Kelly, I have no clue who you are, but assume that you're a friend of the Yetters considering the only reviews you've written have been to defend them, which is all well and good. I would defend any of my friends the same way. But since you have no idea what actually happened when I was there, or how much we spent on the ring- which was certainly not $70 ($70 was the cost of the head only, which holds the diamond), your comments aren't really helping. Either he put you up to this, or the company he keeps are equally as rude and condescending as he is. I'm sure Joe has had many very satisfied customers, my Dad and my husband being two of them prior to this incident; however, I think the measure of a business also comes from how it handles customer complaints. In the case of Diamond Direct, I was mocked and told it was my fault. No, I'm not from Newport Beach and I didn't buy a Polanti watch and two diamond necklaces, Kelly. You can scoff at what you thought my husband paid for my jewelry, but my point is this: To keep customers and attract new ones, you need to treat them with basic levels of respect. I visited Diamond Direct because I wanted a plain, thicker setting for my engagement ring. They really had no selection to choose from, and it felt like I was speaking a foreign language to them. They then had me look through a catalog to make a selection instead. Who is going to buy fine jewelry from a catalog?? Not me. But even if I wanted to they said they would call me back to give me a quote - it's been a week and I haven't received any phone call back. I thought it was also weird that the manager was conducting a business transaction with a diamond dealer out in the open and not in the office. The dealer even said, "I'm not comfortable with this cash with HER here." Not sure if it was his attempt at humor, but it was definitely not professional by any means. I came in to get a ring sized (made smaller) and Diamond Direct was the only jeweler that was able to do it the same day. Everyone else quoted 4-5 days for sizing. I paid $35 which is reasonable. Ok- I inherited my Grandmother's ring and I found a men's ring in a parking lot (missing some stones & probably run over but still a decent random find). When my man started talking about rings, he knew it would mean a lot to me to incorporate some of my grandmother's diamonds into a new setting. We went to the Jewelry Exchange in Tustin (I used to work there) and they didn't have any emerald cut anything for me to try on! When we stopped at Diamond Direct, we were greeted warmly and Rameez was phenomenal! He educated us on our options, didn't talk down to us when we were obviously clueless on the process, and walked us through everything step by step. He let me try on different shapes to ensure I was going to be happy down the line. They bought the scrap metal and diamonds I wasn't using. The checkout process was easy and they took my email address for future communications. Because this was a special order, 2 weeks later they called me to say they just emailed me digital sketch photos to review. They were exactly what I asked for. I emailed back immediately that I approved and to please proceed. Exactly 4 weeks after the purchase date, we picked up my ring last night. Brea Diamond Direct is wonderful! My finace purchased an engagement ring for me (somewhere else) that I somehow severely bent one of the prongs of the setting on. We took it to a few jewelers that told us that we shouldn't even bother fixing the setting and we should just purchase a new ring....this seemed ridiculous to me. We also wanted to have a wedding band made to go with the engagement ring and other vendors that we spoke to wanted to charge us hundreds just to make a wax mold of my ring so they could create the band for us. We had been to Brea Diamond Direct before but they are a bit out of the way for us, but they were so friendly that we made the drive out to see what they could do for us. Without a pause they told us that they could fix the setting for us. They also told us that they could easily take a mold of my ring to sculpt my wedding band from. Our First experience with Diamond Direct was in 2005 or so. We were in the Market for a new larger diamond for my wife. We were looking in the 3 CT range. After visiting NUMEROUS jewelers in the area and not seeing anything in our CT range we came across Diamond Direct. Joe immediately understood our frustration and took the time to explain the WHOLE process to us. Because of the Diamond size we were looking at most jewelers did not keep inventory. Virtually ALL of the prior jewelers we spoke to told us that we would have to make a large down payment for a diamond that size before they would even order it in. Joe not only did not need a down payment he would order in a selection we could pick the one we wanted and he would ship the rest back. NO CHARGE!!! Joe looked right at us and said "Let me get your diamond for you" That statement has led to a long and beneficial relationship for all of us. Needless to say we purchased our diamond from Joe and could not have been happier with the purchase. Joe made us feel comfortable and right at home. Joe and his team take EXCELLENT care of us every time we go in and I am confident that when I make a purchase I am getting the absolutely best deal. She didn't want to make any changes to it but was sure the dales person at the store would try and pressure her to resize it, Joe did not do that.
