Our first experience with Daphne was back in 2022. I had just graduated from nursing school, and wanted a themed cake for my party. We yelped and researched and came across DH cake studio, it was a plus that she is also a food network cake off champ! We ordered a smaller cake, white cake, with mango mousse. Ever since then we've been hooked. Second time was in 2024 for our sons first birthday. A boombox themed cake, black cake with cookies and creme. Most recently for our son's 2nd birthday, Jollibee themed, back to white cake with mango mousse per our son's request. I cannot stress how easy communication and the design process is. What I love is that Daphne is very communicative, if not through email, through texts. Her cakes are ALWAYS a hit in any age group. Their execution is flawless, and the cakes always taste amazing. To our Asian tongue "not too sweet!" She's a cake off CHAMPION for a reason.

Best custom bakery in town if not the entire Bay Area! I live in Oakland and get my custom cakes here - that's how good it is. Gorgeous cakes and delicious too - we're talking gourmet quality. I ordered the white cake with strawberry filling for my son's first birthday party and ordered the same design as my first son's birthday cake because that's how much I loved it (animal safari). It's a stunning addition to your party - pictures don't do justice to the level of detail Daphne applies to her works of art / cakes. Guests are still talking about the design and the taste - light, delicious, and just the right amount of sweet. This isn't your typical sugar saturated cake that makes you nauseous afterwards. You will not regret your decision, this cake is worth every penny. Just contact her well in advance because she books up fast!!!

I was extremely disappointed with this cake. It was dry, tasted old, and the jam wasn't fresh at all. The decoration was sloppy--you could see folds and holes in the design, and it looked nothing like what I had asked for. What made it worse was being told last-minute (on the same day!) that there would be "slight changes," but the final result looked awful. I expected something beautiful for my 35th birthday cake, based on the promises made, but unfortunately, you did not deliver. I would never order a cake from your shop again, and highly recommend others to stay away. If you want something nice, move on to the next cake maker. After speaking to Daphne she did give me half my money back but I had no dessert for my special day and guests!

Daphne and team did such an amazing job on the custom cake I ordered for my friend's "dumpling themed" baby shower. I was desperately trying to find a bakery who could take a custom order on short notice when my other shop fell through, and Daphne responded so quickly! They were able to turn around the order with only 5 days of notice and totally saved me. The cake got SO many compliments on the day of and was legitimately delicious. Not too sweet, moist (but not wet), with a generous serving of cream and fruit inside. I had leftovers a few days later - still delicious! The team even provided instructions on how to properly cut and serve. Thanks DH!!! Would highly recommend.

My 5 year old daughter picked an inspiration photo of a cake she wanted that was honestly disappointing to me but I didn't want to say no to her so I told her I will send the photo to the cake maker and she will put her creative twist on it. I asked DH Cake to make an elevated version of the cake picture we sent her and she fully delivered. I was blown away when I went to pick it up and my daughter and husband could not stop gushing over the cake when I brought it home. Of course all the guests could not speak enough praise about the beauty and the taste of the delicious cake. DH Cake did an impressive job packaging the cake as well. I had to transport the cake first to my house, then to the party venue and it traveled really well. We will definitely order more cakes for future events. Thank you very much!

I started yelping cake places in San Jose and found DH Cake Studio. I was not disappointed! I graduated last year and never had the chance to celebrate it yet. My family and I decided to celebrate it finally on March 5, 2022. One of the things I wanted/needed was a personalized, medical-themed cake for my dessert table. To be honest, I never ordered/bought cake before besides the pre-made cakes at Safeway, Walmart, or whatever. So, I was pretty new with the cake terms and whatnot. I shopped around local Southbay/Eastbay cake places on Yelp and Instagram. Finally, I came across DH Cake Studio. All her cake photos were so pretty, unique, cute, etc any definition you can think of !! She made and baked it all! I texted and emailed for a quote and described to her what I wanted and my vision of my cake. DH Cake Studio responded back in a very timely manner (a couple of hours later or even less) via text. Through text, DH Cake seemed attentive, patient, and detailed to what I was texting and wanting. Long story short, I decided to go with this place because it had a lot of reviews, pretty cake photos, really nice & unique cake designs, and SHE WENT ON FOOD NETWORK! In addition, my older sis and brother-in-law also really loved her work and had their vote on her too. I just had a feeling she wouldn't disappoint me and my cake will turn out exactly what I wanted. I did tell her that I trust her artistic and creative ability, so do whatever she needed to do to make my cake look nice/nicer- told her she can rearrange/add things if she needed as long as it doesn't change my medical theme & cost more money AS WELL change colors to anything on the cake as long as it fits the lavender, gold, and white color theme. The day before my party, she asked me what time I am planning to pick up my cake and sent me what my cake looked like. My first impression... OMFG it's so f'n PRETTY! My WHOLE FAMILY and I thought it was sooooo CUTEEEEE! It came out WAY NICER than we imagined and expected to be. We were speechless and were so happy with the cake. We will always come back and trust Daphne. Hands down she's the best ! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

This is the second time we have ordered a cake from Daphne. First cake for my daughters birthday and now for a wedding. The cake as usual has been the highlight, was delicious and everybody has been talking about it. Their communication is always clear and I love the way they provide instructions for every step to make sure the cake gets delivered perfectly. We always try to customize. My daughter wanted her LOL dolls on the cake and now it's our dogs we wanted. They find creative ways to manage our requests and I cannot recommend them enough.

