I used DH cake studio to create a custom cake for a 40th birthday party. Their communication was wonderful and they were able to bring my vision to life in the most spectacular way. When the cake came out, guests whipped out their cameras as if a celebrity had arrived. To top it off, the cake was delicious! Will definitely use them again!

Gender Reveal Cake Everyone had the impression that gender reveal cakes are usually super sweet... so we honestly didn't have the highest expectations for the taste But DH Cake Studio completely surprised us! The cake was so delicious, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet at all. It looked beautiful, tasted even better, and made our gender reveal extra special. Absolutely perfect for our big reveal! Thank you, DH Cake Studio!

I had the best customer service and experience working with the team at DH Cake Studio. The cake was perfect, exactly what I had requested and more. The cake was delicious and a big hit with our family. Will come back again!

Thank-you DH Cake Studio for this wonderful Birthday Cake for our Little One. The cake was very light and not too sweet. Over all, Flawless!

Absolutely incredible cake! It looked stunning and tasted even better--perfectly moist, flavorful, and beautifully crafted. Every detail was amazing. Thank you for making our celebration extra special! I recommend DH cake studio

Our first experience with Daphne was back in 2022. I had just graduated from nursing school, and wanted a themed cake for my party. We yelped and researched and came across DH cake studio, it was a plus that she is also a food network cake off champ! We ordered a smaller cake, white cake, with mango mousse. Ever since then we've been hooked. Second time was in 2024 for our sons first birthday. A boombox themed cake, black cake with cookies and creme. Most recently for our son's 2nd birthday, Jollibee themed, back to white cake with mango mousse per our son's request. I cannot stress how easy communication and the design process is. What I love is that Daphne is very communicative, if not through email, through texts. Her cakes are ALWAYS a hit in any age group. Their execution is flawless, and the cakes always taste amazing. To our Asian tongue "not too sweet!" She's a cake off CHAMPION for a reason.

When I first saw my son's cake, it literally took my breath away. It was perfect! It was a work of art! Not only was it beautiful but it was so delicious! The bread was moist the filling was perfect, not overly sweet and you could taste the flavor of the mixed berries. Communication with the DH Cake team was fantastic. They delivered the cake at the exact time that we agreed upon. It was beautifully packaged and took care in loading it onto my car such exceptional service. I am beyond grateful for for the service I received I will be a repeat customer!

Best custom bakery in town if not the entire Bay Area! I live in Oakland and get my custom cakes here - that's how good it is. Gorgeous cakes and delicious too - we're talking gourmet quality. I ordered the white cake with strawberry filling for my son's first birthday party and ordered the same design as my first son's birthday cake because that's how much I loved it (animal safari). It's a stunning addition to your party - pictures don't do justice to the level of detail Daphne applies to her works of art / cakes. Guests are still talking about the design and the taste - light, delicious, and just the right amount of sweet. This isn't your typical sugar saturated cake that makes you nauseous afterwards. You will not regret your decision, this cake is worth every penny. Just contact her well in advance because she books up fast!!!

I was extremely disappointed with this cake. It was dry, tasted old, and the jam wasn't fresh at all. The decoration was sloppy--you could see folds and holes in the design, and it looked nothing like what I had asked for. What made it worse was being told last-minute (on the same day!) that there would be "slight changes," but the final result looked awful. I expected something beautiful for my 35th birthday cake, based on the promises made, but unfortunately, you did not deliver. I would never order a cake from your shop again, and highly recommend others to stay away. If you want something nice, move on to the next cake maker. After speaking to Daphne she did give me half my money back but I had no dessert for my special day and guests!

Daphne and team did such an amazing job on the custom cake I ordered for my friend's "dumpling themed" baby shower. I was desperately trying to find a bakery who could take a custom order on short notice when my other shop fell through, and Daphne responded so quickly! They were able to turn around the order with only 5 days of notice and totally saved me. The cake got SO many compliments on the day of and was legitimately delicious. Not too sweet, moist (but not wet), with a generous serving of cream and fruit inside. I had leftovers a few days later - still delicious! The team even provided instructions on how to properly cut and serve. Thanks DH!!! Would highly recommend.

My daughter's beautiful 5th birthday cake. Lola said she had the perfect cake for her perfect birthday party!

My 5 year old daughter picked an inspiration photo of a cake she wanted that was honestly disappointing to me but I didn't want to say no to her so I told her I will send the photo to the cake maker and she will put her creative twist on it. I asked DH Cake to make an elevated version of the cake picture we sent her and she fully delivered. I was blown away when I went to pick it up and my daughter and husband could not stop gushing over the cake when I brought it home. Of course all the guests could not speak enough praise about the beauty and the taste of the delicious cake. DH Cake did an impressive job packaging the cake as well. I had to transport the cake first to my house, then to the party venue and it traveled really well. We will definitely order more cakes for future events. Thank you very much!

