As I was leaving, the therapist watched me from the doorway and asked why I hadn't tipped. That interaction made an already disappointing experience even more uncomfortable. The team generally offers specials and you get a massage at a fraction of the price -- about $50 or so for an hour. It is very difficult to find such an affordable spot, and one that keeps decent hours. It is very accessible. But the space is lacking in ambiance (though it is tidy) and the massage was just OK. Nothing terribly wrong, but I did not experience the depth of relaxation to which I was accustomed. Also, I left feeling appreciative for the time, but the benefit of the massage (which will usually last me 2-3 days ) was not apparent, so I ended up going to my regular masseuse later in the week. Given these reasons, Southbay Massage simply can't compete, and pales pales in great comparison, with my favorite location: Cozy Thai.
