My husband and I used Men on the Move 12 years ago and referred them to my parents who used them today. They were amazing then, and amazing with my parents. They were quick and efficient -- the 3 men loaded and unloaded by 4:30pm. My parents were particularly nervous about a really heavy entertainment center in their basement, but the guys made it look so easy! Moving prices have definitely gone up over the years, but the value for the service they provided was still really great. We will continue to recommend them to others! read more

After receiving a quote over the phone, we hired Men on the Move to transport a piece of exercise equipment from downtown Ann Arbor to the Dicken School neighborhood. An eight minute, 2.7 mile drive. The item was delivered promptly and safely, however, when we went to pay them, they more than doubled the price insisting that the quote they had given us was for just showing up. Unfortunately, we didn't think we needed to confirm the cost again or obtain a written contract. Expensive mistake! We had other options and regret our choice. I appreciated the salesperson who accommodated my date request, and the movers who showed up on time and worked hard to move my furniture safely. It was a complicated move with items from an apartment and storage unit, many of which are large pieces. Two of the movers were very pleasant, but the lead totally ruined it for me. I was anxious the whole day due to his negative, snarky comments and irritability. Moving is unpleasant, and I did NOT need to deal with someone's mood disorder throughout the day. One of the movers seemed to pick up on the way I was feeling and made comments such as, "I have no problem with any of your furniture, I just want to make sure we get it the way you want it". I appreciated that! Overall a very neutral experience...they got the job done, but I wanted to hide most of the day. read more

I asked for a small little task, he said they could do it which is fine great then I go up there to talk to Jeff in the face and he called me a liar and how he doesn't work or trust liars yet if you read the other comments it seems like he lies to all him customers, I wouldn't trust him and in the end he chooses money over how a business should be ran the money got to Jeff's head. We hired Men on The Move in Ann Arbor for our move from Pinckney to Howell last week. Jeff came and gave us a quote. He reassured us that our belongings and upright piano would be carefully and quickly moved. Harold, Devin, Joe and Quin did an awesome job! They were very friendly and professional. They loaded up our old household and moved it to our new house in under 3 and a half hours which resulted in the cost being a lot less than the quote. They were very careful handling the furniture to make sure the walls were not scuffed up. We were very pleased and highly recommend them! read more

The times that you move your parents can be the toughest in your life. I say this because it has been for me. Luckily, the guys at Men on the Move were absolute professionals. I'm a teacher, and I have very little money. I want to preface all of this with their reasonable prices. We has to clean my parents house, vacuum, make sure everything was good to go, but we didnt finish. Items were strewn about and the place wasnt NEARLY as ready as it should be. There were so many things that I kept arguing we should throw out. THEY MOVED EVERYTHING IN LIKE A HALF HOUR. I've never seen anyone move so fast and carefully making sure my folks stuff was good to go. They even cleaned part of my dads grill! We moved them to Jackson, and by the time my sister and mom pulled up chasing after them(they were about 25 minutes behind them) , THEY WERE DONE! I've moved 10 times in 11 years from college and various teaching jobs, but I will unequivocally recommend these brilliant guys to any and all movers. I had the pleasure of working with 3 fun and very hardworking guys this morning. They loaded up my house, took more than I had exspected as I was not as ready for them as I had thought I was. I had totally over looked some things and ran out of packing tape. They not only gave me more tape, they also were SUPER occamadating, taking random things i didn't know how to prepare and they were fun to work with to boot. I regret that I only know the names of the organizer Devon and one of the major loaders AJ. The other gentlman was so personable and hard working. I was truly impressed by the whole organized and well thought out and quick loading considering what there was to load. So sorry guy that I ddidn't get your name!! I gave you the punching bag LOL. You did a lot of the talking and inquireing to be sure things were what I wanted. Thank you three. I sure do hope it's you guys that are able to deliver my things to the UP in a week!!!! I've used men on the move twice. My first experience went pretty well but it was a very small easy move. The second was a big cross country move and I was very disappointed. As some other reviewers have said, be aware that if these guys break anything you will not see any reimbursement. Jeff will give you the run around until you give up. Some boxes we opened at our destination were clothes on hangers stuffed into normal boxes instead of a wardrobe box. Also , the hygiene of one mover was so bad we couldn't be in the same room. It was not a pleasant experience. I'd recommend going with a more professional company that will stand behind their performance and own up to any damage that occurs. read more

Recently scheduled a pack and move within Ann Arbor. The people who arrived were extremely careless with my items. Delicate things were shoved into boxes with out paper, and now chipped, scratched, and my books crumpled. They forgot to pack multiple spots in my house, even after going over everything with me twice. Finally, I was told that I needed to tip them multiple times. This made me feel incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. The job they did didn't warrant a tip, but I felt pressured to give one as these people just went through all of my belongings. In the end I would go with any other company, or at least watch what these people do very carefully. read more

