Alameda is one of the few stations of the network for transferring from one line to another. The station opened for the green line in June 1972 and was improved with the red line in 1998. The station has four tracks, each with side platforms. The doors open on the left side.
On the Linha Virde (green line), it is between Areeiro (toward Telheiras) and Arroios (toward Cais do Sodré). On the Linha Vermelha (red line), it is between Saldanha (toward São Sebastião) and Olaias (toward Aeroporto).
The station is handicapped accessible but at least one of the escalators was offline.