This is long over due. I hired Daphne to make my gender reveal cake and the responses were quick and easy. She did an amazing job on the cake. My friend called her with the gender and my husband picked up the cake and she was so easy to work with. I added the cake topper and flowers to it and it was a wonderful centerpiece to our party. read more

The first time I ordered from Daphne was two years ago for my daughters 3rd bday, she made a floating bday cake and it was stunning. Second time was a friends bday Third time was my baby boy 100th day of birth. Lots of compliment about her cake design and price is very reasonable. I cannot recommend DH Cake Studio enough! Even their communication is on point! They made a gorgeous 3 tiered cake for my daughter's "Alice in One-derland" themed birthday party, and it was a huge hit. Everyone thought that it couldn't be real, because it was so gorgeous and ornately detailed. AND it tasted delicious too! Daphne and her team crushed it once again! I had the pleasure to order from DH Cake team for the second time and the cake was just wonderful! It looked so beautiful that many guests at first thought that it is part of the decor and not a real cake. Not only it looked good but it was very delicious with balanced sweetness. How often do you get a really amazing looking cake and it tastes great? In the years I have planned parties or events, I find the it is usually one or the other. Daphne however makes beautiful cakes and they taste amazing. I don't even know where to begin on the cake she made. Not only was the inside delicious (vanilla cake with strawberry mouse frosting), even the fondant she used on the outside was good (which is definitely not common). I sent her pictures of ideas I was looking for and she nailed it. She answered all my questions and was super communicative. I am so happy I found her. I am already using her for another event (cupcakes this time). If you need a cake for a birthday, wedding, event, etc. go to Daphne. You will not be disappointed. read more

I ordered a Barnyard theme cake from DH Cake studio. It looked GREAT! 10/10 for the beautiful artwork. Hands down! But the taste 1/10 :( Unfortunately, it was not my taste. I have had very delicious fondant cake in the past from another bakery but this one had a huge layer of butter right underneath the fondant (marked in picture) that gave a very buttery and eggy taste. The cake itself was very mushed between the layers and not sweet at all. I reached out to Daphne with my feedback and she was very receptive of it. It turns out that their products are on not too sweet side Asian style, and it might not be to everyone's taste. As for the buttercream, the thickness is necessary to its structure, to hold all those decorations and fondant in place. While all guests raved about the design, no one took seconds. For the first time in my life I just could not eat the cake and had to trash it, which was very painful especially after spending 400+ dollars on it. read more

I had a wonderful experience with my custom cake order! I had ordered a custom cake for my father's 70th birthday. We had requested a handmade figurine that looked like him, servings for 6 people, and wanted a mango flavor for the cake. Recipient's Reaction (5/5): My father loved it! He couldn't stop laughing when the cake first came out and was smiling and looking at the cake during the party. He even put the handmade figurine of himself in a jar and wants to keep it for as long as possible. Portions (5/5): We had requested enough cake for 6 people and we're happy to say that the portions did not disappoint and weren't tiny like other bakeries. In fact, we had enough for leftovers, which we packed for others to take home. Cake (5/5): My father likes lightly sweet desserts. The cake itself had a texture that was light and airy and the taste was delicate and not too sweet. The same can be said for the buttercream icing being light and not overly sweet. As for the mango filling, it provided a nice elevation to sweet flavors and was slightly tart, but not sour. Service (5/5): I had scheduled to pick up the cake. Communication was excellent and prompt and when my husband went to pick up the cake, Daphne gave us extra ice packs to make sure that the cake was kept cold during the hour-long drive to the party location. read more

Wonderful device and beautiful cake pops we had for our sons 4th birthday. He wanted Spiderman so DH Cake Studio had us text pics of what we were looking for, we even requested blue sticks which they ordered for us. They came out so cool, all the kids, neighbors and teachers we shared them with loved them! The heads were even shaped like a real Spiderman head, not just a circle shape on a stick. I ordered four dozen unicorn cupcakes. They were pretty! I like the butter cream since it wasn't too sweet. For me however, the cake was dry. I texted Daphne and she said, "Cupcakes are butter based pound cake, it requires to consume in room temperatures and texture are dense in nature. Cakes are dairy based, soft and moist." If someone orders, I would recommend to ask for the dairy based soft and moist version. I ordered four dozens, but only 1.5 were eaten so I have a bunch left over. I do appreciate that it wasn't too sweet and that she was able to add two dozen cupcakes the week of the event. read more

For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.
