I love coming to Diamond Bar Smiles! My kids and I have been coming here for over 10 years. Because of their experienced and welcoming staff, we won't go anywhere else: Lisa and the front office staff are always extremely helpful at keeping me aligned with my busy schedule and upcoming appointments and reminders. They're even willing to work with me if I need flexible payment arrangements. Jorge Carlos, the X-ray technician, is professional, but also personable and funny which is important in making me feel welcomed right away and puts my nerves at ease right off the bat. I can't say enough about this guy! They gave me a quote for over 9,000 for deep cleaning and three cavities. Pushed for me to sign up for their dental insurance so I can get deep discount which was 3500. Also after the exam, they gave me a discount cash price for 5800$ without insurance. Now, I get a second quote from another dentist and I only have 2 cavities and do not need deep cleaning. I said are you sure??? They said yes. I only have 2 cavities and do not need deep cleaning. A regular cleaning is what I needed. Grand total was less than 800$. Asked how much was deep cleaning and it was 600$. This dentist is a total fraud. read more

This place is a scam. I strongly advise everyone not to go here for treatment. I clearly told them I did not want to continue, yet they stopped answering my calls and were unwilling to issue a refund. They have a long-standing issue with overcharging and recommending unnecessary treatments. Even worse, they sometimes schedule appointments without your permission or add procedures without your knowledge or consent, just to charge you more money or ask more money from your insurance! I've been a patient here for a year and had a root canal with crown replacement in February. While that experience was all right (though thinking back maybe not? they documented the wrong tooth number leading to some confusion between root canal and crown), I don't think this is the dental office to stay with. I went in for a cleaning this afternoon (July). 30 minutes in the waiting room before being called in, got a polish, waited another long while for the hygienist, got the normal cleaning, asked to skip the deep cleaning. The hygienist then tells me to wait for the dentist to come by for an exam and then leaves...the office, as in, I heard him say his goodbyes to the front desk. I didn't think anything of it until 20 minutes later when Jorge (who is amazing, by the way) comes by and asks me if I was waiting for anything and he tells me the dentist wasn't coming since I wasn't due for an exam. SCAM ALERT! DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTISTRY! They are the worst dentistry I've ever experience!Many people complain about the front desk staff but they're only part of the problems. The priority of the dentists and staff there is not patients' health, it's money. They over book so when you get there at your appointment time, you could end up sitting at the waiting area for over an hour easily with no apologies. They would give you treatments you don't even need so they can charge you more. And the amount they charge you in the bill tend to be a lot higher than the amount you agreed on. Finally had enough and walked out today. It begins with the x-ray con. Always the x-rays. Even for a routine cleaning, they demand more radiation, as if your body exists only to feed their machines. Refuse, and the pressure begins, as if disobedience were a sin. Then comes the deep cleaning scam. Always the con. I have had periodontal surgery. My gums are healthy. Yet they circle me like vultures, whispering of urgency, inventing dangers, insisting I need endless scaling and root planing. A simple cleaning becomes a bill for thousands. It is not medicine. It is an extortion racket. (They are so greedy that one time they forgot I had periodontal surgery a few months earlier, yet STILL pushed me for a deep cleaning. Once they realized their mistake, they backed off.) And then the pain. Always the pain. The good hygienists (like Andrina) fled long ago. What remains are butchers. They carve, they gouge, they tear. When you flinch, they scold. When you bleed, they sneer. The last one, Shaun, inflicted such torment that I demanded the dentist (Dr. Chu) take over. When I recoiled from his cruelty, he shouted at me, enraged that his victim dared to resist. Imagine paying for the privilege of being brutalized and then rebuked for not suffering quietly enough. And then the betrayal. Always the betrayal. This is not dentistry. This is cruelty for profit, commerce disguised as care, greed with a drill. I was at the front talking about insurance coverage and the dental assistant was literally scrolling on his phone at the front desk. This office was my dentist for 10 years until I was laid off with no fault of my own. They refuse to take my insurance through Covered California though they will accept other employer plans under "CalDental" even Medicare. How is this