He is everything you would want in a handyman. And how hard it is to find someone like that now a days... I have hired many contractors and he is certainly one of the best I have ever came across. First time I have ever witnessed a handyman (or anyone for that matter) whipping out an UV light thingamajig to observe the details of his painting job. I don't even know what that tool is called. It looked like a mini lightsaber. I can safely refer him to my Japanese friends in Greater Boston area, which really says something.

For our latest…read moreproject, we needed to increase the functionality of a small nook in our Cambridge condo, which was serving as a book shelving-cat feeding-cat litterbox-storage area. Ed worked with us to design and build beautiful built in bookshelves and cabinets that perfectly fit the space (with all of its uneven surfaces!), and even included a custom litter box space for our discerning felines. He also adjusted the electrical outline to accommodate the new built-ins, and, with a newborn in the house, we appreciated that he did as much work as possible ahead of time! We would trust him, and his design recommendations, for any future project. We keep staring at the bookshelves, saying to each other how great they look!

They also cleaned every day before leaving, not just my unit but also neighbors windows and the street - wow! I could not recommend Boston Doors and Windows more! We were so impressed with their services that we asked to work with them for some additional work after the initial project was completed. The project involved redoing our kitchen and bathroom. We used a 3rd party to design and purchase the items through them and relied on Marcelino and his team to demo and install the new fixtures, cabinets and appliances! Although there were hiccups along the way (something to expect when it comes to any renovation work), Marcelino ensured that issues were had were addressed promptly. Marcelino was upfront during our initial walkthrough quote and gave an accurate timeframe when the project could be completed. The second phase involved the installation of some recessed lights which was completed within 1-2 weeks. Very happy with the results! There were some minor issues after the project's completion but after mentioning these concerns Marcelino had his team stop by our place with a very quick turnaround time to address our concerns. Overall Marcelino and his team were professional and respectful of our property (made sure to cover our exposed furniture during the painting/demolition phases). Their price was also reasonable for the Boston area. I would strongly recommend Alcantara for any renovation projects you may have! We would use them again for any future projects we may have planned.

We recently had our deck completely rebuilt by Boston Framers and we couldn't be happier with how…read moreit came out. We actually got their name directly from the deck manufacturer, who told us Boston Framers was excellent and highly recommended them. After working with them, I can see why. They started exactly when they said they would and showed up every day to keep the job moving. They even worked some weekends to get everything completed, which we really appreciated. Their carpenters were excellent. The workmanship was meticulous, the materials were all top quality, and you could tell they really cared about doing the job right. The price was very competitive, especially for the quality of work we received. I also made a few minor changes along the way, and they were very easy to work with and accommodated the changes without adding extra charges. It's not easy to find a contractor that is reliable, fairly priced, uses quality materials, and takes this much pride in their work. Boston Framers checked all those boxes for us. We're extremely happy with our new deck and would absolutely recommend Boston Framers to anyone considering a deck or other construction project. Five stars without hesitation.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

I…read morerecently had Ryaan and team gut renovate my kitchen as well as do a more minor renovation in my bathroom. I must say that I was impressed with the designer with whom they work, Anna Orfanides. I told her what style I was looking for, and Anna knocked it out of the park. It's simply stunning, and everyone who has seen my kitchen is impressed. While it was merely a galley kitchen in a Brookline condo, Anna envisioned a design that made it much more functional, timeless, and chic. Hilary Farr would be impressed. Ryaan and team are highly detail oriented. There was one incident where there was a problem with some of the lighting materials. While some contractors would have taken a shortcut and simply have installed the lighting as is, Ryaan and his electrician Chris, who was a perfectionist, made sure that the vendor was held accountable, and they refused to install the product until the issue was resolved with the manufacturer. It should also be noted that Ryaan and team are in constant communication from the project inception until the very end. Kristina, the project manager, is unbelievably responsive. You really can get in touch with her around the clock. The workmanship is impeccable, and it's the first project I've done with a nonexistent punch list. Ryaan took care of small details before I even mentioned them. Finally, I want to add that they are just nice people. I really do think animals are the best judges of character. My dog is a Lhasa Apso, and there are some people he just doesn't like. I was worried that there would be lots of barking and growling throughout the project. However, that was not the case. My dog took a liking to the project team from the beginning. There was no barking and growling. If he can trust them, so can I. It was a wonderful experience, and they really have earned five stars. Thank you!!
