5-star food .... I don't think so. The restaurant is small. The tables are packed in tightly together. When we entered there was quite a crowd. The menu is on the wall. It is advisable to visit the restaurant's Facebook page before you go to the restaurant. It will save time and save your neck, from trying to read the menu that is mounted up on the wall. There are helpful pictures on one of the walls. Order and pay at the counter. The food is delivered to the table. My wife had the Chinese Chicken. Stewed chicken pieces smothered in a seasoned gravy over a big pile of rice with a little cabbage on the side. The gravy tasted like it may have been seasoned with Chinese Five Spice. The meat was good and it tasted fine, but overall boring and not recommended. I had the Super Bowl. All the meats on this bowl were good. Bright red Char siu style chicken, good tender beef slices, and excellent tempura fried shrimp. All stacked on a big pile of rice noodles with a few slices of cabbage on the side. The noodles were in a sweet brown sauce that I didn't care for. The fried shrimp is delicious and recommended. The food is not impressive enough to get me back in the restaurant or even recommend it over some of the other excellent Asian restaurants In Ft. Smith. Diamond Head 2, a version of average Chinese food. Then there are these repurposed flip top Parmesan cheese containers (think Kraft Parmesan cheese bottles.) There are one or two of them on every table filled with a nasty looking sauce concoction. The top of the bottles are open, and they have a spoon stuck in them to serve yourself up whatever that is inside. You would have to be a brave soul to actually use the sauce. I'm surprised this gets past the health department. read more

Driving from Tulsa to Memphis and found this place on the way back. I am so glad I picked it! Got the Super Bowl, egg roll and wonton soup. Egg roll was fine but, wonton soup was a bit odd because the wontons are fried but the broth was very good. The star was the Super Bowl. Roasted chicken, fried shrimp and some braised beef on top of noodles, onions and cabbage. Seems to me like home cooking and it was delicious! I will try to stop in every time I come through town. Fort Smith is super lucky to have this place and I would love to have it in Memphis. read more

Look, I could complain about the menu with names that mostly have nothing to do with what you get so you need a tour guide to know what to order, or the way Tan likes to charge random prices when you get to the register, but no one is gonna care because this place is a local legend and the food is that good. It's part of the experience. I'll make it easy for you. Drunken chicken/salmon or whatever you want with rice. Pay whatever the colonel wants. If you want something different... cheeseburger. Just trust me. It's not a cheeseburger at all. lol. You will love it though. Tan might even sit at your table and make fun of you and tell you gruesome bloody stories about the war or complain about who knows what but it is all part of the experience. If he puts a bib on you it means you are now family. He may even give you a nickname. read more

This place was already busy a little bit after they opened. My friend recommended the drunken chicken and it did not disappoint, however it is a little sweet. You order as soon as you go in and then you can sit wherever you want. Prices are very reasonable. read more

Diamond Head Restaurant 2 - Drunken chicken - Chinese Near Me - Fort Smith, Arkansas

Cheaters! I ordered sweet and sour chicken lunch special for $5.99 They tried to charge me $8.11 When I pointed out the error they claimed it was tax. I said that's $2.12 in tax which is incorrect. They kept claiming to be right so I left. read more

Favorite spot as a kid. Still good food and good service. I get the fried rice and egg rolls. The wings are also good. I get the food to go so I can't speak to the dine-in experience. read more

Love this place! In business for 3 decades. Tan and his family will take care of you. Get the "bowl"

One of the secret gems of Arkansas. Tan and his family make all of the food fresh. Atmosphere is down to earth. Lemongrass chicken and Wino plates are spectacular, but the best is if you tell them what type of meats and flavors you like and they make something from scratch. Legendary. read more

I have not eaten here in several years. But I will not make the mistake again!! I went by there today and had the chicken and chicken bowl with rice instead of noodles and it was AMAZING!! read more

I grew up eating at this Diamond Head aka Tan's. It was our weekly treat. I live in California now but I make a special visit every time I'm in town visiting family. Very great every time. The egg rolls are amazing! The Ricky chicken is even better. My go to is the sweet and sour chicken. Egg drop soup is a must! Best Chinese food in the 479. read more

Amazing food! Wino for the win! Friendly staff, just a hole in the wall that will keep you coming back

The food was delicious and the owner so nice! We told him it was our first time and he helped us with our order. My boys loved the Pho and me and my husband enjoyed the Drunken shrimp and Ricky chicken. read more

From the outside I would have never gone in here. Had a business lunch and some wanted to go there. So I went as well. It was fabulous!! I didn't know what to order the owner saw that I had no clue what to get and he asked if I wanted "The Bowl". So without knowing what else to get I said yes. He gave mean eggroll and sent me to my table. The eggroll was very good . But when "The Bowl" was brought out. I soon forgot about how good the eggroll was. It had noodles, cabbage, beef, chicken and shrimp, with a sweet sauce on it. One of the best stand alone dishes I have ever eaten at a Chinese restaurant. A must try if you are in the area. read more

I would give 6 stars if I could! Diamond Head is LEGIT awesome food. And I can tend to be a little overly-critical of food. But THIS is perfection. The Ricky Chicken is, hands down, my favorite! The crispy chicken, the gravy, the rice . You won't regret it, trust me read more

