Yum yum yum. Recently got takeaway from this spot and it was delicious. I wasn't too hungry, so I opted for the meat samosas and one of their chaats - I couldn't tell you which, as I asked for their recommendation. Both orders were delicious and made fresh. My family tried the butter chicken, the chicken tikka, and some various naans. The garlic naan was delish. We waited inside and had a drink while waiting for our takeaway food to be ready and, while a bit empty, they were playing great music and you could tell the employees were having a bit of fun dancing along. Typical neighborhood Indian restaurant. Clientele is are mainly locals. I had the chicken Masala and a garlic naan. I asked for spicy hot and it could have had a more spicy flavor but it was still very good. The naan fresh out of the oven and excellent. Service attentive and efficient. Would return. read more

My husband and I took the 1 hour 5 min transport ride from Lewisham/Greenwich to eat here. It was well-worth it! We had lovely food in a well-decorated place: loved the blue wall colours in the basement, the framed photos on the walls and the cracked glass. For two of us with nonalcoholic drinks and plenty of food (lots of leftovers), was £63. Their food options are enormous, including veggie choices I have not seen in any other Indian restaurant menus. I had a couple of dishes from the chaat section: the foxnut chaat, the bhalla khatori chaat and the tandoori veg momo dumplings. Warning the foxnut and bhalla khatori portions are HUGE. The foxnut is savoury, salty and addictive and the bhalla khatori yogurt sauce is DELICIOUS. I actually wish that came atop the foxnut chaat. I was so stuffed by the bhalla khatori I only had one veg momo dumpling but it was chewy and tasty, with some kick. I ordered jaljeera but wasn't a big fan. Whilst it's a mint drink it's savoury and spicy. My husband's mango lassi though has to be one of the best I've ever tasted. He agreed: it's rich and creamy. My husband said his chicken tikka masala was fine. I also wasn't impressed with the naan : not the most flavourful. Our waitress was lovely. My only caveat about the whole experience was how long our food took. A solid 20 minutes. So if you're going make sure you have plenty of time. read more

We did not have a reservation, but since it was a week night, they were able to serve us, We enjoyed chicken Masala and a vegetarian dish of black lentils, with a side of garlic naan. To drink, I enjoyed a glass of wine. The service was good which I always appreciate. It was more expensive than similar restaurants in London, but I would return. read more

Had been wanting to try this place out for awhile, but hadn't found my way to Maida Vale for a couple of months. When we were craving Indian chaat at home, I was really excited to see that they would deliver. Dhaba @ 49 is the REAL DEAL! Authentic North Indian food. Not Bangladeshi Indian, not British Indian, not Pakistani (my closest substitute), but honest to goodness North Indian food. I'd easily return to this restaurant, even if it was one of the many serving this cuisine in Delhi. The chaat was the best we have had in central London. Ragda tikki/patties, papdi chaat and pani puri / gol gappe. All were bang on the flavour. They packed the components individually, so they could be assembled at home. The patties lost a bit of the crispness due to being steamed in the shut box, but I'm sure it would be perfect when eating in. The paneer could have been a tad softer, but sometimes a tandoor can tend to dry it out a bit, so I'll reserve judgement on the texture. The flavour however was very good. Properly marinated paneer tikka. I wasn't sure what to expect with the dhabha roti, and was pleasantly surprised with the light, crisp flavoured roti. Somewhere between a stuffed paratha and a papad. Very yum. The biryani was light and flavourful. Typical delhi style, closer to the Calcutta style (minus the potatoes) More pulao-ish than a heavily flavoured hyderabadi style (my personal favourite). This paired very well with a bit of the sauce from the tiffin chicken (which was so tender and soft) The chicken 65 was the only item that didn't measure up to my expectation. But very few do. Chicken 65 is best had at a Hyderabadi place with a lot more spices and chillies thrown in. The dish was good as a stand alone starter, but can't fulfil my craving for chicken 65. Everything was beautifully flavoured, low on oil - so not your typical takeaway - more home style, well packed, not too spicy. I'd say medium spice. The cold kheer was a lovely finish to the meal. I've seen pictures of their interiors and their cocktails look amazing. I'm glad to have a proper Indian restaurant near by. It's a place I would be confident to take friends looking for indian Updated 5 Dec 2018 We've now visited the dhaba twice. The first time was for their Diwali special fixed menu which was fantastic. 4 of us, but they allowed us to order for 3 as the 4th person was on a very restricted diet that they happily catered for. Enjoyed the food so much, that when I had to plan a dinner for 8 fussy Indians today who were traveling from across the London and the US: we needed good food, alcohol, space to be able to sit comfortably, talk in slightly louder voices and not be rushed out before the next sitting. I didn't think twice and just booked the Dhaba @ 49. Everyone loved the food. Vegetarians, chickentarians, meat eaters alike. Except for their paneer being a bit on the drier side, I have to say that every dish was as good as you would get in a food restaurant in Delhi and that is high praise indeed for a London restaurant. Service is still a bit on the slower side, but they more than make up for it in helpfulness. read more

We got takeout from here for my birthday..was sooo good!! :D And we made two home-made birthday cakes too to celebrate fully :D My previous experiences of Indian food in London, even famous Quilon restaurant, weren't that great - I found the food to taste either too peculiar or too sweet rather than savory. So it took a while finding a good place for Indian, but was well worth it!! Food tasted savory, flavorful, filling and delicious. Would recommend!! Note that they occasionally close take-out earlier than the stated closing time though, so hurry up ^^ I got the Chicken Tikka Masala, which since Goa days I've loooved and it's been my absolute favorite Indian cuisine dish. Though Chicken Chai Korma might also be tied for first :) We also got vegetable samosa starters and naan and rice, as well as Butter Chicken. When the dishes arrived they were unlabeled, which could be improved upon. And both Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken tasted absolutely delicious but a bit similar, so we were actually unsure which was whose haha! But either way, was a really pleasant and delicious meal :) Birthday spent sort of in lock down but with a delicious and memorable dinner! ^.^ read more

Delicious! From beginning to end. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly, helpful service. We had previously eaten at Dishoom and found it tasty but agreed that we enjoyed our overall experience at Dhaba@49 more. We started with Ragra Tikki and Gilafi Lamb Seekh. Followed by Butter Chicken, Pilau Rice, and Butter Naan. We found the prices to be reasonable. We definitely recommend to others and would certainly return again ourselves. read more

Wow! We've tried so many different delivery places and this place is incredible! Flavorful- the dal, the tandoori chicken, the baingan bharta omggggg yum! We're sooooooo picky about indian food bc there are so many choices but this has definitely entered our top 5! Can't wait to eat it again. read more

What a neighborhood find!! Visiting London from Boston and staying at nearby Airbnb apt and Dhaba was an outstanding choice for Indian food. We had the tandoori mixed grill, veg samosas, aloo gobhi, with garlic naan, and rice. So delicious and not to be missed. We left at 10pm and others were still coming in to eat. Looks like a VERY busy takeaway place, too. read more