I gave Daphne a picture of a pickle cake I liked for a pickled themed birthday for my son and asked for something similar. Daphne said "no problem, we'll make it even better," and did she ever! Cake looked AMAZING! We loved it. My favorite part was the detail that went into the "ends" of the pickle. Such great quality! The taste...perfection as well! Not too sweet, great cookies and cream mousse. We were so happy with the result! It was eaten completely! Fondant wasn't too thick. Layered beautifully (not enough time to take pics of that. Oops) SHE EVEN DID "PICKLE JUICE" spillage with sugar. Amazing. Can't recommend Daphne enough. This was our first custom cake ever and we will definitely be reaching out to Daphne in the future.

S F.

The cake was delicious! As us Asians would say, "Not too sweet." Meaning the perfect amount of sweetness for our taste :D Daphne is incredibly responsive and easy to work with. This was my second birthday cake from her and it's been a pleasure each time. She is professional and kind. Will be back for more!

My friends 50th birthday cake. I'm sorry I didn't get a better picture! It was beautiful.

This is long over due. I hired Daphne to make my gender reveal cake and the responses were quick and easy. She did an amazing job on the cake. I've ordered multiple cakes from Daphne and she never disappoint us. The first time I ordered from Daphne was two years ago for my daughters 3rd bday, she made a floating bday cake and it was stunning. Second time was a friends bday Third time was my baby boy 100th day of birth. Lots of compliment about her cake design and price is very reasonable. Daphne was great and remained very professional throughout the entire ordering/planning/delivery process. I cannot recommend DH Cake Studio enough! Even their communication is on point! They made a gorgeous 3 tiered cake for my daughter's "Alice in One-derland" themed birthday party, and it was a huge hit. Everyone thought that it couldn't be real, because it was so gorgeous and ornately detailed. AND it tasted delicious too! I am now a huge fan of her cakes, and will definitely be ordering from her again the next time I have a special event. I am so glad that I was able to find DH Cake Studio! It was a great pleasure to work with Daphne, she responded to my request very fast, provided a couple of options and the whole experience was seamless comparing to some other bakeries that were very slow in response. The prices are also very reasonable comparing to the rates I received in Burlingame/South San Francisco area. The cake was stunning and delicious. I'd highly recommend DH Cake. For our twin's 2nd birthday we were very particular about the design of the cake and our search for the perfect cake designer ended here. She understood our design in just a couple of emails and when we went to pick the cake, it was epic! She was very courteous and had packed the 2 tier cake in a meticulous manner so that it won't topple during the 30 mins ride back home. Each and every guest were not just amazed at the design but were also impressed with the taste. One of our guests quipped- " I was expecting the same old chocolate flavor but Mango flavor was just unexpected" and not just the kids but also the parents wanted more of it. Overall - phenomenal design and taste. DH cake will always remain lemur TO-GO place for any occasion going forward. Thanks Daphne for making our special occasion memorable! read more

How often do you get a really amazing looking cake and it tastes great? In the years I have planned parties or events, I find the it is usually one or the other. Daphne however makes beautiful cakes and they taste amazing. I don't even know where to begin on the cake she made. Not only was the inside delicious (vanilla cake with strawberry mouse frosting), even the fondant she used on the outside was good (which is definitely not common). I sent her pictures of ideas I was looking for and she nailed it. She answered all my questions and was super communicative. I am so happy I found her. I am already using her for another event (cupcakes this time). If you need a cake for a birthday, wedding, event, etc. go to Daphne. You will not be disappointed. read more

I ordered a Barnyard theme cake from DH Cake studio. It looked GREAT! 10/10 for the beautiful artwork. Hands down! But the taste 1/10 :( Unfortunately, it was not my taste. I have had very delicious fondant cake in the past from another bakery but this one had a huge layer of butter right underneath the fondant (marked in picture) that gave a very buttery and eggy taste. The cake itself was very mushed between the layers and not sweet at all. I reached out to Daphne with my feedback and she was very receptive of it. It turns out that their products are on not too sweet side Asian style, and it might not be to everyone's taste. As for the buttercream, the thickness is necessary to its structure, to hold all those decorations and fondant in place. While all guests raved about the design, no one took seconds. For the first time in my life I just could not eat the cake and had to trash it, which was very painful especially after spending 400+ dollars on it. read more

