Terrible massage! Used one hand most of the time, She asked if I wanted a hand job, demanded a higher tip than normal, didn't feel like a massage 2/10, paid and walked away since she didn't say anything after the tip which she didn't like. Idk how this place has 4 stars . Entitled Asians demanding for a tip since they don't make much working there read more

The place is nice and clean. Great $$ prices. It's very convenient to me, 2 blocks from my house. Unfortunately I didn't have a good connection with the massage therapist , too young for what I am used to, not even introduced herself . I will give you guys another chance with a different one and more mature (experienced ) massage therapist . read more

Aimee entered the room at 2:20pm to begin the massage session. However, throughout the session, she left the room multiple times to attend to other matters, sometimes for as long as 2 minutes. Unfortunately, during one of these instances, I was left exposed without proper coverage, and had to use the sheet to cover myself. As a result of these interruptions, I estimate that I missed out on approximately 10-15 minutes of the massage that I had paid for. read more

We were told we could have a couples room when we called in. When we arrived we were told it wasn't available. We should have left. We really wanted a relaxing couples massage but of course the massage therapist grabbed my husband private parts and offered a happy ending. ugh. He said it was awkward and the massage was terrible. He don't get massages very often and this was supposed to be a treat. Instead we left feeling terrible I you are looking for a hand job I gourds this place is for you but if you want a couples massage go somewhere else. Gross read more

Here's my updated 2022 review: As you may know this was my go-to affordable massage place for the price back when they first opened. I haven't had a massage since pre-covid so coming back after quarantine was a change. My perspective on the space & staff definitely shifted. PRICING: their prices raised which is given due to the economy & if you want 1 hour combo massage (30 min body+30 min feet) it will be $55 whereas 60 min full body will run you $60. That $5 difference isn't that much. STAFF: We had a couples massage appointment that was set for 8pm & was on time for the appt but staff told us that due to one of the clients extending their massage time we will have to wait 15 more min for an available therapist. They could have easily called us to let us know this instead of us being early and waiting more time. Another thing I noticed is that they have no regard for the client, one therapist was periodically going in and out of the room whenever someone came into the front door and that cut into the massage time by us just waiting for them to come back & once we finished and was giving the tip (which I do 15% of the actual massage) they laughed at how much I tipped. Maybe this is because of their ridiculous sign that says: $10 bad, $15 good, $20 great . First of all, I don't justify that sign because paying $120 with a 15 percent tip was pretty justified to me. Cleanliness: Not going to lie, the area outside is not really a great neighborhood but going inside, the ambiance was cozy and serene. They were very clean from the front waiting area as well as their massage room. The only thing that caught me off guard was the sheet that covers you felt oily/greasy (felt like it wasn't a clean sheet that was given) Benefit of the doubt: probably was clean but the oil just wouldn't come off? Who knows!! read more

second time here! Let's just say this is our go-to affordable couple massages spot! Im enjoyed the massages, they were relaxing I highly recommend this place! read more

Been coming here for years. Coco is amazing. Very nice staff, great service and the 1 hr massage is so worth the money and more.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ! the guy is a total pervert. Super uncomfortable experience. I did not even finish the massage I left. It is the same guy that worked at happy head in Bonita and got fired for sexual harassment. This guy is disgusting if I knew I had him as my masseuse person I would of walked out right away. Got charged up front , left not even 5 min into the massage and I still got demanded a tip ? No way ! Stay away from this place I'm sure the good reviews are fake . they have a sign that you must tip 10,15,20 I seen the front girl go after a customer for tipping $8 not what is on the chart ?? That's ridiculous read more

Not Recommended ! The place is inexpensive. I got 60mins massage for $25. Like other reviewers say, there's a sign at front saying; TIP Poor: $10 OK: $15 Happy: $20 Customers usually determine amount of tip based on the price for serve IF they are happy with it. I am guessing tip is all the masseuses get each time and I feel sorry if that's the case, but they should not depend on tip that way. They should just increase their price for service, then the masseuse gets more tip as well. read more

Very good massage. I rode my bike here they have shower you can use in case you do cardio before you arrive. Massage has plenty of pressure and room is very comfortable. Not the best ive had in San Diego but its definitely close second! will return. read more

Very clean and professional massage place to go to! I work many hours through the week as a construction worker making my back super sore but when I went in to the parlor a kind person named Linda gave me the best deep tissue massage ever! Definitely recommend the place if you're looking to relax your muscles read more

DO NOT RECOMEND!! DO NOT GO!!! Cheap, rude people that don't even understand what you want and do not know how to listen when you are trying to explain to them. ZERO customer service. Also my husband and my self noticed that the have an aquarium in the lobby and the poor fish are in bad condition and one of them is super big for such a small space. I don't want them to take my money and be part of animal cruelty. We will rather go to a space that is more expensive and it's really focused on overall well-being and comunity conscious. read more

I visit Star Massage periodically and sometimes frequently to relieve and comfort my muscle pains, including back, upper arms, upper legs and lower legs. New to the area - Literally been working my butt off - my feet and my legs have been sore and in pain and wanted a deep tissue- explained this to the lady in the front - she was super sweet- but when I asked the gentleman for a deeper massage he didn't want to understand even if I tried to use different words. Just kind of upsetting I spent $65 for oil just to be rubbed. I've spent too much money in the past searching for a great massage and always tip more than extra when they do amazing - But I left with absolute no work done. Such a waste of my also hard work money. read more

I used to like going to this place until now they placed a tip suggestion sign. From 10/15/20 dlls. The worst is that after you tip the masseuses have the audacity to ask for more . Like if your tip is not enough ! Since when the tip amount is dictated by the business or employee. Won't be going here no more ! read more

My masseuse was Coco and my massage was fantastic!!! I was so tight and now I'm completely relaxed!!!

