I needed several procedures done, including cavity fillings, a Tier 2 deep cleaning, and a crown replacement, unfortunately due to a cavity underneath from my previous dentist. My husband and I had done many implants in this dental office 2017-2019. Implants supposed to be long lasting. One of the implants too small, from the starter, I let the doctor knew. Food stuck between the teeth constantly. Secondly, the gaps between the gums are getting bigger. Some of lenier (I hope my spelling is right) cracked after 4 months. I notified the doctor. Please avoid Walnut Family Dental. I came in for a regular cleaning, but was told l needed a deep cleaning instead. They claimed I had deep pockets with signs of gum disease. I thought, ok sure and tried for months to book the appointment, but was told they were still "working" with my insurance to get the claim through. I got tired of waiting, so I went to see another dentist. The new dentist said my gums were healthy and that the periodontal pocket test numbers were showing 2-3mm, which proved it. He also gave me a regular cleaning and said afterward my gums were not swollen or bleeding, which proved it even further. He said they probably tried to push the claim through to the insurance company and they were being denied which is why it was taking them so long to get it approved in the first place. I'm beginning to see these practitioners less like healthcare providers and more like dental corporations trying to upsell you for bigger margins. This was not written by AI. read more

Moved and asked around for dental office Recs in the area. A cousin told me she used to go here. Her old dentist had retired but she said the hygienist was thorough and she liked the other staff well enough. My old dentist was over an hr drive away and it just wasn't worth it anymore. This was a half hour away, which wasn't great, but a big improvement. I was so disappointed in the care here. I felt like they tried to scam me. I have not had a dental office before or since try to upcharge me like this one. The hygienist was nice and reported that my old cavity fillings were deteriorating. She showed me and it made sense since I got them filled over a decade ago. I had been brushing and flossing religiously due to Invisalign treatment I had started, and she recognized that my gum and teeth were in good shape. She was thorough with the cleaning and reported what she found to the dentist. So imagine my surprise when the dentist said I had two additional cavities in addition to needing to have my old cavities refilled. I had never felt any pain or discomfort in my teeth and have not had any issues with them since I was a child. She didn't show me where they were or anything on x rays. Just poked around a bit and decided apparently. She said she caught it early and pushed me to come back for the cleaning in the next few days. So I did. She didn't numb my mouth enough and it hurt during the procedure at times. Then she told me if I had any discomfort after 2 weeks, to let her know. As a result of the refillings and two extra fillings, my teeth were so sensitive to heat and cold! Like i mentioned before, i never had issues with tooth sensitivity before. So I went back. Was told I should use sensodyne on my Invisalign and leave it in where it's sensitive. So I tried it for two weeks. Went back and saw another dentist who was honest with me and shared that it could be that there were microbubbles from the filling since they have to make the hole bigger to refill and that they might have to redo it. He said there was also a chance that the tooth couldn't handle the trauma of getting so close to the nerve. I thanked him for his explanation. He shaved down the filling a bit and it improved slightly but not completely. I went back again to the original dentist who did the work. She insisted that there were no air pockets. She told me the discomfort was due to my Invisalign moving my teeth, prescribed me flouride toothpaste to leave on my trays. I asked if I should just wait until my Invisalign treatment was done in a year or so to come back and she said no, to come back in two weeks if I still felt discomfort. Went back again. It became abundantly clear she was not willing to redo the work or accept any potential responsibility and tried to get me to go back for some laser procedure, but I refused to spend another penny here! Glad I found an honest dentist elsewhere that didn't try to make me pay for ridiculous procedures. Complete waste of money and hours of time driving back and forth. Good, but jarring. Felt like growing up. The hygienists are thorough, careful and caring. They are best part of this office. The dentists are aggressive salesmen. They will spray air on your gums trying to get you to flinch. If you finch it's easier to sell you on getting fillers and crowns that no insurance will cover. They don't tell you that until the end but not until they sit you in a separate room. Theres a system designed toward a goal. But it's fine if you get to the end and you say no you're now a stronger person. Which is why I'm giving this place 5 stars. It's a great dichotomy of receiving excellent care and then resisting high pressure sales techniques. read more