My wife ordered a cake from Daphne after much searching and we can both say that we are happy we ordered our son's first birthday cake from her! Even with a short turn-around time, Daphne created a cake that everyone at our party loved, both inside and out. The cake was perfect, not to sweet, and the decorations were so well made. I ordered four dozen unicorn cupcakes. They were pretty! I like the butter cream since it wasn't too sweet. For me however, the cake was dry. I texted Daphne and she said, "Cupcakes are butter based pound cake, it requires to consume in room temperatures and texture are dense in nature. Cakes are dairy based, soft and moist." If someone orders, I would recommend to ask for the dairy based soft and moist version. I ordered four dozens, but only 1.5 were eaten so I have a bunch left over. I do appreciate that it wasn't too sweet and that she was able to add two dozen cupcakes the week of the event. read more

I recently had the pleasure of ordering a cake from DH Cake Studio, and let me tell you, it was an absolute masterpiece! First and foremost, the cake itself was a work of art. Daphne's attention to detail was simply stunning. The cake was an absolute showstopper at our event, and it elicited gasps of admiration from everyone present. But it wasn't just the visual appeal that impressed us; the taste was equally extraordinary. The cake was moist, tender, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Throughout the entire process, Daphne's communication was impeccable. She responded promptly to my inquiries and was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the decision-making process. Everyone couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous the cake looked and how absolutely delicious it tasted. Without a doubt, I will be hiring Daphne again in the future. read more

Update Review: First things first, I'd like to clarify that…read morethe cake and filling was indeed what I ordered. Secondly, I have to give credit where it's due- Sweets By Design totally came through when it came to taste and wow factor (minus the drip design)!! Cake was fantastic [MOIST & DELICIOUS] and I was surprised by my in-laws approval as well. No joke, they are harsh critics when it comes to desserts and to see them enjoy every bite was definitely a SLAM DUNK. I legit couldn't cut the cake fast enough!! On a side note, thank you Nicole for immediately reaching out to me regarding my disappointment. She handled the situation in a prompt and professional manner. I appreciated her genuineness and heartfelt concern about my issues. 3 stars overall but one additional star for Nicole's customer service. She truly cares about her clients. Business is booming for SBD for obvious reasons and my only warning would be the glitch in communication. Be aware that you may need to reach out and send a few reminder pokes. ---------------------------------------------------- I really wanted to like this small business, I really had high hopes. Unfortunately Sweets By Design is an absolute bust!! After a not so good first impression with SBD during my baby shower planning, I still wanted to give Nicole and her business a try. Since we were never really able to celebrate the birth of my daughter the way we wanted, my husband and I wanted to make her 6 month [[half]] bday a little bit sweeter. I decided to reach out and see if Nicole could help me with our cake. To start off, the issues with communication was just as bad as the 1st time around. I reached out to the business via Instagram on 9/26 and got a response back quickly. I informed the cake's pick up date and sent over 3 designs that I was potentially looking at. I ended up settling with the pastel, drip, macaron, & sprinkles design [see attached photo]. A quote was promised the following day [9/27] and NOTHING WAS RECEIVED. Nicole did reach out 2 days later with the pricing and I was ready to place my order and get the ball rolling. NO RESPONSE. I dm again asking for a cake flavor listing so I can finalize the order and process whatever cost that is needed. AGAIN, CRICKETS! I am forced to reach out yet again on 9/30 asking if she was going to be able to make the cake adding that important details and payment had not yet been able to be finalized. At that point I finally get a response. The entire process of working with this baker is just more stressful than it should. An email was sent to confirm cake info and the filling listed was incorrect. Then 2 days prior to pick up, I have to message Nicole again about an address as to where I need to pick up my order. She then sends another revised email. Cake- My husband was left with the job of picking up the cake since I have an infant to attend to. He comes home with a cake that is nice BUT NOT WHAT I ORDERED. The drip design was nowhere to be found. At this point, I question whether or not the cake & the filling is even correct. I am super let down by what was delivered, even after all the detailed discussion with Nicole. I have dm'd her through IG & sent her texts regarding my disappointment so we'll see how that goes. I'll update my review if/when I hear back from someone regarding this matter.

My virtual baby shower was boba themed so my friend sent a picture of one of the graphics my sister made for me for the baby shower as inspiration for the boba cake. The cake (picture attached) looked just like the graphic and was perfect! I liked that she used an actual boba straw for the top and that it was very detailed and cute. Everyone who was able to see it online thought it was a perfect boba cake. For flavorings, my friend and husband chose the lemon with raspberry (I think) filling. It was one of the hottest days in the Silicon Valley (over 100 degrees) but the cake kept fine in the car and sitting out. The cake itself was moist, not too sweet and had the right amount of lemon flavoring. The raspberry part was also very good. Overall, no complaints about the texture or flavor of the cake. I'm not the hugest fan of fondant so I'm not the best judge but the overall icing was fine as well. Overall, very impressed with the style, design and execution of the cake. The flavor was also good!
