Zero stars! To say that I am frustrated is the understatement of the year! I booked a 2-month…read moremidsize SUV rental through Orbitz and picked it up at this location. First I was greeted by a maskless employee who offered me a Jeep Compass with a terrible cigarette smell and burn marks inside of it as well as crushed chips on the floor, major body damage on the back passenger door and warning lights on the dash saying it needed an oil change and that the airbag was disabled. The only other car available was another Jeep Compass that had an almost dead key fob. There were no batteries available, so an employee from another Budget location brought a new battery nearly 45 minutes later, and that turned out to be completely dead. I asked if the man helping me could swap batteries with the other Jeep's key fob, and that worked. The second car was in better shape but had not been sanitized at all. There was trash, crumbs and dirt all over the floors and trunk, and most the windows had smears and handprints all over them. The outside was also filthy. I took the car because there were no others available and I had already waited over an hour. I immediately brought it to a car wash to vacuum the inside, clean the outside and sanitize all the surfaces (all on my dime). Definitely not how I should have to start off my expensive 2 month rental! Flash forward a couple weeks...I am in upstate NY skiing and the windshield wiper fluid reservoir is bone dry, so I stop to buy a container to fill it. Despite doing this, that function on the car does not work and I almost get in an accident because my vision is impaired. Then the climate control screen and music volume starts going haywire whenever I start the car in the cold. It continues doing this for at least 20 minutes while I try to drive. Seriously not okay! Then to top things off, the rental company never gave me an ice scraper/broom, so I have to remove any snow with my hands or buy one myself. Did I mention that I have this car for another month and a half??? Thanks Budget! WTF!?!?

I had to wait for an hour and a half (even though I had made a reservation, good luck with that!) and watched him talk down to every single renter the entire time I was waiting. His default mode is to be extremely rude and try to make you angry before you can even ask your first question...it was painful to watch and even more painful to experience. He should be NOWHERE near any sort of customer-facing job. I get it's tough being underpaid and dealing with lots of moving parts with Uber x Hertz, but this guy's default demeanor single-handedly ensured I'll avoid Hertz as a company nationwide/worldwide at all costs going forward. Beyond that awful dude, they rented me a car that wasn't eligible for Uber but it took them two days to figure out that was their fault and then had me drive back to swap it out for a car that had *many* problems, including a key fob that only worked sometimes causing me to be locked out of the vehicle and unable to use it multiple times. Hertz corporate issued a partial refund but I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever go to this place again.
