It's particularly maddening when the Metro Police kick everyone off and tell us to exit and catch a bus because no other lines operate at the Metro station.

Overall, I cannot complain too much with TAP Portugal service. Compared to other airlines, and for…read morethe needs of our trip, TAP Portugal was slightly cheaper than other commercial airlines. For our Iberian peninsula adventurers, we took advantage of the "free" 1-3 day layover deal in Lisbon on the way back to the States from Spain. The aircraft seats were fine with functional power outlets. Also, all the aircrafts on which we traveled were pretty clean (by airline standards). For all four of our flights, I thought the crew was very friendly. While the food for the trans-Atlantic flights wasn't great, it wasn't horrible. However, I do have a low bar for airplane food. Basically, the food is fine with me as long as I don't get sick, and TAP Portugal checked that box. Although (depending on your ticket) passengers are allowed two pieces of checked luggage, I was a bit annoyed that for our trans-Atlantic flights that it was highly suggested that we check one of our carry ons. I get this is more of an issue with the airline industry in general, because charging for checked luggage has resulted in more folks traveling with only a carry on. All said and done, I definitely would use TAP Portugal for my next Iberian pennisula adventure.

Comfortable flight to Lisbon…read more TAP literally provided us with a smooth transport by air to Portugal. This is a Star Alliance airline that offers direct flights to their central hub in Lisbon. Among our choice between TAP and AC, they came out on top for value of the flights. The planes were relatively new Airbus A330neo with decent entertainment and comfort. The highlight was the in-flight service. The cabin crew were consistently friendly and hospitable. For long haul, meals were served shortly after takeoff and a small breakfast was also served closer to landing in the 7-hour flight from Toronto. Premium meals were surprisingly flavourful created by local renowned chefs. Complimentary wine was served and we enjoyed the sweetest orange juice. Seafood stew included mussel, shrimp, scallop, served along with a buttery crab & shrimp salad starter. On the return flight, meagre fish fillet was flakey elevated by the sweet potato purée and the codfish salad starter was equally refreshing. The desserts featured a traditional trilogy of ice cream, fruit and cheese along with espresso and dark chocolate. Portuguese fruits tasted so ripe being sun-kissed in the region. We did carry-on only and avoided any potential with luggage issues that has been a complaint. I was initially asked to drop in the carry-on while printing the boarding pass. Everything was quite smooth otherwise. One drawback is the frequent bus gate which often took a while to depart. Skip it or hit it? We will consider TAP again if we fly to Portugal due to the good service and value.

But you get an ok view of the river and all the shops and people down below. There's no ac in the gondola. But they do open the windows, and depnding on which way your going, you get a nice breeze, or not. But it was nice just to have my wife and me in it. Its pretty quiet. It doesnt shake too much when its moving. Only on the landing part. Its a peaceful ride. Good views you wouldn't normally get if your just on the ground walking. But it basically goes up the side of the river and back. There's no views or anything at the other end. You can get off and walk around. But if not you basically stay on and go back to your starting point. No frills, no thrills. Takes about 10 or so minutes for the round trip ride. I do like the fact that the glass is not all tagged and scratched. And its clean. So the views out were really enjoyable and clear. A little fun side quest. Its over rather quickly. And its basically for the birds eye view of the area

We hopped onboard the third tram that came around as they have limited seating- about 20 seats. You can stand though. The ride was about 30 minutes and ended around Chiado. We were warned at our hotel about pickpockets here, they were hawkers offering us rides & things. We weaved past churches, shops, cafes, museums, lots of beautiful tiled buildings. The ride ended at a cemetery where we all disembarked and waited for an electric car back. I don't know what o was expecting, but it wasn't anything special.