fair? Every medical profession takes an Hippocratic oath to take anyone regardless of income and status. The office manager refused to give me their parent company and phone number. More importantly I have struggled with patience during teeth cleaning but get pestered on allegedly for me not doing my part of brushing my teeth daily. The WORST dental experience here. 1)Appointments was rescheduled twice because they told me the dentist leaves early. Each time notified me less than 1 week. Why schedule patients at the time there is no dentist. I understand if it happens once, but can't understand it happens twice in a row for the same appointment. I had to keep requesting time off from work!!! 2) front office called me at 1:15pm stated I have appointment at 1pm. Actually I booked 2pm appointment for 2 kids, it confirmed by text messages and email. Ended up can only bring 1 kid in and reschedule another appointment. 3) on the day of the appointment and arrived the office, front desk told me I need to pay $40 for cleaning and check up with insurance, which I never paid before and never changed insurance. I asked why I was not informed and why I didn't need to pay before. They said insurance change, but I never changed my insurance. 4) Force patients to get xray so they can get paid. If you refuse, they don't want to see you, or the Dr. Chiu gives you attitude. My kid had full mouth xray in a different office in a year, so I don't want her to get more X-rays. They requested me to show them the X-rays and I had to call the other office, luckily was able to show them. After the assistant polished teeth, she said we can leave, I asked "the doctor will not check her teeth?" She said doctor said you only wants polish teeth, do you want her to check her teeth? omg of course! Even if we don't want xray, I never said don't check her teeth. After another 15 minutes, Dr. Chiu came in, roughly looked at her teeth for 10 seconds, and told my kid "hurry up open big!" I was upset. She didn't say anything about her teeth, just said "all done". I asked her a couple of questions about her crown, she was not willing to answer me and gave me an attitude. I have never seen a doctor like this, very unprofessional, only thinks about money, not the patient, maybe just because we refused X-rays and they don't get paid more, she doesn't even want to look at you, then should not bill insurance for check up! First of all, this business is not honest. They do unnecessary treatments on patients. Deep clean every single visit? laser treatment every other visit? And unnecessary oral surgeries they try to talk patients into so that can charge more. I didn't realize how many unnecessary treatments I've had there over the years until I finally switched to another dentist and all of a sudden, my teeth are mostly good - not as bad as what diamond bar smile dentist told me at all! Basically every time you go there, they make sure you don't walk away without spending a couple hundred dollars minimum even after insurance. As a business, I understand revenue is everything. But as a dental clinic, patient health should be the top priority not the money. The front desk lady talked me into getting a credit card with "0 APR" so that they can give me an oral surgery that costs $1600+. The credit card was another scam, ended up having 32.99% APR - how wonderful. I'm considering suing them. it's a shame that diamond bar has this kind of business around. My dad was a patient of this dentist. He was recommended by the dentist here to extract all of his teeth and passed away 10 days later. I am not saying they caused my father's death but it's a very strange coincidence. The dentist staff allowed my dad to drive home after the procedure in immense pain. They did not give him a prescription ahead of time to ease the burden or pain until 4 hours after this procedure once I called. The front desk staff seemed so careless when I was trying to obtain the prescription or when I asked additional questions. I have never seen my dad in such pain! He could barely eat and the teeth they had given did not even fit for him. When I called the staff to get more information I was never returned a phone call. Why is it so hard to find a good dentist? The dentist who performed the work are great. It's the front desk receptionist that you are have be careful. They over charge and don't know what they are doing! The quote they gave me was expensive and I called my insurance. I had to go in and ask them to revised the quote based on what my insurance gave me. Super shady or they need to retrain them. While waiting for them to revised the quote, another customer came in for a regular cleaning. The receptionist was saying it would be $40. The lady just looked at her and said no. The reception was like okay, regular cleaning is $0 but if you wanted with fluoride cleaning it would be $40. That is when I knew I needed to look for another dentist. I needed my full mouth xray emailed to me so I can show to my new