Our first experience with Daphne was back in 2022. I had just graduated from nursing school, and wanted a themed cake for my party. We yelped and researched and came across DH cake studio, it was a plus that she is also a food network cake off champ! We ordered a smaller cake, white cake, with mango mousse. Ever since then we've been hooked. Second time was in 2024 for our sons first birthday. A boombox themed cake, black cake with cookies and creme. Most recently for our son's 2nd birthday, Jollibee themed, back to white cake with mango mousse per our son's request. I cannot stress how easy communication and the design process is. What I love is that Daphne is very communicative, if not through email, through texts. Her cakes are ALWAYS a hit in any age group. Their execution is flawless, and the cakes always taste amazing. To our Asian tongue "not too sweet!" She's a cake off CHAMPION for a reason.
We were absolutely delighted with our experience ordering from DH Cake Studio. We ordered two cakes for our children, and they matched the inspiration photos I had shared to the dot. We were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail. The cakes were light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Most importantly, our kids loved them. Best custom bakery in town if not the entire Bay Area! I live in Oakland and get my custom cakes here - that's how good it is. Gorgeous cakes and delicious too - we're talking gourmet quality. I ordered the white cake with strawberry filling for my son's first birthday party and ordered the same design as my first son's birthday cake because that's how much I loved it (animal safari). It's a stunning addition to your party - pictures don't do justice to the level of detail Daphne applies to her works of art / cakes. Guests are still talking about the design and the taste - light, delicious, and just the right amount of sweet. This isn't your typical sugar saturated cake that makes you nauseous afterwards. You will not regret your decision, this cake is worth every penny. Just contact her well in advance because she books up fast!!!
I was extremely disappointed with this cake. It was dry, tasted old, and the jam wasn't fresh at all. The decoration was sloppy--you could see folds and holes in the design, and it looked nothing like what I had asked for. What made it worse was being told last-minute (on the same day!) that there would be "slight changes," but the final result looked awful. I expected something beautiful for my 35th birthday cake, based on the promises made, but unfortunately, you did not deliver. I would never order a cake from your shop again, and highly recommend others to stay away. If you want something nice, move on to the next cake maker. After speaking to Daphne she did give me half my money back but I had no dessert for my special day and guests!
Daphne and team did such an amazing job on the custom cake I ordered for my friend's "dumpling themed" baby shower. I was desperately trying to find a bakery who could take a custom order on short notice when my other shop fell through, and Daphne responded so quickly! They were able to turn around the order with only 5 days of notice and totally saved me. The cake got SO many compliments on the day of and was legitimately delicious. Not too sweet, moist (but not wet), with a generous serving of cream and fruit inside. I had leftovers a few days later - still delicious! The team even provided instructions on how to properly cut and serve. Thanks DH!!! Would highly recommend.
My 5 year old daughter picked an inspiration photo of a cake she wanted that was honestly disappointing to me but I didn't want to say no to her so I told her I will send the photo to the cake maker and she will put her creative twist on it. I asked DH Cake to make an elevated version of the cake picture we sent her and she fully delivered. I was blown away when I went to pick it up and my daughter and husband could not stop gushing over the cake when I brought it home. Of course all the guests could not speak enough praise about the beauty and the taste of the delicious cake. DH Cake did an impressive job packaging the cake as well. I had to transport the cake first to my house, then to the party venue and it traveled really well. We will definitely order more cakes for future events. Thank you very much!
Hello Kitty 6" single tier heart shaped cake! Vanilla cake with green tea filling. Daphne has exceeded my expectations! She is truly talented & so so sweet! My cake's so beautiful that I had a hard time deciding to cut into it! Haha. Everyone who had a slice LOVED the cake. I personally never had a cake this amazing. The texture was AMAZING & the taste also AMAZING. I will most definitely order from Daphne again. Thank you!!! The best cake I ever had.
