Orlando definitely lacks good venue rental options for larger events, so I'm happy to see this new option. It's located right in front of the Florida Mall, so there was plenty of parking, but they also offered a valet service which was very helpful. I like that it is a 2-floor open concept so you still feel connected to what's happening downstairs, but you're able to break up the crowd a bit. I believe there were about 400 people in attendance and it never felt overly congested. I can definitely see this becoming a popular wedding and party venue and there are so many ways to get creative with the space and tailor it to your individualized needs. I added the listing to Yelp since they weren't on here yet (in the hopes of helping more people discover this space), so the photos are from their website.

Tonight, I attended a football banquet at the Royal Crest Room and it was everything that I remembered it being. The reception room had beautiful white drapery and a hanging chandelier, the tables were spaced nicely around the room all with formal dining wear and chargers. The servers were very quiet and respectful during the event, and wore all black head to toe, including gloves while serving food. They moved around in a very smooth pattern and flow of the room. They were professionals. My only complaint is the bathrooms are single stalls.

We decided on a Bridgerton themed wedding and the Magnolia Garden and cocktail hour space were the perfect vibe. The venue allowed us to have a horse and carriage on the tee box right next to the cocktail hour space, and the reception room with the included draping and chandeliers were perfect. Also, probably most importantly, the team made us feel wanted and loved. As a LGBT couple, we were worried that it would be difficult to find a venue and vendor team that made us feel just as comfortable as any other couple, but they exceeded our expectations. They made accommodations for us to use both locker rooms as bridal suites, ensured we were always comfortable with all of the decisions, and even let us do a re-tasting to ensure we were 100% satisfied with our dinner menu. Our guests absolutely RAVED about the bar service and service of the venue staff. Everything was perfect - so much so that MANY of our guests have asked us to throw anniversary parties here every year. The Royal Crest Room team was also incredibly responsive and flexible when communicating any questions or concerns, worked with us when we had a payment due but we were traveling internationally, and immediately corrected an issue with our sand ceremony equipment. We could not have asked for a better team for our special day and their preferred vendors list will help with any other special touches you want to add! We used many from that list and it was such a vibe when all our vendors knew each other or had worked together before, making the day flow smoothly. Highly recommend!!!

Cracked floor tiles spanning entire venue, gum-stained carpet and dance floor, energency exit obstructed by curtains, and cracked glass railings. Planned to have our wedding reception here. Owner made false promises to us to complete repairs, so we would sign a contract and pay him money. Now refuses to complete. Originally shared 2nd floor could accomodate 400 guests, despite fire safety plan stating 260. After bringing this to attention of venue, now claiming they never stated this, despite multiple witnesses and written confirmation. Originally, told us they would provide a seating arrangement, now refusing to provide this stating this is our responsibility to create for their venue. Refuse to provide a to-scale floor plan, for us to even attempt this. Originally told us insurance was included with our event, now stating we are liable for purchasing. Recommend all to avoid this venue. They have made planning our wedding a nightmare and expect us to pay additional funds to cancel our event, despite a void contract and venue's inability to meet expectations. There is ample parking. The meeting spaces are clean and well maintained. The A/V equipment worked well and there were ample power plugs. The wifi was good but unsecured. Bathrooms were plenty and constantly cleaned. The food was really a cut above. Breakfast had fresh fruit, hot items and bakery/ cereal items. The coffee and tea flowed freely. Lunches seemed to have had nutritionist input and careful thought to include heathy fresh veggies, vegetarian options, and gluten free options, with labels on each dish, and staff available for questions. Desserts were lovely and snacks at breaks were interesting and varied (see churro comment above). The venue is adjacent to the Boardwalk Inn and the boardwalk itself, which is a nice place to walk and boasts many dining/entertainment venues. Hope I can return!