During surgery, after anesthesia had been administered, the clinic unexpectedly stopped the procedure and demanded that we sign a new treatment plan that doubled the original cost. They refused to continue the surgery until we signed, leaving us with no choice under the circumstances. The situation was initiated by a staff member, a Mexican woman in a black shirt from the reception, who interrupted the medical team. Although she tried to explain that it wasn't their mistake, it was still unacceptable to force us into making such a decision during surgery. I felt completely taken advantage of, and this is not how any patient should be treated. I wish I could give 0 stars to this clinic instead of 1, which is the lowest option available. I LOVE my hygienist Monica!!! She does the best cleanings with the least amount of pain and she's super friendly. She's positive and encouraging even when I've been terrible at taking care of my teeth. While I have found the dental doctors in this office office to be exceptionally skilled and professional, my interactions with the administrative staff (front desk) have been quite disappointing. On several occasions, the front office staff have been both rude and it very helpful. I do not recommend. They prioritize profit over patients. I was new to the area and looking for a dentist close to me. Called here and they got me in the very next day for a consultation and cleaning. They did not do the cleaning and instead recommended a deep cleaning as well as some other things. First they made it seem as though I had good insurance (delta plus) then they proceeded to quote me an exorbitant amount of out of pocket expenses. I elected to only get the deep cleaning, which still had out of pocket expenses but it was doable. They did not seem to like the fact I turned down the other things they recommended. Anyways they were able to get me in the next day for the deep cleaning. Long story short they only did half of my mouth and said they would call me, when they had availability, to do the other side. It's been about three months now, and still not one phone call. They're able to get you in to try and get paid well enough but when it comes to patient care they're obviously not prioritizing that. Got my wisdom teeth extracted here and got nerve damage in my lip and chin. Now it's been 2 months and it still feels numb and gets a burning feeling sometimes. I also had headaches almost every day for the last 2 months on the same side with nerve damage and where I got 2 wisdom teeth removed. After-care is non existent. I called the dentist's office a week or so after the operation asking about numbness and headaches and the dentist would not speak to me. I only got to speak to the receptionist who suggested I wait and see if the nerve damage resolves on its own. I waited and called 2 months after the operation and was sent to voicemail, then left a message. One week later, no call back. Stay away. read more

If the dentists here tells you you need a deep cleaning, always get a opinion and here's why: I came in for a teeth cleaning, they made me sign a waiver and said "this is the only time we can do a teeth cleaning for you because you need a deep cleaning since you have bone loss". I wait for to see if my insurance to see if they'll cover it. They sent me a letter saying the request is DENIED because the records they recieved do not show bone loss. The decision is based on the clinical guidelines for periodontal services. So pretty much they lied to me, since their dentist told me I NEEDED deep cleaning while my insurance pretty much said the xrays don't show any bone loss. They'll also probably tell you that you have 5-7 cavities that needs to be taken care of, when in reality you might have none. What's the difference between what they're doing and robbing someone? Their whole motto is scam people into paying services they dont need by scaring them. I'll be reporting this to the better business bureau as well. read more

The office over charged me for the bill for about $1500. I went for a second opinion and reported back that half the items billed were not necessary and was billed $300. I've been coming to this office for over fifteen years. Of course there could be a few disappointments during that time, but overall they provided a 5 star service when it was owned by Dr. Diep and his wife. There was a personal touch and they provided high end technology. Dr. Diep also helped me out financially when I needed an expensive implant many years back when I was hesitant. However, ever since this practice was sold it's become more of an HMO feel. Theres been a noticeable change in staff and it feels less personable... and they don't even offer water anymore! Plus their scheduling system has been having inconsistencies and rescheduling is very challenging as they try to fully book several months out in advance. I kept driving 15 miles out of my way for my cleanings since a few hygienists stuck around, but after 3-4 cleanings I've decided to move on. I just don't get a sense that they are genuinely looking into my dental care and only use the 1 minute checkups after the cleaning to upsell products such as whitening and mouth guards. And to be honest, I don't even know the names of the doctors here even after the past 3-4 visits and I haven't received any treatments from them so I can't assess their abilities (I don't even think their website shows who they are and the Yelp profile hasn't been updated from Dr. Diep). It just feels like they are focusing on operational efficiency at this time. In my opinion they are just trying to sustain the old clientele, but you can see from recent reviews that the trend is going in a negative direction. I guess I'll be looking for a new practice. Recommendations in the north/central OC would be appreciated!!! read more