The cake was delicious! As us Asians would say, "Not too sweet." Meaning the perfect amount of sweetness for our taste :D Daphne is incredibly responsive and easy to work with. I had a cake lady that I ordered all my customized cakes from, but when I inquired for a cake for my friends birthday she told me she retired. I started yelping cake places in San Jose and found DH Cake Studio. I was not disappointed! Ordering the cake was easy and Daphne was very nice and provided so much information and asked questions to get the idea of what I was looking for! She was amazing! When Daphne brought the cake out I was speechless. It was beautiful and exactly what I had in mind. Every detail was carefully crafted. And the pricing was not bad for the quality of work! Daphne , delivered beyond and above with my baby shower cake . The execution and the details on the cake were beyond what I asked for ! I was simply thrilled with the final look . Also the cake tasted really good . Their popular mango mousse option is what I went with . Not very sweet and super soft even for tiered fondant cake ! Even the packaging to take it home was really well done .Would highly recommend !
It's difficult to put into words how amazing the whole experience has been with DH Cake Studio. From the quick answer to my initial inquiry to the final delivery. I sent Daphne a picture of the cake I wanted for my son. The final product exceeded my expectations. It was actually better than the picture I sent. Everyone in my son's party commented on how amazing the cake was. We ordered white cake with mango filling. The cake did not only looked great, but it tasted great!, which is usually not expected with fondant covered cakes. I graduated last year and never had the chance to celebrate it yet. My family and I decided to celebrate it finally on March 5, 2022. One of the things I wanted/needed was a personalized, medical-themed cake for my dessert table. To be honest, I never ordered/bought cake before besides the pre-made cakes at Safeway, Walmart, or whatever. So, I was pretty new with the cake terms and whatnot. I shopped around local Southbay/Eastbay cake places on Yelp and Instagram. Finally, I came across DH Cake Studio. All her cake photos were so pretty, unique, cute, etc any definition you can think of !! She made and baked it all! I texted and emailed for a quote and described to her what I wanted and my vision of my cake. DH Cake Studio responded back in a very timely manner (a couple of hours later or even less) via text. Through text, DH Cake seemed attentive, patient, and detailed to what I was texting and wanting. Long story short, I decided to go with this place because it had a lot of reviews, pretty cake photos, really nice & unique cake designs, and SHE WENT ON FOOD NETWORK! In addition, my older sis and brother-in-law also really loved her work and had their vote on her too. I just had a feeling she wouldn't disappoint me and my cake will turn out exactly what I wanted. I did tell her that I trust her artistic and creative ability, so do whatever she needed to do to make my cake look nice/nicer- told her she can rearrange/add things if she needed as long as it doesn't change my medical theme & cost more money AS WELL change colors to anything on the cake as long as it fits the lavender, gold, and white color theme. The day before my party, she asked me what time I am planning to pick up my cake and sent me what my cake looked like. My first impression... OMFG it's so f'n PRETTY! My WHOLE FAMILY and I thought it was sooooo CUTEEEEE! It came out WAY NICER than we imagined and expected to be. We were speechless and were so happy with the cake. We will always come back and trust Daphne. Hands down she's the best ! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!
This is the second time we have ordered a cake from Daphne. First cake for my daughters birthday and now for a wedding. The cake as usual has been the highlight, was delicious and everybody has been talking about it. Their communication is always clear and I love the way they provide instructions for every step to make sure the cake gets delivered perfectly. We always try to customize. My daughter wanted her LOL dolls on the cake and now it's our dogs we wanted. They find creative ways to manage our requests and I cannot recommend them enough.

