Totally over rated tram ride! Here are a few tips. - It costs €3. - Long line at M Moniz can be avoided by walking to the next stop or two. Or go in reverse from Baixa Chiado. - Tram can often get packed. So it's really hard to see much nor take pictures along the way. - If you really want to see the sights, best to just walk the route. - I could not figure out which 28 goes to the end and which only goes to Campo Ourique. The one I was on stopped at Campo so had to the Uber to the end. Bottom line, long wait, crowded, can't see much, totally not worth your time. If all you want is a ride on the unique Tram...take any of them....don't waste your time on this one.

This is a very cheap, easy way to get around Lisboa, but if you're looking forward to running into some charismatic locals, don't kid yourself, for you're more likely to run into someone from Cleveland than Lisbon. Yes, the locals tend to walk everywhere so these quaint trolleys are overloaded with sweaty tourists. However, just because it is popular with tourists, doesn't mean you shouldn't try it at least once. You really will feel as if you have stepped back in time on these antique trolley cars. Get a shot of yourself getting on or off the trolley and you have a great photo, providing you can get a friend to take a quick pic before the car rolls down the track...But then again, maybe you're rolling with a selfie stick.

Yep, it's a fun thing to do! Great alternative to the more formal Yellowbus tours even though you only see a portion of old Lisbon. And without narration! But if you have a 24 hr metro card there is no cost at all! And you can jump on and off as you wish! Suggestion: definitely catch it at Martim Moniz station (the start) even though you'll have to wait in line. We waited over half an hour but it was worth it!! Many great places to stop and check out the sites! You could spend the whole day exploring just the area covered by Tram 28! And plenty of spaces to stop for a beer and look over the river at incredible views. Oh, we did just that!! We loved the ride and yes, at times you wonder how it makes it through those narrow streets! Although we had many unplanned stops where people parked their cars on the trolley tracks and we had to wait for the idiot to come back and move. What's wrong with some people?? Definitely a must do in Lisbon!

If you're in Estrela, the tram runs every 15 minutes or so and picks you up right across from the Park or the Cathedral.

The tram ride from one end to the other takes 2:40 and climbs one of the steepest slopes in the city. It opened for passengers in 1892. What's interesting about this ride is that it is not an independent track. The path where the train rides is also open to vehicles and pedestrians. It is considered one of the most picturesque streets in Lisbon, if not Europe. The Elevador is operated by the same Carris that runs the subway, trams and buses. If you've bought a 24 hour pass, you can scan your Viagem card and it's included. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a ticket from the driver onboard - he takes cash. Try to sit in the front or the back for the best views! [Review 19025 overall - 221 in Portugal - 2549 of 2022.]

If you do plan to go to the market, I'd recommend combining the two in one trip since the elevador is not that close to the city centre. The yellow funicular is the most popular one in Lisbon because of the steep hills. Unfortunately, it wasn't running when we came by on a Saturday at around 2:30. Maybe it only runs on weekdays? Regardless of that fact, it's a cool place for some photo ops. This is where you see all of those Lisbon shots on Instagram. We didn't walk up the entire hill but it was a sight to see. We didn't have time to come back another day to see if the tram was running since our time in Lisbon was limited, but if this is a must-see for you, just be sure to budget enough time on your trip. You never know when it may be randomly closed.

Tickets are purchased on board and the driver was not only able to make change and provide my ticket, he was busy driving the bus at the time. That was impressive. The bus did have a wifi network but we're out in the sticks here in many cases on switchback roads in the mountains east of Lisbon. It didn't work very well so I switched to cellular. Other than that, it's a pretty standard city bus with 2x2 seating, hand grabs throughout and even USB chargers (through the one at my seat had been vandalized). The bus was clean and well lit. It kept to the schedule posted in the bus stop where I picked it up in Cascais and where I returned from Cabo da Roca. [Review 19047 overall - 241 in Portugal - 16 of 2023.]

Terrible experience - dishonest pricing and overcrowded buses…read more I took a Scotturb bus in Portugal and was extremely disappointed. The driver refused to sell the regular €4 ticket, insisting that I buy the 24h pass for €13.50. On their own website, this pass is listed at €12, but the price on the bus is made to look like a discount (they cross out €18 to make it seem like a deal -- it's not). To make things worse, the bus was completely packed, with people standing shoulder to shoulder for the entire ride. No comfort, no space, no respect for the advertised service. A tourist trap on wheels. Avoid if you can -- especially if you expect fair pricing and basic travel conditions.
