If you've ever been kicked to the curb in a relationship and had no idea what happened, but you had your heart and soul in it and no matter what you tried, you couldn't fix it, well, you'll understand the feeling I had. In the case of my hard drive, however, I was glad I found Ace Data Recovery, who could fix it. My drive had some precious data and artwork on it, and Ace Data got it back. As you likely know or will find out, this is not a cheap proposition. All drives will eventually fail and, fortunately, these days it's fairly inexpensive to buy a good external drive. But if the day comes that you're stuck and need an honest assessment by a reputable company...this is a good one. Diana and Don were very helpful and responsive, and I got back everything I'd hoped for. Fwiw, I spent several weeks after first contacting them, learning everything I could about data recovery and comparing prices. Ultimately, it became obvious that it's faster and safer (and cheaper in the long run) to take your drive to an expert. The price I received from Ace Data was consistent with other places of the same caliber! That's the important distinction if you want a reliable, quality level of service -- in short, you get what you pay for, and I did.

Each round gets a little more aggressive. This location quoted $200 more to clone a hard drive before replacing it (going from a factory spinner to solid state). This process involves inserting the new memory stick into an enclosure, selecting source, destination and clone in the software, letting it run 20 minutes, test booting from it, and removing the memory stick from the enclosure. The work is so trivial that most shops include it with the swap quote. Other shops charge about $10 for the incremental labor involved.

There were multiple problems, and it is a very complicated recovery, outside of a 24 hour deal, but I was still hoping for a relatively timely solution. My work is highly time sensitive and even one lost file is a huge problem, so I gladly paid to have this done. With the other company I was quoted 2 weeks, but fast forward FOUR weeks and they had given absolutely ZERO communication outside of the extremely vague "working on it, it's complicated." let alone any files. I took my drive back and brought it to 24 hour data and already had more updates and communication within 24 hours than I did in over a month with the other company, not to mention I GOT FILES BACK for the first of the four clients within THREE DAYS. They wanted to give me something to get started on while I wait for the rest, which they expect soon. Let me tell you, this means the world to me and I just want to shout it from the rooftops. They've been understanding and kind, and the most wonderful communicators every step of the way. Their customer service, professionalism, speed and mind reader abilities are the absolute best. He consistently told me he recovered lots of data (around 2TB) and I asked for proof like pictures or videos of my data and he just completely ghosted me and never provided me proof. Then when I kept hounding him to give me this assurance he ended up sending me my drive back with someone else's data on it (after he initially sent my drive back with literally nothing on it). Completely lack of accountability and constantly makes excuses for his lack of integrity. Take this review for what you will but I'd just completely disregard having this company do data recovery.

While she has the hands and nose of a model and the feet of a toddler, Baby J's 3 pairs of reader glasses are an egregious display of poor vision. The art is questionable including a hand-drawn framed picture of the owner's beloved cat whose eyes follow you, creating a distracting level of discomfort and paranoia. It's difficult to relax at Jessica's Place because the owner's energy is that of a caffeine fueled meth addict, not to mention the line outside the door and the unpredictable office hours despite signage indicating otherwise. Expect to be overwhelmed by projector sized monitors and a flurry of furious SQL queries, only to be outdone by the owner regaling tales of her morning cold plunge and meat sweats. I left covered in cat hair, sober, and questioning everything I thought I knew about Excel. The only worse business in Arlington is Matty B's.