4 Stars for possibly the oddest DIY event space / living space / arts space I've ever encountered…read more "Welcome. You are here. It is now." -- The words painted on the stairs leading to this magical place. How can I not be a fan of The Space? This DIY venue, with no signage, located above Anthony's Pizza in Mills 50 is just so crazy that it makes me want more. They host a bunch of odd/quirky/artistic events including Literocalypse (a monthly reading series featuring local writers), figure drawing art sessions, crazy dance parties (ex: SPACE-FEST), nude yoga, zine-release parties, musicians from all around, etc. Park behind Anthony's and walk up the stairs to find fantastically decorated hallways (sheets, sheets, and more sheets!) in what I imagine used to be a regular apartment. I went for Literocalypse one night and found myself wandering the apartment between readings. It seemed like people lived there- the kitchen looked like I had stocked it in my early college days and there were some homemade brownies sitting there, tempting anyone brave enough to take one. Their website, though minimal, hints to the goals of this place with a simple message at the top: "culture. expression. collaboration. education. inspiration. community. progress." It seems you can rent the space for events or to live there- "rental rates are flexible and donation based." I dig that they have a calendar of events that seems to be kept up to date. Unfortunately, I've heard that they've recently been throwing shows and events to raise money to save The Space and I hear that the actual physical space is for sale, but hopefully with the support of the arts community it will remain in its current iteration or another. In the end, Orlando is better for having these types of unique, non-judgemental venues for young artists to explore themselves and for us less artistic folks to enjoy something very real and untainted. And yes, I hear the dance parties are pretty freaking nuts (and hot, with only window AC units).

I've had the pleasure of attending a yoga event as well as a salsa event at The Balcony and both times I left wanting to figure out an event to host at this beautiful site. Though getting in to the building and up to the right floor is a bit of a process, the view that awaits is worth every head scratch. This is truly a Balcony, but much larger than you'd imagine. They've used the space for cocktail parties, seated dinners, weddings, fitness events, and I imagine a photo shoot or two. The space is available for rent, and I've made a point to take a tour (which you can schedule any time) to check it out when they didn't have an active event happening. The indoor space you'd walk thru for The Balcony is actually a marketing agency. I haven't been in several months, but it doesn't seem to provide a lot of weather backup space, so one thing to note. Then again, this place is so unique, you'll be convinced to cross your fingers and pray for clear skies!

One tip: make sure you know whether you're supposed to be at the North or South Concourse before you arrive. If you enter on the wrong side, you'll have quite a walk. Parking was $20 per day when we purchased all four days at once. Otherwise, it would have been $26 per day. Every time you enter or exit the parking lot, you'll need to show your parking pass so it can be scanned. The convention center itself is enormous but very clean. Both the North and South sides had food and beverage vendors, although I thought the South Concourse had the better selection this year, including Starbucks, Cuban coffee, and even a vendor handing out free protein bars. The restrooms were consistently clean, which is always appreciated during a long tournament. One thing that really stood out was the excellent lost and found system. I accidentally left my Nordstrom credit card in a restroom. When I went to Lost & Found, a sign directed anyone looking for a wallet or credit card to the Championship Desk. Sure enough, they had my card. I had already canceled it, but it was reassuring to know that someone had turned it in. It's nice to see honesty still exists. A few tips for first-time visitors: The playing areas can get incredibly loud, so bring headphones or ear protection if you're sensitive to noise. Keep your head up! Volleyballs can come flying off the courts. I actually got hit once--not too hard, thankfully--but it definitely happens. There are floor maps available, which are helpful, but it's best to know your court assignment before arriving. Security is efficient. You'll pass through an electronic scanner, and security may ask to look inside your bag (even my clear bag was briefly checked). One of my favorite improvements from previous years is that you can upload a selfie to your entrance pass ahead of time. That way, you don't have to show your driver's license every time you enter. Despite the size of the venue, it was clean, organized, and well-equipped to host a tournament of this scale. I know this is a very difficult feat to handle so kudos to them! I didn't like how dark the areas were on the playing floor if you decided to get coffee or food there - way too dark or depressing! Add nice light there like you do on the floor where all of the vendor carts are!
