They were so amazing and friendly and warm and amazing. So we each a candle. It was so much fun. We had a blast. I recommend that if you're in Big Bear YOU NEED TO STOP BY HERE. It was $6.50. Such a great deal for the experience and a blast. I will definitely be coming back here. My Girlfriend made a heart shaped candle and I made a diamond one. Very very very cool place! My boyfriend and I visited big bear during this past Labor Day. I saw this and immediately wanted to try it! They have many different shapes and sizes to choose from starting at $6.99 and up to $25.99 (I might be a dollar off on the higher price) they have shapes from stars to squares, to pyramids, to regular cylinder shapes and a squiggly line kind of candle. So pretty much you get this tin and fill it up with all these different colored wax cubes. You fill the Tin with any colors and how ever much you want (up to the top) and then you get to choose the scent you want. There are about 20-25 scents to choose from. I chose three (brown sugar I think is the best, I also chose lavender, and eucalyptus). From there Paul (the son) says you can stay or come back in 15 minutes and the candle will be done! His father is sometimes there and also helps (Paul). They also sell bath bombs, chapsticks, lotions. I think they just sell those to try and get more money but the candles are the main event. Overall a great experience and he definitely needs to open up some places in LA and other places. read more

My friend has a cabin in Big Bear so when we went up last month, we found this gem of a place while walking around! It's a small store with an area for custom candle making where the owner, Chrystel, will walk you through the process of selecting scents and colors for your candle. Us girls were completely drawn to the premade soaps which resemble slices of colorful bread. They smelled HEAVENLY and there were a few diff scents on the shelves. Soaps were $5 each and at first I was a bit hesitant, but Chrystel told us that everything is hand-made with natural & extremely hydrating ingredients (ex. shea butter, etc... *I can't remember all the ones she listed as its been so long so I'll have to give an update next time*)!! Honestly, the soaps smell so nice that I ended up rationing my treasured soap slice. Luckily, my friend went up last week and picked me up another one!! From what my friend told me, the owner is super flexible and if we call in before we head up, she'll custom make lotions and things for you! Would make for cute customizable gifts as well! read more

My daughter and I came in on a Sunday morning to make our own candles. Paid a little over $12 for the two of us. Price will vary depending on the size candle you want to make. Both of our candles turned out beautiful and smelling great. Too cute to really use to be honest :-) The owner was so nice and sweet. I agree that this definitely was a hidden gem. However, I paid $80 to make two large candles and requested my candle to be "strongly scented." I still can barely smell the candle and the bottom of the candle receive no scent at all. I did not get the meet the owners of the store. The place was being operated by two kids. They were cute and definitely passionate about candle making, but weren't so accommodating. I would have given this place 5 stars if I had gotten a stronger scent within the entire candle as I requested, and if they offered some sort of engraving to commemorate the candle. read more

Fun little stop in the Big Bear village. They sell bath bombs and soaps, but the biggest thing here is making your own candle! Basically, you place your chosen colored wax cubes into a tin (your choice of shape), tell the shop owner what scents you want, and he takes care of the rest. I called the owner she was very concern and willing to fix the problem. I told her because it stains all my kids clothing and have to buy new clothes. The owner felt bad willing to refund my money. I purchased $300 worth of eczema cream/ointment. She is willing to refund me. I found out she only refunded me $75. I tried calling and texting her she ignored me. She never refund me 100 %. We came here during our vay-kay to big bear and were very pleased with our experience. The shop is quaint and unique. What makes this place unlike any other is that people are able to create your their own candles by picking a candle shape, choosing colored wax blocks for inserts and selecting a custom scents. We both made our own candles...even my boyfriend enjoyed making his own candle and picking his favorite scent. They have a ton of amazing scented oils and the candle shapes are so cute! I LOVE my eucalyptus candle; and the best part is I picked the perfect colors to match my bathroom decor! We chatted with the owner and found out she's an organic chemist... We spend a lot of time in Big Bear but somehow have always missed this shop on our way to get fudge. I am so glad we stopped in today. The owner and her daughter were very sweet. We had fun making candles. My daughter is severely autistic and makes odd noises, and sometimes people stare or treat her differently. Met Paul Snr and Paul Jnr today. What a wonderful father and son. The young girls I was with were making candles. At this time I observed how calm, patient and respectful the young man was with the girls (paul jnr). I commented to their mum about it and she agreed. After going back to collect the candles, I saw the skin care range and took 4 items to the counter. That's when I met Paul Snr. He was also so kind, he explained to me how to use each product (but in a caring way, there was no salesman tone or approach here) and he was genially excited for me to use the product. He oozed warmth and I enjoyed speaking to him. The mother of the girls came to the counter and told paul Snr how fantastic his employee was with the girls and he was lucky to find such an employee. That's when Paul shared that the young man was his son. There was some more personal points that he shred which I won't go in to but it made us walk out feeling like we had been graced by 2 souls you done come across often. Spent the weekend in Big Bear and Dreamlight Designs was one of the highlights of my trip! We stopped in completely by accident and were immediately enraptured by the delightful scents. Every area we walked to had a wonderful scent and the owner (Chrystel) was extremely pleasant and helpful! To our delight we learned that we could get practically anything we wanted in the store in whatever scent we chose! Since I have moved up to Big Bear I have tried every soap on the market for dry skin. The air is so dry up here you need something very moisturizing. Then I found Dreamlight Designs and Crystal. Her homemade all natural organic soaps and products are amazing. It's truly a miracle, no more dry skin. Her soaps are the only soap I will ever use.
