I was given a redundant speech about things that a typical dog owner would know. I repeatedly had told Barry what issues I wanted to deal with when we spoke on the phone and none of them were addressed... I wasn't even given any type of advice to address the issues. He told me over and over again that this is all I would need to know about getting my pup to behave... he didn't address the puppy after his initial hi. I was told that if I wanted to book him again it would be $95 ( each lesson )with a 4 lesson commitment. These $95 lessons would actually "address" my issue. I signed up for a dog trainer, not a speech. If that was the case I think you should mention to the customer that they're about to spend $125 on a puppy lesson which is more or less a speech for you. I can't comment on how well of a trainer he is, since he didn't train my dog... he only spoke during our lesson. If you're looking to book him, and have a puppy ask for the obedience lessons...skip the puppy lesson all together. Trust me .

I never had a pet growing up and was completely lost when we rescued Stormie in November 2019. I researched dog trainers near Farmingdale and everywhere I looked I saw a recommendation for Sublime K9. Katie arranged to come at the end of November for an initial consultation to get to know us, Stormie and how many lessons we would need to purchase. Katie worked with us for scheduling due to having a sometimes unpredictable schedules. Katie would come for hour lessons where she modeled and demonstrated the command she wanted us to perform then would allow me and my boyfriend to take turns working with Stormie through that command. It was helpful because she would pinpoint things we were to correct as we were training and how to advance or regress the command. The training sessions were for us to be educated on how to train our dog because in the end of the day, she would be with us and not Katie. We had difficulty with walking Stormie all of a sudden. She would freeze and not want to continue the walk. Katie allows you to text her whenever to ask her questions! We sent her videos and pictures and during the next lesson she worked with us to get Stormie to be more compliant on walks. I cannot thank Katie and Sublime K9 enough. You have educated us so much and have helped us learn about our pup. We are able to understand what she is trying to communicate to us as she has learned what we are trying to communicate with her.

He is also very jealous if anyone comes near me or my husband and barks uncontrollably when we hug or kiss each other. We have a baby on the way, so I called Sublime K9 to have him evaluated to see if we could fix his bad behaviors before the baby comes. I was afraid that at 3.5 years old, it was too late to break his bad habits. Katie came to our home for a FREE consultation/evaluation (other places I called charged for the evaluation unless you decide to proceed with the training - Sublime K9 was free regardless). She was very knowledgeable and informative and made me feel very comfortable from the start. She was very honest with me and assured me that just 5 sessions to work on basic commands should be enough to correct his problem behaviors. I especially love that she didn't try to sell me more sessions than were necessary and the pricing was very fair. Katie is far more than just a dog trainer - she is a human trainer. She not only worked extremely well with our dog, she educated us on how to best train him and teach him to listen to us, outside of training sessions. As first time dog owners, we had a lot to learn and Katie helped us every step of the way. She even went out of her way to check on me after a frustrating session where I began to doubt whether I would be able to make any progress with my dog. I can happily say, our corgi is totally transformed and I feel confident that our new peaceful lifestyle will be welcoming for our baby girl!

This review is for the grooming salon only…read more Like many of us, I consider my dog a member of my immediate family. And as such I try and meet his needs with the same zeal and loyalty he gives to us. In my opinion having a good working relationship with my dogs' groomer is something to strive for. After all I'm trusting them with a family member. I have been getting my dog groomed here for over a year. I have used the same young lady for the entire time. She was always friendly and accommodating. She looked like she enjoyed her work and my dog seemed to like her. I made an appointment online for Saturday 9/26 9am. All of our appointments have been on Saturday mornings. On Friday 9/25 I received a call from her telling me that because of the expected Nor'Easter storm on Saturday, the salon "might" close. She offered me an appointment on Sunday. But, when I said I wouldn't be available until 12pm ...she said that she leaves early on Sundays. In desperation I asked her if I could keep the Saturday appointment, just in case the salon did in fact open? I specifically asked her, "you said might close or is it in fact going to be closed?" She told me no, it will be closed. With that, she canceled my appointment. Out of curiosity and because of the light rain, I called the grooming salon at 10am. I was surprised when someone picked up, told me they were open although depending on the circumstances may wrap up early. She said they were never expected to close. I spoke to the manger Louis and explained to him my disappointment. I do not understand why she would lie to me? He said some staff may have logistical issues coming to work however, that is no reason to lie to the customer. He could not explain her actions, apologized on her behalf and said she would be spoken to. Unfortunately this has broken the trust I placed in her and as a result, I will no longer be coming here for the grooming salon services. I have done shopping in the store itself and have always found the salespeople helpful and friendly. I will continue to shop here if I need something for my furbaby.

I tell our trainers Katie and Nicole all of the time that they are life savers. We brought our puppy here at 1 years old - a small wild, energetic Jack Russell who knew every time I was on a video meeting to bark his head off and embarrass me EVERY TIME! Walks were out of the question since he would pull on the leash to the point he would choke himself... sitting on the deck was a nightmare in our own backyard because he would bark at the wind (yes, the wind), the leaves moving, the birds and obviously the neighbors. Does this sound familiar? I questioned my decision of getting a puppy and then I found Max K9. We did a 3 week Board & Train where I was super hesitant of dropping him off (because no one wants to leave their baby anywhere), but they were so good with sending video progress and pictures and including my husband and I in the process. I joke with everyone that I think they implanted a program into his brain! Lol! The transformation was unreal. We were instantly able to communicate with him and actually go on a walk.. outside in the real world. What a breath of fresh air, literally! Max K9 has given us the ability to live an active lifestyle and have our pup enjoy it with us. Hikes, traveling, morning walks, trips to the store, brewery visits, long car rides out of state... you name it. I would do it all over again if I had to without a question. So if you've made it this far, thanks for reading. I hope this helps you make your decision to having a better relationship with your pup and enjoying life with them every step of the way.

Stormie is a rescue who we adopted in 2019 and underwent 2 surgeries in 2021 due to bilateral CCL surgery. She was cooped up for an extended amount of time during recovery. We were unable to take her outside without her reacting to other dogs and sometimes even people. Stormie even gave us difficulty when we wanted to go for a short walk. It was so frustrating and difficult taking her out in public that we needed help. We have heard of Maximum K9 from many of our friends and even the great reviews I've seen on dog groups and online. I called to inquire about the types of training (group vs. individual) and it was clear that we needed to take private lessons. We signed up for a package of 6 lessons with Sherry that were one hour long for 6 consecutive weeks. Our first day, Sherry got to know about Stormie's behaviors - positive and negative, what we were having difficulty with and what our goals were. Sherry worked with us each week when training Stormie (and me) on how to modify or progress a skill. We learned how to heel, which we never were taught from another trainer elsewhere, and the importance of heel. We were given homework on what to practice from the training sessions to continue our work outside of the facility. Sherry helped Stormie become less dog reactive in a safe manner at Maximum K9. Stormie was slowly exposed to the board and train dogs in the facility that had various levels of size and temperament. Each week, Stormie learned how to follow her commands and not react to different dogs. With Sherry's consistent training, Stormie was able to heel with me in a circle with other dogs and sit next to them without any reaction at all. I cannot find the words to thank Sherry for helping Stormie and myself. I came into Maximum K9 with Stormie trying to pull my arm off and reacting to dogs in the lobby to now leaving with my arm back intact and her in a nice heel. I will refer all my dog lovers and friends to Maximum K9 and Sherry going forward! Thank you again!
