    a plate of dumplings
    S-Ann O.

I completely understand why Di Di Restuarant was given Yelp's Top 100 Award.  February 2022 was my first time at Di Di Restaurant as I craved an appetizer of shrimp dumplings. The hospitality provided by a female Di Di employee was beyond kind, generous, and compassionate (something missing in today's 2022 society). I was impressed by the dumplings taste that were fried to perfection and placed on a bed of shredded lettuce.  The shrimp dumplings looked as good as they tasted as they melted in your mouth!  Shrimps were seen and tasted throughout every dumpling bite. Although I requested and received hot oil as a condiment for the shrimp dumplings, Di Di Restaurant's "secret ingredient" dumpling sauce tasted even better than the hot oil.  With Di Di Restaurant passing the appetizer test with flying colors, I anxiously await to purchase and taste their shrimp and broccoli entree.

Was in the mood for Chinese food. Had my cravings half met with an order from Di Di's. I haven't had Di Di's in years. I honestly cannot remember what my experience was. Today's order had mixed reviews. Ordered: 4 Chicken wings and pork fried rice House special Lo mein Fried scallops The chicken wings and rice was very dry and the rice was hard. The taste was OK but the dryness made it a disappointment. The Lo mein and Scallops was very good. They are a maybe for me. If anything I will definitely order the Lo mein again however I know to stay away from their fried chicken and fried rice.

This is a great place to get a quick lunch near Brooklyn college if you are on the go. They have the usual Chinese takeout type of things on the menu but they also have a separate Tex mex menu. My favorite part of their menu is the extensive vegetarian section with all different options of vegetarian chicken and beef anyway that you would imagine it to be prepared just like the regular chicken and beef dishes. They also have a lighter healthy section for stuff prepared without too much sauce, not fried, and steamed vegetables . My only complaint is they have a small restaurant with only two tables so a lot of the times you'll have to take your food to go.

This is my boyfriend's favorite chinese takeout in Midwood. I prefer the one on the corner of Ave J because they are a few cents cheaper and they have the light pink bbq sauce I love. But Didi's does have nachos which I love. They are always friendly and willing to adjust the item a little to make me happy.

Great service. Got shrimps with broccoli in white sauce. Shrimps are pretty big for Chinese takeout. 2in in diameter. And cooked perfectly.

Sitting at the bar, it was only me one other patron and the bartender (with the host nearby). Had a great time talking, it was a slow day so we all really had a great time. I went with the white queso ($8) from the HH menu and then tried the fried cauliflower($9). They were good, breaded thickly with a great spicy sauce. All went great with a beer on tap, whatever was on HH that day.

Conveniently located near Union Square/14th Street on the Lexington Avenue Line, Javelina is fairly easy to get to from Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. The restaurant itself is downstairs from the street, but not quite a basement. There is a bar when you first enter on the left, and tables back to the kitchen. The space is usually quite loud, and it can be a bit cramped at times. Don't be surprised if you find yourself raising your voice a bit to keep up. Upon seating, you will (eventually) be offered chips and salsa, and someone will take your drink order. Things can take a bit of time here, especially at busy times, so do not expect the top tier of restaurant service by any stretch of the imagination. The menu features fajitas, and I cannot imagine ordering anything else. The queso is a lovely appetizer, though the trio feels a bit small for the price. If you order fajitas, you will notice another shortcoming of this restaurant, the tables can feel a bit cramped. This is something that comes with the territory in Manhattan dining but do not feel surprised if you end up having to rearrange things on your table to accommodate a delicious platter of sizzling fajitas. The fajitas themselves are fine, and probably the most consistent I've found here in the city. I would not be surprised if there were better places for fajitas elsewhere but in my research this seemed like the best option. Requests have been missed before in my experience (I recall ordering a certain salsa that never came) and because the waiters seem a bit overwhelmed, it hard to address it before you'd want to eat. Overall, this place will scratch the itch for fajitas, but the service is lacking. I'll probably find myself wanting fajitas again in the future and return, but every time I visit I find myself just a little bit disappointed that a good restaurant is not great.

Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we arrived early and Alejandra, the hostess, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Even though she was ready to seat us, we decided to hang at the bar until the rest of our party arrived and that was the perfect move. Alkarys behind the bar was top-tier. She recommended the Siempre Reposado, and let me tell you... smooth, clean, dangerously good. If you're into tequila, that's a must. Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the quesadilla, rajas, tamales, tacos, and the queso fundido and every single dish hit. The queso fundido came out bubbling, rich, perfectly melted with that pull you want when you scoop it up. The tamales were moist and packed with flavor, wrapped beautifully and clearly made with care. The rajas had that perfect balance of roasted pepper sweetness and savory depth. The tacos? Authentic, well-seasoned, and layered with flavor, no shortcuts. Even the quesadilla stood out, crispy on the outside with that perfectly melted interior. Everything felt traditional, elevated but still true to its roots. You can taste the authenticity. Service was attentive without being overbearing, the ambiance was super casual and laid back, the kind of Brooklyn spot you pull up to for a real dinner experience, not just a quick bite. Highly recommend this place if you're out and about in Brooklyn. Definitely coming back for the tequila, the queso fundido, and round two of those tacos. I'm gonna try eating at the bar to check out the spot in the front of the house.

3.5 stars My friends…read morehad been raving about Lobo for years. It was their neighborhood spot that they would frequent themselves, but also the place to which they would bring all of their guests. After turning down several opportunities to join them in the far off land of Brooklyn, I finally agreed to make the trek and give the restaurant a shot. The Cobble Hill area was really charming, and Lobo was located on one of the main streets that was packed with restaurants, coffeeshops, and small retailers. When I arrived at Lobo, I did not see my friends in the bar area on the ground floor and was told to check the back garden. I found my group out in the quiet, cozy yard and joined them at the spacious table. The weather was a bit chilly, especially as the night wore on, and it was even raining at one point. However, there was a covering that completely shielded us from the elements. In addition, despite our being outside, the friendly staff was diligent about checking in and making sure we had everything we needed. Since my companions had been at the table for a bit by the time I had arrived, they already had beverages in front of them, so I needed to catch up. I ordered a house Margarita without specifying a particular brand of tequila. Even with their default spirit, the drink was very strong. It also used their homemade sour mix, which was, thankfully, more sour than it was sweet. Our drinks paired nicely with the complementary, spectacular tortilla chips and zesty salsa. When it came to my meal, I was unsure of what to order, since the reviews had been very mixed, most either being 5-stars or 2-stars with comments about items being "bland". I decided to go with the grilled Chicken Fajitas, which arrived on a standard plate, rather than a sizzling platter. While that was not a great sign, the chicken actually wound up being enjoyable and certainly not bland. Plus, it was not at all greasy, like fajitas can often be. Accompanying the poultry strips on the plate were freshly sauteed onions and green peppers, a mound of seasoned rice, and smoky refried beans, which were all tasty. I typically prefer black beans, which were not an option here, but the refried worked out well. Separately, I received a container of flour tortillas (though I wished they had soft corn ones) and a plate with guacamole, pico de gallo, serrano peppers, lettuce, shredded cheese, and sour cream. I agreed with some other reviewers that the guacamole was more like mashed avocado, as it was very under-seasoned. The pico was also oddly sweet, and the tomatoes were mushy. Despite these minor critiques, I found that the food surpassed my expectations that had been established from other reviews. I would be willing to make the trip to Lobo again in the future. **Note: The restaurant is cash only!

The second time, we started off with a Cactus salad which feels like an underrated dish. It was a heaping pile of sauteed cactus and chopped jalapenos over what most would consider a generic salad. But you know what, I enjoyed that touch for the texture . The cactus itself was packed with flavor with nice heat from the jalapenos. For my entree was the chicken fried chicken, a chicken breast cutlet smothered in gravy. This cutlet is what got me to write a review. They basically nailed it with the interior super juicy. It comes with two sides. Aromatic rice and beans and collard greens that accentuated the floral notes of the greens. This may have been a 4 star review but the price to quality ratio and friendly staff is what inspired me to bump it up. Will put this place in my regular rotation.