We ordered our daughter's birthday cake from here... and it was AMAZING! Usually the cakes that look good don't taste great or are too sweet. Daphne is the best! She knows exactly what you want. We got this birthday cake for my baby's 100 days party. I wanted our cat to be on the cake too. And Daphne nailed it. We found DH cake studio on Yelp, and we were so happy with what she made! Most especially, my son. He's obsessed with solar system/planets right now. We chose mango mousse flavor on the bottom tier and chocolate mousse for the top. We also got cookies for my son's class to share on his birthday. OMG!!!!! The softest most delicious cake I've ever had! The cupcakes were sooo adorable that we didn't feel like eating them! I requested for a unicorn themed cake and cupcakes for my daughter's birthday. Daphne is extremely professional and was accommodating when I had to cancel the macrons and reduce the counts on the cupcakes that I had originally asked for (we had to downsize the party due to COVID). DH Cake Studio did an amazing job with my daughters 2nd birthday cake with only a week notice !! I recommend not waiting till last minute but I do appreciate the hard work and detail she put into the cake. The owner was very quick to respond. I even had the chance to tell her my vision of the cake and she executed the cake perfectly. She was also able to give a quote and work with my budget. Not only did the cake look amazing, it tasted just as good too. Would definitely recommend this place and use their service again. read more

I ordered regular cupcakes and mini cupcakes for my daughter's 4th birthday party. Regular cupcake was perfect size (not too big for little ones)! Cupcake was delicious, not overly sweet, and really cute. I really liked the "contactless" pick up since we're living with new normal life style. Definitely I'll use DH Cake Studio again! I needed a custom cake for a 21st birthday party less than a few weeks notice and DH Cake Studio saved the day! After sending them an email they responded very promptly! Give them a theme or an idea of the cake you want and they will create it. I wanted to have a cake that looked like a computer circuit board as the birthday boy is a computer science major. I sent them a sample photo and the actual cake was beyond my expectations! The birthday boy was so surprised to see the cake and his guests were even more surprised! I went for the simple white cake with chocolate filling and I have to say everyone loved it! Will definitely order from them in the future. I live in SF and the commute to get the cake in Union City was well worth it! read more

We got lucky on my daughter's birthday cake! We called 3 weeks prior to the party and she accepted our order! I was so excited. We went with LOL Them cake and she did a great job on it. Though the color and some details were not on point but I was very happy with the result! Also, the cake tasted delicious! We went with chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream. It was such a pleasure working with Daphne! I ordered a 2 tier cake & some cake pops for my daughter's 5th birthday party & her work was breathtaking. Everyone was in awe of the details of the cake. What was even more surprising was how moist it was. The strawberry filling & fondant weren't overly sweet and was on point. I would love to comment on the cake pop flavor, but they all disappeared before I could try one. That should tell you that they were a hit too! Thanks for the DH cake making my daughter's blue-themed party dreams come true! Daphne is absolutely very easy to communicate with and every detail for her cake design is perfectly amazing! I have to say, DH Cake makes the "yummy fondant cake" incredibly happened! This is the first time I ordered fondant cake, lots of people told me that it is usually just for decorating and nothing else, they thought that fondant cake is no way to be delicious. They are wrong, all our guests including the kids, teens and even adults LOVE the taste of this super delicious caramel flavor cake, my husband who usually doesn't eat dessert much, after his first bite of this amazing cake, he literally fell in love with its taste, which is soft, moisture and like a pudding texture! This review is long past due. I've ordered twice from Daphne, total 4 cakes, I can only say , every time, she exceed my expectation. When i first ordered from her, she was able to accommodate my last minute requests with no problem. The cake were beautifully made and extremely tasty. She won me over ever since. This time around, all i did was sending her the photos of the cake and voila, there are my dream cakes. If one can imagine how nerve wracking hosting kids party can be, Daphne definitely put my mind at ease. You won't go wrong when working with Daphne. Not only it will not go wrong, your cake will be a hit. The cake is moist and not overly sweet. It taste amazing. The cake is on the dense side but i don't mind. Since it's not overly sweet, the overall taste is still very light. I am also extremely impressed with Daphne on her attention to details. To me, those cakes are art pieces. You can see Daphne put her heart and soul into her work. Because of Daphne, it's my habit nowadays to look up cake on Pinterest, wondering what kind of cake i should have next year for my kid's birthday. read more

