Do not recommend- avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, he…read moredoesn't stand behind his work. After experiencing a failure of an install (a secure shower seat failed on first use), I was ignored for 6 days and only on my follow up was it "Oh, sorry for taking so long to tell you sorry about your luck- not my problem". (I've paraphrased but this is the gist). I offered him the chance to make it right, but he has dodged accountability at every turn. He didn't even bother to show up to inspect the failure, simply told me it wasn't his faul via text a week after the failure. He wastes no time expecting payment, though. I have everything documented and will provide upon request and during a video review. I'm still hoping to avoid litigation by having someone ELSE come and fix it for a reasonable rate, but my hopes aren't high. He also damaged my trim (cut into it) installing an access panel behind the shower, which I didn't make a big deal out of at the time; but after the failure of the seat, I have to warn you- you can do better. He's young and I respect the hustle but he has a LOT to learn about integrity and accountability it seems.

First, let me say that I HATE writing negative things about anyone's business. Good reviews are…read morenot only about delivering a product, but equally important is the customer service that goes with it. On the day I originally spoke with Jim about replacing a water heater (8/7/2018), we were back and forth all day on the phone. The next day which was to be the installation day, we also texted/talked several times. He kept saying he was still coming into the evening and arrived around 11:00 p.m. He had agreed that at the end of the job, he would remove the old water heater from the premises. (And isn't that standard procedure for professional contractors to pick up after themselves anyway?) I was not on-site when they were done(12:30 a.m.) but he texted me a picture that he had completed the job. He had collected the money prior to the work. It was my disabled son's house and he did not go into the basement to check anything. He was so grateful about them coming out at such an inopportune time that he foolishly offered Jim a $100 tip which was accepted. When I went down in the basement the next day, I was shocked to see that the old heater AND the carton from the new one had not been removed. OF COURSE, my attempts to contact Jim by text/phone calls went unanswered for more than 24 hours. Long story short.... today is 22 days later and at least two time frames have been agreed upon only to find that Jim is a no-show/no-call. He has given personal health problems and logistics as reasons why it is so difficult for him to complete his part of the agreement. The $100 tip would have more than covered someone else removing this heavy object and large box from the basement. I am left wondering if ALL customers have this problem with him, or is it only the ones in certain towns, which I won't name? I even let him know yesterday that I would review his service with 2 stars, but I guess he could not care less....no response. Will ABSOLUTELY NOT use this company again.......I am one disgruntled senior citizen of color! Thank goodness, the heater works!!!

On both occasions Carl and Son got the work done promptly and correctly. The two gentlemen who did the work were professional and courteous. The first incident was a natural gas leak that had to be handled as an emergency. The home warranty company first dispatched a different plumbing service from Chicago. I could write volumes on this initial plumbers incompetence however I will get to the point. When the first plumber left Nipsco still detected a severe natural gas leak. This leak point was clearly marked before this plumber started. I refused to have this same service back and it took a lot of arguing and a threat of law suite but finally the home warranty company agreed to dispatch a different plumber. This was Carl and Son and the experience was like night and day. This leak was repaired and after the entire system was pressure tested another valve showed slight leakage. This was also repaired. Nipsco commented the repair was excellent and was able to immediately turn the gas back on. I would recommend Carl and Son to anybody in the "Region". People tend to dwell on the negatives but rarely take the time to pass along the positives. Carl and Son did the job correctly on both jobs. I would hire them again in a second. Thank you Carl & Son!
