My life and my relationship with my dog has turned around since meeting Anthony. I adopted Jasper, my now 5-year-old hound/cattle dog mix as a three- month-old puppy. I had fallen instantly in love with Jasper and swore I would raise and train him as perfectly as I could. My previous dog (who had been my very first) turned out to be dog aggressive, people aggressive, a resource guarder, and developed a host of many behaviors that sometimes made life almost unbearable. I was looking forward to starting with a "blank slate". Jasper was a very happy and active puppy in the home. I began socializing him very early on, but I noticed that he did not love being pet by strangers. He also seemed on edge when people other than family members entered the house and would bark especially at our male visitors. As he grew and I started more leash walking around the neighborhood, I would let him greet other dogs and he always seemed happy to say hello. But gradually as he matured, he started reacting towards a handful of dogs and it just continued to escalate. He also continued to be uncomfortable with strangers and he was fearful of garbage trucks and landscapers. I went through several trainers and experienced various training methods in hopes that someone would be able to modify Jasper's fears and behaviors before they became severe. The trainer I was working with right before I met Anthony, had me walking Jasper on a prong collar and forcing him to meet "strangers" to help him "work through" his fears. I knew in my heart that this was not the way I wanted to educate my beloved dog. It pained me to feel I was putting Jasper in any kind of situation that made him feel threatened or uncomfortable. FINALLY I found Anthony and from the moment he walked in our house, my hope was restored. Anthony's entire approach was through kindness, positive reinforcement, and upbeat sessions. He spent a half an hour slowly bonding with Jasper and "reading" and accessing Jasper as an individual. He observed what made Jasper uncomfortable and just as importantly, identified his strengths. Anthony put together an entire program and plan of action for Jasper and me to work on. We practiced these more positive based approaches during walks and when people entered our home. The exercises were fun and upbeat and little by little, Jasper became increasingly more comfortable on leash and with all the "scary" things in his world that concerned him. What I especially love and appreciate about Anthony's practices is that he invests an incredible amount of time and focus on each of his client's individual cases. Even before we met him, Anthony sent us an "in-take" form that we filled out so he could have every detail about Jasper, his behaviors, his likes and dislikes, etc. After each session Anthony wrote up a detailed report reviewing the session, an in-depth evaluation and a detailed plan of action on how to move forward. I knew that Jasper and our family's progress really mattered to him. Jasper is now able to handle his fears and has become much more comfortable in all the situations that made him nervous. Anthony came highly recommended from a veterinary behaviorist in New York City. I have a young, out of control labradoodle with debilitating separation anxiety. When i got her, i was no longer able to go out for errands, dinner, or even go to work because she would bark constantly for 12 hours straight if i let her. I had to get a dog sitter five days a week (very expensive!) and felt trapped in my house because i knew whenever i left she would cry. Anthony gave us our lives back! After a few sessions with him, we learned how to deal with her separation anxiety, and counter condition her so that she's not triggered when we leave. Katie Cameron of De Marinis Dog Training & Behavior has been working with both my 6 month old Wheaten and I for the past 3 months. From our initial consultation I was very confident that Katie could provide me with the training and skills I wanted for my new puppy. She asked many questions to understand what I was looking to accomplish and provided a roadmap for trying to reach these goals. We met for an hour each week and Katie provided me with explanations and directions to accomplish the specific behaviors we wanted to work on. Anthony was absolutely great. I had an aggressive rescue dog that specifically had issues with men. Anthony had patience, compassion and the game plan for me and my family member to effectively work with my rescue dog. Although it did not make the changes with aggression, we were able to teach my rescue several things in the short time we had him. All in all Anthony's knowledge compassion information and willingness to deal with a hard rescue situation, makes me sure that when I get my next puppy, I will be using Anthony knowledge awareness and assistance. Anthony is a very talented trainer. My 2 year old bordoodle has severe anxiety issues. From Day 1, Anthony has been incredibly patient and helpful. He always lets Daisy go at her pace, never forcing her beyond what she is capable of during a particular session, and teaching me how to handle situations to help build her confidence. Our dog Shosh came back a happy and calm dog after an overnight stay with Gold Coast. She had a great experience and so did we.