I had appointment with Dr. Kim yesterday and he was so gentle and professional. I had 2 shots in my gums but without any pain!!! he is so detailed and careful and he explained the process to me thoroughly. he helped me to fix my tooth in less than 30 minutes. And the staff called me (for follow up) and asked me how i feel today. I really appreciate that... great service. I also did invisalign and Dr. Diep and his team did an amazing job. normally i don't like any dental office, but i'm glad that there's a superb dental office nearby us. I highly recommend it. I've been to this dental office for a few months by now. The staff and the office are very nice but I don't know if everyone else has the same feelings as me, I get pressure every time I go. They either upsell me to get Invisalign, laser after deep cleaning and other services or products that are not covered by the insurance. If I said no they'll try to persuade me a couple more times, if I persist the staff will immediately intercom the front desk that "the client declined the service" in front of me, which makes me quite uncomfortable. Worst dentist I've actually ever been to. Brought my son in because his baby tooth was bothering him and I couldn't get a hold or his regular dentist. We were hoping they would just pull his tooth but instead I was told he had restricted breathing because his adenoids needed to be removed and he needed a pallet expander?? She of course referred us to her former teacher (orthodontist for the pallet expander) She sent in a prescription for antibiotics for his adenoids?? I left the appointment definitely concerned and made a specialist visit immediately to check his adenoids. I also never picked up the antibiotics, which I'm very glad about now. The doctor informed me that you cannot see adenoids with your eyes, you would need an X-ray to see. She also told me what she was looking at was his tonsils which are perfectly healthy & normal. I will be going to my orthodontist next week to see about the pallet expander but I'm pretty sure that's bogus as well. That dentist is dangerous prescribing antibiotics that aren't even needed. I'm getting married in November and I wanted to make sure my teeth were PERFECT for the wedding. I had braces throughout middle school, but like many others, I failed to wear my retainers ):. This caused some teeth to move around, primarily on the bottom and I was definitely starting to notice. My fiance mentioned he wanted to get Invisalign because he started to notice crowding on his bottom too, since he was doing it, I thought we might as well get them together. I went in for a free Invisalign consultation, where they scanned my teeth and a few weeks later I met with one of the Doctors to see a rendering of how my teeth will be moving. So cool! I went forward with the process and about six months later, I've finished all my trays and am now on retainers :). Throughout the entire process, I was very impressed with how high-tech and clean Dr. Diep's office is. Scheduling appointments was a breeze with the front-desk and I loved how I would get BOTH email and text reminders. In fact, I loved their office so much, I switched to PPO just so they could be my primary dentist. I am very pleased with how my teeth turned out after Invisalign and I'm glad I found a new dentist! In terms of the actual Invisalign treatment, I had a very enjoyable experience. Fortunately, my case was not as severe, which meant a shorter treatment period. I had no pain from my trays whatsoever, and now find myself brushing and flossing after EVERY meal out of habit because of Invisalign. Not going to lie, I hate going to the Dentist. But after 4 years of avoiding it, I have come to realize that adulting means taking care of your own health and your parents stop making appointments for you. First things first, the front desk women- AMAZING! Theyre super helpful and friendly. I recently fractured my arm so they were willing to help me with my paperworks and making sure I'm more than comfortable! They made sure I was covered through insurance before being seen and did not hide anything. As I waited and was brought back to the room, I noticed that everything(equipment) was up to date! Which was really surprising and eased my mind bc as a patient, I want the best technology to diagnose pain or current dental progression. Linda the dental assistant was such a sweetheart and was super friendly- it made conversations with her comfortable. Dr. Joyce- Super Hilarious!!! This is by far my favorite dental office. I had a root canal sometime last year right before my vacation, and this place was able to get me a permanent crown on the same day since they have the crown maker in the office, so I can pig out during my trips! They also accommodated me with discounts since my insurance allowance was maxed out. Will be back for future cleaning and exams!