Moved from Ann Arbor to Chicago (in town). The company is very accomodating and friendly. They provide a full spectrum of packing and moving options. We enjoyed and highly recommend, at least, their kitchen packing option done by a wonderful and trustworthy employee and her husband. This is a key item, especially if it is your first move! The packing and loading process went smoothly, as did the move itself. No items were broken or damaged and we had quite a bit of fragile items. This review is way overdue as I moved in summer of 2014 from Anna Arbor to NYC. First Jeff and Jason gave a very fair quote, even came in to do an estimate. On the day of the move showed up on time and packed things carefully to storage as I did not have my NYC address yet. When the delivery came to NYC, there were two items that had minor scratches and Jeff (without hesitation) refunded the money for the two items, no questions asked. The company provided free boxes and packing tape and also he too the time to restore a coffee table that my previous mover broke!!!! And did not charge for it! What a wonderful people and company. These guys are GREAT! My entire experience with Men on the Move was efficient, professional and stress free! From receiving a quote from Jason to the last box that was brought into our new condo (on the 3rd floor) I truly have no complainants! Percy, Ray & Devin were our movers and they were fantastic! Each of them walked through our house with me and made sure everyone was on the same page about my expectations- I'm a bit of a control freak, so this really helped put my mind at ease. I was a bit nervous that they were paid by the hour, but what we actually paid ended up being considerably less than what Jason originally quoted me, which was awesome! I repurposed some of the money I "saved" into tips for the guys since they had been so efficient! All and all it was an experience that far exceeded my expectations. Men on the Move was fantastic, from start to finish. They arrived on time, wore masks, and packed everything very carefully. Somehow I left a box in the apartment, and they returned for it the next day before the drive to DC. I worked with Jason, and he was quite willing to make the extra trip, even though the slip-up was my fault. The delivery was as flawless as the pickup. Loved these guys! Moved all the way from Michigan to Florida, in July, and these guys were prompt for loading and unloading. Even though it was SO hot, and they had to go up some stairs to reach the apartment in Florida, they were friendly, made jokes, and did not complain. They were exactly where they were supposed to be, when they were supposed to be, which was perfect for my type A personality. We even threw some curveballs like loading a lawn mower and making a second stop at an offsite storage facility. They handled it all wonderfully, and none of our stuff arrived broken. Thieves and Scammers The short story is that I had to file a police report and a small claims action against Men on the Move. Where do I start...they destroyed my front door - I mean ripped it off the frame of the house -- and said nothing. They ruined an entire box of picture frames CLEARLY labeled as fragile. They scratched my new bamboo floors so badly it makes me feel sick to look at them. They left all 3 mattresses in one room for ME to take care of. They left the treadmill at the bottom of the basement stairs for ME to move. And, last, but certainly not least, they destroyed a bookcase. Again, they said nothing about it. They just put the ruined side down so that I would't see it until (of course) I had to move it. When I discovered the absolute lack of care for my personal belongings I immediately called the company and talked to Jeff, who purports to be the owner. Who knows - you can't trust anything they say. He came out to my house to "fix" the floor. It looks no different at all. He also promised to reimburse me for my broken picture frames -- $75 -- guess what? I haven't seen a dime of that money. AND he took the bookcase promising to return it to me fixed and in good condition in a week. It's been 2 weeks. He promised to drop if off yesterday. Guess what? I've heard nothing from him. So, I had no choice but to A) call a reputable handyman to give me an estimate on what it's going to cost them to fix all the damage and B) file a police report for theft and destruction of property and a small claims court action for reimbursement. Luckily, I have a record of all of the text messages I sent to their (alleged) owner and all of the photos that I took. Whatever you do - DO NOT hire these people or this company. You WILL regret it! And I can speak from experience. read more

I recently moved from Ann Arbor MI to Napa CA and used the services of Men on The Move. My experience was 100% positive from start to finish. The movers were courteous, efficient, and respectful of all our belongings which they carefully stored in their warehouse until we found a place to live. The people in the office always friendly and helpful and kept us updated on our move. Their quote was less that the big moving companies and was not contracted out to another company, but kept in their possession until it was delivered. Stopped in office to ask for a quote. Was given a house, no one ever arranged to come out before hand to give a written qoute. Showed up day of move and gave me a bill for over 1200.00. Talked to Jeff and told him bill would be paid by end of week. He showed up at the house on Tuesday being very rude. Daughter called in Thursday to question the charges. Jeff was very rude and unprofessional. Will never recommend this company to anyone. read more

