Pirates Cove Self Storage Pinckney

They seemed very confused. Also, they are a bit on the pricey side...just went with them because…read morethey were close to my house and that would be convenient. I was originally quoted for $180 (high enough) but, it ended up being like $220 with fees and prorating.. ridiculous! BEcause, I booked it on Thursday, luckily not Wednesday like initially intended (needed it for Friday) but, they had to start charging from time of booking which doesn't help me any and cost an extra $8/day. In addition, they left the damn lock on the thing so we couldn't access it until Saturday anyway and were there trying to unload on Friday night and couldn't. Had to wait until Saturday when someone was there to get into it....UGH! frustrating!!! OH well! I need it for about 2 weeks or so and I'll be gone. Just so expensive and I would not recommend them.

Sal and Aaron took care of us well in our local Ann Arbor move! They were on time, professional,…read moreand kind. They took great care in moving our furniture, even navigating super heavy pieces through narrow spaces with finesse. Many boxes of delicate kitchenware were moved without any issues or breakage. They were happy to move stuff into the right rooms and position/set things up to make our lives easier. The move did end up take 1.5 hours longer than quoted, which was $$ more, but I think some of our furniture pieces were heavier than expected and we probably ended up with more boxes than expected.

TLDR; the movers stood around/in the truck most of the morning, my husband and I moved majority of…read morethe items, they damaged our driveway and final bill was about twice the quote. Unfortunately, my husband and I had a nightmare of a move with Wondermove. This review is true to the events that happened and I would just like to prevent someone else from having to deal with the added stress this company caused. We were moving from a 1,000sqft home that had "larger items" consisting of 2 beds, 2 couches and a dresser. We were quoted 3.5-4 hours and $760-$926. The movers (Dae and Travis) showed up at 8:45am and we were excited to get moving. We took a walkthrough of the house and they started to move the larger items. This is where it all went downhill. I was finishing packing a few boxes in the kitchen and noticed I hadn't seen the movers coming in and out as expected. I then realized only one mover would occasionally come in and grab a box. I asked Dae if Travis was okay and he said he was "playing tetris" in the truck. It was now 11 and we still had plenty to pack up. They both stood around/in the truck for most of the morning and occasionally came in to move an item as I asked them about it. My husband and I didn't know what else to do to get them to move the items so we started moving all of the boxes and workout equipment up from the basement and setting it all outside of the truck. I didn't want to be confrontational but was absolutely dumbfounded that we were doing majority of the work that we paid the service to do. After having to leave items behind because they left their own inventory in the truck we finally departed for our new home around 1. We get to the new house and they scrape our driveway with the underride guard. I watch Travis run around and try to kick away the asphalt as if nothing happened. They then attempt to drive up the driveway front ways and beech the truck. The underride guard is now scraping the cul-de-sac asphalt and the front tires are digging up the asphalt on our driveway. We sat waiting for a tow truck to arrive at 3:30. We now are unloading the truck (my husband and I again doing a lot of the work) to get this job done. Majority of the boxes ended up in the front room (not as labeled). The hardest I saw them work was when it was 5o'clock and the truck wasn't even half empty. The final bill ended up being $1,533. We later spoke to Nick (manager) on the phone and he determined the best he could do is offer 20% for us repair to the driveway ourselves. He said that we should have called someone when we noticed the movers were not doing their job, which was a baffling response, then rushed us off the phone. I couldn't be more disappointed in this company and regret choosing them.