I came here for a massage but they are trying to charge me $62 twice for an hour full body massage and the lady telling me that she's not then when I called my bank they said that they did. So I told the lady and end up canceling and went to another place read more

Worst massage place ever , the lady doing my massage constantly pressed up against my spine and made my body feel more sore then relaxed , then wanted me to tip her $60 more dollars after I already payed for the 30 minute massage, she also kept repeatedly getting up to check the front desk which took time away from my massage. I don't recommend coming here. read more

My husband and I have 2 hour free time without the kids, we usually get a massage once a month, didn't plan anything we called a bunch of massage places but none was available. Except star massage, I was kind of skeptical because of some of the reviews, but my husband said we should give it a try. I am happy we did, because it's one of the best massage we had for a while. read more

4/13/19 first time here. The prices on full body massages are great. $40 for 1 hr massage or $60 for 90 minutes. The place is open seven days a week from 10 AM to 10 PM. The first person I had was a male & I didn't like his hands they were too rough for my taste. I had asked him to please massage me more tender but there's a language barrier. he stopped in the middle of session and asked the owner to come in and they ended up bringing another person to take over of which her name is Linda and her hands are heaven. Linda, gives the greatest massages. If you get her please tip her person. You're not going to be disappointed. As long as Linda is working there I am going to make weekly self-care appointments with her. read more

My go to place just got questionable. Been coming here for the year I've lived in SD. Always done me well. They pull stunts like, "$20 massage is all booked, only $30 massages available." Both are great for the price regardless. But tonight, called around my normal time. Got a later apt than I was hoping for. They called me early asking if I could come in, couldn't. So I went in at the first agreed upon it time. Get there 5 min early. Wait for 10 min Sit in the chair for 5 min more Get the worst massage I've had there. Guy was horrible. I know I was late in the day, but everyone was so noisy leaving, it was really distracting. He missed spots on on side that he'd do on the other. Could barely feel him massaging and finally had to ask for him to do it harder. And worst of all he finished 10 minutes early. So I was a regular here but idk now Updated: I can't find anywhere with stronger hands and better prices and overall service and bang for the buck. But don't be stingy people. Take care of the per$on taking care of u. read more

The massage quality depends on each individual needs and preference( I suppose). The first time I went to Star Massage, I had a man who had very strong hands!! For someone who is in desperate need for a deep tissue massage, then he is the man for you! I came to realize it was too much pressure for me, because later that same day I felt bruised all over (not visibly bruised) and the soreness lasted a few days. However, he was very professional and routinely asked if I was "okay" during the massage. The second time, I was not hesitant to tell the different masseuse when too much pressure was applied. He accommodated the pressure to different areas as I seemed fit. It was the best massage ever!! I got the 45 minute full body & 45 minute foot massage and cannot say how much it helped me. All the knots I had were relieved! I left feeling overly relaxed!! The drive back home was dangerous as I could have easily fallen asleep lol!! Will keep coming back!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is because the place is not very aesthetic and it's had a slight unpleasant smell both times :( The massage therapists do smoke outside the premise (which personally does not bother me); but some people may want to keep that in mind. Nice host/cashier with polite and welcoming attitude BTW! read more

****DO NOT RECOMMEND ***** The massage was alright, I like that they include the free hot stones, it was a nice detail. My friend and I went for a couple massage and my friend felt her masseuse was inappropriate with her butt. What really set me off was that as soon as it was time to pay, my friend and I were both leaving $6 tip each (not satisfied) and the front lady insisted it was mandatory to leave atleast $10 and I told her a tip could not be mandatory and she went on to tell me WE BOTH MUST leave atleast $10 tip! I just walked away but definitely will not be coming back! ****DO NOT RECOMMEND ***** read more

It was the best hour of my week and I wanted a deep tissue that would really work out my trigger points....it was BEAUTIFUL

It's not the best $25 foot massage I've had, but it also wasn't the worst. (Used to be $20/hour, they increased the rates) Normally I'll drive to convoy or El Cajon Blvd for my massages but this location was convenient for me today. First of all the location is kinda sketchy, especially at night. It's located in the corner of a strip mall. When I parked and got out of my car, there was a crazy drugged up bum yelling at the top of her lungs and cussing at nobody. Just run inside quickly and you'll be fine. You get what you pay for, I guess. I was grossed out when I smelled cigarettes on my masseuse's fingertips as he began to massage my face. He also grunted and made a lot of noises during the massage which was distracting. Again, you get what you pay for, I guess. My arm massage felt very rushed. No oil was used, and he spent about 1-2 minutes per arm. During my back massage, I had asked him to be more gentle since I have a bad back. He was kind and made sure the pressure he applied was good. 10 minutes into it, he was called out and another masseuse swapped out with him. This guy was so rough on my back, I couldn't breathe. I also noticed they finished about 5 minutes before the hour was up, bummer, but at this point I was over it and wanted to go home. They also stand outside and watch you as you're paying to see how much of a tip you leave them.... read more