This happens to be the worst moving company that I have ever used. The movers were late and they moved things very slowly irregardless to most things being labeled and sectioned off in my living room. They took too many smoke brakes, tore the furniture apart instead of doing it with care. They threw things in my storage without making sure it was secured causing broken items, huge tears in expensive mattresses, and I have several missing items. (This I discovered after the fact) I give the one star only because the owner tried to fix the problem by sending other guys to rearrange the storage which was almost impossible. I would never recommend this company or use them again. Not to mention they over charged and tried to charge for time that they were not even at my home. This is was a horrible moving experience and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Men on the Move is the best moving company!! I just moved from Ann Arbor to Madison WI and used them for the second time. They are friendly, professional and careful....just nice people. The owner, Jeffery, came over a week before the move to give us an estimate. He was so friendly and talkative. He gave us a price estimate and that is exactly what we paid. I have used the other guys (the two with the truck..) and had an awful experience!! It was so sketchy. All the other moving companies we called wouldn't have delivered our stuff for nearly a week but Men On the Move were there the next morning. They are great!! read more

Men on the Move did a phenomenal job moving our family last October. The entire crew was incredibly courteous and professional and did an outstanding job for us. The move was a little complicated; the guys emptied our house in Ypsilanti and then stopped off at another location in Pinckney to pick up more of our furniture before delivering everything to our new home in Howell. The guys did a tremendous job getting everything safely unloaded and positioned in the house. In no way can I recommend that Men On The Move in Ann Arbor, MI be hired. The following is a copy of the letter that I sent them regarding some of the problems that I encountered. I have had no response at all from them. This letter is to inform you and your company about the disrespectful way my things were handled on Thursday, September15, 2011 when they were moved into my storage unit. On Friday, October 28, 2011 I hired another company to move my belonging from my storage unit into my new home. I was there from the opening of the unit until the last of my things were moved out. These movers would not move anything without me seeing the condition first. The following list is what I discovered: 1. My sofa was shrink wrapped (while I watched) but the cushions were just thrown on top of boxes and not wrapped/protected at all. The recliner was taken apart and also tossed on top of boxes and not wrapped. 2. No dresser mirrors were protected at all. The master bedroom mirror frame is dented and scratch, the headboard which has a mirror in the middle wasn't protected and is also dented. They were just stacked along the side of the storage unit wall. 3. The coffee table also wasn't protected and it was wedged between boxes. It has a mirrored top that moves, luckily it wasn't broken. 4. The dining room table and hutch was wrapped in paper. I wasn't asked if I preferred paper or shrink wrap, but I let this go and paid for it. But my chairs were not wrapped at all and just placed where ever possible. Now I have "spider scratches" on my high gloss table top. 5. A table that was in the basement was moved and one leg was broken off. No one mentioned this and I found it in my Christmas tree box. Also one of the plastic bins is missing, if it was broken someone should have told me (it belongs to a 3 bin cart). After speaking with you regarding the way my basement was left and you offering to "send 2 men over for a reduced rate" to finish moving what should have been moved in the first place (i.e. packed boxes, an antique mirror that was bubble wrapped) I decided to wait until after I moved and had a chance to go through as much as I could before writing this letter. December 8, 2011 Page 2 of 2 I appreciate your company being able to move me on short notice and the movers had a pleasant attitude that is why they received a tip, but because of the way that my belonging were mishandled I would not recommend that this company be hired by anyone that I know. This move was not worth the $1,300.00 that I paid. This was more than I paid to move into my new home with 4 men, 2 trucks, in the same amount of time and they even wrapped my furniture to prevent further damage. Note: I recommend that anyone reading this that needs an excellent moving company call Handle With Care Moving. I used them 7 years prior to this move and I used them to move from my storage unit in October 2011. I will post a review for them giving 5 stars. read more

Worst moving experience ever! I have moved A LOT and have used many different movers. The last time I moved (2 years ago) I used this company and had a really great experience so I decided to use them again last week. I was given a quote over the phone (rather than in person which is how they quoted me the first time I used them). I gave them a general list of what I had and explained that I had sold a lot of furniture so didn't have couches, kitchen table, etc. The guy told me that if I disassembled my bed, dresser and desk and staged all my boxes that it would be easier and faster for the movers and reduce my cost. I worked my arse off getting everything prepped and ready, even stacked the boxes 2-3 high, in order to make things go smoothly. As soon as the movers arrived I was told that I was misquoted and that I had way more than what was on the list and that it would take much longer than the 2-3 hours quoted. I didn't see how that was possible. The three of them started moving my stuff and they were about 75% done in an hour. Then they vanished and started reappearing one at a time about every 15 minutes. They spent the next two hours barely moving anything. Then told me they couldn't move anymore because they were already at the 3 hour limit. At one point I looked outside for them and found them sitting on the truck, just hanging out. When they arrived at my new place they unloaded in 45 minutes. So it took 3 hours to load and 45 minutes to unload. Hmmm, was it because my husband was at home for the unloading? It took 4X as long to load my stuff as to unload? They totally took advantage of me and milked as much time as possible in order to overcharge me and do as little work as possible. I still had to move a ton of stuff that they left behind. My husband called to complain and got voicemail, left a message but never got a call back. I called the office the following day and talked to a girl who said she'd have the owner call me but he never did. I don't know what has happened to this company but they have taken a turn for the worst. Please do not hire them. Companies like this need to go out of business. read more