I would strongly caution against using this company. I hired them to remove a fold-out couch from…read moremy third floor. When they arrived I told them I wasn't sure if the couch would need to be disassembled or the doors taken off their hinges in order to get the couch down the stairs. They assured me that they were professionals and knew how to handle it. Two hours later they had managed to get the couch out of the house after knocking three large holes in the plaster on the staircase. When I told them I didn't want to pay until the plaster was repaired, the movers were instructed to sit in front of my house in their truck until I paid them. I figured that my issue was with the management, so I paid the movers after speaking with a manager who assured me that everything would be taken care of. Long story short: it wasn't taken care of. When I finally spoke to an upper-level manager -- some two weeks later -- he immediately behaved as if I were trying to scam him -- claiming that I had had construction done since the couch was delivered which made it impossible to remove and that I was attempting to get him to re-plaster my entire house. When I said I just wanted him to repair the plaster they had damaged, he said his liability only covered 60 cents per pound of the object being moved so he would only be able to pay about $150 (Not sure where that figure came from.) and that it was my job to find a person to repair the plaster. (This was after the lower-level manager assured me that they had a person who could do the work.) I'm fine with people making mistakes, but in business and life people who don't acknowledge their mistakes or work to make them right are not worth dealing with. This company seems to operate well as long as everything goes smoothly. As soon as you have a justifiable complaint -- that, for instance, your property has been damaged -- you will be treated with aggression, condescension and contempt. Other reviews here echo that same sentiment and are worth paying attention to. This situation is very simple: I paid the full bill to have couch removed. I have not been compensated for any of the damage done to the plaster on my staircase. Anything else is noise. Let the buyer beware.

Brand new clean facility, complete with friendly, family-oriented staff who work and live onsite…read more If you rent here right now, chances are great that you will be the first person to ever occupy that space. Straight-up, no high-pressure sales, the property is very secure, but access is easy. The hours listed through Yelp are for the front business office. Gate access for existing customers remains open until 9 pm. This is not a 24 hour access facility. I have a larger, climate-controlled unit. One of the nice perks of this place is the overhead motion-detecting light system. I don't know if all inside units have that, but it's nice and not usual. It is not cheap to store belongings in secure climate control, but I think the prices here are reasonably competitive. The owner told me that if they decide to do price increases they space them about 11 months apart and the increases would be $3 or $5 at a time not $20 or $50 like I watch the other places do. Very few people these days can afford to pay for a whole year's worth of storage at a time. I see a lot of these places lure people in with nice introductory rates and promotions, to then jack the prices way up once they are all moved in. Moving is expensive. Storage is expensive. If you aren't careful you could lose everything. I did not take my decision to store my property here lightly, and like I said so far I am happy with the experience.

I had to think long and hard about writing this review because I grew up with the philosophy "if…read moreyou don't have anything nice to say - then don't say anything at all". That being said - I don't want others to fall into the trap I did. My experience was similar to the many other voices here on yelp. I was provided with an "estimated hours time" to complete my move . . . everything in the house was packed and ready to load. Three men showed up late. One young guy was on his phone every time I walked outside to check progress on loading. A completely rude man kept asking to use my bathroom and then informed me I was out of toilet paper and did I have more. Needless to say I had a clogged toilet. They took more than twice the anticipated time to load the truck and behaved outrageously when I said I didn't have enough cash to pay them (since I planned for half the time). The man wanted to stay (alone) in my empty house while I went to the bank to get money. What kind of legitimate business demands payment in cash?! But the real reason I am writing this review is because most of what I loaded into the truck went into storage for a year. I just moved again and was able to unpack my things......crushed storage boxes, soo many broken items I can't even count, damaged furniture AND my very expensive commercial sized treadmill is broken. The day of the move I watched the bathroom idiot try to pick up the console by himself and as I was beginning to say, "don't....." - he dropped it upside down on my concrete drive. I was hopeful that since it was wrapped in foam and moving blankets it would be safe - but I should have known better. When I called the owner he started swearing at me and insisting everything was my fault and his men told him I was "difficult". Don't trust this man/company with your possessions! The clowns he hires to do the moving are unprofessional, rude, lazy and don't give a poo about how they treat your items.

My crew, Derek and Justin were extremely efficient and communicative. They always asked me where and how I would like to have the things unloaded and placed, and were very respectful of my apartment. Ended up finishing everything and more than what I have asked for to unload in less than the quoted 2 hours! Would definitely consider using them again if needed to move. In a word: Don't sweat, leave it to the Big Guys!
