. Fridge was ice cold. Too few advantages for $100/night. Would not stay here again. read more

Extremely courteous and accommodating staff. The pool was IMMACULATE!! Cold A/C, hot shower, satellite TV and WIFI. The guy working there provided everything we needed to be comfortable, and he had an awesome attitude!!! The name has been changed to The Yellow Diamond a few months ago, when the current owners bought it. HIGHLY recommend!!! read more