Good food I recommend the bowl and try there egg rolls and spring rolls and fried wong tong

This is a place that you do not order off of the menu. You walk in, tell the owner, whose name is Tan by the way, that you've never been. Tell him what you like- -and he will make that for you. I wasn't exactly mentally prepared for all that, so I didn't have time to think and process maybe what I wanted. I ended up with drunken shrimp. Basically fried shrimp and vegetables over a saucy rice cooked in a metal bowl. It was delicious, but I probably would not order that again. Next time I will be much more specific and thought through on what I truly want. The owner is so friendly and knows all of his regulars by name. Looking forward to going back. read more

Can't go wrong with Diamond Head. There is something here for everyone. Tan, the owner, will make sure whatever you order is something you'll enjoy. Pictures on the wall of various dishes. Top favorites are the Drunken Shrimp, John Johnson and Bomb Squad read more

This is some of the best food I've had. Diamond Head is delicious. From the egg rolls to the shrimp dumplings, everything was great. If you haven't tried this place yet you need to. The owner is very nice and he will help you figure out what you'll love most on the menu. Make sure to try the spicy mustard - it's got a great kick. read more

The BEST Vietnamese food ever! Tan (owner) is friendly and will order you the best dish. FYI- if you order noodles expect a bib for eating

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and we are still going. We love there Beef and Chinese vegetables and egg rolls and won ton soup. I use to go there when they were across the street, our daughter was young and so we're their kids too. Tan and his family are wonderful people and they serve the best food. When we eat Chinese food it is always there at Diamond Head, love their food. I gave them a 5 because that was all the stars they had, if they had more I would have given them more. We are the Sanders family from Ok. read more

I've been addicted to this place for years. I go into withdrawals if I don't get to eat here often. Others are correct that you might not give it a second look as you drive by, but eat here once and you WILL come back. While you can get many of the traditional Asian dishes, branch out and try one of the special house meals. Many dishes have names of customers that have ask for something special and it became a favorite for many others. Here are a few of my favorites. Spicy Beef Supreme (AKA the Bowl), Super Bowl, John Johnson, hot chicken, hot beef, lemon grass beef, Colonel Tan chicken, Miller bomb squad, Hangover soup, Diamond Head soup. And, you must have an egg roll (or 2). They are absolutely the best. Get to know the owner, Tan. He will never forget your name and your favorite meals. He's always anxious to tell you about how he came to the U.S. from Vietnam and made a life for he and his family with hard work and the American dream. He is quite a character. read more

I didn't know what to order so I asked the owner if he recommended any particular item. He a few questions about what I liked then he said okay I'll take care of it. It turned to be drunken chicken and it was delicious. My daughter got pho and it was equally delicious. Great experience, service was top notch. Highly recommend. read more

the quality of food is way down , last 2 times I picked up take out I did not like the food that I have gotten for years , I will cross it off my list because rice bowl food is better , hard to believe as they were so good before , I am sad we have lost a good place to eat that has been a go to for well over 30 years read more

I am so very disappointed in the way our food looked and tasted. We spent over $80 in the drive thru. I was awful! When my husband called to talk to him about it, he told us to make more babies, laughed and hung up! read more

I'm in Fort Smith on business trip. Definitely not a place I would have chosen on my own. I chose it based on reviews here. I was not disappointed. Based on comments here, we got the Wino and Bomb Squad, eggrolls, and crab rangoon. All very, very good! Owner was super friendly! Highly recommend. read more

I give 5 stars only because there aren't more. I have not gotten anything here that wasn't delicious. The drunken salmon is my favorite. If I am within a hundred miles I am going to stop here to eat. read more

Passing thru town & read the yelp reviews so decided to give its try. Food is excellent & made to order. They'll customize any way you want. I asked for lighter sauce with less sodium & light garlic. Hubs had 'The Bomb' extra spicy. Both were very fresh tasty. Egg roll too. White, Brown, or fried- rice. It's a hole in the wall inside but is clean. The outside doesn't look too good either. Not somewhere I'd stop without the yelp reviews- but well with it. But you'll notice nice cars in the parking lot. They've been at it over 30yrs in Ft. Smith. A family run biz. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in town! The Bomb, Wino, Bowl...all favs. Love their eggrolls, too!

I've been eating here for 20 years now and this place is so good. I've never had a dish that I didn't like. If you have never eaten here do yourself a favor and order the Super Bowl. read more

This is probably not a place someone would pick, unless you know how GREAT the food here is!!! It could be on a dive show, but it has been here for many years and locals know not to judge this book by it's cover! My husband always gets the Drunken Salmon and I always get the Drunken Shrimp on Tofu noodles or rice, either way is fabulous!! These dishes come in a metal crock that is hot and keeps the food hot as well. The sauce that is over this dish caramelizes on the sides and adds even more flavor! These two dishes are really like nothing we have ever had anywhere else and are incredible! The owner is so friendly and sits to eat his lunch with his customers at a large table and even shares his dish with you sometimes! read more

Delicious food, friendly owners and staff. It may look rough on the outside, but it is a warm friendly place inside. Get the egg rolls!
