This is one of my go to places for my foot-long hot dog fix, the other is in Delaware. Can't seem to find too many in Florida, unless you hit a Sonic. This is a seasonal business and open during summer months. Today was Sunday and it had good crowd. Ordering was quick easy however it was still a wait till my order was called, but expected for the amount of people there, tells you something. I got the foot-long with cheese, relish and raw onions...shoe string fries as well. When my order was called I came to the window paid and picked up. Found an empty table to occupy and began my feast. This is the total package when it comes to foot-longs. The rolls used are made locally and I believe the dogs are Dietz and Watsons and done on a flat top, not boiled. Can't get any better than this. Another road-side food shack under my belt. Peace.

Seagrave's has been feeding me and the good people of Salem with more care than many of us probably deserve. I have sung in a church nearby on occasion for nearly 30 years now and whenever Seagrave's caters our lunches the world feels a little less cruel. A great sub can do that. A cheesesteak even more so. The bread has the right balance of chew and give. The meat is tender and unapologetically plentiful. A sandwich from Seagrave's is not a snack. It is a declaration. You will be full and you will be happy about it. The subs are delicious and reliable, like an old friend who always shows up. The cheesesteaks are even better. Whoever decided that much beef and that much cheese should share the same roll should be awarded a medal. For half a century or more the Seagrave family made this little white concrete box on West Broadway into one of the best reasons to stop in Salem. Now it is under new management. You may worry that something this good could slip away. Do not worry. The family is still watching and still guiding and based on my most recent meal the sandwiches are as tremendous as ever. The building itself looks like nothing much. For years there was not even a sign. You had to know where to go and if you were lucky enough to know you went. Word of mouth was more than enough advertising because food like this does its own talking. So here is the advice. Put Seagrave's into your GPS. Park outside the plain white building. Step inside. Order a sub or better yet a cheesesteak. Watch them pile it high and then take the whole glorious thing back to your house or your car or your church hall. Take a bite. Life will not be perfect but it will be slightly better. Five stars. Always has been. Always will be.

Ok, it looks a little worn but in the same moment you are transported back in time to an era where diners like this one could be found everywhere. Walking up you spot the music machines in each booth that once upon a time were connected to juke boxes . As you walk in you feel the comfort of a diner and the waitress calls out a welcome ... 'sit anywhere' and we choose a window booth. It's a classic diner menu with a printed sheet of specials at unbelievable prices. A couple of soup options so it was classic choices ... a mushroom cheeseburger that the owner will slap on the griddle and a tuna melt. The conversation with the waitress was non-stop (it was 230 and at first no one else was eating. It was a fun diner experience! Food was delivered hot ... another customer so the waitress went back to work. A great lunch! Fries were perfect and the burger juicy and flavorable!! Tuna melt perfect .. The rest rooms reminded us of being on a train in the 1950's! There's not much to Salem New Jersey but there is one awesome diner serving great food!!

I gave them $10,000 in cash because they promised they would do a job for me. They did not. Instead, after taking my money, they sold their big house, disconnected their phone, and left for the state of Florida in an RV. I was left trying to figure out what happened to the money I worked hard for. What makes this hurt even more is the trust I placed in them. They presented themselves as Christians and people of integrity. I took them at their word. Unfortunately, their actions have left me questioning whether those words meant anything at all. I am a veteran, and I know what trust, honor, and keeping your word are supposed to mean. This post is a warning: Please be extremely careful before doing business with these people. I trusted them. It cost me $10,000. I'm not posting this because I want sympathy. I'm posting it because I don't want someone else to make the same mistake I did. DO NOT LOAN THEM MONEY.