dentist. After 3 follow up phone calls with them to email me my xray they still didn't do it. Do not trust this establishment for an honest practice, and simply don't trust them to take care of your dental health. Or you could, and pay a stupid amount of money for something that would have been a fraction of what these people charge. And be lied to and pay for unnecessary things to be done on your teeth. Plus, whatever the "membrane" they charged, and put on my mom's tooth fell off after TWO days!!!!! Before the procedures, my mom advised the front desk that she has insurance. Multiple times the front desk simply said, "we can't find you in the system" despite the fact that my mom had her insurance card with her and everything (normally, any medical establishment will call the insurance company to confirm for the patient, this clinic doesn't even bother, because they know if my mom has insurance, it will be a different ball game for them. Perhaps, they won't be able to cheat the stupid amount of money out of my mom directly then). My mom expressed that it is too expensive for her to pay out of pocket for the whole thing they proposed, they then sold her some sort of payment plan to cover the exorbitant amount they charge for a simple tooth extraction. They did not explain to her which are covered, and which are not covered by insurance, and simply wanted her and can't wait for her to pay for EVERYTHING out of pocket (necessary and unnecessary items). I called this dental office multiple times afterwards advising them that I checked with the dental insurance, for my mom, and they said yes her insurance is fine, she has the insurance and the items are supposed to be covered, or from the looks of it, shouldn't be charged egregiously. The front desk always had some sort of excuses why they didn't call back, or why this has not been investigated and looked at. I had to call the insurance company to file a grievance. Mind you, that back and forth, it's a total 3-month ordeal dealing with this to get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile the credit card bill kept coming. In the end, my mom is entitled to $$$$ back, which was how much this dental office over charged her WITH insurance. Find another dental clinic and save yourself from these greedy and immoral people. Everyone was polite. However I received about 20 more x-rays than I needed. A single image needed to be repeated 4 or 5 times before it was acceptable. I am unsure if this was the technician's fault or if the X-ray machine was not working properly. Further, Dr. Tammi Chu said I needed a crown. When I sought a second opinion regarding this, the dentist (Dr. Lee) said the tooth was perfectly fine. Further, this second dentist said he worked there about four months and he intimated that he was very happy to leave. There is a push to schedule more appointments. They want you to make an appointment for some other procedure before you can get out the door and are still in your chair. I told several staff that I was changing dentists and leaving Diamond Bar Smiles because of the above mentioned reasons. However a year later I am still getting calls that a cleaning has been scheduled for me without my permission. There is pressure to get a deep cleaning at Diamond Bar Smiles which is not necessary and a money grab to get more money from my insurance company. I have never been to a dentist office with such a strong goal to make more money. It is very obvious and you will realize this in your first visit. This dental clinic is extremely unprofessional and overcharges. Every treatment room is filled with advertisements for white material crowns. For new patients, they repeatedly confirm that there are no fees but then perform a large number of X-rays, about 4-5 times more than my previous dentist. Regardless of the situation, they always recommend crowns. The quote is in the tens of thousands, and the unprofessional front desk told me that insurance would cover most of it. After I pointed it out, they changed their statement. They kept insisting it was free, but kept pushing for copays and also billed my insurance company. A complaint has already been filed. read more

Too good to be true? YES!). The bill had a pretty number of $510. I called Diamond Bar Smiles Dentistry to find out why in the world 2 fillings cost $510. Their response, "Oh you signed for 3 fillings. Yes it is $510." I guess that makes it better. Especially because that is the interest-free cost AND the cost after the in-office insurance of $96 / year. On a plus note, that shows how numbed out I was and how quickly the fillings were done. So far, my $59 teeth cleaning has turned out to be: $59 teeth cleaning $96 in office insurance $154 for a shot of something $510 for 3 fillings for a grand total of $819. This is why I don't like the dentist. It's not the physical pain, it's the emotional. Note: Take heed to the fine print attached to the $59 teeth cleaning offer -- "in absence of periodontal disease".
