We were told we could have a couples room when we called in. When we arrived we were told it wasn't available. We should have left. Here's my updated 2022 review: As you may know this was my go-to affordable massage place for the price back when they first opened. I haven't had a massage since pre-covid so coming back after quarantine was a change. My perspective on the space & staff definitely shifted. PRICING: their prices raised which is given due to the economy & if you want 1 hour combo massage (30 min body+30 min feet) it will be $55 whereas 60 min full body will run you $60. That $5 difference isn't that much. STAFF: We had a couples massage appointment that was set for 8pm & was on time for the appt but staff told us that due to one of the clients extending their massage time we will have to wait 15 more min for an available therapist. They could have easily called us to let us know this instead of us being early and waiting more time. Another thing I noticed is that they have no regard for the client, one therapist was periodically going in and out of the room whenever someone came into the front door and that cut into the massage time by us just waiting for them to come back & once we finished and was giving the tip (which I do 15% of the actual massage) they laughed at how much I tipped. Maybe this is because of their ridiculous sign that says: $10 bad, $15 good, $20 great . First of all, I don't justify that sign because paying $120 with a 15 percent tip was pretty justified to me. Cleanliness: Not going to lie, the area outside is not really a great neighborhood but going inside, the ambiance was cozy and serene. They were very clean from the front waiting area as well as their massage room. Like other reviewers say, there's a sign at front saying; TIP Poor: $10 OK: $15 Happy: $20 Customers usually determine amount of tip based on the price for serve IF they are happy with it. I am guessing tip is all the masseuses get each time and I feel sorry if that's the case, but they should not depend on tip that way. New to the area - Literally been working my butt off - my feet and my legs have been sore and in pain and wanted a deep tissue- explained this to the lady in the front - she was super sweet- but when I asked the gentleman for a deeper massage he didn't want to understand even if I tried to use different words. 4/13/19 first time here. The prices on full body massages are great. $40 for 1 hr massage or $60 for 90 minutes. The place is open seven days a week from 10 AM to 10 PM. The first person I had was a male & I didn't like his hands they were too rough for my taste. I had asked him to please massage me more tender but there's a language barrier. he stopped in the middle of session and asked the owner to come in and they ended up bringing another person to take over of which her name is Linda and her hands are heaven. Linda, gives the greatest massages. If you get her please tip her person. You're not going to be disappointed. The massage quality depends on each individual needs and preference( I suppose). The first time I went to Star Massage, I had a man who had very strong hands!! For someone who is in desperate need for a deep tissue massage, then he is the man for you! I came to realize it was too much pressure for me, because later that same day I felt bruised all over (not visibly bruised) and the soreness lasted a few days. However, he was very professional and routinely asked if I was "okay" during the massage. The second time, I was not hesitant to tell the different masseuse when too much pressure was applied. He accommodated the pressure to different areas as I seemed fit. It was the best massage ever!! I got the 45 minute full body & 45 minute foot massage and cannot say how much it helped me. All the knots I had were relieved! I left feeling overly relaxed!! The drive back home was dangerous as I could have easily fallen asleep lol!! Will keep coming back!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, is because the place is not very aesthetic and it's had a slight unpleasant smell both times :( The massage therapists do smoke outside the premise (which personally does not bother me); but some people may want to keep that in mind. It's not the best $25 foot massage I've had, but it also wasn't the worst. (Used to be $20/hour, they increased the rates) Normally I'll drive to convoy or El Cajon Blvd for my massages but this location was convenient for me today. First of all the location is kinda sketchy, especially at night. It's located in the corner of a strip mall. When I parked and got out of my car, there was a crazy drugged up bum yelling at the top of her lungs and cussing at nobody. Just run inside quickly and you'll be fine. You get what you pay for, I guess. I was grossed out when I smelled cigarettes on my masseuse's fingertips as he began to massage my face. He also grunted and made a lot of noises during the massage which was distracting. Again, you get what you pay for, I guess. My arm massage felt very rushed. No oil was used, and he spent about 1-2 minutes per arm. During my back massage, I had asked him to be more gentle since I have a bad back. He was kind and made sure the pressure he applied was good. 10 minutes into it, he was called out and another masseuse swapped out with him. This guy was so rough on my back, I couldn't breathe. I also noticed they finished about 5 minutes before the hour was up, bummer, but at this point I was over it and wanted to go home.