This is our second time ordering cake from DH, the previous cake was excellent that's why we order again. However, sadly this time we are very disappointed with what we got. The cake had a hair in it... at first we thought it came with the cake? like a string you cut the cake with? then we dig it out from the center strawberry filling and realized it is actually a hair..... this was a huge disappointment for my family celebrating my mother's birthday... update* DH owner contacted us about the cake and they were extremely sincere about the issue and made it up. thank you for your kindness. Daphne made a beautiful 70th birthday cake for my mom. She was so great to work with and the communication was excellent! My mom doesn't like overly sweet cakes and Daphne's cakes are just perfect! We chose the white cake with strawberry mousse and it was delicious and refreshing! We also ordered some chocolate cupcakes that were super yummy as well! We have been ordering birthday cakes & desserts from Daphne for the past 6 years now. She is amazing to work with and her cakes are beautiful & delicious. It's very important to me to have a tasty cake, especially at a kid's party XD. And the guest's eyes always light up when we bring the visually stunning cake out. For some reason I always avoided purchasing cakes that were designed with fondant, mostly because I thought they wouldn't taste that good, but I was wrong. I asked Daphne to create a (casino/poker) themed cake for my boyfriend and it was AWESOME! I ended up getting a black angel cake with cookies and cream (buttercream), it was so moist and had the perfect amount of sweetness! Everything on it was edible (which was fun for the kids!) and it was the perfect size for about 4-5 people. DH Cake's is now my go to! :') Thank you so much, Daphne! read more

I was worried I would not be able to book an order 1 week before the event, but Thank you for making my daughter's 1st dream birthday cake possible. Smooth transaction. The cake came with a free cake topper but I make custom cake topper so I just changed it. Everyone loved the cake. The cake is rich in flavor (ordered strawberry shortcake) and not sweet. I am not a fondant eating type of person, but could not resist and ate most of it.. Some friends already asked where I ordered it from. Daphne was so easy to work with and made the most amazing 2 tiered cake and matching smash cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. She was born on St. Patrick's Day, so the party was lucky one themed. I sent Daphne 2 photos for inspiration and when I went to pick up the cake, I was AMAZED! Additionally, this was the best tasting cake I have ever had. The white cake was so light and fluffy and the strawberry mousse was so fresh. I swear I could eat this entire cake to myself and not even feel like I just ate a whole cake. Daphne is my new go-to person for custom cakes! Based on her reviews on Yelp, I decided to reach out to Daphne to create a "Pink Fong Baby Shark"-themed cake for my niece's 1st birthday party. As a first timer looking for custom cakes, it was very stressful shopping around. However, when I saw Daphne's work and contacted her about what I wanted, she was very prompt and professional. She responded to my emails so quickly and showed no hesitation on her ability to create my cake. She is located in Union City. I know Yelp doesn't have an exact address - which I thought was kind of weird. However, upon payment, she will share with you her exact location. So don't let that steer you away. When i picked up the cake, Daphne was very friendly. She walked me to my car and even waited for me to put my seatbelt on before handing me the cake. (I had my fiancé with me and he really could have helped, but she insisted and I thought that was super nice of her. I showed her a picture (literally off Google) of what I wanted and Daphne hit it spot on! Our party guests were impressed with the looks of the cake. They were even MORE impressed when they tasted the cake. I went with Snow White Cake with Strawberry mousse. It was delish! Everyone kept asking me where I ordered the cake from and I was more than happy to share Daphne's yelp page. I am definitely going to go to Daphne for all my custom cake needs. I'm a happy customer! You get what you paid for! I ordered two cakes since I can't have one big party so I had to split it up. Daphne is very professional in every way, she responds to your email quickly and very organized and will do a post follow up on you too! I like it that she will reach out to you for clarification and reminders. There is no question that her cakes are so wonderful and delicious!! Another thing that impressed me is the packaging! It seems like it is custom made for cakes, it gave me a piece of mind that the cake will get to the destination safely. Hats off! read more
